Heart did not get asked to do a tribute to Led Zeppelin by accident, they are in the rock and roll hall of fame themselves. Ann Wilson is one of the alltime great vocalists Thx.
Heart has recreated themselves a couple of different times, but this is their true iconic form. Ann Wilson versatility as singer really comes out by the way she can get down and low then bring the power when she needs to. Her sister Nancy's guitar playing is some of the best, female or male. They are both so outstanding that sometimes the rest of the band is over-looked, which is a shame. Going from the 70's to the 80's they changed their style both vocally and appearance wise, but I still prefer this. Check out "Magic Man" and "Dream Boat Annie" for more.
This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".
These ladies really rocked in the 70’s and 80’s. I think their appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors [Zeppelin] was in 2014. By then, lead singer Ann was 62 years old and she was also a little bit under the weather. And she still slayed it! It’s a must see for sure.
The band is from Seattle. The main two members are sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann has the dark hair and sings lead vocals. Nancy has the blonde hair and she plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano and also harmonizes with her sister on some of their songs. All of the other back up musicians of the band have come and gone through the years. When you get around to playing their tribute to Led Zeppelin, Nancy is right up front playing the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song and hits it perfectly note for note. Talk about pressure playing that right in front of the band themselves. Also I have seen them in concert twice and they are just as amazing in concert as they are in all of their recordings, except you get more personality in person of course. ☮️
Heart is one of the greatest female rock bands that have ever been created. This is just one of their many incredible songs that allow Ann Wilson to show off her insanely powerful voice that has made her one of the greatest female voices that there ever was.
To call them a female rock band is somewhat misleading. 2 of the 6 members were female, The male members were integral to the Heart sound, at least the pre-80's version of Heart.
"Alone", official video, is an AMAZING song. Lead vocalist Ann Wilson is one of the greatest female vocalists ...ever. Nancy wilson, her sister is a guitar playing queen with great vocals as well. They are rock royalty. Others by Heart, Crazy on You, Magic Man, White lightning and Wine, The Dog and The Butterfly, Dreamboat Annie, These Dreams, Bebe Lestrange, Even it Up, Never, Straight On, so many to dive.
In 1975 the band was based in Vancouver, Ann says they had just been fired from a gig in Calgary. They received a call that the opening act for Rod Stewart backed out and Heart got their big break as they filled in as the opener for Stewart in the Montreal Forum. Rock music was a tough world to break into as females and Nancy wrote the song Barracuda after one of the record execs referred to the sisters as lesbian lovers. As in he acted as a treacherous barracuda.
The 2 sisters, Nancy and Ann Wilson are phenomenal. I have been a fan since the 70's. I still follow them on social media, and learned just the other day that they are working on another new album. Very exciting.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are legends! With a kick-ass band behind them. This is when they were very young. Many other videos of them are much older women. So good. They actually were a Zeppelin cover band before they made it.
Welcome to Heart! To hear exceptional examples of Ann's voice check out "Crazy On You", or "Alone". Other greats of their's include "Magic Man", "Straight On", "Dreamboat Annie", "Never".
HEART has always been one of the best bands from back in the day, and theyre known to be the very best at covering Led Zeppelin and doing it justice. Check out the Kennedy Center honors ceremony honoring Led Zeppelin with Jason Bonhom son of the late John Bonham, its a world class performance of Zeppelins "Stairway to Heaven" with the Zeppelin guys sitting right there teary eyed the whole time
Anne has one of the greatest female voices in rock 'n' roll, & sister Nancy is one of the finest guitar players in rock, as well. She has her own line of guitars. Thanks for your reaction.
The greatest womans voice in rock & over many, many decades -unbelievable ! 🙂✌️ ❤️ ❤️ Also Heart & Jason Bonham's cover of Led Zeppelin's " Starway to Heaven " during Zeppelin's tribute was a masterpiece !
🔥🔥🔥 FIRE! Ann Wilson is one of the greatest singers ever!!! Her sister Nancy plays such a mean guitar and a very good voice. Mamy more great songs. Crazy on You, Never, Alone. Did a phenomenal cover tribute to Led Zeppelin in 2012. Their in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and surely deserve being there.
