HEALTHY GRANOLA BAR RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats (180g)
1 cup almonds (140g)
1/2 cup date paste (150g)
1/4 cup unsweetened peanut butter (65g)
2 oz organic dark chocolate (50g)
Preparation:
The first step is optional, but it adds extra flavor. In a skillet add the rolled oats and previously chopped almonds. Toast for 5-10 minutes gently stirring or shaking the pan. Let cool a bit.
In a large bowl, add the sweet paste made of dates (or other dried fruits), toasted oats and almonds, unsweetened peanut butter (or other nut butter of your choice) and melted dark chocolate.
Using your hands mix all the ingredients together, until it becomes sticky. If you think the mixture is dry add some water.
Line your 8 by 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Transfer the mixture to the pan, layer a piece of parchment paper on top and press into the bottom of the pan. Press it well with your hand or some jar.
Place it in the fridge to chill for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to give oats time to soak up the moisture.
Using a sharp knife cut into 10 or 12 bars.
Enjoy!

Is it alright if we don't add any nut butter? I don't eat nut butter
Hi Muneera! Sure, you can go with some seeds instead.
It is ok to use raisin paste instead of dates ?
I made these for my sister last week, she's an ICU pediatrician and doesn't get to eat regular meals when working.. So I'd pack her one or two of these everyday.. she liked them a lot and asked to make regularly, Thanks a lot for the recipe.

Made the fruit paste out of raisins, apricots and dates as I had a little of each but not enough of just one type! Turned out great, as always. I'm impressed that even though I can't usually bake to save my life, your recipes always turn out great! They're so foolproof and quick, I made this when I got in from work and will be taking a slice (or 2) with me every day as an energy boost. Thanks again 🤤👍
Hi! Love your feedback, thanks so much! Making a sweet paste out of three different dried fruits, what an amazing idea, will do the same next time. I agree these are great for having at work, I prefer having one when going out in long walk.
Why would someone give this a thumbs down if not for jealousy and bad volition towards another human being.
Thanks for sharing. I will try this. It seems pretty easy to make and packed full of goodness.
Hi! Thanks so much for supporting! Hope you'll enjoy these easy to make bars.
Agreed, but I've done it accidentally!
Dates!💜🙀 so chocolaty! Like that voice~🔥
Thanks Bailey!
🤣🤣🤣😝
Simple, healthy and delicious. So happy I discovered you 😊, I love every single one of your recipes.
Hi! Happy to have you here, thanks for all of your comments!
I made your recipe only a few hours after you uploaded it as I am now a big fan of your wonderful cookery channel. You have no idea how hard it is to restrain myself from eating it before leaving it in the fridge for the extra long time that you advised. I know it will taste like heaven as I tried it before it went in the fridge. Many thanks once again for inspiring me so much.
That's amazing Ruth, thanks so much for taking a quick action! You're so right, the hardest part about this recipe is the waiting time. The one is sure, the long these stay in the fridge, the taste is better, just have one (ok, two) for my breakfast this morning. Great little recipe for these hot days here! Enjoy your week!
@@HowToCookSmarter Toasting/dry frying shredded coconut in with the walnuts and oats most definitely brought out their far more intense flavour. I think your brilliant recipe would also work well with dried figs, although they are not so easy to find and would be a lot more expensive here in England.
This channel is treasure for people with celiac, Thank you very much.
Hi Reem! Thanks so much for your feedback!

The dates were soaked in water and I think the water will make the bars go bad at room temperature within a week. Please advice. I love your brownie recipe. I have made it 4times and I love it.
I love your recipes. So healthy. How long would you soak the dates in water for please?
What a amazing idea love this thx very much 😊💚

Yummy!!
They charge so much at shops while you can make them at home simple for cheap oats are super cheap dates one box of Persian dates of 500 grams is no more than 2 Euro and little bit of peanut butter which is cheap too, crazy 😜 and so much more fun to make it at home
Hi! Thanks for checking it out! Your comment is so to the point! No more store bought granola bars anymore!
Do you use high heat to toast oats or medium heat? Thanks
thank you for this recipe :-) if i use honey or date/agave syrup do i still use 1/2 cup as it is more liquid

