Thank you, so much, for this recipe! ❤ My 14 y/o chow-retriever mix was recently diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease and a grade 2 heart murmur. Great video! Do you have a recipe for pork and turkey? My dogs allergic to beef so Ive been on the hunt for a complete balanced recipe with other proteins
I think this is great! Are you going to do a video with a low protein food for adult dogs? My vet recommended it for my 11 year old fur baby, but I would rather make it at home. I'm not sure what I would put in the 60% where the meat is in this one to make it work.
This is great information. I have been making my dogs food for a little over a year now. I have been unsure of the nutrients so I mix it with high quality kibble. However she has diabetes now so I am working at getting her off kibble. I just started her on Ziwi brand dried beef , still mixing it with homemade food. I would greatly appreciate any nutritional information you have for diabetic dogs. She is 12 and a half years old Chihuahua, Minpin mix.
Ive got a 13 yr old male Chihuahua and a 16 yr old female whom we just celebrated her " Sweet Sixteen". I've been cooking for them forever and your video will actually tweak it in an even more nutritious manner. 75% of their diet has been organic chicken. Should I flip it to be more beef based? I live near a ranch so I get my ground beef and liver all pasture raised.

My GSD is highly energetic. We have over an acre and she’s very athletic. She full on Race sprints all cars everyday. That’s a 400ft round trip. Won’t she need more carbs? She’s 4 y/o
For dogs and humans, there are NO essential carbohydrates. Wolves and coyotes raid farmers fields for mice and other rodents. They don’t go after the grain. Most dog food companies are owned by cereal companies who have an abundance of cheap grains. My dogs eat sweet potatoes and carrots when I have lean days for them as they are hungry. When I give them meat days, they don’t touch the vegys.

I have a few questions about this recipe. 1. Unfortunately, i can't find sardines with no salt (the least salty is John West sardines in water, which have 1 gram of salt per 100 grams of sardines). Did i understand correctly that the sardines in this 1 kg recipe can be replaced with 2 eggs (or did you mean just the shells?) and 100 gram of salmon oil? 2. I would definitely like to try this recipe and that's why i want to ask, because i want the recipe to go right. Thank you if you have time to answer.
Cups and tablespoons are not precise (1 cup is different depending on how much you pack into the cup), and are different country to country (1 cup: USA is 240ml, Oz is 250ml). I recommend buying a food scale. Weight is the same regardless of country or measuring technique. It will make your cooking so much easier and precise.

Your 50 lb dog gets 605 grams or 1.334 lbs per day. The 73 lb dog would get 883 grams or 1.947 lbs per day. So if you made this recipe everyday for 7 days on the 8th day you would have enough to feed both dogs one time as a leftover. I think...😮

