Perhaps Savathun managed to displace the Travellers pale heart or the key the Witness mentioned in the final Witchqueen campaign cutscene, onto Neptune. That would explain why that paracausal energy in the veil is linked to the Traveller and (maybe) why the Witness is so shocked when looking inside the Traveller, because something isnt where its supposed to be.
whoah whoah wait, are you saying that Savathun is essentially the reason why the Traveler has been seemingly dead for hundreds of years until we show up? Would that also mean that the Black Heart really was inside the Traveler this whole time?
Perhaps the 'Veil' is simply the name of the container holding onto the heart. And true to it's name, it's shrouding the contents within it from The Witness.
Congrats on 1 million! Only got a thought as to the final week coming. The cutscene before D2 goes down for a day. Immaru getting caught and brought to The Tower. Can only be elusive for so long and Savathun may be key to defeating The Witness in Final Shape.
Seraph's cutscene was the end of year cutscene, i doubt Bungie will play one for thouse of us in the tower at reset the day before. Wont stop people from expecting one though.
For the resurrecting Savathun part, I say we use her to bait a trap for Immaru. When he springs it, we grab him, strap a bomb collar to him, and allow him to resurrect Savathun. Then, we use this as leverage to get her to work for us, just like how Spider used the same tactic to leverage Crow.
Personally I think she would chose to help us at least for the time to help with the witness. Even during witch queen she technically was helping the traveller by hiding it in her throne world a place that the witness wouldn’t check or have an easy access to. Especially since he’d assume Rhulk was still keeping her in check unknown to the fact she had trapped rhulk and had been reborn in light
I believe that Savathun has to come back, sometime in this next year. Perhaps in Season of The Deep, which will definitely be a hive themed season. Immaru would have to revive her, and with the Witness returning and threatening the Traveler he may just change his allegiances to work with us. Plus it would be funny to have a season of him and Glint together discussing all of the stories when they hadn’t yet found their lightbearers
I feel like I need to say this, although I really doubt it. Savathun can still come back. Ather all we have her body. All she needs is Immaru. I really wonder (and this is really shooting in the dark) if the Lucent hive would ever become an ally.
Don't worry it's not too outlandish. We'd never have thought we'd have an entire house of Eliksni and the cabal throne working with us but here we are. But also, people have been speculating this exact same thing for like an entire year, since we killed Savathun.
SPOLIERS . . . . . . I feel like season of the deep is gonna be a Lucent hive season. It would make sense for them to help us since the light is helping them too.
My guess with the veil is as follows: it is something that can be used to suppress paracausal powers. The traveler is powerful, if it is not suppressed it will cast its enemies back among the stars. Savathun, during the first collapse, mimiced the veils effects upon the traveler, convincing the witness it could slay it - but this was a lie, and the traveler cast the witness away. The witness now hunts, once again, for the veil - so that it can defeat the traveler But, the veil works both ways. The witness is equally desperate to obtain it to defeat the traveler as it is to prevent its use against itself - the veil can be used to defeat the witness and it may become a tool for us guardians to use against the witness However, this is like complete speculation, so could be meaningless...
Something I want to note is the fundament shell's lore. It talks about the incantation that savathun taught a family an incantation that seemingly brought down the traveler to earth. Who's to say she didn't meet with other families. Maybe that was what the worm meant by "projected lies". Maybe it was a lie of omission, not telling the family what the incantation fully did. Maybe that incantation protected against the darkness somehow
@@DegenWeb The Rigbys did as they were told and walked south. Each night they sang, and each night their star sat lower and lower. And when it finally fell, they were safe beneath the Traveler.
11:27 I believe the “The Veil” could be the real Veil worn by the woman that you see inside the darkness ships. The statue of the woman is covered by a veil. Perhaps this woman that is made a statue of is a even powerful and divine being than the witness and the traveler.
