You are an excellent teacher. I'd like to say that I taught myself how to double-knit, but that would be a lie since I've watched your video a few times to get the method correctly. Your CO method is also amazing. I can't wait until this scarf is finished so I can try out the BO method. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Another terrific video. Thanks much for your slow and concise instruction. I find your tutorials easy to follow and quite clear. I too love the soundtrack. Thanks for taking the time to share your skills.
Thanks for answering so quickly! I read that double knitting can't be applied to ribbing -- is that true? If so, could I just knit the rib band then introduce a 2nd colour & start knitting double? I want to knit very warm leg warmers, & with planning to use circular needles I'm jumping into the deep end!
For example: when you bring both to the front to purl, do your purl stitch with the black stitch the white must travel over the new stitch to go to the back. Now do a knit stitch with a white one, bring both to the front, turn your work over and look at it, you will have the same thing happening.
Thanks for replying again. It was great to learn that double knitting in rib CAN be achieved! As a beginner, I would prefer to learn from a good video demonstration (such as your own on DK vid), but I may be able to follow the written instructions & photos at the link you provided - thanks for that! It does look challenging, but I will definitely give it a go. :)
Thanks for that offer, I appreciate it. I may need a video demo, depending on how I go, so I will let you know - thanks. I just had a look at your channel and saw that you have uploaded your 'broomstick' lace - you are right, it is a very pretty stitch. I see you have other video demo's that I think I may find useful in the future too. You seem to be quite an accomplished knitter! It's great that you are sharing your knowledge with others. Best wishes :)
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I checked out a book at the library called, "Son of a Stitch 'n B****" that had double knitting in it and I couldn't figure it out without seeing an example. THANK YOU!!
Nature provided you with an awesome soundtrack! What animals were you near? lol Seriously, I could have fallen asleep listening to the background noise it was so relaxing!
I rarely block acrylic. I'll even go so far as to say never. I do however, run them thro the washer and dryer when Im finished and that evens out the stitches nicely.
I dont think your doing anything wrong. Both yarns travel in the middle of your double knitting so when you do both knits and purls..the opposite color will have to travel over the purl side of either.
lissaplus3, I really like the soothing background noises :) And your easy style. And you're funny. Thanks for making your video. It helped me remember how to do my checker print scarf project I picked up again after quite some time :)
Oh my, it seems you are not happy with me at all!! Casting on is covered in another video, Begining and ending a row is covered in another video, as I mention in the video. This video covered exactly what I planned to cover. Im sorry if it was not enough for you.
Thanks for the quick response! I think your videos are very clear and they helped me a ton! Don't know who Evie is but she sounds like she has a poor attitude!
Remember you are working 2 pieces at the same time, as long as the bars are on the purl side of the stitch, you should be fine!! Try to do 10 rows and ignore the bars, they should magically go away! Please come back and let me know if this helps!! If not, I can do a little video if that helps.
I think you're not moving the yarn from front to back and vice versa, as lissa instructs between each stitch; I've found that if I forget to move the yarn, I get bars! Good luck!
Absolutely! Using a circular is like using dpn's only they are connected! LOL And welcome to the addiction! If there is a technique you run into that you cant find a video on, please let me know!
I have another request for a video on knitted broomstick lace I will do first, but if you need me to, I may be able to do a video on this. It will add to my DK lineup! Let me know if you need me to! Good luck! Did you find me on facebook?
First, the word "can't" shouldnt be used much in knitting. If you work hard enough, you can most the time accomplish it. Yes, ribbing can happen in double knitting. Double knitting is just two sides of a fabric done at the same time. You can do anything in double knitting that you can do in single knitting. I found this link for you to look over. I hope it can be of some help!! wipinsanity.blogspot.com/2011/10/ribbing-in-double-knitting-part-1.html
Thank you so so much for your tutorial. It is great indeed, and so simple to recreate thanks to your explanations. I just posted an article on my blog about it, and of course I mentioned your video ! annaetlespetiteschoses.blogspot.fr/2014/01/aujourdhui-je-teste-le-double-tricot.html Annabelle
Long video! It starts out very helpful, but winds down to halted sentences, two words at a time. The time is wasted. We aren't shown about casting on, nor how to begin and end a row, nor much of the charted design. (You kept doing the charted design, but talking about other things. Only showed us one, 2-stitch row.) Very nice video quality, easy to see, but you should plan out what you're going to cover.
This is the best two color brioche how-to video I've seen. Love the chickens, btw.

I'm new to knitting & I like the look of this. You make it look easy too. Can it be adapted to knitting on circular needles (not DPN's)?
Thank you for the idea of holding both yarns and reaching in and knitting one. It makes it a lot easier for English knitters.

This is the best video I have seen on Double Knitting. Thank you very much for sharing.

Crickets and geese sounds make me homesick for summer evenings in the back yard.
Do you have to start with one color and with the color color to get the pattern right. For example you stared with red and ended with blue

I have one question, do you need to use dpn's or are straight or circulars ok?
If I make a scarf w/double knitting, and I use acrylic yarn, will it need blocking when I'm finished? Thanks.
Thank you for showing us how to double knit. I hear your cattle and chickens in the background. Haha .. sounds like our house.
I rarely block acrylic. I'll even go so far as to say never. I do however, run them thro the washer and dryer when Im finished and that evens out the stitches nicely.
Thanks for taking the time to share. And your needles look like my homemade oak needles. : )
You can use circulars. Circulars can be used as straight needles. Im only using DPN's because it was easy at the time. :)
Im soo glad! Thank you for your complements!
Thank you so much! I've watched a bunch of videos and this is the first one that actually made sense :) I think I have it now!
I dont think your doing anything wrong. Both yarns travel in the middle of your double knitting so when you do both knits and purls..the opposite color will have to travel over the purl side of either.
@MrPianowoman YAY!! im soo glad!

Ok, but... what about the CO for this knitting ?
Thanks for the video, great instructions.

@julieelf7 I responded in 3 messages...LOL I couldnt cram it all into one.
Again, If you need me too, I can make a video explaining it for you.

I get it,,I still can not read the chart.
Why is that?
There are many different kinds, but you can try my video cast on for double knitting. I'll put the link in the description.
