something about the Xbox 360 era of games just hits different 🥹
I started this game and played through tutorial and stopped.
Oh for sure, a lot of great games were released during those years
Have you ever played darkness? Thats a xbox game from this era thats fire
Waiting on that Prototype remake
Tried this game when it first came solely because it was linked with Mass Effect 3 through some promotion, but having completed Skyrim just a few months prior I couldnt really get into it and never gave it a fair chance. Got it for free through Xbox Live Gold a few years later and absolutely fell in love with it. One of my favorite games of all time now
This game has an insane backstory to how it was made and the problems that resulted from it being made. Including that getting it made nearly bankrupted a state.
I remember somthing about a former baseball guy wanting to make it and they took out major loans and the game didn’t do well enough? Idk
Is there a video about this? Would love to know the story.
This game was also meant to be an MMO can you imagine that? Id say if there weren't so many loading screens itd work pretty damn well
You can find videos about what happened Rhode Island gave them 75 MILLION for a new ip in 2011😂😂😂
@@EP_mc former Red Sox pitcher Curt schilling. 🤣
Probably the most underrated RPG I've ever played, i put it right under Skyrim and the witcher 3, this game is like Fable, if Fable was done right.
I loved this rpg so much. The combat system is so fun. A very underrated game in my humble opinion.
Watching you play this game brings back so many memories I had as a teenager. Very nostalgia.
Damn good game its shame that it never got recognition that deserved
Nah lol, it was generic rehashed shit when it came out and still is.
@@bobhill9845 O jogo é maravilhoso.
@@bobhill9845lol the combat is just good enough to keep it interesting it still holds up today as long as you skip some of the lesser interesting dialogue.
@@bobhill9845cleary never had played the game.
@@Cuestrupaster Unfortunately I played it on the day it came out, Fable 1s combat felt more engaging lmao
I’ve had this game in my library but you playing it makes me want to play it now thanks for that! Please do a series on this!
Would love to see more videos of this game too
This game was critically underrated
Playing the remaster now on PSPlus and I am blown away at how good it is. What an absolute shame it was such a problem for the developers, they made a great game.
My one criticism of this game is the hidden effects on the bleed and poison debuffs. You have to always be reading the loading screens for the informative prompts to generate or you’ll never know that bleed increases physical damage taken or poison reducing damage output
I think I got a physical copy in some sale and it collected dust in my shelf for a long time. Until some day I rediscovered it, launched it with no expectation and played it completely through. Solid game.
I think this is easily one of my favorite games. Always reminds me of my brother when I play it. I cannot express my excitement when I saw that you played it
Such an underrated game. The world building , the storytelling , sidequests , and the main quests are well written. Combat is a bit sluggish but it's an old game and even that is somewhat good. But damn i miss this game. Might replay it after this video :D
It's every bit as good as you remembered it. We re-installed it with the last DLC, but it will no longer run - we're simultaneously pissed off and wistful...
sluggish? For me this is the best combat in RPG... never played anything better than this...
@@Cuestrupasterdragon's dogma
@@shutup1037 I knew someone was going to say that... I never played to compare... so I can't really say much.
@@Cuestrupaster have you played dark souls?
One of my favorite games ever made - played a demo of it and immediately had to go out and buy it back in the day.
my god the art style aged so well
Game was seriously fun and impressively good for what it is. Nothing world shattering but its a nice and chill RPG you can lay back and explore the worlds caves and dungeons, craft, hunt, quest etc. Really wish it got the love it deserved because a sequel to something like this would be an absolute BANGER.
The style and gameplay and just about everything about this game should have been what the Fable series became after 1
Something funny about the fact the character you made completely by random ended up looking like every other npc 😂
So, fun fact qbout the daggers. If you become really good at the assassination skill and sneak from behind for a stealth kill, not only can you reach a stage where you can insta kill large creatures but you may also witness unique kill animationa just when assassinating certain creatures.
This game was awesome back in the day, it’s a shame it kinda went under the radar
Yeah unfortunately it came out soon after Skyrim and was just completely overshadowed. Shame bc it is incredibly fun
i wouldnt say it went under the radar. It was well reviewed and well received, but it didnt sell enough to make a profit because of the massive budget, which led to the Shilling/RI fiasco and closure of the studio. A second game was even planned. Might see more from the IP now that THQ owns it and Re-Reckoning was well received, and even got its own DLC.
