    Well done! Great info for people. One thing i would suggest is adding some black pepper. It drastically helps with the absorption and effects of the turmeric. The other would be some iodine salt. This dramatically helps prevent thyroid issues and is a necessary element that most diets are lacking, including our own.
    Ive been working with my vets and making food for my dogs for about 25 yeara now. Have went thru several different variations over the years. Ive gotten to the point where i just put everything into the instapot and cook it for 20mins and poof its all done. I use hamburger, tilapia, chicken leg quarters, pork butt, turkey, any protein i can get ahold of. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, green beans, blended eggs, spinach, broccoli, corn, carrots, beets, different beans, squash, cucumbers, parsley, any veg i can get that isnt bad for them like onions. I add turmeric, black pepper, ginger, iodine salt, fish oil, chia, flax, coconut & olive oil, and hemp seed. And thats their main food. I do also give em yogurt, different fruits all the time. But dor their main food i just cut it all into 1 inch pieces or so & throw em all in the instapot for 20 25mins, and its all done. Then just mix and mash it all together when im putting it into the storage bowls. No food processor, no extra cutting or stuff except blending the eggs.

    I would use the fresh carrots instead of the bagged. They are cured in Chlorine. That is why when left too long in the fridge, they get slimy.

      @@RealLife_D_and_J - I have not noticed my 5 lb bag of carrots 2.88 walmart ever becoming slimy, although I wash them tossing the store bag after purchase, and re bag in super large glad bag add a cap or two of bottled water to maintain hydration, which the carrots draw up, close and they are in great shape.

      Fresh carrots are less expensive as well, plus not sure if you have a local publix, they tend to have 20 lbs for 19.99 and if you have a super large freezer, you can toss some if after minimal blanch to have available for your recipes; or walmart 5 lb for 3.88 as need - it's less.

    Hi thank you so much for sharing your recipe! So I wanted to give it a try and make a small batch. I wanted to make sure my girl would eat it! So what I did the first time was 2.5 turkey I made 2 cups of brown rice I used all that and mixed peas and carrots in as well with a can of pumpkin. She love it!! That lasted 3 days. Just wondering what else I can put in to bulk it up to get at least one more day? I just bought the vitamins as well. Thank you so much for sharing ❤

    Jim from Ohio 🇺🇸
    This is almost identical to my dog food recipe. One thing I would add is: a little fresh ground pepper. This will increase the value of the turmeric by 1000-2000% otherwise I give my dogs ginger root and a little fresh ground cloves. I grind fresh pumpkin seeds (raw type) and some “local honey”. The honey will address any types of allergens that might be in your area.
    Otherwise, I do just what you do and I’ve omitted the peas as well…
    Thanks

    Raw feed unless a dog is sick. Cooked food needs digestive enzymes. Dogs have ZERO requirements for starch. They must consume organ meats for B vitamins and digestion. Dogs cannot stay on the same food ingredients as they will fall short quickly. Raw meaty bones as egg shells are not enough. Chicken is considered a very hot meat especially during summer. Not recommended for dogs with inflammation.

    Any suggestion how many cups of this food I would feed a 60 pound doodle?

    • @RealLife_D_and_J
      @RealLife_D_and_J  Рік тому +3

      We recommend to start feeding at 1 cup per 10lbs of dog. So in your case it would be 6 cups per day of food. Then adjust to their activity level, meaning if they are active and start to loose weight at the current feeding level then increase the food and vice versa if they are gaining weight. Hope this helps.

    I've always read that a true balanced diet needs 80% muscle meat, 10% bone, 5% liver and 5% other secreting organ...I don't think the egg shells you include would be considered a high enough ratio as compared to bone. Liver is critical.

  • @nogames8982
    @nogames8982 Рік тому +1

    I would completely skip the rice, and I would add in liver. It might also be a good idea to feed your dogs, canned sardines or mackerel every once in a while. Don't get the stuff pack and oil, get the ones packed in water. Yes, they might have salt, but that salt will not hurt your dog. You need a little bit more variety in this.

    A cup a day per every ten pounds actually makes this expensive since my two dogs together would need more than 14 cups a day 😥. Still good for a day or two a week. Why did you cook the chicken twice ? Why not just blend it and put into the pan to cook once ?

    The more you cook the meat for your dogs you're literally cooking out all of the nutrients. For that batch of food you should only put the teaspoon of turmeric. And I seen absolutely no organs. The rule for making dog food is 80% meat 10% Organs and of course for the calcium 10% rawbone. Dogs don't have much need for carbohydrates I would have maybe put in a half a cup for the full batch..1 eegg every second meal

    I am glad you’re cooking for your doggies but that’s way too much rice which is not beneficial, only brown organic rice is in small quantities. And turmeric is only effective when combined with black pepper . Organ meats are good for them as well. I warm my boy’s food on the stove as cold doesn’t sit well with digestion. No microwave as it depletes the nutrients in the food. Thank you

      Well I zap my dog food in a microwave and it doesn't kill anything It just takes the edge off the chill off and turmeric is just fine without black pepper
      And by the way the food she is making is 100% over the top better than any dog food in a store so all the tweaks you want to jab out really doesn't amount to a hill of beans because this recipe or any normal food recipe is extremely better than purchased dog food.

    So you cook the chicken thighs but not the ground turkey??? Odd decision .Gently cook the turkey on the stove then add. Also scramble the eggs. Good base recipe. The cost is very low however for us in Canada this would equate to $8 a pound for ground turkey, the chicken thighs are at least $40, veggies would be $25 , tumeric is $6 . Looking at over $100. Also you are missing organ meat which essential.