Hello there, this is a brilliant recipe. I have a question. Is it okay if I feed my dog kibble and fresh food? For instance, I feed my dog three times a day(for now), for breakfast and dinner, I feed her kibble, and for lunch fresh food.
Cod liver oil would be an omega/fat supplement. I believe the beef liver serves as a source of essential vitamins, so the two would not be interchangeable.
This diet is pretty much keto except for the root veg. The only root veg I have found that isn't loaded with sugar are rutabegas and I use them in place of potatoes. This recipe is practically tailor made for diabetics.
My dog gets diharea with beef would chicken be a good alternative plus my vet said brown rice 1/3 cup is good for my dogs ? How come you don’t use brown rice ???
When I feed my senior dog refrigerated food, I run hot water in the bowl to warm it and add some hot water to the food to take the chill off. He laps up the soup (as it has plenty of flavor) until the soup/gravy is nominal and then eats the solids. He has free access to clean water and a small portion of kibble that he will usually ignore until later.
@petcubesofficial , for this recipe in the video , how much turmeric? Or should turmeric be added at feeding , based on the dogs weight ? I have 5 adult dogs , between 10 and 15lbs and would be making this recipe for them exactly as you have shown in video. It would be fed 2x daily per each dog . Thanks for any help with this .
I have heard that mushrooms are bad for the dogs.. Does it mean that not all of the mushrooms are bad or a just some of them are not good for the dogs?
Idk if you reply to comments, but I have two dogs I am going to begin cooking for because its SOMEHOW cheaper than kibble, and I dont like convenience fees and like to make things myself. This will work great for my golden, but are there any tweaks I could make to the recipe for a dog who has a lot of trouble losing weight? Like typically only succeeds with 240 ish kcal/cup foods but also dont digest them well because, theyre obviously garbage. I had her on raw before with my other dog but she gained. Her thyroid is clear, I think its a spay issue.
Through the years I’ve heard grainfree diets are best for dogs. I went for many years without a dog and now in the past 2 years I’ve been told by my vet(s) that grain free diets have been linked back to heart problems in dogs. I didn’t see any grains in this diet. What is your opinion?
According to several vets I have talked to: Grain free " was like a fad diet". They are finding out that this is not the best diet. Think about what is included in a real wild diet. Predators frequently eat the internal organs and gut first. Most prey for major predators are herbivores. This usually includes "grains" or grasses. So, that means the predators are also eating grains. I feel that as long as you are feeding a nutritionally balanced varied diet you are honoring your animal family members. I like to feed a combination and rotate their diet.
My question too! Wouldn’t your higher energy dogs need carbs to replace what they use? My GSD full sprints @ every car that passes the side of our fence (approx 200ft one way)
Hey guys! Here's the recipe! Hope this helps!
Portion:
• 1.5kg (3.3lbs): 100g (3.5oz)
• 5kg (11lbs): 200g (7oz)
• 10kg (23lbs): 300g (10.6oz)
• 15kg (31lbs): 400g (14oz)
Recipe:
• 2.5% Mushrooms: Sauté with oil.
• 60% Ground Beef: Lightly brown (keep rare).
• 5% Beef Liver: Add to beef.
• 10% Root Vegetable: Pumpkin, sweet potato, etc.
• 5% Cruciferous Veg: Broccoli, kale, etc.
• 3.5% Antioxidant Fruit: Blueberries, any berry, apple, etc.
• 4% Seeds: Sprouted sunflower seeds.
• 10% Fish: Salmon or cod liver oil for omega-3s and vitamin D.
• Calcium: Egg with shell, raw meaty bone, or calcium supplement.
• Add turmeric, black pepper, and herbs like cilantro or parsley.

Percentages way too difficult to figure out! how about regular measures like cups tablespoons etc.
Chat gpt translated it for me just prompt it for whatever your dog needs per day and ask it to transfer it to your preferred measurements
Just measure cups when you make the food if you use 5 cups, 4% of that is like 1/4 cup

My dog gets diharea with beef would chicken be a good alternative plus my vet said brown rice 1/3 cup is good for my dogs ? How come you don’t use brown rice ???
Can I freeze it and for how long? Or how long can it be refrigerated?
Yes you can freeze, should be fine in the freezer. For a fridge, I wouldnt do more than 3 days because its human grade food and can go bad
Good question too,so when I do put it in the freezer, do I thaw and reheat or just thaw it and feed them?
When I feed my senior dog refrigerated food, I run hot water in the bowl to warm it and add some hot water to the food to take the chill off. He laps up the soup (as it has plenty of flavor) until the soup/gravy is nominal and then eats the solids. He has free access to clean water and a small portion of kibble that he will usually ignore until later.
How much brown rice can be added to the recipe?
How much carbs do you want your pet to get? This recipe is already is 3% carbohydrates.
I’m new to this channel, where do I find the recipe for this food. Thanks
My Maltese is allergic to animal protein. I currently cook sweet potato, fish, & pasta. I need to know what to add to it
can we use dehydrated mushrooms ?
I use cast iron. Is it ok to cook my pups food in my cast iron?
We dont feed the dog in the video?
How much turmeric and pepper?
You can consider 4mg per lb of body weight of turmeric per day and literally just a tiny pinch of pepper (that one doesn't scale with body weight)
All mushrooms that humans can eat can also be given to dogs once cooked.
PLEASE DO ONE FOR KIDNEY FAILURE DOGS PLEASEEEEEEE
No sweet potatoe?
Would you not use sweet potatoes ?
My question too! Wouldn’t your higher energy dogs need carbs to replace what they use? My GSD full sprints @ every car that passes the side of our fence (approx 200ft one way)
Is this recipe good for Dalmations?
You may need to use a diet lower in purines for long term prevention
Are these measurement pre or post cooking?
pre-cooking!
You said "canned sardines" I heard Cancer Deans. I did a double hear!
