Then faith we’d unwittingly carry out her machinations enabling her plans to even be possible by restoring her memories.
I'm glad you looked at the lore tabs for the exotic glaives!!! I think it's really interesting that each glaive is tied to each of the different hive gods (look at the last word of the blurbs: cunning for Savathûn, ambition for Oryx, and strength for Xivu Arath) and that there seems to now be the beginning of new Books of Sorrow, called the Books of Rememberance. Instead of these telling the genesis of the hive, they tell the story of the hive's rebirth in the light. On my next Ted talk: the parallels between Oryx and Moses, Savathûn and Jesus, and Xivu Arath and Mohammad.
I'm so glad you shared these lore entries Byf, it finally makes sense how Savathun even knew how to put her plan in motion or where her throne was. I think we need a video about Immaru specifically though, and just how deep he is in all this and wether he and Savathun met before her death and rise?
I think that Dark Savathun must have left the worm familiar for us to find. Why else would she build an entire temple to her former self to hide it in, just like the other memory artifacts? It also seems to have been specifically locked out of the Pool of Reflection, so maybe Light Savathun wasn't supposed to know about it until the final battle, like she planned for us to win this fight all along
If the Worm familiar in the temple of sathona was intentionally left by Savathûn why would Her alter of reflection prevent us ingres to unlock it? It more likely that Darkness Savathûn didn't actual know about the worm familiar memory otherwise if she did why did she act surprised by it.
I had assumed he was one of the ghosts that read the books of sorrow and felt pity and kinship with the hive and made his shell in their style out of reverence of The hive.
Pretty sure there's a lore tab from Throne World that hints at the origin of the Hive "shell" and the Light. TLDR: that's not a shell, that's the Ghosts' skin... well, bone. But it's organic, unlike the shells on our Ghost. Ours are modular components
@@Tftapodcast I considered that maybe the traveler makes ghosts look friendly/familiar to whatever race it's raising. Robots were plenty familiar to humans, and the bone of immaru and finch would be familiar to hive.

Loving the content as usual. But i've noticed the last few videos have pretty low volume. It's quite hard to listen while i work, even with speakers at max level. Would be nice to have it boosted a bit.
Savathûn talking about the Witness' many selves reminds me of the updated Override dialogue from Mithrax about Skira, the Watcher. Considering Watcher and Witness mean relatively the same thing, it wouldn't be a far stretch to assume Skira is one of the Witness' selves
Possibly multiple different bodies. For example we see the Witness build itself a new one out of the black liquid in the final cutscene of Witch Queen.
Eh, hopefully The Witness ends up being turned into an exotic sidearm or rocket launcher that shoots face rockets at enemies & does fart noises as you reload.
I assume a conscious made of multiple minds. Possibly multiple bodies associated with them. Kind of like the borg in star trek. One big hive mind with a ton of bodies.
I can't find an answer for one question: How did she know that traveler will resurrect her as we see in the cutscene she asks traveler to just let her die. Please tell me byf...
There is none. her resurrection was a complete gamble. Even she wasn't sure that the traveler would resurrect her. in the video its shown in the cutscene. She became the traveler's supplicant in hopes to be blessed as well, like she says it would be would be an elegant trick if it simply let her die.
@@Hotdog_wadder though, knowing savathun, she isn't one for gambling. My guess is she figured out a way to influence the decision. Maybe she learned what the traveler looks for, or the right words to say. I don't think it was a true 50/50 chance.

Also I'm honestly pretty upset with the whole copyright stuff going on, especially with how it's affecting my friends and what they do. Hopefully things improve within the coming days.
@regicide yeah because darkness has no definite shape. I think there was a lore piece that said he is shapeless. The way he also entered in that final cut scene also looks as if he formed from darkness and kind of just made a shape out of it. If we defeat the witness in lightfall then i wonder what happens in "the final shape" that relates to the light and dark saga. Maybe the reason why there seems to be many versions of the witness is because they are clones of his true self, which we havent seen yet
@@mrxerxes7947 I don't exactly remember a lore piece saying that. Neither does my buddy who is really obsessed with pyramid stuff. Where does it say it?
