They changed it so set and unique gear is more likely to drop as something useful for your current class. And there is a counter that increases the chance for a good drop if you find nothing for a while. Also the zones are no longer permanently locked to the level you were when you entered. If you leave the zone and come back it will rescale, assuming it hasn't reached the max level the zone can be. Also console users can get 8 abilities hotkeyed instead of 4 like in the original.

The original game is one of my favorite games of all time. But the graphics update wasn't what I was looking for. What's exciting is the fixes to some mechanics of the game, the area zone scaling and the very hard difficulty, but especially the FOV slider which you could only get with mods and it wasn't good enough
@@mythsandlegends77 Do you even know what a remaster is? Did you actually looked at all the changes the game had? Its not a remake and they didn't promised anything of the sort. All the changes are quality of life improvements the game lacked back in 2012 and thats what a remaster is.
A remaster always means way better textures and that is where this game failed. I love KOA and own it this isnt a true remaster this is like a mod fan patch that fans could have made
I haven't watched yet ( I'm gonna watch the whole thing, dont worry) but I would say that it's worth it simply for the camera fix. The old camera used to make me nauseous to the point that I couldn't play more than an hour or so. I'm about 6 hours in on the remaster and I'm so glad they addressed this.
Personally, the 40$ purchase was worth it. My nostalgia with the game comes back and it is well worth it if you like a role playing game, as well as rpg’s. It’s just my time visiting this game once more is calming and very relaxing. It is a one of a kind for me, it mixes classes; hopefully games can follow this trend for rogue, warrior, and wizard seem so basic compared to being a spell blade, a mix of magic and stealth, and a blade master.
to me its just right sometimes a game doesnt need huge updates to the visuals. I like that the audio seems to be a bit cleaned up this time around i can actually hear what the stones you can interact with tell if you want more lore. in the original can barely here a damn word.
Ive seen some bugs like model stretching and containers being broken but usable (like chest tops missing or stands away from the fae orb chests. I also had the camera get stuck UNDER the ground for a few seconds in one dungeon.
I bought this on the PS3 years ago and only ever got a couple hours in. I've purchased Re-Recokoning for my Switch and I'm excited for the new content and hope for a sequel as it is a pretty fun game that I feel didn't get a fair shake back in the day
nostalgia just strikes my head seeing the game, the game so strong on those years that i only 2 hit that one boss that was made out of stone, selling as many items as i can see just to buy the greatest weapon and armor, oh man, i miss those good old days!!
Worth to play, yes, its Kingdoms of Amalur after all.. But not worth the 40 F. dollars they want for it! This is a super lackluster "remaster" for a 8 years old game FFS! and they didn't change much at all. Seriously, read what they changed, its not much. The only notable changes they made are the camera changes, appreciated but still not good enough. And the Zones reset the enemies every time you come back. Meaning the enemies are scaled/re-calibrated to your level and above, depending on the difficulty. And thats pretty much it. And Graphically, they didn't change jack $hit. But the game is now bigger and the performance is much worse. Definitely not worth 40 squids of liquid cash for this cashgrab!! You know what would have been awesome? A REMAKE! That would have been worth instantly 60 bucks full price, if done correct. But a fas easy to dish out cashgrab we got instead. And RIP all EA Origins customers, no discounts for you lol. Thats what you get for supporting the mafia!
If you didn't played it before its obviously worth the 40 bucks, cause previous owners can get it for 15 and thats dirty cheap. Why would they spend money, time and effort remaking a relatively new game like KoA? Thats just silly. The game still holds up graphically and otherwise to this day. Aside from the new textures and water shaders that are 100% better than the OG KoA, the other changes are all quality of life improvements the game lacked back in 2012, if you had actually played the game back then and play it now, you'll notice a lot of nice changes. The zones don't "reset" everytime you come back, the enemies have respawn timers like, you know, every RPG game under the sun. And I agree, EA is the mafia. EA don't want nothing to do with the game for years now and THQ can't do nothing about that, well, aside from buying the rights for the game and pave the way for new contents and, god willing, a new sequel. Its sad that EA had its claws around such an awesome game, but you'll do better than support EA from now on, I'm sure of it.