Yes, there have been other female leaders of their respective bands, but Ann and Nancy took it to another level. The inspiration for this song was their anger and mistrust of the reporters and critics who could not or would not recognize a female due in a man's world of rock. One reporter asked the sisters if they were lesbians, (insert shaking of you4 head here.) Heart is from my home town of Seattle and I've seen them live, before they became huge, up in Vancouver before they hit the big time. All of them are sensational musicians, even though they've gone through many line-up changes, Ann and Nancy are Heart. Rock n' roll Hall of Fame inductees, they also performed the greatest cover of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. Their performance brought Robert Plant to tears. A great band and a great reaction to them. Keep them coming guys.
Heart is my all time band since I was 16 in 1976. I saw them a few times in the 70s. My son took me to see them for my 61st birthday in LA at the Hollywood Bowl. They sound so good. Just like I remember.
I’ve been to many rock concerts beginning in the early 70s. Heart and ZZ Top are the only bands that never disappointed me and I’ve seen them each five or six times! 🇺🇸🇨🇱🔥🤘🏻😎
An awesome band live and in the studio. Some bangers and some epic ballads. What About Love, If Looks Could Kill, Crazy on You, Magic Man, Dreamboat Annie. The list is almost endless
This is a live performance with the studio track dubbed onto it. The actual live performance video is on UA-cam (Tripwire channel) with the original audio and I prefer it to this version, but you generally can't go wrong with Heart live from any era. :)
These sisters are the best rock group ever. Ann Wilson is singing lead & her sister Nancy is back up & guitar on this one. They both do lead & they both play guitar, although Ann seems to do lead more often.. And they are an American band from Seattle, originally. I love this performance & I laugh because I had that exact haircut at age 20. LOL You're gonna love their version of Stairway to heaven. They are much older & show that they can still rock it out hard.
Thanks for that! Heart is fronted by the Wilson sisters Ann & Nancy. Ann is the main singer but Nancy signs a few songs also but she is mostly known for her guitar work. They are incredible and still making music today!
Considered by many to be the top female rock voice..They have so many great songs..Comprised of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson..And yes they are still at it but as of now they both have separate bands..Next songs to look for is "Crazy On You" "Magic Man" "Straight On" "Dog And Butterfly" among many others They also do great covers of Led Zeppelin..Look for the 2012 Live at the Kennedy Center where Led Zeppelin is honored, Ann and her sister Nancy sings "Stairway To Heaven" ..For a couple 80's songs try "Alone" and " All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You"
Big Rabbit hole to go down. Ann is the best Female rock roll singer her sister plays the guitar. Ann’s powerful voice really comes out in the song Alone. But there are many great ones.
Ann Wilson is the best female hard rock vocalist ever, bar none. She's incredible. If you go through more of their catalog you'll see what I mean. She's pretty fantastic on the Stairway cover as well. And she still sounds that good today -- she just did a duet with David Draiman on Disturbed's last album.
Before Heart landed their first record contact, they honed their chops performing as a Led Zep cover band. For years in concert they always featured Led Zeps "Rock n Roll" as their first encore song. If you do react to their live version of Stairway to Heaven, PLEASE do the full length performance from the Kennedy Honors. DO NOT use the clip from CBS TV's presentation as it is edited and chopped up, deleting an entire verse of the song and butchering of the guitar solo.
When you eventually watch the Stairway to Heaven performance, keep in mind a few things. It took place in Dec. 2012 (35 years after the Barracuda video). And they performed it for the surviving members of Led Zeppelin sitting in the audience...with the son of their deceased drummer on the drums.
This song was inspired when Ann Wilson read a critic in a rock magazine( there were several back then when people actually could read) speculate that perhaps Ann and Nancy were lesbian lovers. The sisters were understandably pissed off.