I was so obsessed with this game! Thanks for making a video about it 🥳🥳
I bought this on switch to play at night. Thanks for playing a bit of it. I really enjoyed watching this!
I get World of Warcraft meets Fable vibes. I always get a good chunk in, do too many side quests, get overwhelmed by all the content, then bail.
This man must live in perpetual surprise with the number of vids with "I can't believe" in the title
I got this after playing the demo that was linked to ME3, got some armor and chakram launcher in ME3 and omni blade daggers and Shepard's armor in KoA...
I never finished this game way back in the day, it's been sitting in my steam library since re-reckoning came out. This really motivates me to play it again!!
me too
Javyee ! I thought out of all people you would have noticed the Mass Effect stuff in the chest , Omniblades and Mass Effect armor .
Man I remember that preorder bonus, that set was awesome in the beginning!
I miss this type game, you should see gvmers documentary on this game really opened up my eyes
I also went back to it recently, bridging the gap til Diablo IV releases. I crafted a few things yesterday and I'm really satisfied with my poison / ice rogue, it's so much fun. Animations and combat are so awesome, hoping for a 2nd part.
Enjoy it. This game is a power fantasy, everything gets op in the end, ALL of it. You cant die at a certain point, some criticize that, to me thats the POINT of the game
I loved this game when it came out! I played the Re-Reckoning version and loved it as well. An underrated gem of a game.
My favourite RPG of all time man, really replayable because of the versatility of the builds!!!!!!!!!
A dude at Walmart recommended this to me when I was a kid and said it was an underrated game. Glade I played it
Vaas: "Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?"
Vaas: "Insanity is...
I'm: "Hard Difficult + Persuasion Attempts"
One of the greats that can LEGITIMATELY be called underrated.

😆
Disappointing that this only got a remaster instead of a sequel
I remember buying this at Blockbuster when they were closing down. It was so much fun! Especially when I wore the shepherd armor and wielded my hailstorm bow, gentleman’s favor, and dragon eyes chakrams.
The house of valor DLC was my absolute favorite. And earning the Genteman’s favor was the best feeling ever! I then went on a quest to obtain this “Greatsword in the stone” that depended on your level if you met the requirements to wield it. If you met the requirement, then you would get the true version with bonus benefits. But if you were not at the requirements, then you would weak a very weak and inferior version of the weapon.
I played this game a lot, and getting my first house after helping a village with a little spider problem and playing exterminator was so rewarding.
Sadly my game didn’t work the 3rd day. So I had to sadly trash it. But I now have it again for my PS4, and I even went out to get the huge strategy guide dictionary for the game too. And oh man! After looking through that book, I was not aware that there was so many unique armors and weapons.
And I wasn’t aware of the so called “Chicken overlord”
Still one of my favorite underrated games next to Dragons Dogma
Wow I randomly found this game somehow a few months ago and played it. It was actually so fun! I can’t remember the last time I found a random rpg and got lost in its world
Imagine this gameplay in Skyrim.
You can uppercut them with a sword to launch them in the air and then shoot them with arrows when they are in mid air.. The magic is amazing in this game. The weapon upgrades are top notch. This game is one of the most underrated games of all time
I really liked this game. I wish we could’ve gotten a sequel
Pretty sure one is being worked on now. A lot of renewed interest when they released rereckoning and the new expansion the following year
@@ryanglacier30I seriously hope so. A sequel could've been amazing.
Was programmed but with all the losses they canceled it
@jesusmloralopez1970 there are recent rumors it might be in the works, but that's only based on the fact THQ started posted job listings after re-reckoning came out. So it's still unconfirmed
@@can_can9119 let's pray to video game gods
I remember going to college and listening to podcast (I think GameInformer?) and they had some devs and I think a writer on the show to talk about this game and its link to the future MMO. I was so HOOKED listening to it that I stopped at a game shop to get it before going to class. It was a LOOONG day at school.
I really like your channel.
