In this video i fish a local north shore beach on Long Island. Using fresh clams i just picked up, i target porgy(scup) using pre made porgy rigs that i bought at my local field & stream. I got out to the water right around low tide so the bite was slow until the switch into flood tide where i managed to get a few nice sized porgy to take home. Despite the 90* plus heat, it turned out to be a successful outing. I hope you guys enjoy the video and as always....Thanks for watching!

Porgy just like other bream tend to test the bait alot before yanking. Try to wait longer and perhaps let out a bit drag. Doing so would make it let its guard down and thus making it easier to guarantee a hook up faster.

Nice porgies my man! Question, How is Cedar beach doing with porgies? Been trying Sunken Meadow and sometimes it's great and sometimes it's slow. Looking for more consistent fishing!
When is the best time, sunrise or sunset? The north shore is teaming with porgy, I think it's been the best I've seen it.

There's really no right or wrong answer. The fish could be feeding far out from shore or they may be feeding close. Best thing to do is launch your bait way out there and every 5-10 mins move the bait closer and see where your getting the most bites. Good luck and tight lines!