If you listen to her vocal at the beginning, I actually find it fascinating because those are some really interesting intervals that she is climbing up quickly and then leaping to quickly. I think she shows masterful vocals on this right out of the gate. But on the other hand, I already knew and have seen them for a couple albums before this, so we definitely knew about them by then. This is the music of my growing up. My cousin went to their high school but was a few years behind them, and apparently they'd occasionally come back and jam in the high school band room over lunchtime, and the word would get out late morning, and everybody would say, man the Heart sisters are back - screw lunch; get over to the band room to watch them jam, lol. I'm assuming that other people in the comments will give the context for why the song was written in the first place, but it's typical of the record industry at the time and yet it ended up being such a great song, and it should be noted that they basically lifted and acknowledged that the main riff and feeling for this was from Led Zeppelin Archilles Last Stand, which had come out on their kind of outlier prog-rock album Presence, barely a year earlier. And, given the story about how Barracuda came to be, the fact that they just lifted that Led Zeppelin riff and then years later, end up at a globally televised event honoring them, is just wild.
I really hope you dive into more Heart songs, there is no other voice like Ann Wilson. Crazy on you, alone, if looks could kill, so many amazing songs! ❤
When it came to Women's Rock of the 70s this is THE BAND. I rarely heard anything about Patty Smith or Joan Jett until the 2000's. The other girl bands at that time were the Go Gos, the Bangles, Pat Benatar and Tina Turner. It almost seems like people were trying to rewrite history trying to say what an impact Jett and Smith had on music. You should also check out their song "Magic Man"
Ann Wilson is THE definitive female rock and roll singer, and one of the best ever, period. This is a good intro to Heart. Next should be Magic Man. And throw in some softer stuff, too...Dog & Butterfly is beautiful. Tarry in the 70's, then slowly progress into the 80's. Regardless, definitely check out more Heart!!
The beautiful Wilson sisters and their group never fail to deliver. Great songs delivered with passion. Their cover of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Centre in the presence of members of Led Zeppelin is epic. To truly appreciate this song you need to listen to it a few times to appreciate their arrangement and instrumentation. Great intro and reaction as always. Stay safe.
Bars and Barbells…you guys are the best. I love your observations and intent. Heart is awesome and their vocals, guitar and percussion skills are amazing. Thank you for your reactions to Baracudda. Bill in Daytona Beach Florida
Just part way through and during the introduction, but I would strongly recommend that you also watch or listen to their even earlier hits which put them on the map, like Magic Man, and, Crazy On You, before you check out their Led Zep tribute at the Lincoln Center literally decades later.
Ann was referring to the record label and music industry as being barracuda’s ! She was putting it out there how she and her sister Nancy were feeling. Ann in my opinion has the best female rock voice and is pals with Zeppelin (Robert Plant)
Ann Wilson is one of the most powerful iconic vocalists in rock - whether male or female. Her sister Nancy Wilson can also sing but is ranked as one of the best female acoustic guitarists. Their best band line up is their first, when they were a progressive rock band. In the 80's, they were recreated as more of a pop rock band under corporate direction. They had some great hits, but it was less about putting out great albums and more about putting out pop hit songs. *Some 70's songs to check out include:* "Crazy On You" "Magic Man" "Love Alive" "Nada One" "Sing Child" "Heartless" "Without You" (Badfinger cover) "Cry to Me" "Say Hello" "Straight On" "Dog & Butterfly" "Mistral Wind"
Heart was popular in the 70s when they played rock and folk type of music. And wrote their songs. They basically fell off the charts and broke up except for the two sisters in the early 80s. They reformed around the two sisters in the mid 80s and their record company had professional song writers write their songs with more of a rock ballad pop style and became one of the biggest rock groups in the 80s early 90s for about 5 years. I bet you guys will like their later stuff better. But most rock fans prefer the earlier stuff.
Great idea to check out Heart before you watch them live at the Kennedy Center. One of the best live videos ever! But to get an even better feel for them (and their 80s vibe), you HAVE to watch the official video of "Alone." An absolute killer song and video. THEN you will be ready to watch their Stairway to Heaven tribute.