Maybe the "Veil" is "woven" from Strand? This is starting to be my personal theory. It seems like the discovery of Strand by our Guardian is catalyzed in some way by entering Neomuna. If this is connected to the Darkness and/or the Traveler then it would explain how Strand is a Darkness power (beyond the ties to consciousness and the connection to the ability to "move worlds" of the Witness and the similar appearances of the Strand supers to Taken enemies with the single glowing eye).
@@halberd-3291 This sounds awesome. I'm pretty sure that guardians are supposed to be the first to use Strand though, so I'm not sure if its possible unfortunately.
I agree. I think the veil mentioned is the same type of veil we see in the pyramid ships and in the Deep Stone Crypt. I think the ones we have seen are the Traveler's "pieces left to place" as mentioned by The Witness, and each piece needs to be veiled in order to neutralize it.
It just occurred to me that Savathun’s statement of there being more than one Traveler in “Two Lies, Two Truths” may actually be her referencing the Veil.
I suspect even if we do end up temporarily ally with Savathun, it won't last. The current arc is doing a couple of things: 1) Establishing Light Using Villain Factions 2) Establishing the difference between the Villains and the Heroes in the overall scheme of things #1 doesn't need much more to be said - comments in the ViDoc establish even more Light using villains. #2 is basically the entire arc of the last set of seasons. Crow dealing with having been Uldren is mirrored with Savathun just going back to being Savathun, Misraaks establishing the ways in which he has changed vs. Eramis's refusal to, Ana's emphasis on Rasputin as a PERSON vs. Clovis's position on Rasputin as a thing. All of those bits are thematically linked together in establishing the expected 'norms' for things moving forward. If Savathun does make a turn to long-term ally, they really are going to need at least a season or two to lay the groundwork after literally spending an entire expac plus a season establishing her as the wrong way.
@@justxigoldenix9909 you literally just summed up Rasputins arc... xD No please i can't take another "bad guy" turned good guy self sacing again... I just, I just can't take it, not again especially so soon... xP
When I hear the Veil I think of the concept of the veil between human and spiritual worlds. I almost wonder if the Veil is a relic that creates a door to the Garden. The one where the Winnower and the Gardener played their game. Of course it's just speculation, and does raise the question of why the Witness wants to go there but who knows?
I honestly would not be surprised if a big part of Lightfall and The Final Shape actually involves Savathun and the Lucent Hive joining forces with The Last City and its Guardians to fully face down The Witness. Remember--she knows now that The Witness lied to her and her siblings, lied to her entire race, conspired with the Worm Gods to completely reshape The Hive to their whims all in their war against The Traveler. The fact that she apparently was a factor in humanity's survival by helping protect The Veil also gives an interesting new understanding to Savathun's dying words to The Traveler: "Wouldn't it be funny, if after all this, you just let me die?". Even before she knew about the Worm's betrayal and deceit, she had been working against The Witness for her own reasons whatever they were. The Hive were originally going to make contact with The Traveler--and while I don't doubt it would be an easy alliance, I truly do think that Savathun and her Lucent Hive have every reason to want to dish out their vengeance on The Witness for what it's done. And after all--wouldn't that be interesting and the most compelling finale to the Saga? Humanity's most terrifying enemy turning against The Darkness and fighting by our side to protect the Sol system? The realization that there isn't a good reason to continue hostilities against the Lucent Hive with the reckoning of a common enemy and threat? What if The Final Shape isn't the victory of the Sword Logic OR the Bomb Logic? What if it's something new entirely? Call me crazy, but I think it's not the most outlandish theory to have.
Damn man congrats on the mil, I, like many have been here since d1. Haven’t really been tracking the subscriber count but man what an achievement. Congratulations and keep doing what you love.

I find it amusing how much we were hyped about Rasputing and theorized how much he could help us... just for him to be shut down every time he tried to help at something. Huge letdown but still not as sad as Nezarec, which reeks of "we didn't know what to make out of it so here goes anything so we can get rid of it".