So many customers lost because they didn't put the effort in. 1:43 Just look at these comparisons...it's the same thing! Definitely would have bought this had they upscaled or re-textured at least most of the assets.
Excellent, scanned all that is important. I enjoyed the original - made Michal Wolodiyowski, from Sienkiewich's book as my character, and enjoyed naming the weapons I crafted in Polish language, it was a lot of fun. The only bad thing I remember about this game is that I collected a lot of resources that in the end I didn't use at all, like 95% of money and materials just stayed in my inventory when I finished the game. This remaster is definitely a waste of money if you own the game, but probably nice thing to get it resurrected for the new consumers..
I am so happy this is coming to the switch. To play this on the go anywhere is perfect, this game deserves to be on the Switch and to be played by so many people
Some nice changes. Looking forward to the new expansion. Great to see one of my favorite game's raised from the dead and for once it wasn't some bastardized version.
There's a lot they fixed. They fixed loot spawning, and level scaling. Plus they plan on adding mod support, and adding a new dlc. I got the game for $22 usd. Not a bad price.
The original game had a static leveling system...when you went into a region it was automatically stuck at that level so if you went back to finish up quests and leveled up then continued back into the area it seemed really easy..this was fixed...that by itself is worth the money..I recommend just trtying it out for yourself if you havnt before, and if your returning to the game just remember how big this game is to overhaul a game of this size too much would seriously drain your computer.
There is a loot chest, but i have no idea what Masseffect loot they are talking about. There are three new item sets in the chest, and they are bad. Bad in Stats and bad in looks. More like MassDeffect loot...
Two things that you didn't cover. First, the XP gain is much lower in Very Hard so expect to reach level cap at a slower pace and Reckoning mode became even more essential to level up quickly. Secondly, the inventory and stash capacity. I heard there are some changes but I'm not sure what changed as compared to the original.
I played at least 100 hours or more of the original game and the graphics are a bit better the comparisons you used really didn’t do it justice and not just that but the gameplay mechanics are so much smoother now they also cleaned up a lot of the bugs. I’m loving it and can’t wait for the new content. Maybe the new content will look better as I’m sure they didn’t want to completely remake the game that would be ridiculous.
Although it's quite a shame that this is only a remastered and not a remake, I'm still quite happy that it puts KoA under the limelight. Hopefully it'll catch a lot of attention and popularity and will finally get a sequel that it severely deserves all these while.
I'm curious if they made those dlc weapons be useful after you go past level 5. They would always scale to you when you left the tower at level 1 and never change
I'm not experienced player of KOA but from my expierience I can tell that the remaster is better and have some changes that You won't notive by the look on UA-cam. I tried to play original KOA, but I got angry, something was off, I was extremly tired by combat which is radiculous cuz it's one of the best aspects in the game. I just didn't liked the game at all. I played like 3 hours, maybe and left the game. Now I'm playing KOA:RR and I feel I can experience the game how it's meant to be played. I'm really immersed, taking every quest. The world is beautiful, there is not much difference in graphic but the Fable-like style of the game never gets old. It looks really good. Finally the loot system works like it should, There are additional camera settitng and they're really useful. If someone finished and like the original, there's probably no reason to buy the remastered at regular price, on sale... I would say it's probably worth it. But if You failed to love the original no matter how hard You tried, as I did, buy KOA:RR and try again. The changes are significant in terms of comfort of playing. I really enjoy the game.
And they are already scamming people with such a high price for this "remaster" when they didn't really change anything. They changed a few script line in the game code, and thats about it. The graphical improvements are a joke at best. The gameplay changes are nice, no question about it. But my god, is this a lack luster overpriced remaster if i ever saw one... practically a cash grab.