Anne Wilson is a tremendous singer. Her sister Nancy is the one playing the acoustic guitar. And she herrself has a fantastic voice, as you will see when you guys eventually do the song “Alone” but I would definitely do some more heart then some Led Zeppelin and the song stairway to heaven, then do the heart “stairway to heaven” cover live. Then you’ll get a good ideI of both of the bands and how they play
While you're going down this rabbit hole, definitely check out their 2012 Led Zeppelin tribute to Stairway to Heaven. Ann was 62 when she sang that masterpiece. The move the clock forward ... she has a duet with David Draiman on Disturbed's album Divisive, which dropped Nov 2022. She is the only person they have invited to sing on one of their albums, so ... there's that. I understand there's a video of that coming this year yet. In her early 70s now and still SLAYING it. Her voice isn't the same as it was in the 70s, of course, but my God, it has just aged like a fine wine ... I loooovveee Ann and Nancy!
Yep, glad you hit Heart on this song. Nancy Wilson and sister Ann Wilson are the heart of Heart, Ann is the singer who wrote this song and Nancy plays guitar. They were from Seattle, but spent time in Vancouver. This is the period when they wrote their own stuff. you must try out the live version of 'Crazy on You' which features an excellent guitar intro by the very much underrated Nancy Wilson. They sold out a bit in the eighties with a glam rock style doing songs written for them, but for me, this is their best stuff.
Heart was my best friend of the 70s favorite group. I came to love them. They successfully walked a fine line between hard rock and pop rock. My favorite is a song that Ann didn't really like, but nailed, All I Wanna Do. I guess I'm a sucker for a great "rock story", which this one truly is. I guess it comes from being raised on Dylan. Kinda sexy too. Understatement!! The sexiest song I've ever listened to.
Love Heart. Saw them three times back in the 70’s. They always ended their show with a Led Zeppelin song. What a great voice Ann has, and so does Nancy.
Heart: Crazy On You, also Dog & Butterfly, and Alone. Zeppelin: Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid, Kashmir, Rock and Roll, Since I've Been Loving You, The Rain Song, Ten Years Gone, Achilles Last Stand, and Fool in the Rain.
AnnWilson recently headlined a fair in Sterling Heights Mi. Her voice is amazing soooo many years later . Please evaluate the lyrics in this song its about the misleading lying media
One of the best vocals in Rock. The vocal's aren't the ones in the video. You can tell in a many places. "Magic Man" is my favorite Heart song. Great job!
Although Ann was the primary singer ,sister Nancy did the vocals on " These Dreams " , which went to number one . The opening solo that Nancy did on the live version of " Crazy On You " is stellar .
We were sooo spoiled in the 70's by music. Of course, that was the album era. I remember going to the record store and buying albums by groups I knew from the radio or by the cool album covers.
Great reaction Sam and Phil! There are many great female rock vocalists today. Before most of them were born, there was Ann Wilson and Heart. Nancy Wilson could also sing and was a great guitarist. I saw them live at an outdoor concert back in the 70s...pretty awesome!
Heart is now basically the Wilson sisters Ann and Nancy and they are originally from Seattle but also I think the band got a significant start in Vancouver, Canada. They were big in the 70s, then as you said, the popularity dipped and came back in the 80s with a more 80s sound, which got them even more success. However, they have returned to their original hard rock/female Led Zeppelin sound and had the sister had a falling out not too long ago but I believe have since reconciled and before the lockdown I believe they had plans to tour again, but I could be wrong. They are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame (for whatever that is worth).
The audio for this doesn't go with the video - this is the official video but they laid the studio version over some video from another show. There is a good video of them playing live where all this video was taken from - slightly different than the studio but still great.
Heart often ended their concerts with several Zeppelin songs. And the fans loved it. Zeppelin was a huge influence on them. And Zeppelin, especially Jimmy Page was very happy to have them cover Zeppelin songs. He supposedly told them they could cover whatever they wanted, because they did it so well. Ann Wilson had one of the strongest female voices in rock (not talkin’ pop) matched perhaps only by Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane/Starship. Ann’s power and range were a great match to cover Robert Plants vocals.
Ann Wilson's powerful voice ranks among the elite in rock history.