I got a feeling that we will come to learn that Savathun’s deception of hiding Neomuna/ the Veil was also the primary cause or one of the the reasons the Traveler has a giant chunk ripped out of it, creating the Shard in the EDZ, So final thought process is this On the Witness’s behalf Savathun and her forces attack the Traveler during the Collapse causing permanent damage and the making of the Shard, but in doing so Savathun stole the Veil from the Traveler’s being and stashed it away on Neptune somewhere in Neomuna….
The lucent hive will be the next faction to join our side. Also... I just thought of this, it wouldn't be TOO crazy for the traveler to send a ghost down to revive Rasputin *thinking face* I feel like his death was a little rushed
It's not crazy at all besides Felwinter was a fragment of Rasputin himself. Him coming back as a full blown guardian is totally believable. The sad part about that is he won't remember himself as a warmind. But I believe Ana and Elizabeth can help with that to some extent.
Judging by her reaction to finding out she and her siblings were tricked by the darkness in the campaign, it’s an easy call to say that she’d probably be on our side if she were to come back
With the things I've seen, likely not nearly enough, I think the darkness is the epitome of "as long as you remember them, they can never die". For enemies with/using the darkness, the phrase that suits in my mind in the voice of Savathun "The enemies of your enemies are your friend, Guardian? The memories of MY enemies.. are my immortality." The Witness is one that remembers, Witnessed through the Darkness the civilizations left in ruins and forgotten after it leaves. The Traveler bathed them in its light, raised them up, and then allowed them to collapses when its influence is gone. The Witness isn't just an evil out to destroy good. It's Destiny's character of revenge for the civilizations and worlds that have been lost since the Traveler had begun meddling with causality in order to keep itself alive.
A million subs let's go dude! That's huge. I've been watching your videos for a long time. Destiny's lore is the coolest (in my opinion) if any game ever made, and possibly of any sci-fi to ever exist. Thanks for all the hard word you and your mates do to bring us such refined and informative content!
It had been a theory/headcanon of mine the moment we learned about the Witness and his Disciples, and that Savathun had taken the Traveler for the sake of trying to hide it away and keep it safe, that Savathun's own goals were perhaps not so different from our own, and that the possibility that we might one day forge a relationship as allies, however tenuous, was now a very real possibility. Rasputin sacrificing himself because humanity no longer needed him further reinforces the idea in my mind that not only will Savathun be resurrected, but that we may become allies with her and her Lucent Brood. Humanity and its allies might find the idea of allying with her to be absolutely insane and borne of desperation, given what she's done and without knowing what exactly her intentions really are in the long run, but all life in the system is at the brink of termination, and an insane and desperate play may be the best and only shot we have
People keep treating the Lucent Hive like they're the same brood as Oryx or Xivu Arath's frustrate me. They're all Risen or newly hatched, they should not be considered guilty of actions they never took part in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Lucent Hive are only found on Savathun's Throne Ship. They don't have to go out to raid, since they don't Tithe.
I believe we probably will get Savathun in the fallowing season, season of the deep, the traveler has Inmaru so if the traveler gets destroyed he will probably come and try to revive her.
Congrats on the millie Byf. Watched you since Dark Below and appreciate all the lore work you’ve done. You’re the reason I bought the grimoire books last year. Here’s to 2M 👍🏾 🎉
So this is my prediction for what happened during the Collapse involving Savathûn, The Witness, The Black Fleet, Neomuna, and The Veil: Savathûn as a Disciple-in-training or auxiliary was tasked by either The Witness or Nezarec to find The Veil. She succeeds, but instead of turning it over to either, she uses it for her own ends. Using it not only to trick the Witness and frame Nezarec for the failure of the Collapse. Nezarec is deemed as a traitor and left entombed on Luna. Though like an Ahamkara or Worm God, his death didn’t mean his end. He still had vast power, including keeping Crota’s Hive away but also allowing Mithrax’s mother aboard his Pyramid to cut apart his corpse. Thus turning himself into the relics and spreading his influence. Meanwhile, Savathûn hides The Veil on what will become Neomuna. “Entrusting” it to the people of Neomuna who use it boost their technological capacity…as well as remain hidden. Savathûn then continued plotting out different plans and contingencies for possible futures. Eventually settling with removing her Worm and taking a gamble to become a Lightbearer. She would also then seal The Traveler in her Throne World as it’s protectors along with her Lucent Brood. Which we stopped her…but in doing so, actually played into The Witnesses hands. I’m guessing the Witness didn’t strike after Arrivals in order to make final preparations. Including dealing with Savathûn, finding a new Disciple (doing so in Calus), and trying to bring Guardians into it’s service. Oh, and secure The Veil proper this time.