Hey! Do you think I can use a combination of honey and banana in place of the date paste? (don't have dates haha)
Hi thanks for the great recipe! I just tried it last night and ate this morning , I was so delish! I love the idea of dates replacement of refine sugar. :) how long I can store in the fridge? (Hope I won’t finish in two days!) 🤣
Hi there! Thanks for checking it out! You could have these in your fridge for weeks, probably these won't last that long:)
Thank youu❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching!
How long to soak dates in water?
Seems delicious! How do you make your date paste though? Thanks a lot for your recipes!
Thanks Alex! Well, if you have fresh dates just process them into your blender. Most of the time I use dried dates, so I have to pre-soak these first in some hot water, than also process these with my fodd processor and store in the fridge. That's all.
Can we substitute banana instead of dates?
Hi Erandi! Talking about sweetness it would be fine to use bananas, but I think it will result in soft texture, so if not having dates I would suggest using any other dried fruits processed into a paste.
Thank you so much
@@WENFDO you could always cheat a little bit with some banana chips, since the moisture is already cooked out of them and such generally😼
Thank you! I love granola bars a lot, but they always have so much sugar!!
Thanks for checking it out! These make a great replacement for store bought bars.
What can I use to replace the dates? It's hard for me to get them 😔
Can you freeze these bars?
Love it
Thanks Berta!
Theeee Best
Thanks!
Hello, This is exactly what i was looking for..Thank you so much.
i have a quetion.
What will be the shelf-life of these super nutritioius, healthy and tasty bars?
He mentioned in the video
Thanks! Just keep these in the fridge, and you don't have to think about it.
You are amazing 👍👍👍👍👍❤️😌
Thanks a lot!
Hi! How can I replace nut butter?
I legit went to the store to find some healthy snacks and the granola bars had so much sugar, one had 16 grams of sugar, my gosh, I ended up just buying some nuts and some fruit
Hi Gabriela! Yes, most of the store bought granola bars are loaded with sugar (multiple types of sugar). It's always better to make some on your own.
They really look delicious but I am not a fan of peanut butter. Can i substitute this by anything else and yet obtain the same texture?
Hi there! Thanks for your feedback! You could go with any other nut butter instead of the peanut butter, or even tahini.
Looks great! How long do they last?
Hi! Thanks! Couple of weeks in the fridge.
My significant other is allergic to chocolate. What can I use in place of chocolate for the items that you make?
Hi Greta! You can use raisins in place of chocolate.
How long do you soak the dates and do you remove the water before putting the dates in the food processor?
Hi Jennie! Soak your dates for 1 hour and do not remove the water, use water just to cover the dates.
@@HowToCookSmarter thank you!
Can you omit the chocolate
Hi! If doing so I would suggest you add more peanut butter or nut butter you use, just to make it sticky enough.
how many calories would it be for one bar approx? also would it be okay to bake it too??
The fact that you toast/dry fry the oats and nuts first (I also included shredded coconut in the pan), the rest of it doesn't actually need cooking. The wonderful smell of the toasted ingredients was so intense when I just made it. The method advised is tried and tested so it definitely works.
Hi! It's something like 170 calories per bar. There's no need to bake these, anyway if doing so there's no need to bake for long period of time.
Hi,
How long do they last in refrigerator for?
Hi Anisha! Definitely for couple of months.
Hi I'm your new subscriber
Please suggest me the processer /blender(how do we call) to grind the nuts as well as dates paste? Thank you
Hi! Thanks for joining! Having a high power blender is great, but it's not necessary. Any immersion hand blender will do the work too, I use that little fellow all the time.
@@HowToCookSmarter thank you for your reply
Hi! May I know what I could replace w the date paste? ^^
Hi! You can go with honey too, just reduce the amount of it.
Why is your peanut butter so runny.. one we get here is dry n thick which makes all the difference in binding the bars. What can be done to make it runny without adding oil.
Love your channel.
Hi there! It's runny because it' natural peanut butter, no sugar or oil added, anyway you can use any pb you have. Thanks for checking it out!
Beautiful recipe!! Where are you from?
Thanks so much Iva! I'm from Croatia:)

My go to breakfast henceforth
Hi there! Thanks so much for your kind words!
I might have done something wrong but I don't know what! Mine turned out not as moist and very crumbly. Help?
Hi Carolina! I guess my peanut butter and dates were thinner than yours, just add some water to the mixture, I think you'll be fine. And chop your almonds very fine.
@@HowToCookSmarter thank you! The second batch was a lot better. Solution: I used quick oats instead of the rolled oats. It was just perfect!
@@carolbottura Hi! Glad you found the solution how to properly enjoy these bars. Good job!
Yummy🥰🤩😝😇
Thanks Sonja!

🤩😍😋🤗
I have made these a couple of times according the recipe. It's sticky when I transfer it to the baking pan. But after overnight in the fridge, when I take it out, it starts falling apart >__< What do I need to add to make it more sticky?
Hi Susan! I guess your date paste is too thick, I would just add some water to the mixture, to make it even more sticky, that's all.
Yes, it is hard to make it stick and the water will spoil the bars at room temperatuee. we need some solution to this beautiful recipe.
