HEALTHY GRANOLA BAR RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats (180g)
1 cup almonds (140g)
1/2 cup date paste (150g)
1/4 cup unsweetened peanut butter (65g)
2 oz organic dark chocolate (50g)
Preparation:
The first step is optional, but it adds extra flavor. In a skillet add the rolled oats and previously chopped almonds. Toast for 5-10 minutes gently stirring or shaking the pan. Let cool a bit.
In a large bowl, add the sweet paste made of dates (or other dried fruits), toasted oats and almonds, unsweetened peanut butter (or other nut butter of your choice) and melted dark chocolate.
Using your hands mix all the ingredients together, until it becomes sticky. If you think the mixture is dry add some water.
Line your 8 by 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Transfer the mixture to the pan, layer a piece of parchment paper on top and press into the bottom of the pan. Press it well with your hand or some jar.
Place it in the fridge to chill for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to give oats time to soak up the moisture.
Using a sharp knife cut into 10 or 12 bars.
Enjoy!

Is it alright if we don't add any nut butter? I don't eat nut butter
Hi Muneera! Sure, you can go with some seeds instead.
It is ok to use raisin paste instead of dates ?
I made these for my sister last week, she's an ICU pediatrician and doesn't get to eat regular meals when working.. So I'd pack her one or two of these everyday.. she liked them a lot and asked to make regularly, Thanks a lot for the recipe.

Made the fruit paste out of raisins, apricots and dates as I had a little of each but not enough of just one type! Turned out great, as always. I'm impressed that even though I can't usually bake to save my life, your recipes always turn out great! They're so foolproof and quick, I made this when I got in from work and will be taking a slice (or 2) with me every day as an energy boost. Thanks again 🤤👍

Thank you
I made your recipe only a few hours after you uploaded it as I am now a big fan of your wonderful cookery channel. You have no idea how hard it is to restrain myself from eating it before leaving it in the fridge for the extra long time that you advised. I know it will taste like heaven as I tried it before it went in the fridge. Many thanks once again for inspiring me so much.
That's amazing Ruth, thanks so much for taking a quick action! You're so right, the hardest part about this recipe is the waiting time. The one is sure, the long these stay in the fridge, the taste is better, just have one (ok, two) for my breakfast this morning. Great little recipe for these hot days here! Enjoy your week!
@@HowToCookSmarter Toasting/dry frying shredded coconut in with the walnuts and oats most definitely brought out their far more intense flavour. I think your brilliant recipe would also work well with dried figs, although they are not so easy to find and would be a lot more expensive here in England.
Love your recipes
Thanks for your comment!
I made this recipe for the second time and adapted it a bit more on this occasion. I included a large fresh 'easy-peel' satsuma. I accidentally found that It was far quicker and much easier to scrape off the pith from the peel to get the zest than it was to finely grate the zest while it was still on the fruit. I think this was because it was a satsuma, having much softer peel and pith compared to an orange. I added the zest strips and satsuma segments to the blender, together with the softened dates and it easily made a great smooth paste. I then added chopped dried apricots and desiccated coconut (instead of the chopped nuts), oats, melted milk chocolate (instead of plain) and peanut butter to the food mixer. The recipe came out brilliantly and it was really fresh and fruity tasting. Another great success due to your original inspiration and I appreciate you very much indeed, Sascha.
Hi there Ruth! Wow, you're so creative! Love the way how you play with the ingredients, this is also really inspiring! Definitely would love to have one of your bars!
YAY!! great to bring to school

BAM Love the combo!
The video is amaizing nice thnx
Thanks for watching!
Wow! But it deserves much more than wow!!
Thanks a lot Narmina!
I've been doing bars for a while now but i use cranberries and maple syrup instead of almonds and dates still really good
Hi there! Cranberries and maple syrup sound like a great combo, thanks for sharing!
I just made this and I’m not surprised that it turned out great! I couldn’t find “plain” date paste so used a chocolate version. Thanks for introducing me to it. 😍 You are my go-to healthy recipe guy. Thank you!
So simple ,WE have the best dates in the World ,i like 👍👍👍👍👍
Seems delicious! How do you make your date paste though? Thanks a lot for your recipes!
Thanks Alex! Well, if you have fresh dates just process them into your blender. Most of the time I use dried dates, so I have to pre-soak these first in some hot water, than also process these with my fodd processor and store in the fridge. That's all.
Theeee Best
Thanks!
Hi thanks for the great recipe! I just tried it last night and ate this morning , I was so delish! I love the idea of dates replacement of refine sugar. :) how long I can store in the fridge? (Hope I won’t finish in two days!) 🤣
Hi there! Thanks for checking it out! You could have these in your fridge for weeks, probably these won't last that long:)
Look so tasty! Does anyone know the calories per bar?
Do you have a video on how you made the date paste?
I love your healthy recipes.
Can u please give some savoury recipes. It’s pretty easy to find n drool over sweet recipes, but savoury ones are available infrequently. I love nuts and savoury snacks. Would be great to have some shortcut healthy snacks at hand.
Hi! Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! Love the idea of making a healthy savoury snacks, will try to come up with something.
You are amazing 👍👍👍👍👍❤️😌
Thanks a lot!
thank you for this recipe :-) if i use honey or date/agave syrup do i still use 1/2 cup as it is more liquid
Hey! Do you think I can use a combination of honey and banana in place of the date paste? (don't have dates haha)
The dates were soaked in water and I think the water will make the bars go bad at room temperature within a week. Please advice. I love your brownie recipe. I have made it 4times and I love it.
This is most healthiest Granola bars

