Hey guys just thought I'd leave a comment about the "storing" messages I was getting. It seems the clarity setting must have been changed on the jpgs - happy to report that setting clarity to '0' fixes the issue :)
Mitch Lally Yeah - after you took the very first shot on the video I was like, something is wrong. I knew it wasn’t that slow. Glad you figured it out
I'm curious to see what it was actually doing to the photo taking that long per shot, those images are CLEAR AF, with it at zero would it have been as great
you can use clarity but change the drive mode from single shot
it's not a hobbyist point and shoot, it's a pro weekend camera, i've shot street, wedding, portraits, commercial interior. And with the leaf shutter and high sync speed flash it is SOO capable of more than hobby point and shoot. And the lens is sooo sharp.
Yeah I can see where you're coming from, the quality is great - probably would need a second body if you're going to shoot a wedding though the 23mm would be a bit limiting.
Absolutely agree on that. For me, Perfect discrete camera for streetphoto, (same sensor as x-t3. )
HSS flash is the reason why I use the X100/X70 series ü
I like these short and straight to the point videos. It mixes it up a bit. Great images!
Nate Uhl thanks mate! That’s what I was going for. Just a chill shoot ☺️
The beauty behind the fujifilm cameras is making your film simulation recipes and getting a photo with color you love in camera
Simple but amazing location for portraits and Amanda happy jumps made me smile at the end of the video! Thanks for sharing Mitch!
Classic Polly thanks so much!! 🙏🏼😁
I love these Very High Quality Behind the Scenes. So good. Love your work man! Keep it up
Showing her the work you've gotten so far and you get this @3:57 The reaction we live for, and know we've done good. She is too cute.
So true! That reaction on location makes the shoot all worthwhile 👌🏼
I second this statement
Her happy jumps sums it all up! You are fabulous man!
Love the quality shoot! Wasn't expecting that seriously, thought that it was more for street wide angle photography, I was wrong. You convinced me. :)
Amazing quality of the photos and overall great video. Waiting for my camera to be delivered soon. Super excited!
Great video as always man! ✌🏻 These vids always fill me with a ton of inspiration and make me want to go out shooting straight away!
Thanks man that really means a lot to me!
These videos are great. For me less so as a review but more as a product showcase - i.e. here's what a pro can do with this particular gear. I really like how you make the most of the APSC/f2 combo by keeping her a bit distant from the background vs. putting her right up against a bush where the difference between this and a full-frame combo would be very obvious.
Hey Mitch! Great video, I've been binge watching all your older videos too, the growth is crazy man! Could you make a video about your camera settings when shooting portraits please? In particular, maintaining crisp and clear photos when shooting on burst mode - I often get blurred hands which isn't a good look haha.
Those walking shots were my favourite 😍
I would add for extra highlight detail, try the dr400 extended dynamic range mode. The dr400 mode, in short, distributes the exposure more evenly thru the exposure of the images, removing the necessity of underexposing for highlights. It does this by requiring you to shoot at iso 640 or higher. This allows the camera to underexpose the hi lights of an image while boosting the mid tones and shadows…. basically what you eventually do in post if you underexposed your images. It does all of these calculations prior to the analog to digital conversion, so it works in RAW!
Love a good honest review! Beautiful images mate.
Thanks Julian!
Gorgeous shots throughout your shoot my man! Keep up the great videos!
Thanks Tommy!!
Those walking shots were my favs! Loved your review, also what an amazing location 😍😍
Julia Trotti thanks Julia! 😁 if you ever come up here I’ll take you!!
Julia, your walking shots are far much more interesting to watch. And the pics are far much better.
Gorgeous images. Very impressed with the quality of the shots.
Love this!! So magical
Lisa Johnson Thanks lisa!!! 💛
Your photos always look great, and image quality looks nice from the updated lens. I just prefer the look of shallower depth of field. Thanks for adding the note about slow writing images.
Very good POGS!!! If anyone was wondering but Mitch is actually 25% Filipino
CARLO O’BRIEN only from the ankles down pogs
Thanks so much for sharing my music again! 💜 Fantastic video & your production value is just 👌🔥
Thanks man! Love your tunes so much.
Amazing photos !!! Great camera 📷
I only shoot raw, and if I want one particular image I just convert it in with the processor of the camera IN the camera itself. Great shots man!
It's so sick how Fuji does that hey. Thank you so much mate :)
Cool vid. Definitely looking forward to more x100V content.
love those edits my guy👌
Great shots, like that camera ...