She's the best, hands down. I'm a huge fan.
Absofreakinglutely
The Wilson sisters (Ann and Nancy) are simply Magic!
I highly recommend watching a documentary about Heart…so you understand where they come from.
Nancy was no slouch in the vocal arena either.
agreed!
One of the best female singers of rock! ♥
Heart did not get asked to do a tribute to Led Zeppelin by accident, they are in the rock and roll hall of fame themselves. Ann Wilson is one of the alltime great vocalists Thx.
They’re also one hell of a Zep cover band!
Steven Tyler ( Abby Road Medley) Kenedy Center Honors Paul McCartney 2010
Also Epic. A must reaction!!
Best female rock voice in history. No question
No autotune no backtracking just a microphone and talent..unlike rap
Heart did a comeback in the 80$. They rocked that too...
With heart.

Dagmars always dropping knowledge!!
These ladies really rocked in the 70’s and 80’s. I think their appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors [Zeppelin] was in 2014. By then, lead singer Ann was 62 years old and she was also a little bit under the weather. And she still slayed it! It’s a must see for sure.
Correction, this was done in 2012.
I concur.

Not only are they legends, she has one of greatest voices in American music history!
Ann is the Queen of Rock ! Her & her Sister Nancy, are Seattle girls like me ! Saw them three times in the 80’s & they never disappoint ! 😘✊👍🤙🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ann Wilson is one of the great female vocalists (not pop but real singing) hugely popular in the 70's and 80's.
Great band founded by Ann (lead singer) and sister Nancy (guitar) Wilson. So many great songs.
Heart is one of the greatest female rock bands that have ever been created. This is just one of their many incredible songs that allow Ann Wilson to show off her insanely powerful voice that has made her one of the greatest female voices that there ever was.
Heart never was a female RnR band.
To call them a female rock band is somewhat misleading. 2 of the 6 members were female, The male members were integral to the Heart sound, at least the pre-80's version of Heart.
The Best Female vocalist in Rock.
"Alone", official video, is an AMAZING song. Lead vocalist Ann Wilson is one of the greatest female vocalists ...ever. Nancy wilson, her sister is a guitar playing queen with great vocals as well. 70's Heart before jumping right into 80's. Same album " Love Alive"
Gotta give "Magic Man" a try for every time somebody's mom tells her not to go out with the bad boy. "But he's a magic man, mama." LOL!
In 1975 the band was based in Vancouver, Ann says they had just been fired from a gig in Calgary. They received a call that the opening act for Rod Stewart backed out and Heart got their big break as they filled in as the opener for Stewart in the Montreal Forum.

They’ve RECONCILED???? I would be overjoyed if that’s true!!!
Ann and Nancy Wilson are legends! With a kick-ass band behind them. This is when they were very young. Many other videos of them are much older women. So good. They actually were a Zeppelin cover band before they made it.
When Ann and Nancy had their band The Lovemongers, they played a lot of Zeppelin covers.
The riff is very similar to Achilles Last Stand.
Welcome to Heart! To hear exceptional examples of Ann's voice check out "Crazy On You", or "Alone". Other greats of their's include "Magic Man", "Straight On", "Dreamboat Annie", "Never".
Love Alive ( same album)
The Wilson sisters have cemented their legacy. Better take the journey.
With Ann's incredible voice and Nancy's great guitar playing Heart made the Wilson sister's a house hold name.😊

Fantastic!!! This and "Crazy on You" were what put them on the Map!!! You also need to check out their 80's music too!!! Alone, These Dreams, etc. 🤘😝🤘
The greatest womans voice in rock & over many, many decades -unbelievable ! 🙂✌️ ❤️ ❤️
Also Heart & Jason Bonham's cover of Led Zeppelin's " Starway to Heaven " during Zeppelin's tribute was a masterpiece !
Don’t get me wrong, Anne’s voice is phenomenal! But I think Linda Ronstadt could more than hold her own against her.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are the greatest sister duo in rock history. Ann has arguably the greatest voice in any music genre
Ann and Nancy Wilson are legends. Ann's voice is iconic.