So far me and my friend believe there is a being higher than the Witness. Him more than me. I'm more convinced now though after looking into stuff related to the veiled statues, and looking back on Unveiled and the second conversation in the BoS with Oryx and the Deep.
@Gabriel-CXVII same. If we defeat the witness in lightfall then what is the point of the final shape? Also the witness wears the darkness like a cloak, i have a feeling in the final shape we will meet the one who makes the darkness aka the winnnower, possibly. If the witness is truly the highest in the ranks of the darkness then should beat him in the final shape
She grew it when she gained the light. Just the like the hive lightbearers look different. When the get resurrected it changes their bone structure and she grew a crown.
There were other small aspects of her appearance on her chitin armor that changed, The ghosts use surrounding matter to create it like our first set of armor which was also made from surrounding matter.
@@toddboward4771 I could see Savathun's crown being a Warlock armor piece. "Crown of Lies" Intristic Trait: Liar in the Light. Granting allies Super energy also grants you Super energy.
I assume Savanthun cant be dead, if anything by betraying the Witness and the incredible power of the darkness she put a giant target on her back so her faking her death at the hands of guardians might be the best way to temporarily avoid the wrath of the witness.
Or, because she has Immaru, she actually just permitted her own death because she foresees us allowing her to return to life (to be fair, I foresee this too and she’s a lot smarter than me), thus allowing her to skip through the dangerous times.
I was unbelievably caught off guard by this cutscene, it's flipped our perspective of how the whole of the Light, at least our understanding of it and even the Traveler itself operates

The copyright strike groans aside, I, as well as your community will continue to follow and look for your insight on this matter. Thanks to you and your team for providing amazing content that expands on an already amazing game
Man, I'm not even upset that Savathun or the Hive were given the Light. I'm upset that even after given a relatively fresh start, there was just no path for us to ally together. Her power, knowledge and wisdom would've brought us all one large step closer to defeating the Witness, on top of a massive increase in Lightbearer numbers, but her grand plan was to take the Traveler for herself and doom the rest of the universe? It makes me wonder what her reaction would've been if we dealt with Rhulk first, especially since Savathun considered him unkillable even with her newly empowered state and in her own Throneworld. Maybe that'll be the thing that changes her plans and finally make her ally with us. Edit: Also, the Witness's "many selves"? Interesting, especially considering the Prophecy wall predicting the Witness gaining the Light, and the fact that Light is at its most powerful when many are working together. Definitely a dark reflection of the Guardians indeed, and somehow a much larger escalation of the stakes...
My take is that Savathun believes not even the Light can defeat the Witness (despite the trash talking). And that without protection no Matter What we do the Witness Will arrive and compromise the Traveller. She would seal herself and the Traveller away from the universe inside her throne world for Eternity, where the Witness would never be able to reach her. And then, she would essentially have a paradise for the Traveller and her brood. Even if outside the Throne world the Witness has won. Now the Traveller is once more completely unprotected to a situation like the red War even if guardians are present. So the Witness can still arrive and reach to the Traveller more easily Than if It was in the Throne world.
@@gabrielpineirogarcia2078 I think those are reasonable assumptions that she made, but clearly she believed that the Light and by extension Guardians are powerless against even Rhulk. While the former may be true, we've displayed the latter to be false thanks to our ability to balance Light and Dark together. It makes me wonder though, if Savathun believes the Light couldn't defeat the Witness even if it could trap a Disciple, how could she be sure that the Throneworld really could keep out the Witness itself? And judging from the seasonal side of the story, the plan was to stitch the Throneworld back into reality on the moon to some extent, which would... bring the Traveler back into the universe? I just feel like either she was lying to us about some aspect of her plans to demoralize us, or she didn't think her plan through. So, probably the former on this one.