Enjoy watching Amanda's lovely reaction on her photos
Bro i just found your channel. You're very talented. Hope you become super famous soon on UA-cam ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you mate!!
That camera is sharp!!! I want one!
Such a great video man. Always love your production. Shame about the slowness because the images look 👌🏻
Thank you TK - slowness is fixed - I had something turned on for the jpgs I shouldn’t have! Its super quick now haha
the camera is great for portraits, it’s great for nearly all occasions 😉👍
i just pick up the x100v too, it's amazing!
Good little cam!
Superb images big brother...
💐💐
Cool little cam hey! Nice vid bro
Cheers Ben!
Just wondering if you did anything with the unique leaf shutter in this camera? Seems like it would have been an ideal setting and subject to try for some high speed shutter sync?
Nice man! I did my first portrait shoot with my x100v! I only shoot JPG out of camera so I didn’t know the RAW would slow it down like that. I’m on team #classicneg tho!
Nice man!!
The quality you can have in your back pocket these days! The bts looks amazing too, was that shot on the bmpcc 6k?
Isn’t this little thing awesome? Yeah its all bmpcc6k brother!
@@MitchLally Yeah it is! Sweet, the footage looks sick! I just got an s1h, did you test that one out already as well?
It's more than a point a shoot camera. It has a leaf shutter (which is normally found in Medium Format Cameras).
I would be definitely put off shooting a paid portrait shoot with this based on the fact that I would have to wait too long for the image to store in the camera. I like to shoot fast when working and waiting around for cameras to render is a no go. But great fun for travel and street photography.
Great shoot Mitch
"The camera was slow to store the images" this is absolutely not normal. either something's wrong with the camera or the sd card.
Dan Nolle issue solved in the comments - has something to do with the jpg settings.
Switch to Electric Shutter.
Usually the clarity setting for JPEG’s causes this issue.
Surely is the Clarity setting you used. The T4 has the same recording timing. If you shoot in CL or CH modes (faster FPS) even with the setting on, it will ignore it and record the images in normal time. Fuji itself recommends applying clarity only in post for that.
Nice video. I was struggling to find sample portrait photos of this camera when shot wide open. It has fairly decent background separation considering all the other features you are getting.
Still undecided between this and an RX1R II though. The RX1R full frame background separation/DOF at F2 is just insane and that lens beats the x100v for sure.
Awesome work 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Colours are really nice
Hi Mitch - do you think they x100v would suffice as a fashion photography camera ? I only use 23mm and 35mm(using TCL adapter glass)
When I try different film simulations, they look very similar, I'm stunned.
This was a cool video, not only as a review of the X100V, but also to see how you do the shoot. I have one question. I noticed some of the shots were strongly backlit, but the model herself was perfectly exposed. The video didn't show anyone standing beside you with a reflector lighting up the model's face. How did you do that? I am guessing you underexposed the model, perfectly exposed the backlight, and then brought up the shadows. If that's the case, I am really impressed by the Fuji files.
Yup you’re correct that’s how I did it!
love it brotha
Thanks mate 🙏🏼
Wonderful shots. Are you shooting with Eye Detection on?
edward ho yes!
Thanks for the video Mitch. were you spot metering
Do you instantly discard shots where a small part of the hand or legs are cropped out from the shot?
Great! Thanks!
what do you think is the best compact camera as of today? in terms of depth of field (bokeh effect), mostly for portaits
Is this camera worth buying for modeling photography? tell me please. and thanks for your great video.
your opinion please on the 23mm when used f2 wide open and closeby? sharp or not?
Got mine the other day... really happy with it. But you are right - it's weird on my first few shots, it was recording/storing my pictures fast... then not sure if it was an update or after shooting several shots - it started recording slow... like reading for like 2 seconds before it gets ready again.
Nevermind - I saw the comment/threads below and setting the clarity to 0 made it fast again for me! Right on!
Glad that fixed it for you!
The model is sweeeeeet.
youre a great photographer
ohh, fujifilm x100v
Thanks man! Thinking about selling my Canon RP with a sigma 35 1.4 and getting this just to have a smaller daily setup.
Oooh RP tho!!
Mitch Lally haha, yeah, I did say thinking!
I prefer the Provia and the Classic chrome too
I just bought my fuji x100v, what preset did you use for the edited photos
I used my preset ‘00’ from my pack - link is in the description if you want to pick it up :)
Did they put an update out for the storing images
Did you use the flash on the camera?
Just wanna ask, what is the point of using film simulation if the user is just gonna edit it in the post process?
To show you guys what it looks like if you want to shoot jpg!
Did you have it in high performance mode?
