This is still My world of War craft game lol I come back to it every once in while just to grind dungeons farm gear hoping to get a epic sword or shield for my warrior that I’ve been developing for quite some time now it’s very good title to come back to waiting for Starfiled
The game has always been Elder Scrolls meets Fable for me, but without the depth or charm of either. I still really like it, but it falls short of what it was going for. Number 2 needs a better story and more varied gameplay in my opinion.
Excellent review Matt. Owned this game since PS3 launch but never managed to beat it back then, like so many other titles. Finally giving its due time on PS5. Still a wonderful game to play in 2021
I have an original copy and am now playing thru rereckoning. Haven't got to the DLC yet. I compared the old game textures to the new games textures and there is a big difference if you crank it up on a 4K screen.
Im glad I gave this game a go, understand why everyone said it’s was underrated and overlooked. Just did a very hard playthrough a couple months ago and it was a blast, crafting some busted gear
You actually should watch some of Shadiversity's Videos, he talks about Medieval weapony as well as Fantasy weapons and tho he does think Nunchucks are cool and he has trained with them, he is mostly talking about how ineffective they are as a Actual weapon in his Video about the Nunchucks
Music is so nostalgic for me got the rereckoning box set. My only gripe is the new difficulty setting they needed had an XP boost that makes you OP super quickly.
Couple of Quick Notes here; the release date was never announced until a few weeks before it release, not even a hint of what quarter, just sometime in 2021. Cannot begin the Expac until you have Completed the Main Story Quest form the OG Game, it is NOT level dependent. Recommended level 35+ ..unless you're a Masochist.
All I need to get back into this is for them to remove the level cap "But you're OP enough at lvl40 already!" . Yes. Even on the new highest difficulty. That is true. But...that is where my enjoyment comes from. *That is the point*. Being a thief-mage-bowman-charkam-wielding-sage-Greatsword user. That is the amazingly fun thing about Amalur specifically. But here... I'm limited to 40 :(
I know probably wouldnt happen but WHAT IF??? They drop a new game called The Past Of Reckoning where you play as your old self in the beginning of the war and the map is restored, specifically alabastra. But its just you leading up to your death and all the events that your told in game unfold before you. It would he nice but probably wont happen, but KOAR will always he a high held game in my heart
Is the dlc only available for the new version of the game? Shadiversity is totally right about Nunchucks, btw. He destroyed my childhood love of nunchucks 😭 His videos are great! 😍
Nice review here, I also enjoy a lot the expac, that "oldie feel" with enhanced textures and materials, new enemies, features, it's very enjoyable. I hope THQ Nordic keeps expanding this or even launching a Kingdoms of Amalur 2 would be well received nowadays.
Honestly; mediocre content from 2012 would qualify as PRETTY GREAT content in 2021. That's how far I've felt the AVERAGE quality of game has slipped IMO.
So I have a bug where I bought a Chaos potion Receipe before I unlocked that from the new Main Quest. And the number of cloned Purple and Gold Equipment is a bit weird though I appreciate the stronger version of the EA Equipemtn popping up. It to me still feels a little buggy. I'm still having fun and I've seen them already do an update that looks like it's doing some major changes. They did an update that changed the order of the Shards which I love\hate so I'm hoping these bugs get addressed. But I should say despite the bugs I'm still having fun and I hope they keep working on this game to make it even better.
The only thing I did not like about KOA: Reckoning was that unique armor sets were very difficult to put together. Other than that, I loved that game to pieces! It is nice to hear that the new DLC is good.
its 6/2023 and I am playing this game for the first time but on my ps3 first.. Im loving it even if the world feels empty but that combat though is fire
Really enjoyed the original release on the 360, and loved replaying it in Re-Reckoning (all the QoL changes and the increase to the enemy number during encounters made an already good game that much better)!! So far, the DLC is great, and is a fantastic edition to the game. This is definitely one of the most value-packed games to come out in a long while
Kingdoms of Amalur is one of my favorite games. . .that I've never beaten lmao. I've started about a dozen playthroughs, because the combat and character customization is absolute sublime. But with the lackluster environments, and very mid side quests, I kept losing steam about halfway through the game, before picking it up later with a new build idea. But just seeing the world in this DLC in your video has me hopeful. I think I'm gonna pick it up, again lol.
Any chance you can update that this DLC is FINALLY available on Switch??? There wasn't any mention anywhere that it was finally released on Switch a week ago.
Ok so somone help me with this I dont have the dlc but somehow after 1.11 I have a rare vendor in gorhart does that mean I'll get the 40-50 lvl cap increase? Bc I know I shouldn't bc I never bought it. But I got the vendor even though I didnt buy it so maybe? Any ideas apart from just hoping I go past the cap?
I was really late getting into this. Missed it on 360, but as someone who was disappointed in the direction Fable took, this feels like a spiritual successor to me.
Matty what do you recommend bro I have it on my switch and I have a oled so I’m wondering if it looks pretty awesome handheld but I also got it on ps4 is there much difference in ur opinion anything would help love the video man!