@@MelancholicBodhisattva to my knowledge I assume Savathun sealing away the Traveller in the Throne world would leave her world completely isolated, and shed trick the Witness (Who would be headed to Earth because thats where the Traveller was Last seen while flying past Mars and the lure (she has already duped the Witness before) As for the psio OPS story... Well thatd be plan B. And likely Savathun didnt orchestrate It but Immaru. Since Immaru is more keen on draining the light of Guardians and to use "Ghost Killers". And said plan B would be 'if we cant bring the Traveller to the Throne world, we bring the Throne world to the Traveller " you can tell its a much more "sloppy" and straightforward plan that doesnt match Savathuns carefully spun plans that are calculated to the smallest detail.
I have personally interpreted it as her taking a toy away from a child. We have done nothing to prepare for what’s coming, and she knows exactly what is coming. While she may have been locking it away, she either has to make a move now or watch as we play in the sand when there’s a tornado coming.
I freaking love the way they've done the characterization for Savathun. I haven't felt so simultaneously convinced by a character's convictions yet so incredibly suspect about every single thing that a character in a video game has said since Handsome Jack, and anyone who's played Borderlands 2 would know how absolutely scheming that horrid man is. A woman willing to see herself killed to fulfil her grand design, having already set the pieces in motion to trick her enemy into helping her remember what that design was in the first place. Part of me wants to believe that her intentions were genuine - that she had the Traveler's best interests in heart, wanting to seal it away in her Throne World so the Witness could not claim it, but she did so knowing that she would need to contend with humanity and their Guardians to see it done. Ultimately, she failed, but we're yet to learn whether or not killing Savathun was truly in our best interests. Best video game storytelling I've had the pleasure to experience in years, and as someone who rarely ever sets aside the time to read lore cards, I deeply appreciate the work you do, Byf. Keep it up!
Clearly she doesn't have the travelers best interest in mind, but neither does humanity, zavala said so himself that we fight for humanity, not the traveler, I bet savathun just wants to do the same with the hive
I feel like Savathun planned for her second death as well. If she knew she would gain the Light, there's no way she didn't plan events after her death. She'll come back when Immaru knows it's time to initiate the next part of her plan.
please turn your mic volume up, the past handful of lore videos have been super soft and I have to crank the volume to be able to hear what you're saying
The copyright BS needs to stop. I'm happy knowing Bungie is taking action against these copyright strikes. Also, Byf, what do you think about the hints towards a Rasputin season going on? Do you think we'll see Rasputin return soon? Regain his power? Maybe even a return of SIVA?
I’m not sure if was an oversight on bungie’s part, but the fact that Imaru already had a hive shell when he came across Savathun is highly suspect, making me think it’s really wasn’t the traveler’s will but that of Imaru, who possibly already had a deal with Savathun, and her final words an act to throw doubt our way once we viewed her memories
Yeah, I can't shake this feeling too! It maybe that Bungie just made one asset/look for Immaru and they just placed that in the cutscene or there is a deeper reason why, and we will find out about it as we delve deeper into this year's story
I don't think it's canon that Ghosts can change their shells. I know we the players can, because that's just a good way to make money, but in canon I don't think it's possible to change your Ghost shell.
is it me, or is there a setting that is not turning my volume to max to hear your video. When a commercial starts to play I have to rush to turn it down but when your video starts to play again I have to turn my volume to max again....
So Rhulk didn’t know anything about ghosts so maybe the witness only shares with their disciples what they feel they need to know… Also I wonder if clarity control is another disciple and if all of them have different abilities and powers? Like Rhulk to me screamed “Wrath” so maybe each of the disciples embody particular aspect of life… like Pride, Greed and Envy.