Hell, you could even frame Savathun "gifting" Calus the Crown of Sorrow as a way to deny The Witness a new Disciple. And it almost worked. According to one of the repressed memories found in Duality, after the Crown took over Galhran, The Witness (well the voice in Calus' head) 'vanished'. Didn't help that The Witness was pleading with Calus to just forget about the Crown. As it was clearly a trap and any measures Calus took to work around it would fail. Hence why Calus was obsessed to try and reestablish their communications.
I’m still just really, really sad that Rasputin is gone… Part of me honestly hopes that a copy of him, or maybe just a semblance of him, is present on Nefele stronghold in an isolated area… disconnected from the Warsats so his sacrifice in this season was not in vain, but still able to lead to his eventual return… And if he does return… somehow… I hope new Warsats can make their return too… those seem like too good weapons to just never make more of them… even if they were destroyed for a good reason…
I believe the Veil might be related to the garden in which Light and Dark first started their game at the beginning of creation and that it could be used to tip the scales into the favor of whichever side uses it. Wishing for the game to continue, rather than use it, The Traveler would keep it out of hands of The Witness who knowing this is hoping to use it to end the game once and for all and to have Darkness ultimately triumph. Or ya know, something we eventually turn into a gun. Either way, I'm sure we'll have a better understanding of what it is come Lightfall and I can't wait.
The Nine mentioned the Veil in one of the Lore tab Reextinction. Mind you they were largely talking about the Ahamkara but they mentioned laying themselves bare before the Veil.
We have a season of the deep. The deep, for Destiny, makes most think of Fundament. I could see Savathun coming back in that expansion, maybe we meet Taox. Now for the Veil, what if were taking what a Veil is to literally? It is something that obscures, but it can also be something you wear, so maybe Light falls because the Sphere is gone, but because we secured the Veil, it gives the Traveler a "Physical Form" like the Witness. That is why the witness needs to keep the veil from the Traveler, they would be on equal footing if the traveler got the Veil.
Does anyone else think that the veil might be (if a place) the missing part of the Traveler thats missing on its bottom half? I know the shard in the EDZ is also a piece of it as well but who knows, can’t wait for Lightfall!
My guess, the Veil is the "pale heart" that the Witness said was the key at the end of Witch Queen. However in Vox Obsura one of the vision alongs side Eramis and Leviathan returning was "Traveller infected with Darkness" and in Vow the wall says "Witness communes with Traveller and drinks the Light". So i feel the Witness isnt looking to destroy the Traveller but instead trying to gain the Light. That way he would have the Light and all his Darkness powers and try make himself into the Final Shape.
@@phenik403Rasputin confirmed “the veil” is an object of paracausle energy connected to the traveler. Perhaps it’s linked to the being of the light like how the witness is to the darkness

I think that the traveler sees much more than what humanity can perceive, our goals may be noble yes, but the traveler knows far more than us. It knows that humanity with all its power even with the light it gives isn’t enough. The cabal uniting with humanity, the eliksni joining our fight, and now rumors of “malfunctioning” vex who showed signs of independent action against how they SHOULD behave? I think the traveler is playing a clever game that no one sees, to bring together all alien races and factions who once fought eachother and wared over the light to now unite with humanity to defend it against the witness. The traveler willingly gave savathun the light. The traveler knew it would be safe in savathuns thrown world. We were still able to use the light when it was there or almost there. Would we have still been able to use it when it was fully inside her thrown world? Who knows, but savathun warned us that we had made a huge mistake at the end of the witch Queen campaign. And honestly, I can’t help but feel we should she was right.