Thank-you for your videos. Organic vegan from Italy.
Hi Alida! Thanks for your feedback! Sending hugs to Italy!
Hi Shasha,
I simply love your recipes and did try couple of them at home..
I just need 1 suggestion from you, since me and my family are vegetarians... Can you let us know what can we use instead of Eggs..
Basically we want replacement of eggs as we don't consume them.
Will be highly greatful to you.
Love from India...
Anand
Hi there Anand! Thanks for your feedback! I'm truly happy my recipes work for you and your family! Talking about egg substitutes, well, for most of my recipes I would suggest using applesauce or flax egg. Do you have something you've been using instead of the eggs so far?
@@HowToCookSmarter
Hi Shasha,
Thanks for your response...
So in terms of substitute for eggs, depending on the delicacy we want to prepare we use following:
1. Sour Curd (Yogurt) this has a lot of good bacteria and enzymes which helps in fermentation and makes the food item soft
2. Activated Dry Yeast... However we try to minimise the usage as using yeast makes us feel bloated
3. We don't use any substitute which is the case most of the times and these results in we sacrificing the fluffy / spongy ness of the delicacy.
Also we are strict vegetarians and hence we don't consume any sort of eggs... The only difference between us and Vegans is that we consume Honey and Milk Products.
@@anandmalkan Hi Anand! Love the idea of using a curd in place of eggs, I also try not to use yeast if it's not really needed. Thanks for your feedback!
Do you use high heat to toast oats or medium heat? Thanks
These bars look very tasty! How many calories are in one bar?
Looks great! How long do they last?
Hi! Thanks! Couple of weeks in the fridge.
This looks yummy!but you forgot to write the time for baking.!how long does it have to bake for for bars or as a muffin tin?😊
You're right...too much Sugar and " Natural flavours"in bars One buys...thanks for this Easy and delicious recipe!😊
Thanks so much Giulia! Exactly, there's really no reason why should we buy granola bars, these are so easy to make.
Can I use dry dates for the paste? If no, how can I substitute it? I will try your recipe on Sunday!
Hi Cindy! Sure, you can use dry dates too, just pre-soak them in hot water before blending. Use some of the water too, depending how thick you want your paste to be.
Hi! How can I replace nut butter?
Hello, This is exactly what i was looking for..Thank you so much.
i have a quetion.
What will be the shelf-life of these super nutritioius, healthy and tasty bars?
He mentioned in the video
Thanks! Just keep these in the fridge, and you don't have to think about it.
I really like the look of the no bake granola bars but how do I get the measurements for the ingredients?
Thank you! I love granola bars a lot, but they always have so much sugar!!
Thanks for checking it out! These make a great replacement for store bought bars.
Can you freeze these bars?
Hi! May I know what I could replace w the date paste? ^^
Hi! You can go with honey too, just reduce the amount of it.
Hi I'm your new subscriber
Please suggest me the processer /blender(how do we call) to grind the nuts as well as dates paste? Thank you
Hi! Thanks for joining! Having a high power blender is great, but it's not necessary. Any immersion hand blender will do the work too, I use that little fellow all the time.
@@HowToCookSmarter thank you for your reply
Hey can I make all your Oat pancake and bread recipices with oats soaked overnight in apple cider vinegar, or will the consistency and texture be off?
Hi Karl! I think the texture will be affected, so in that case you're going to need to correct the wet ingredients in the recipe. Why would you soak your oats in vinegar, is it because of the phytic acid?
@@HowToCookSmarter Yes I soak them because of Phytic Acid and Oxalates in grains, to make them better digestable. Should I dry them in the oven after soaking?
Yummy🥰🤩😝😇
Thanks Sonja!