Well, Rhulk knows one Ghost You can read the Lore entry from the RAID Mission! I mean there is a Ghost you can unlock and There is the Lore entry it's the one Ghost with a coat
Nah Rhulk is pride dude has the biggest ego ever constantly thinking he's on the witness level believing he was the pinnacle of everything wrath if it was a disciple would be xivu arath y'know the one who's constantly referred to as wrathful
Pride: Rhulk constantly believing he is on the witness level not fully understanding the witness' logic just to fit his ego Wrath: Xivu arath the hive god who's fury knows no bound the most emotional loyal and cruel of the 3 gods Greed: could be the fanatic I guess seeing he collects fallen into his army constantly Gluttony: Calus and not because he's fat and eats a lot gluttony goes deeper into a lack of self control and a addiction towards the thrill and fun in life which screams Calus Envy: I suppose eramis she's envied the guardians her whole life jealous of what the guardians have so she abandons it and turns to the darkness Sloth: unknown for me at least probably a original character who's only after they're own self interest only caring about themselves Lust: again unknown
While the blade was bound with other components when we turned it into the Enigma, I like to think that the blade itself that we retrieve was called something else. There's only one befitting name for a blade gifted to the First Disciple, with such a strong connection to Darkness. All I could call it, at least, was The First Knife, after the metaphorical knife that the Winnower used, heralding the end of the original Flower Game. There isn't much proof, sure, but it just seems to make sense to me. I hope that relic's lore is expanded enough that there is an answer for what it is...
Unrelated but there has been a lot of talk about what Ana bray says in the exotic glave mission: sort of spoiler warning. To do with nefele stronghold. I was thinking about it when a friend of mine proposed his theory which makes a lot of sense to me. Lots of people have already made the connection between nefele to the Greek myth of nephele which translates to cloud nymph or something along those lines. He proposed that perhaps this refers to the traveler itself, and that at some point RAS put some form of contingency or defense inside the traveller itself..
If I'm not mistaken (going off memory): In the "Dark Future" lorebook, wasn't it Rasputin that helped track down The Traveller again after it left Earth? It's very possible that Rasputin has definitely got something on/in the traveller.

Hello Byf, I have a suggestion that could be a possibility later on, but it doesn’t retain to the lore, but the suggestion is on the question of what would happen if we lost our connection to the Traveler and it’s possibilities such as Stasis take control like what happen with Eramis. But this is all an assumption and it’s up to you.
People are still trying to say "she stole the light" or that she "took" the light but she was chosen. And not just chosen, her ghost was even saved by the Traveler. Clearly she is important to the Traveler. (Even more important than Cayde too if you think about it because it just let that man die lol). Side note but the audio for this video is insanely quiet.
The audio for lots of his recent stuff has been really quiet. Really makes the advertisement breaks that much more jarring, going from Byf's smooth and quiet tones to the sudden "BOSS, PEOPLE AREN'T PLAYING OUR CASINO APP ANYMORE! Just putting this out there well after this video went live: Bungie at least planned for The Witness to be a plurality condensed into a single being since "The Witch Queen". It wasn't until Season of the Deep that we learned the origin of The Witness as we know it. Probably not relevant for any lore reasons, just interesting seeing this video pop back into my recommended feed well after both reveals from both the Warlock raid bond and the SotD lore.

@@zacktheslasher3794 Ill be honest, I dont think she expects us to believe it. Its so blatantly obvious that it seems like she isnt lying to manipulate us, shes just toying around. In fact, throughout most of Witch Queen, she genuinely seems like shes just playing games and teasing. It isnt until we reveal the Witnesses deception that she gets serious and lashes out. But even that is done by the end, where she conveys that this whole time it was just her trying to do what she thought was right to win, in her own way. And that now that shes dead, its up to us to do it our way. And either win or lose because of it. This gets backed up even more through the reflections quests. On my next Ted talk: the parallels between Oryx and Moses, Savathûn and Jesus, and Xivu Arath and Mohammad.
Ayo lemme hear that next Ted talk
Oryx and Moshe? Easy! It’s the tablets!
@@Lilithksheh7723 savathun and Jesus is rebirth or defying death I suppose
Sort of a dark mirror of each of them? Yeah I can see that.
