I’m loving the format of your channel man. Just the right amount of B-role without making it boring, you show all the little yet important aspects of fishing like your rigging/setups, and you’re fishing right at my home island! Would love to fish with you sometime!
Yes. Great message at the end of the video. LET US KEEP OUR BEACHES AND WATERS CLEAN. Before I leave I collect whatever I can from the shore. There are a lot of Modelo beer cans all over the beach.
We catch them in orchard beach, the bronx. Mostly when it's summer. But,porgys taste good. I like them fried! With some white rice, salad, salsa verde(mexican style spicy sauce) 😌👨🍳🤤👍
I love fishing its my favorite pastime I just don't understand it this gentlemen is getting a hit everytime he casts out and throws them back, but poor Ol' me I go fishing for food and sometimes I'm out all night and can't even pull up a tree branch or a old car tire LOL !!!! 😂😂😂
Nice video i live fishing for this guys, I've been to LI once fishing for porgies and it was epic, im planning to go back there with my kayak it shiuld be alot of fun, i really enjiy warching your videos congrats and keep on doing this nice work
They are fun to target. Right now you can pretty much catch them anywhere on the north shore of Long Island, it's absolutely loaded with porgy. They are around day and night, fish around slack tide that seemed best. Good luck and thanks for commenting!🎣
down in the gulf we catch them on rock piles and reefs they fight really good, squid works as bait but hook it in a strip and leave a little "tail" hanging off with a size 1 to 2 hook
Newport RI has some good size Porgy. As of 9/28/24 I caught about 21 cleaned and brought 6 home gave a few to friends and others fishing around me they were snagging much but made some new friends. Get your fish license fish anytime, take what you bring discard very important. Nice video, Great stuff 👍
@@AmillionCo when fishing you need to know the rules and regulation bc they are alway changing. The size of the fish, how many you can catch. You need a saltwater license.
@@nunzi83 A lot of places are only letting town residents in though otherwise you can get a ticket. People were coming to cedar beach all the way from the city and the town noticed. Just giving a heads up
You have to get the recreational marine fishing registration. Either online from the NYS dec website or at a bait/tackle shop(Dec officers will check for it). Once you have that you're good to fish at most beaches on the island.
I think we have the same opinion of porgy fishing, not that challenging. I would much rather fish for almost anything else but you have to take what you can get. The best part of porgy fishing is the fact that you can possibly stumble upon other species by mistake like a school of cocktail blues or such.
I visited NY Father's Day 2021 with my daughter. Everywhere was blocked off as private. is this private or public? If private, can you point me to the best spot on the north shore?
Yeah long island is horrible with everything being private access. If you're looking to fish the north shore I'd check out sunken meadow. Its a state park so you can go there no problem(just have to pay the $8 or $10 fee to get in) and there's miles of beach to fish.
Your probably going to want to pickup a surf rod in the 9-10ft range. I personally like Tsunami and St Croix, they make entry level rods right up to high end level rods. As far as lures you'll want some bucktails in different weights. Plastic swim shads and swim baits work really well. Definitely pickup a diawa sp minnow, that lure slays. Some topwater poppers are also good to have.
Anyone know where is this spot? I am from PA want to go NY for porgies sometime with family. I don’t know any locations for porgy in NY. Been on a boat one time.
Pretty much anywhere on the north shore of Long Island you can catch porgy right now, they are so plentiful this year. I'd avoid going to any county or town beaches because you'll pay a lot to get in being you're not a resident. I'd look into Sunken Meadow state park, there's miles of beach and it's like $10 to get in.
I don’t know anything about NY thats why I need your help to locate where I should go. It will take me around 3 hours to get there. Look like you fish in some bays area. Any road or name I can put in gps? i just feel more comfortable to fish out here then going into the park. Thanks
We have a similar fish here in New Zealand its a bit pinker in colour but otherwise the same it grows to 30lbs plus though they are rare and hard to catch though I regularly catch them to 10lb and have caught 5 at 20lb they are hard fighting and delicious fish mostly we get them 2lb and up which are the best eating.
Nice job!! I joy this video...i,going asked you,the Andress to get to that beach. I know IT in north shore lon island ny!!!! I'm un Pennsylvania state, thank you do much for you help!!
I prefer the sport of catch & release fishing but i will harvest fish time to time. I recently put up a porgy fishing video where i kept a few for dinner actually lol.

You can always tell the north shore because of all the rocks on the shore, and more sand on the south shore.
Where’s location. I like fishing but never fishing up
Porgy are great eating fish, lot of work to clean for a little meat, but they taste great.
Good afternoon do you have to be a resident in order to fish at the north shore?
Why u dont keep ? You arent able to eat them ? And im in LI where is this location please
Can you kayak there
Retired and only gone fishing twice. I haven't done much over many years. Need to get back. Any hint on tackle?

It actually depends. I live near georgica beach and I caught a big striped bass right in front of a ranger

What’s the address of where you’re fishing
Address to that fishing spot??? Can I bring my cooler and how much keepers am I allowed?? Do I just need a regular $25 fishing license??
You need a recreational marine fishing license. It is free and you can get at the same place where you get your fresh water license.
Nice vid! Do you like the Nasci for salt?
I've been loving my Nasci. I haven't had any issues yet and I've been putting it through a ton of abuse in the salt. Even dunked it twice by accident.
