How To Fix A Slow Draining Toilet Without A Plunger

  • Hi. I'm going to show you how to fix a slow flushing (draining) toilet without a plunger. All you'll need is some dish soap, a bucket and some hot water. It's an easy fix and only takes about 10 minutes. You may need to use a plunger if the obstruction is big. I didn't have to as you can see in the video.
    Things to check for first:
    1. Check the back of the toilet and make sure the water level is not low.
    2. Use a plunger to try to unclog anything.
    3. Use the method in the video, hot water and soap.
    4. If that didn't work try Drano or some other pipe cleaner.
    5. Snake the drain.
    6. Call a plumber.
Try these things, in this order. Should fix your issue. If not leave a comment and I'll try to help.

Big thanks my guy! I knew about this fix but not really how to execute it- this was genuinely helpful. And took less than 10 min in my case; was able to watch the water level in the bowl drop as it blasted through the clog. Thanks again

After attempting to battle the porcelain with a plunger in what would be an epic 10 minute game of thrones scene, Draino, and cheap plastic snake, I figured I was for sure going to have to go into the basement and drop the drain line for the toilet. Before suiting up to get covered in that unholy concoction I did a basic search on youtube, stumbled across this video, and gave it a try. My clothing, entire day, and general well being would like to thank you for such a short and helpful video. I also run off of a well so with heavy rains the water can get a bit heavy, but this still worked like a charm.

I spent over an hour trying to fix my toilet. I used hot water, a toilet snake, and a plunger but it only made a slow drain in the end. After watching this video and waiting the 10 minutes I was saved. Thank you!

Putting a teaspoon of liquid detergent into the bucket of hot water that was dumped into the toilet bowl at 0:48 probably would have worked as well, or better, than putting lot of it into the overflow in the tank. The clog is most likely in the siphon area of the bowl, so it is best to get the detergent in there to loosen it up during the 10-minute hot water soak period.