Send it on that next ted talk
We should have just let Immaru keep the exotic glaives for the Lucent hive it would have made them really easy to deal with😂
I would love Glaives for Lucent hive. Theyd get the arcstrider subclass.
Would it though? I love the Hunter exotic glaive. Chain lightning, faster reload, and (it feels like) faster movement speed.
The amount of manipulation in her voice when she’s says “if you simply let me die” is astounding

Did anyone else find it odd that Immaru already had a Hive ghost shell instead of the basic one before reviving Savathun?
I had assumed he was one of the ghosts that read the books of sorrow and felt pity and kinship with the hive and made his shell in their style out of reverence of
The hive.
Pretty sure there's a lore tab from Throne World that hints at the origin of the Hive "shell" and the Light.
TLDR: that's not a shell, that's the Ghosts' skin... well, bone. But it's organic, unlike the shells on our Ghost. Ours are modular components
@@CMTechnica that's......genuinely disturbing on an intimate level
@@Tftapodcast I considered that maybe the traveler makes ghosts look friendly/familiar to whatever race it's raising. Robots were plenty familiar to humans, and the bone of immaru and finch would be familiar to hive.
It is worth nothing that Immaru didn’t always have that Shell too. So it seems they can adapt to different species aesthetics pretty much on the fly
Not sure if this will be seen or not, but i found a reference of how long there have been hints at savathun stealing the light, the ship from forsaken "unfinal shapes" talking about eris seeing a throne world made for the light, might have information thats useable somehow, or just an interesting tidbit showing how far back her plans reach
Savathun is one of the best Destiny characters. I doubt that this was her end.
Nothing made me go from "Triumphant savior and god-killer" to "oh god oh no did I just ruin everything" so quickly as Savathun saying "Just don't say I didn't warn you"

Loving the content as usual. But i've noticed the last few videos have pretty low volume. It's quite hard to listen while i work, even with speakers at max level. Would be nice to have it boosted a bit.
Is there going to be a playlist for these? I'm enjoying all of these videos so far.
Savathûn talking about the Witness' many selves reminds me of the updated Override dialogue from Mithrax about Skira, the Watcher. Considering Watcher and Witness mean relatively the same thing, it wouldn't be a far stretch to assume Skira is one of the Witness' selves
The Witness having many selves is... disconcerning. Does this mean many appearances, or something more nefarious?
Possibly multiple different bodies. For example we see the Witness build itself a new one out of the black liquid in the final cutscene of Witch Queen.
Eh, hopefully The Witness ends up being turned into an exotic sidearm or rocket launcher that shoots face rockets at enemies & does fart noises as you reload.
I assume a conscious made of multiple minds. Possibly multiple bodies associated with them. Kind of like the borg in star trek. One big hive mind with a ton of bodies.
Surprised u still uploaded
I can't find an answer for one question:
How did she know that traveler will resurrect her as we see in the cutscene she asks traveler to just let her die.
@@benstanfill363 yes, you are correct. Her recital of the bravery leads to sacrifice… etc could imply she at least studied (when she was Osiris) or realize what others believed made a guardian and her potentially following that path. because she new the light must have been correct path it would at least sway the traveler to resurrect her.
@@Hotdog_wadder exactly. I don't think the traveler is omnipotent. I think it heard her speech, watched her plan against rhulk etc and said well she seems legit, which she may very well be. She really might want to protect and serve the traveler, she just doesn't care about us.
She studied light as Osiris.
She knew what's needed to become guardian: Bravery, sacrefice and death.
You and your team do a great job at telling the story that many of us may miss inadvertently.
I hope the issues you're facing with the channel marks resolve themselves and everyone sees the value that comes from your content.
As always, great content. Thank you for making it and I'll look forward to your next piece of content.
I find it interesting that Savathûn says The Witness has "many selves". Must be connected to how he refers to himself as a unit.
@Gabriel-CXVII i think it was a byf or evade video all the wsy back when witch queen was just released. I dont remember the exact lore piece
One question still remains. Where did the Savathûn's crown come from and is it an armor piece, beause she didn't have it before she gained the Light.