Thank you very much for this video. Thanks to you, I will NOT waste my precious hard-earning money buying this remake. I'll stick to the original one (which I already have) and will set everything to max as soon as my new 8gb video card arrives.
Yes, it was worth it. If nothing else, it revived the game and opened up a path for further installments in that universe which I see as an absolute win.
This is a perfect game for the switch.. Just finished Dragon Quest 11 on switch waiting for this to come out on switch. Maybe it'll be available on switch pro
I like it except for all the glitches. •Just found out my chakrams all disappeared for no reason. •One boss fight doesn't work properly. He disappears and reappears, but sometimes he doesn't reappear so I have to start over. And these load screens are frequent and long.

i bought it becausevthe remake came with all the dlc included i didnt get all the dlc for the original and im not gonna lie i like the slight improvement to the textures i play on xbox one.
If you want to see a true remaster of a classic, the original Mafia game is getting a complete visual overhaul and its like 10$. comes out on the 25th of september as well
wish the ui size increase wouldnt increase the font size as well. frustrating to have to scroll through that inventory. it's all soooo biiiigand really hard to use
Thats a huge difference, 2004 was a very different time than 2014. Things didn't changed as much from 2012 to now. KoA still holds up to this day, graphically. The new texture and shaders helped a little. More than that and we're on Remake territory, which THQ doesn't have to money for.
Loved the game when it released, loving it now. Paid for it to support the devs and for the upcoming DLC. I hope that if this does well enough we will be seeing a sequel. Also, if you're on PC there is a great reshade released on the nexus that makes the game look way better.
The only huge change i noticed is that it got rid of that foggy look to it, but other than that It's just minor changes here and there, at least graphically. I hear there was a few system changes with loot and whatnot.
After playing Reckoning on PS3, I have tried playing the other RPG's but they don't compare for smooth battle and story lines (IMO). Now that Re-Reckoning is out, I have been playing it on PS4 and it is even better than I remember.

Yea, removing the focus from the enemy was a really simple camera fix, but the difference is huge!
Great video man! Very thorough, answered all of my questions. Keep ot up!
Thats what you get for supporting the mafia!
its worth 40 bucks if you didnt play it
If you didn't played it before its obviously worth the 40 bucks, cause previous owners can get it for 15 and thats dirty cheap.
To play this on the go anywhere is perfect, this game deserves to be on the Switch and to be played by so many people
I think all the players of KoA in the world already pressed the „like” button and a good quarter of them commented.
really helpful myman, keep it up!
w8ing for the next one!
I’m just glad I can finally play the DLC’s after all this time
they are way better than the main story :)
Some nice changes. Looking forward to the new expansion. Great to see one of my favorite game's raised from the dead and for once it wasn't some bastardized version.
What version of what spiel
Really enjoying this game. I would love a sequel
Ah, was waiting for this
@Zote The Mighty's 57 Precepts bruh..... No silksong
@Zote The Mighty's 57 Precepts eh, I don't expect it'll take long to port to consoles tbh, am dying to play the game either way
I was thinking about getting this game now with all the good content out there about it. Im surely going to get it now.
Keep up w/ these cool videos. Ive been watching a lot of your videos and they just keep getting better
Never played the original but after watching your video I’ve just purchased it online. Thanks mate.
They had an update last night that appeared to improve rays of light coming through the forest
Oh snap! I didn't know the remaster already came out!!
Did they keep the Mass Effect loot chest at the beggining?
There is a loot chest, but i have no idea what Masseffect loot they are talking about. There are three new item sets in the chest, and they are bad. Bad in Stats and bad in looks. More like MassDeffect loot...
So excited for this! Please do some more gameplay videos on this
Two things that you didn't cover. First, the XP gain is much lower in Very Hard so expect to reach level cap at a slower pace and Reckoning mode became even more essential to level up quickly. Secondly, the inventory and stash capacity. I heard there are some changes but I'm not sure what changed as compared to the original.