I will he honest, bungie\destiny wouldn't be the same without your channel my friend. You being so many puzzles together for us new and old players. I very much appreciate your work.
Maybe "the Veil" is something that can be used to either defeat or deter the Witness. The name "Witness" in a literal sense means "one who has seen" and a veil is typically meant to prevent something from being seen. All in all, I am EXTREMELY hyped for Lightfall, more so than any other expansion or season since September 2014.
I don't think it's unlikely for Savathun to come back, the theme I'm getting is that we don't need gods when we have each other, we've allied with the Cabal, the Eliksni, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up allying with the hive as well
I personally believe that the person that deleted the files was Elsie, she has the fish so must know of Neomuna in someway and from past the past may have learned that the witness was looking for it on mars
It's telling how ingrained the years of speculation and rumor are that people are still referring to The Veil as "they" when Rasputin refers to it as "An object." As in "A thing, not a person or place."

Holy shit you might be right!
Now thats a raging clue!
@@woundedhealer8575 But there is still this thing called the veil maybe it’s connected to the traveler in some way or another form
???
Seraph's cutscene was the end of year cutscene, i doubt Bungie will play one for thouse of us in the tower at reset the day before. Wont stop people from expecting one though.
For the resurrecting Savathun part, I say we use her to bait a trap for Immaru. When he springs it, we grab him, strap a bomb collar to him, and allow him to resurrect Savathun. Then, we use this as leverage to get her to work for us, just like how Spider used the same tactic to leverage Crow.
That’s actually a fantastic idea.
Man thats kinda fucking dark, also wouldnt crow be super against this since the same thing happened to him?
@@cookiemuffin3208 We could always remind him of what happened the last time he let his morals get in the way of protecting humanity.
Yes Officer, this one right here, he's the Spider Spy posing as a City Citizen.
We would have to give Immaru back the body for him to resurrect her, since we yoinked it.
@@SeanCrosser doesn't need the body. Just a single cell of her. This was described in an old lore card

I'm sure she will. We will need her knowledge and power, if not to fight the Witness, then definitely Xivu Arath.
Probably in season of the deep maybe an alliance with the lucent brood
Given that her ghost imaru survived and we watched him teleport away and he actually has a character I feel like savathune has to come back.
Debra Wilson is a great voice actor. I hope she comes back.
If savathun comes back in season of the deep I kinda hope caital because the story dynamic for those 2 would be amazing
The witness now hunts, once again, for the veil - so that it can defeat the traveler
But, the veil works both ways. The witness is equally desperate to obtain it to defeat the traveler as it is to prevent its use against itself - the veil can be used to defeat the witness and it may become a tool for us guardians to use against the witness
However, this is like complete speculation, so could be meaningless...
It was to guide the family to where the traveler would fall. Not to bring the traveler down
@@DegenWeb The Rigbys did as they were told and walked south.

Bungie I want this right here!
@@icarysss That's a good point but the Guardian would still be the first user of Strand, being in Neomuna would just be a catalyst? Idk.
It just occurred to me that Savathun’s statement of there being more than one Traveler in “Two Lies, Two Truths” may actually be her referencing the Veil.
Congrats again on the 1M milestone my man! Keep that sweet lore daddy content coming ❤
I suspect even if we do end up temporarily ally with Savathun, it won't last. The current arc is doing a couple of things:
1) Establishing Light Using Villain Factions
2) Establishing the difference between the Villains and the Heroes in the overall scheme of things
#1 doesn't need much more to be said - comments in the ViDoc establish even more Light using villains.
@@justxigoldenix9909 you literally just summed up Rasputins arc... xD

Congrats for 1 million Byf! You’ve inspired me to get back deep into the game and really focus on the lore of this massive game.
