My favorite sides to go with salmon patties is buttery mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, cooked apples (with butter, cinnamon & nutmeg) and biscuits. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it😊

Thank you for sharing your recipe. I had leftover portions of canned salmon (in water) and sardines (in olive oil). I combined them for my patties. I make salmon cakes often but I like trying new ideas. I was very pleased with the results from using grated onion and the cornmeal. I think they improved the flavor and texture of my patties. I served with Basmati rice and Normandy vegetable mix. Dinner was a success! Thank you😊

The salmon is flash-steamed, and the bones won't harm you. They pretty well dissolve while mixing.

I know I won't choke on the bones but I HATE hearing them crunch in my mouth it's so gross and sometimes there are a lot of bones.

@@lennybuttz2162 I take the backbone out as well, but don’t think they crunch. Also I use saltine crackers instead of flour because flour makes it like fish bread or something. Diced onions are a must, and I do bell peppers the same way. Plus a little Worcestershire sauce in the egg wash before hand mixing with salmon. Sort of a jager-salmon if you will…, ps the saltines add enough salt & crunchiness xxxx

Been making this for years . Doing this with CARP, as well as Salmon, and you can hardly tell the difference . I use Italian breadcrumbs, and/or any variety of crackers, instead of flour and corn meal. If you pressure cook the carp ( 100 minutes @10 pounds pressure per quart) then the bones will be soft enough to mix right in with the patties . A pinch of lemon also gives it a nice flavor, as well .
