Dang, the human SoB came down by one frame literally today. Great video though! Nice to see exactly what strategies are being used and where each frame is lost in 8-4.
It fucking should. It's one thing in something short like dragster but it's fucking insane that the tas was tied that far in such a long and input heavy game.
@@darkness74185 like 7 frames in 1-1, 7 in 1-2, 2 in 4-1, 20 in 4-2, 3 in 8-1, 4 in 8-2, like 2 in 8-3, 14 in 8-4 over a perfect human 8-4 (which hasn't quite yet been performed), which is 57 give or take a few frames, that's about a full second
@@KingOfJonnyBoy I see, 4-2 is astonishing because that meant we're both just one frame away from saving another rule in the tas and just one frame away from not saving it RTA
Amazing graphic having all 3 side by side. I don't even want to know how long that must've taken to tune and get right. Looking forward to that large video project! :D
Also, for 4-2, you might want to add Kriller37 for finding a more reliable setup for Lightning 4-2 with the world's first 4-2 top clip HappyLee style, which saves 2 frames over the standard lightning 4-2 trick, and you don't have to do a fast acceleration in the warp zone. Doing it will barely make the framerule.
You're also an excellent writer and narrator. Much as i like summoning salt, this way you go directly to the point is more aligned with my preferences.
I wish this also included the "real" TAS, not just the human theory TAS. After all, the only difference between the two is what is deemed "possible" for humans to do, which can change over time.
Awesome video! I pray to the algorithm for this channel. How come the TAS in the 2-1 clip is behind the runners? Maybe because a faster strat was developed to compensate for the slower turn around?
Awesome videos. Love that you are keeping up with the voice over. Maybe you can add an easy way to know what color Mario is who? I'm easily confused on that...
One suggestion: you could make it so that coins disappear on the screen once any of the displayed players collects them. Not sure if there are other game elements that could also be synchronized this way, but coins have no real impact and I think it would look nicer.
You're absolutely right, it's part of what I hope to address in my refactoring / clean up. There are several foreground elements which can disappear. (Coins, blocks which are being bumped, bowser's bridge, the axe).
@@lilseb3436 In this game, there is no distinction. There is nothing the TAS does to save time that the humans could not match that doesn't involve pressing left and right on the same frame. If there were a room-by-room SOB, it would match the no L+R TAS exactly, or it might lose exactly one frame. Even that frame is not impossible for a human to save.
So the humans have _matched_ the best known TAS on each individual segment of the WR? We only await a hero to put it all together cleanly to put the best man and the best machine side by side on the metaphorical leaderboard?