The Garden doesn't exist. It's metaphor, one which the Vex simulated with the Black Garden
I mean, what if that’s that weird light the Witness is looking at in the trailer?
Been watching your videos since d1 house of wolves. Been quite the ride, and I'm glad you found the success you deserve. Congratulations on 1mil, Byf

I got a feeling that we will come to learn that Savathun’s deception of hiding Neomuna/ the Veil was also the primary cause or one of the the reasons the Traveler has a giant chunk ripped out of it, creating the Shard in the EDZ,
So final thought process is this
On the Witness’s behalf Savathun and her forces attack the Traveler during the Collapse causing permanent damage and the making of the Shard, but in doing so Savathun stole the Veil from the Traveler’s being and stashed it away on Neptune somewhere in Neomuna….
Wait a second. I thought I wasn't supposed to learn anything else before lightfall, Byf!
1 million! Congratulations Byf, it's all deserved!
Much love
The lucent hive will be the next faction to join our side.
Also... I just thought of this, it wouldn't be TOO crazy for the traveler to send a ghost down to revive Rasputin *thinking face*
I feel like his death was a little rushed
It's not crazy at all besides Felwinter was a fragment of Rasputin himself. Him coming back as a full blown guardian is totally believable.
The sad part about that is he won't remember himself as a warmind. But I believe Ana and Elizabeth can help with that to some extent.
they even call him a "guardian" a few times, gotta mean something
@@ursa64 the guardian of Humanity I believe is what he was called.
Congrats on hitting the 1 milli mark Byf! Can't wait for all the new lore content when lightfall drops!
Judging by her reaction to finding out she and her siblings were tricked by the darkness in the campaign, it’s an easy call to say that she’d probably be on our side if she were to come back
Congrats my guy. 1M been a long time coming. I'll be here for the rest of them!
With the things I've seen, likely not nearly enough, I think the darkness is the epitome of "as long as you remember them, they can never die". For enemies with/using the darkness, the phrase that suits in my mind in the voice of Savathun "The enemies of your enemies are your friend, Guardian? The memories of MY enemies.. are my immortality."
The Witness is one that remembers, Witnessed through the Darkness the civilizations left in ruins and forgotten after it leaves.
Congratulations on hitting 1 mil

So this is my prediction for what happened during the Collapse involving Savathûn, The Witness, The Black Fleet, Neomuna, and The Veil:
Savathûn as a Disciple-in-training or auxiliary was tasked by either The Witness or Nezarec to find The Veil.
@@jordanread5829 why does the crown generate the darkness fungus then
Congrats on 1 MILLION BYF!!
I’m still just really, really sad that Rasputin is gone…
Part of me honestly hopes that a copy of him, or maybe just a semblance of him, is present on Nefele stronghold in an isolated area… disconnected from the Warsats so his sacrifice in this season was not in vain, but still able to lead to his eventual return…
And if he does return… somehow… I hope new Warsats can make their return too… those seem like too good weapons to just never make more of them… even if they were destroyed for a good reason…
It's been too long since I've sat in for one of Loremaster Byf's scripts. Congratulations on your 1 million!
Does anyone else think that the veil might be (if a place) the missing part of the Traveler thats missing on its bottom half? I know the shard in the EDZ is also a piece of it as well but who knows, can’t wait for Lightfall!
Can't wait as well! But yes that shard and the other shards in the EDZ are everything missing on the bottom, the Veil is certainly something separate
The veil is somehow supposed to be related to the darkness. It could be a part of the traveler but the two forces they control doesn’t really fit in
My guess, the Veil is the "pale heart" that the Witness said was the key at the end of Witch Queen.
@@fishnutz5196 I agree, that also makes us a massive threat to the witness, since we already have light and darkness. That would also explain why the witness has been trying to make us a disciple.

Maybe "the Veil" is something that can be used to either defeat or deter the Witness.