The history of this game is incredible.
Thanks for the video.
I never played this game and now I cannot believe it either. I’ve got to check this out!
The draw for me when this game came out was that one of the creators was R. A. Salvatore.
And Todd McFarlane
The best description I tell people it is a single player World of Warcraft. I love this game!
I loved the original Amalur way back on PS3. I was so happy they remastered it a couple years ago. The fun gameplay still holds up.
The best way to describe this game is "everything Fable wanted to be"
This game has been on my backlog since release. When the re-reckoning came out I bought that too. Now that sits in my backlog. One day...
Truly one of my favourite RPGs. I'm glad to see people are getting into it since the remaster dropped! Way back when it first came out, I didn't know a single other person that even knew it existed. Not even my brother seemed interested lmao. Still, Re-Reckoning is the best way to experience the game. It's got most all the DLC, including those armor sets and weapons you picked up from that chest in Gorhart!
This is that game you see in GameStop as a child and notice but don’t ever have interest outside of that
This is one of my all time favorite games! I was so excited for ReReckoning and the new Fatesworn content.
i remember playing with chakrams a lot. it's like using a yoyo as weapon.
You just go Might full lifesteal + chakram and game is ez
This game is very underrated. Its really good and deserves more recognition. It probably one of my favourite games of all time. Im thinking of doing another playthrough but as a melee character and not a mage(which is absurdly overpowered because of the meteor spell.. i had to stop using that spell because it was too op and it made the game too easy )
The stealthy kills were the most satisfying things for me in this game and I’m still looking for and RPG that gives me the same feeling
Best thing about this game aside of beautiful landscapes was that you can be what ever you want. A warrior, rogue or mage or all 3 together
I didn't know this game existed until my friend mentioned how he used to play it with his brother, I was planning on buying it but it came on ps plus that exact month.
i play this game for the first time right now and it's INSANE how it never got into my field before. this feels like something straight up from childhood. definitely recommend if you haven't played it yet, and don't shy away from playing on hard difficulty, the game itself is rather easy and gets boring quickly if there's no challenge, imo.
This is the hidden gem of my childhood i could never forget
nah we NEED a part 2
the dlc gear is actually pretty much fine to use at that stage, since it scales to your level at the moment you open that chest. And it is pretty much a starter gear.
The side content in this game is really something special. In a good way.
Happy you finally got around to being able to enjoy this :D
my favorite part of this game is the Card system they have. If you want to use a hyrbid build the universalist is just the collest option. I love the classes you can make and it has a lot of build variety.
45 yo gamer checking in. I've bought the re-reckoning (which, granted, is a very lazy port of the original) like three days ago and I'm already addicted,, like I rarely was to any game before. It's so good I can't believe it.
This was a hidden gem for so many years it was SO GOOD
this is a gem very undiscovered gem
I've been wondering to get this game for my ps3 collection but now you persuaded me to get it, still I wish Rhode Island didn't own the rights to it so we can get a sequel
THQ Nordic own the rights
A lot of great action RPGs in this era. Amalur, Dragon's Dogma, Darksiders, etc. This was the era of Dragon's Age Origins and Skyrim as well. Good times.
It is kind of crazy the "legs" this game has had over the years. The controversy and drama about how it was made due to the studio and their aspirations didn't help, the timing of the game didn't help, at the time, it's art style really didn't help. But through the years it's had a good following and it constantly surprises new players with just how much it resonates with them. Sort of like some of the 2d platformers in the 90's and 3d platformers in the early 2000's, sometimes you just have to remove a game from the era it was made in order to truly appreciate all that went into it.
I remember playing this for the mass effect rewards you get for playing the intro.
Ended up dumping more and more time into it and totally forgot about ME 😂
"There must be Re-Reckoning stuff" -Jayvee 2023 [07:02] ; Oh how we all thought the same, but alas...
I played this game Day 1 of it's release and I was in love with it. But times have changed and so has my tastes
But in high school, you were voted boy most likely to not play Kingdom of Amalur.