Need a current gen sequel of this game with better environmental traversal mechanics (like being able to actually climb over a log or rock, and being able to actually jump up/down/on/off things), would be spectacular.
Finished the game on my 360 back when it released, I'm not levelling up a character to max level again to play 8hrs of DLC when there are so many games out right now and more coming early next year
This game is such an underrated gem. I’m grateful for the new content but a part of me was really hoping for just one more tier of skills for the classes. This would have encouraged me to play the content with all classes and essentially triple the play time. Hope we see another installment of this franchise…
I love THQ Nordic and all their work and I also just replayed the entire KOA game but I am an old fashioned guy and living on a budget so 5 hours content for 20 bucks is a bit steep for me.
I almost had a truly horrible experience with the new expansion. I grinded the game for about a week or two before the expansion release, got to 40, did everything for del Kel dlc, made god tier gear. Headed into the new fatesworn expansion. Up to this point and my previous years of play KoA, I’ve never had what I say next happen to me. Apparently it’s also a pre existing thing I knew nothing about. At point where there have been so many loot drops untouched, the game will no longer drop any more, and enemies will simply disappear upon killing them. I had made my last save point at the library right after I stole the key off a guard. Fast forward a little bit, after you steal you know what, you have to escape through the tunnels, but need to pick another key off a guard to get through. They wouldn’t drop anything and I got scared and kept trying to load back and try again. I finally ended up leaving and went to an inn, slept for 10 days and went back to try again, and it worked! I was so relieved. If my save point had been any later after stealing the book, my entire progressed would’ve ended and I would’ve installed for good lol.
I can't wait to get into the expansion. My save got corrupted so I'm "forced" to replay it but I can say now at least the remaster is actually worth it for everyone with the expansion. That said, I really hope this isn't the end for Amalur. Honestly it's still one of my favorite games for the base systems alone that they wouldn't need to do a whole ton to get a sequel out. Update it a bit, tweak the quality of life, revamp the map, and add a new story I'd be more than on board for more.
@@HeroC14 unfortunately not that simple. Depending on the service you got it from it involves cutting the save file from where it's stored, turning on automatic updates, running the program again, and copying the save data back. It's still an old game. Complete with old bugs lol.
Ppl keep saying they didn't change anything from original but they couldn't be more wrong, especially when considering the completely transformed new level scaling, before once you entered a region the level for that area was locked for entire playthrough, now whenever you leave a region and return the levels of the enemies and loot are rescaled, that alone is enough for me but the upscaled resolution and frame rate just adds another layer, I've seen remastered that did far less, remember it's a remaster not a remake
I enjoyed the dlc from a gameplay perspective and a good portion of the story was well done but to be honest the ending was a complete slap in the face to me. Idk who else is out there feeling the same way
Loving the expansion but I've hit a wall, rite after the Sins of the Father quest im tasked with going to Crows Peak where the Chaos gameplay starts to take off, unfortunately (for me anyway) when I try to break the 1st rift, the game hard crashes and sends me to the Xbox menu!!! Maybe an isolated occurrence, if not hopefully a patch is on the way.
Ya I still really like it, I played the original on the 360 but since then I've moved more to the PC and decided to pick up the re-release and never regretted that decision and have around 150hrs in the new game cuz I decided to do several characters using using different combat styles. And now I have even more reason to get back into it.

He’s already said he’s not going back
I'm going back to Amalur ...
I really hope this game gets a sequel
Extremely good reviewer. Just subscribed due to your clear, clean delivery and succinctness. Very impressed there are no extra trimmings.
This is still My world of War craft game lol I come back to it every once in while just to grind dungeons farm gear hoping to get a epic sword or shield for my warrior that I’ve been developing for quite some time now it’s very good title to come back to waiting for Starfiled
Ah, shadiversity, the prince of medieval history hot takes lol
We ALL get thing's wrong, few come back to let their friends or in YOUR case @Matty fans know they got it wrong. Kudos Sir
The game has always been Elder Scrolls meets Fable for me, but without the depth or charm of either. I still really like it, but it falls short of what it was going for. Number 2 needs a better story and more varied gameplay in my opinion.
The combat is what makes the game. I wanted to like fable but, it bored the hell out of me.
Hey don't hate on shad he's awesome! Nunchucks are terrible weapons just watch his video.
Excellent review Matt. Owned this game since PS3 launch but never managed to beat it back then, like so many other titles. Finally giving its due time on PS5. Still a wonderful game to play in 2021
Hell yeah Michaelangelo! We need a TMNT Rpg! Nunchuks will always be awesome!
I love this game so much I've played it through 3 times.
I hope it gets a sequel. I can't stand modern games.
You actually should watch some of Shadiversity's Videos,
he talks about Medieval weapony as well as Fantasy weapons and tho he does think Nunchucks are cool and he has trained with them, he is mostly talking about how ineffective they are as a Actual weapon in his Video about the Nunchucks
Nunchucks are terrible for fighting.
All I need to get back into this is for them to remove the level cap
"But you're OP enough at lvl40 already!" . Yes. Even on the new highest difficulty. That is true.