Ann and Nancy Wilson, the sisters that rocked the 70's and 80's. Many great ones, try Alone, you won't regret it.
Derosier and Fossen don't get enough credit for what a great rhythm section they were.
Don’t sleep on Heart! Multitude of classic songs!
The Wilson sisters showed the world women could rock hard. Ann's voice is unequaled.
So damn good! She is in my opinion the Top female rock singer. Should be in all peoples Top 10 rock singers as well!
Yes, there have been other female leaders of their respective bands, but Ann and Nancy took it to another level. “Heart” featuring the Wilson Sisters have a huge library of hits through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
Michael Derossier....an under appreciated drummer. Many times they had to keep up with him,is what they said😊
You started with the right video!!! Hear Ann's voice and then go to 35-40 years later...
I’ve been to many rock concerts beginning in the early 70s. Heart and ZZ Top are the only bands that never disappointed me and I’ve seen them each five or six times! 🇺🇸🇨🇱🔥🤘🏻😎

Barracuda, Ann is young, Stairway, Ann is 62 and still dynamite!!!
You should also check out their song "Magic Man"
On a Saturday night at the bottom of the sea:
Sharks will stay at home watching "Jaws", while the barracudas will enter the club at 2:43... 🦈🐟😎💯
Stay safe.
Steven Tyler ( Abby Road Medley) Kenedy Center Honors Paul McCartney 2010
Also Epic. A must reaction!! 13:04
Bars and Barbells…you guys are the best. I love your observations and intent. Heart is awesome and their vocals, guitar and percussion skills are amazing. Thank you for your reactions to Baracudda.

*Some 70's songs to check out include:*
"Crazy On You"
"Magic Man"
"Love Alive"
"Nada One"
"Sing Child"
"Heartless"
"Without You" (Badfinger cover)
"Cry to Me"
"Say Hello"
"Straight On"
"Dog & Butterfly"
"Mistral Wind"
Soooooo many great songs including some big over the top 80’s songs. She’s considered the best female rock vocalist!
This DRIVE FAST song was released the year I bought my first car, a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner, and I LOVED it!!
Great job!
You are listening to the queen of Vocals,ANN WILSON. NOBODY CAN OUT BELT ANN
One of the greatest voices of all time. Yes the Led Zeppelin tribute is amazing. My favorite song and video of theirs is "Alone".
Check out the live version of "Crazy on You" to get a real treat from Nancy's guitar skills.
Although Ann was the primary singer ,sister Nancy did the vocals on " These Dreams " , which went to number one . The opening solo that Nancy did on the live version of " Crazy On You " is stellar .
Soooo happy you didn’t pause!!! the best way to enjoy a song u never heard full…. the after thought works just watching you guy’s reaction
Heart was a Seattle based band. They were finally inducted into the rock n roll Hall of Fame.
They're sisters! The lead singer and guitarist are from WA state...
We were sooo spoiled in the 70's by music. Of course, that was the album era. I remember going to the record store and buying albums by groups I knew from the radio or by the cool album covers.
Us old folks had the jam back in the day
Alone is a favorite .This is about the record ❣️ company .
Great rock band very talented with some very popular hits. Heart is a Canadian rock band.
Great reaction Sam and Phil! There are many great female rock vocalists today. Before most of them were born, there was Ann Wilson and Heart. Nancy Wilson could also sing and was a great guitarist. I saw them live at an outdoor concert back in the 70s...pretty awesome!
My favorite Heart song
" Love Alive"
off the same album. Anyone else familiar ?
She is a badass rocker, and her sister on guitar is just amazing!
Other amazing Heart songs, Crazy on you, straight on, magic man, heartless, little queen,
Heart is now basically the Wilson sisters Ann and Nancy and they are originally from Seattle but also I think the band got a significant start in Vancouver, Canada.
There is a good video of them playing live where all this video was taken from - slightly different than the studio but still great.
my favorite from them is ALONE!
Make sure that you pick the long version of the Led Zeppelin tribute. Everyone picks the short one.
I Heartedly concur!