I want it as an Exotic armor soooooo bad
It's a crown Savathun probably found in an abandoned Toys R' Us.

Glad your channel is back Just saw that some creators got banded
Byf the voice audio on your videos is much lower than a lot of my other subscriptions. Anyone else?
Truth be told, I saw that coming a mile away. I mean, there were plenty of hints in the marketing.
Honestly, on what happened with savathun before the light is just beautiful
Asking the internet to go on a witch hunt is like asking the tides to turn back. lol Great vid
You are literally a huge reason why I know what is going on in the destiny and bungie universe.
@@MelancholicBodhisattva to my knowledge I assume Savathun sealing away the Traveller in the Throne world would leave her world completely isolated, and shed trick the Witness (Who would be headed to Earth because thats where the Traveller was Last seen while flying past Mars and the lure (she has already duped the Witness before)
As for the psio OPS story...
Watching this before Bungie takes it down
I freaking love the way they've done the characterization for Savathun.
Bro thank you so much. I was looking for this missing piece of lore to fully understand the beginning and end of The witch queen. Great video 🙆🏻♂️❤

I feel like Witch Queen is less about Savathuon and the Lucent Hive, and more about the Witness and getting ready for the finale of Destiny 2.

Does that make Calus the potential Gluttony if he becomes a Disciple?
Well, Rhulk knows one Ghost
You can read the Lore entry from the RAID Mission!
I mean there is a Ghost you can unlock and There is the Lore entry it's the one Ghost with a coat
Wrath: Rhulk
Greed: Xivu Arath
Envy: Fikrul
Pride: Eramis
Gluttony: Calus
Sloth: *Unknown*
Lust: 👀
Nah Rhulk is pride dude has the biggest ego ever constantly thinking he's on the witness level believing he was the pinnacle of everything wrath if it was a disciple would be xivu arath y'know the one who's constantly referred to as wrathful
Pride: Rhulk constantly believing he is on the witness level not fully understanding the witness' logic just to fit his ego
Wrath: Xivu arath the hive god who's fury knows no bound the most emotional loyal and cruel of the 3 gods
Greed: could be the fanatic I guess seeing he collects fallen into his army constantly
Gluttony: Calus and not because he's fat and eats a lot gluttony goes deeper into a lack of self control and a addiction towards the thrill and fun in life which screams Calus
Envy: I suppose eramis she's envied the guardians her whole life jealous of what the guardians have so she abandons it and turns to the darkness
Sloth: unknown for me at least probably a original character who's only after they're own self interest only caring about themselves
Lust: again unknown
Dayum so it was Savathun who beat up Rhulk's pyramid. Thats pretty badass.
Love your video's. Just wanted to point out your video's lately have had low volume levels on youtube.
Now there's a theory in the making, what if the Traveler worked with Rasputin in one way or another to create the Ghosts.
If I'm not mistaken (going off memory): In the "Dark Future" lorebook, wasn't it Rasputin that helped track down The Traveller again after it left Earth? It's very possible that Rasputin has definitely got something on/in the traveller.
@@Jaeden_Phoenix Nah, Rasputin used devices designed by Clovis Bray to track the Travelers light.
@@y0u_called I mean clovis did harness a mixture of vex milk and whatever the darnkess substance was to make the exos, who are one of the three classes in our entire game to be deemed to weild the light.
Hey Byf, I wanted ask if there may be a video in the future discussing the concept that without her worm- Savathuun is no longer *compelled* to spin lies? Like sure she can be a dick if she wants but she was just as trust worthy as any other person you'd be suspicious of in her time as a light bearer. Not to be trusted but isn't necessarily lying anymore
Maybe, but dont forget martian missives lore books, which is savathun lying to us through hacked hidden transmissions
No Martian lore books is still her lying to us after getting the light
Where its just her answering all the lingering questions. I dont think shes lying in them either, it seems more like her coming clean than anything else.