Surprised you found it slow to write, are you using the new 170mb/s San Disks?
I'm having that same slow issue with the xt4. every time I take a photo, it gives me a stooging message, and takes a few seconds to load
Yeah, as Carrington Visuals says above, that happens when you set Clarity to anything but '0'. It takes up a lot of processing power when it's storing the JPEGs. Switch it off, shoot RAW (or RAW + JPEG) and apply the clarity adjustment in camera afterwards and you'll be fine.
Yeah try what Peter said - I was almost gonna rip this video down cuz I realised I made a mistake but heaps of people in the comments helped me out. Try just shooting raw only and see if it helps!
@@PeterEvansPeteTakesPictures hell yeah thanks
@@MitchLally cheers
Using it for past few months..it still is pricer than what it is capable of...Image quality is ok
Is this Amanda's preset on sale?
Thanks
This camera is great, great video! Any camera can be a hobbyist camera, as any camera can be a pro camera. This has been my go to camera since the day I purchased it...made thousands of dollars off of it. For me it’s definitely a pro camera lol mostly use it for headshots but it’s great as my travel camera as well.
i love thaaat
The problem you mention at the beginning with the sevia film emulation and the pictures being taken slow and being processed slow...I don't have that all. Is that still an issue for you?
Nope fixed check the pinned comment
@@MitchLally oh yeah mb should have seen that :) nice pictures btw!
3:10 floating torso
Umm.. This review is exact what I wanted to know. No one ever talk about how it took a portrait shot, ecept snap.. street and video.
Hi, can you please write the setting for the camera to have this result
Great video thanks. I'm wrestling with this or the Sony A6400 for street and portraits. I'm not a tech geek and would just shoot and share JPEGS. Causal shooter but want pin sharpness of the subject. Thoughts anyone?
I have a 6400, and X100F I love my Fuji,.... I'd grab it before the 6400
@@IanMcCausland Cheers, got it yesterday and love it. Trying to figure it out now :)
I have no idea why you don’t have millions of subscribers. Your videos are A M A Z I N G!!! Keep doing amazing job! @oxtmil
Miljan Trninic Thanks Miljian!
Made him wait like about 1 SECOND! To store a photo. Lol
Adjusting “clarity” on the shooting setting slows storing photos to sd cards on my x100v. This may be the issue. Setting it back to 0 will bring it back to normal!
donhwan kim does clarity give sharpness ?
@@sherwinh1661 I think so because apparently, clarity increase the contrasts, and the objects look more separated from each other.
X100V is my everyday carrying equipment
I use mine for everything and get some beautiful portraits of family.
2:57 with the grass...
Amazing, no shoulder or wrist strap. Are you a photographer?
Camera is slow because you probably have the clarity set to some value... if you set it to default camera store pictures as it should be...
Hm, slower to save the images than my X100F (which is instant) so I guess I will wait for the next generation.
Hey friend ! Big like for u 👌
What's the focal length
Its a fixed 23mm lens.
@@MitchLally 23mm but equivalent 35mm (because APSC), it's important to precise it
Gorgeous pictures. Camera is too slow for me.
Polani Almoni Thanks!
It’s actually super fast. He may have had clarity above 0. That’s the only thing that’ll make the camera slow
Hey Mitch! I'm currently in the process of creating a free Fuji Recipes website & app that focuses on the X100V and it's future versions.
Looking for some lovely RAW photos to use as samples for our recipes. Would you be interested in supplying some?
We are asking some of our favourite X100V creators this and will ofcourse tag them on the site.
Appreciate your time, also what a gorgeous model! Fuji Fam for life
I am such an EVF user.
Reduce clarity to 0. The pause will disappear👍
need that hat , drop the link lol
Great camera and very fun to use but the dynamic range is horrible.
TheRealDamiani I thought it was good! What are we comparing it to?
Mitch Lally Sony a6400. Usually you should have some color from the sky (blue, yellow / orange, etc) but for it to be blown out white, that’s not good. I have the X100F and I get really bad highlights blown out during sunset lighting if the sky is in the frame but the rest of the frame is great.
@@IAmDamiani Just learn to use your X100. You're the only one to find its dynamic range "horrible"
Wish this camera had 1.4 and a bit more bokeh
I found out that many of your pictures came out kinda blurry or bad quality or maybe it's just me.
I'm not worthy 🙌🏿
Get the X100V NOW or you will REGRET bc of its TOP-NOTCH image quality. But if you CANNOT afford it, watch how us CREATE it wooden model by hands. YOU ALSO WON'T REGRET ITS QUALITY.