This game is fkn legit, haven’t played the new DLC yet cuz I feel some kinda way buying it all over even though it’s backwards compatible. You kinda make me wanna change my mind 😂😂
New dlc? I knew about the pirate and naros dlc
@@jesusmloralopez1970 The remaster got DLC a year and half after its release. It's the direct continuation Of the main storyline.
@@davidfrancisco3502 then it's a good excuse to replay it
Glad you rediscovered this game. The combat is awesome. The storytelling is strong. The music is very cleverly written. The writing for the NPC's deepens this tale. There are so many ways to become OP I'm glad THQ Nordic made the hard level more difficult and included a very hard setting. Whenever I journey through the game I like being the Varani rogue to take advantage of the added criticals, and their armors look cool too, imo. I also like filling up the skill tree entirely (yes, it can be done), although the best skills are detect hidden, blacksmithing and sagecraft. Have fun!
I was gonna randomly start assassins creed origins and then I watched this. And now Origins can wait even longer.
Dude I install this game before you post it what a surprise
omg what a game, thanks for bringing back memories!
My absolute favorite weapon in this game is the chakrams. No matter what my build is I always make sure to dip into magic so that I can be proficient with them.
@@jordanhansen5934 agreed they are sweeet 👌
this was such a good game at the time, this and dragons dogma were underrated
Might/finesse builds are so much fun
Hi jayvee!
Your vids on spotify got me through some rough times qnd i finally have youtube again :D
I figured id subscribe and watch a few vids once in a while just because of that
Some of your fallout four guides got me through my first playthroughs of that too :3
Thsnk you for being one of the first videocast channels
Man this will always be one of my favorite Rpgs
Oh man yeah I never finished this but I loved it at the time. I may need to replay this and finally finish it.
play it alot when the first came...still the best experience i ever play in single player RPG.
Now don't get me wrong I loved Dragon Age and Kingdoms of Amalur in general, but I hate when single player games work like an MMO
you should try viva piñata. it’s not quite in your usual game types but i think it’s a silly fun game that has a lot of good to it. me and my cousins used to work through the game just so we could get one distinct lemur looking animal that i had nicknamed Gajhorgoogoo.
4:11 The reckoning mode was awesome
8:16 so many awesome game mechanics, making ones own weapons and armor. Attaching runes etc. Or was that the Witcher 3 🤣
Going into DLCs you will clearly see where stuff became unfinished(and even in the main game, though it's usually more subtle then in creations of studios like Spiders, who work mostly on first area and parts reviewers and trailers will show), but the game has a great atmosphere of Fable-like, even if it's somewhat ruined by clear MMO influences of "project Copernicus".
I remember playing this game for a while, I stopped because I realized I was playing a single player mmorpg
I’m going to have to pick this shit up. Looks dope.
It's amazing. The magic skill tree is so cool. Rain down meteors, lightning bolts etc.. You can go full assassin build and sneak kill everything or go full warrior. Game is such a gem.
My friend absolutely loves this game and I wanna play this game it looks insanely fun
The mage class in this game is probably one of the most OP mage classes ive ever seen. Makes rhe game too easy lol
It's a great game. If you have experienced it, yoi can level really quick early to focus on a build
It felt like sort of a successor game to the original fable when i first played it
this game feels like fable and diablo having a baby lol
Loved this game - it was a hidden gem overshadowed by the release of Skyrim.
I had my issues with it, like how I didn't like that the inventory chest in your houses was universal, so you'd run out of space REAL quick so you couldn't keep all the unique weapons and armour you'd find.
No mounts and lack of interaction with simple things as small as sitting on a bench.
Other than those, amazing combat ( although Sorcerer was OP before it got a remaster ).
Awesome final boss which, imo, was waaaay better than Alduin in Skyrim.
Decent voice acting.
Interesting lore and quests.
Played the heck out this game
Zero Punctuation said it best: Babys first Skyrim.
It was released 2,5 months after Skyrim, in FEBRUARY. So everyone who got Skyrim for christmas were still playing that, and Skyrim had more complex everything, while also not being stuck with one of the worst cameras ever. It also had to compete with Witcher 2, which had MUCH more satisfying combat and a more mature story.
This game is so so good.
Honestly those Fae Blade glaives were PEAK Demon Hunter power fantasy, in the days before DH were added to WoW