Very in depth, you deserve more views
I played at least 100 hours or more of the original game and the graphics are a bit better the comparisons you used really didn’t do it justice and not just that but the gameplay mechanics are so much smoother now they also cleaned up a lot of the bugs. I’m loving it and can’t wait for the new content. Maybe the new content will look better as I’m sure they didn’t want to completely remake the game that would be ridiculous.
I like how it runs at 60fps. It’s pretty smooth
Thanks for posting this, helped in my decision making
ive been playing reckong ever since i played skyrim and there both good
Although it's quite a shame that this is only a remastered and not a remake, I'm still quite happy that it puts KoA under the limelight. Hopefully it'll catch a lot of attention and popularity and will finally get a sequel that it severely deserves all these while.
I say yes. Due to they are going to make a second one more dlc to it.This deserves more love then Skyrim.
It's an update and it's on gog now. I'm happy with that.
I wonder if they fixed the sticky items that tended to be unremovable from your inventory if you didn't sell/store/junk them.
Lmao my guy used the starter chest armor in the thumb nail😂
It’s a really fun game! I love it and O love older style graphics. I’m sick of videos on it. Just play it or don’t . The combat is really good.
I hope they fixed the teleport dodge from the hybrid mage classes, which was literally worse than the default dodge.
im low key huped for fatesworn, hope it adds tons of interesting plot.
Embracer Group from Sweden the parent company of THQ nordic now has 43 + studios. So they have evolved, a bit into a bigger player in the field.
I loved the Original, looking forward to your review. I already know I'm getting it, I want that expansion in 2021
It was worth it @60% off for me, but if you are forced to pay full price passing might be beneficial until a sale
Finished at 86h without the dlc on my PS4, I liked it I would give it 9/10(for people who like cleaning maps) the only bad part is the main story
it has more map elements, a lil texture skin smoothness, gameplay is a lil harder. The end ;)
They actually fixed the weird camera angles. You just have to turn off "Enemy focus" in the camera settings :)
Yup, you're right. I kinda overlooked that.
Never played this but picking it up today
I like it except for all the glitches.
•Just found out my chakrams all disappeared for no reason.
•One boss fight doesn't work properly. He disappears and reappears, but sometimes he doesn't reappear so I have to start over. And these load screens are frequent and long.
This was the review i wanted to see. (Not of someone who didnt played it before like "x" youtuber reviewer i know.. coff coff*). I hope to see more from you, changes, improvements difficulty.
i bought it becausevthe remake came with all the dlc included i didnt get all the dlc for the original and im not gonna lie i like the slight improvement to the textures i play on xbox one.
I never played the original and I am thoroughly enjoying this remaster.
I preordered avengers and I’m playing this over that
what an awesome and informational video. Exactly what i needed.
The original had a few bugs when going to modern display resolutions, i feel like everyone talking about this game has forgotten to mention this.
If you want to see a true remaster of a classic, the original Mafia game is getting a complete visual overhaul and its like 10$. comes out on the 25th of september as well
i'am on the fence with this remaster, it needs more fixes, have till sept 22 to snag the 60% for previous owners deal.
wish the ui size increase wouldnt increase the font size as well. frustrating to have to scroll through that inventory. it's all soooo biiiigand really hard to use
I was expecting like Fable to Fable Anniversary graphic change
Yea me too, amd fable anniversary still looks great
Thats a huge difference, 2004 was a very different time than 2014.
I love KoA but this remaster just looks like the same game.
The only huge change i noticed is that it got rid of that foggy look to it, but other than that It's just minor changes here and there, at least graphically. I hear there was a few system changes with loot and whatnot.
@@probablybears The level scaling changes and new difficulty made it a no brainer for me.
But it IS the same game.
Do you know the difference between Remaster and Remake?
Because it’s meant for people who don’t have a ps3/xbox360
After playing Reckoning on PS3, I have tried playing the other RPG's but they don't compare for smooth battle and story lines (IMO). Now that Re-Reckoning is out, I have been playing it on PS4 and it is even better than I remember.
