      Unity is the rare example of a AAA game where the PC version is actually the definitive version and not an afterthought.

      I played the game on PS4 last year and the only bug I experienced was the clothes of npcs popping in and out (although it was far from being as bas as in the video, it was just one or two from time to time) Ubisoft definitely did a great job of fixing the game.

    • @TheBakeryASMR
      @TheBakeryASMR  3 роки тому +5

      @@rootpower8664 I never played it at launch, so I can't speak to how it used to be. I definitely enjoy the setting a lot, but I can say the clothes issue is repeatable on PS4. If you look at any large crowd and point your reticle at it, only NPCs within a few meters of the reticle will have their textures fully loaded. But as I say in the video, performance issues barely factor into how I feel about the setting.

    As a Portuguese man, I must mention Rogue's rendering perfectly the Lisbon setting, albeit small. The inclusion of a historical tragedy (the Lisbon earthquake) and the rendering of Terreiro do Paço in 1755 looks amazing. And the NPCs speaking Portuguese during the earthquake, calling out for their loved ones by name (I can's overlook the 'Inês, onde estás', meaning 'Inês, where are you', being that Inês is my daughter's name) is such an amazing detail.

    25:22 Alexandria isn't under roman influence, Cyrene is better example of what you wanted to say, it was roman territory during time period in the game (Alexandria was roman after Cleopatra married Ceasar)
    Alexandria is much more greek, because Ptolemaic dynasty is from Greece - typical greek architecture, culture and day to day activities, even music you can hear on streets is greek

      Egypt didn’t become part of the Roman Empire until after the death of Cleopatra, i.e. 30 BC, when it became the property of Octavian, Julius Caesar’s grand-nephew, to whom the senate gave the name Augustus in 27 BC. Caesar didn’t marry Cleopatra; they had an affair which resulted in the birth of a son, Caesarion. Caesar had a legal wife, Calpurnia, at the time back in Rome.

    I agree Unity is a bit bloated but there is an amazing game at the core with strong coop missions, heists, and some quests like the murder mysteries. I think the stealth and flow is unparalleled for AC which is why it would be my number 1. Paris becomes more and more appreciated once you dedicate to mastering the game. The lighting, interior spaces, movement animations, and details in windows are also incredible.
    I have to add I haven’t faced many graphical bugs in my several days of time on Xbone.

    • @TheBakeryASMR
      @TheBakeryASMR  3 роки тому +14

      Very, very good points! There is a lot of awesome stuff and while I have problems with the game as a whole, the world built there is really good. It’s just that following a game like AC4 that felt so alive in a way that were unique to the era it was representing, Paris felt flat when it came to mission design. Sometimes I go back to AC4 and go whaling and I listen to my crew sing songs, or I pop into syndicate and go for a drive or chase the train or fight in the fight club or free some child laborers, all things that were so unique to those time periods. The activities in Unity have never held me as well and I didn’t feel myself getting as immersed in that setting once the awe of the detailed world wears off. Still, you definitely make a perfectly valid case for why it would be your favorite, because it’s beautiful, detailed, and the interiors were a nice addition.

      @hane coral An opinion's an opinion, keep doing your thing! I'm not the biggest fan of Valhalla. It's objectively not pay to win though. A major complaint with that game is that gear hardly matters, you can get through the whole game wearing the starting gear and weapons and never upgrade them and your experience won't be hugely different. Ubisoft's greed is seen in the prices of skins and other cosmetics - not in any gameplay buffs.

I love every single detail of it such as the visions you see in the desert (some were biblical btw) or the sound the air is making when you're entering a pyramid to explore its secrets and treasures and i really believe those small things fully immerse you into it's setting. And all that excluding the DLC's which added four new beautiful locations from egyptian mythology! By far the most beautiful open world i've ever played and i'm saying this as a Greek who also really enjoyed Odyssey's representation of Ancient Greece! France in my opinion is one of the best because of how detailed it is, especially the monuments in Paris. 16:11 the reason they added so many hills is because Greece is a very hilly place. As someone from NY it is clear what Rogue's river valley was representing. The Hudson River Valley of course! Which runs highly navigable to Albany. And you are actually incorrect about the mountains. Albany is in the Apalachian range, wedged between the Catskills and Adirondacs. Though semi semantics, as the mountains in the distance are intended to be further north atlantic. They tied all this in in a unique way, putting areas further north and south of the US in here, which works really well rather than forcing you to sail down the entire country. Areas we never would go to otherwise without adding dead space

      I'm glad you enjoyed it! For me, Ubisoft has this issue where when they have wide open areas they stop caring about the geography as much, like how the kingdom of AC1 and the frontier of AC3 vaguely represent the areas in between the major cities, but mix everything up in bizarre ways. After AC4 was able to give us the entirety of the Caribbean in an imperfect but still identifiable way, I had higher hopes for this river valley map. But you're right, it is unique and interesting, and I'm glad it resonated with your experiences in the region.

    Origins was so good that regardless of being relatively new, I still get nostalgic of it

    Glad you called it the Eastern Roman Empire rather than the false title it’s so often given 😉

    I would say that my top three favorite settings are
    1. The Caribbean
    2. Paris
    3. Rome
    I would still say that AC brotherhood was my favorite game all together but I loved the ship combat if BF and exploring the sea. I also really loved Paris because it was fun exploring and just running around and I think that world was very lived in with the massive crowds a casual walkers around. Rome was actually really fun to parkour around and the environment all together looked pretty cool.

    The Music of AC4 and 2 is one of many things that makes me like them so much. Can never get enough of it.