But...that is where my enjoyment comes from. *That is the point*. Being a thief-mage-bowman-charkam-wielding-sage-Greatsword user. That is the amazingly fun thing about Amalur specifically. But here... I'm limited to 40 :(
50 ;)
I know probably wouldnt happen but WHAT IF??? They drop a new game called The Past Of Reckoning where you play as your old self in the beginning of the war and the map is restored, specifically alabastra. But its just you leading up to your death and all the events that your told in game unfold before you. It would he nice but probably wont happen, but KOAR will always he a high held game in my heart
Watch 'This guy's' video on the Black Death. Genuinely moving.
Shad has a great channel
Bought it on PS3, PS4, PC and Switch. That's how much I love this gem of a game.
Is the dlc only available for the new version of the game? Shadiversity is totally right about Nunchucks, btw. He destroyed my childhood love of nunchucks 😭 His videos are great! 😍
Yes, it's an expansion for re-reckoning, reckoning is a completely separate game
@@mathewhosier9739 Thank you!
Nice review here, I also enjoy a lot the expac, that "oldie feel" with enhanced textures and materials, new enemies, features, it's very enjoyable. I hope THQ Nordic keeps expanding this or even launching a Kingdoms of Amalur 2 would be well received nowadays.
Crownhold is fucking gorgeous. May not be as big as Rathir, but the atmosphere and colors of the buildings feel alive.
Honestly; mediocre content from 2012 would qualify as PRETTY GREAT content in 2021. That's how far I've felt the AVERAGE quality of game has slipped IMO.
I know gaming kinda went downhill in 2016 I think it was
So I have a bug where I bought a Chaos potion Receipe before I unlocked that from the new Main Quest.
Did I hear some Fable music in the background?
Also, it's good to see some love towards KoA, I really want a sequel
The only thing I did not like about KOA: Reckoning was that unique armor sets were very difficult to put together. Other than that, I loved that game to pieces! It is nice to hear that the new DLC is good.
Apparently there is a vendor who sells random set pieces
@@ArcaneSorceror I did not know that. Thank you for giving me excuse to return to the game!
@@sneakyskunk1 Reddit can be a wonderful thing, if you stick to the ones you like and are lucky to avoid the more toxic people on the internet
Shivering Isles/Blood and Wine > Burial at Sea
its 6/2023 and I am playing this game for the first time but on my ps3 first..
Any ideas apart from just hoping I go past the cap?
its not that nunchucks aren't cool they are not very effective weapons seriously check it out I love shads videos
Good video Matty, I appreciate the upload.
I have never played this game before, I ended up buying it on sale, looking forward to playing it
I was really late getting into this. Missed it on 360, but as someone who was disappointed in the direction Fable took, this feels like a spiritual successor to me.
If this game gets a sequel, I only have 3 wants.
Ai companions
Ability to freaking jump
Matty what do you recommend bro I have it on my switch and I have a oled so I’m wondering if it looks pretty awesome handheld but I also got it on ps4 is there much difference in ur opinion anything would help love the video man!
Switch version is apparently really good, but the expansion for this isn't out there yet.
Is anyone else having trouble with the new Fatesworn achievements being absent on the Xbox console version?
Just wondering if anyone has had an issue with side quest in re reckoning called of life and death
Playing the dlc made me feel like I was playing more of an extension nof the original Fable. It was indeed magical
This game always gave me a single player wow vibes. It's the same color palette.
I love THQ Nordic and all their work and I also just replayed the entire KOA game but I am an old fashioned guy and living on a budget so 5 hours content for 20 bucks is a bit steep for me.
Ohhhh, you've been wrong *way more times than that.* 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Still enjoy your content, though! 😂
Shad was wrong about nunchucks...
They're even worse than he thought.
They should put this on Gamepass as it deserves to be tried by alot more people
It's on ps Plus, playstation version has got a lot more attention
I was unsure of what this was at first. It’s really cool to see and it makes me wonder about the mmo they were building.
Is there a method to prevent corruption? Multiple save slots?
@@HeroC14 unfortunately not that simple. Depending on the service you got it from it involves cutting the save file from where it's stored, turning on automatic updates, running the program again, and copying the save data back.
It's still an old game. Complete with old bugs lol.
@@HeroC14 It was a bug that happened when they did an update, so nothing you could do on the user's end.
@@RobertStoll Thanks that's unfortunate. I updated first before playing so hopefully I can avoid it.
YO, i know you're busy but Praey for the gods came out on the 14th.
I enjoyed the dlc from a gameplay perspective and a good portion of the story was well done but to be honest the ending was a complete slap in the face to me. Idk who else is out there feeling the same way
I tried to play this game yesterday but the game won't let me change the attack button
KoA has never gotten the credit it deserves IMHO.
My first RPG) Got it from random reselling disks, and it was the lukiest thing in my life cause it is the main reason of my current game tastes
Ya I still really like it, I played the original on the 360 but since then I've moved more to the PC and decided to pick up the re-release and never regretted that decision and have around 150hrs in the new game cuz I decided to do several characters using using different combat styles. And now I have even more reason to get back into it.
Any idea when the switch version is coming?next year?any details
