    To fix the vanilla problem, I just poke a small hole in the paper seal on the top of the bottle, then it drips out instead if dumps.

    Love what you've been doing man! been going with my massive prep days for about a year now and it's been life changing!
    My turn to give back now haha, as a heads up for the vanilla, you can take a thumb tack and pop a little hole in the seal instead of ripping it off, allows you to control it much more easily =D

    I gave up dairy milk except for cooking/baking about 15 years ago and these are my go-tos for alternatives. Ripple unsweetened split pea milk is my favorite, it has 8g of protein and 70 calories per 8 fl oz serving. second favorite is high protein flax milk (5g protein, 45 cal per 8 fl oz), third favorite is oat milk (5g protein, 110 cal per 8 fl oz). depending on your macros, calories etc. they all give you good options and the taste and texture are 1000x better than almond milk. hope this helps anyone looking for good dairy milk alternatives!

    You can add some egg whites to the granola (decreasing sugar & fats by a bit if you want). I usually put 1 egg white per 2 cups oats. I also bake it at a lower temp, like 300 deg.

    Try Cashew milk or Macadamia nut milk! I like almond milk but its the most boring out of al the nut milks and since they're all unsweetened I just add a packet of Truvia or aspartame into my milk serving

    This might be the video that will finally convince me to make my own granola after years of knowing how to. Your comment about the almond milk cracked me up...not sure how long you're doing your plant milk experiment, but I'd highly recommend getting almond butter and blending it with water, salt, vanilla, honey or another sweetner and you won't be torturing yourself at least 😂

    Josh I'm not 100% sure but by eye I suspect the oats you're using are not whole oats despite what it says on the bag. I recently found out I can get properly-whole rolled oats locally (they look much browner, like the difference between whole and white rice), they taste much better, they roast much better, they have a far better bite to them.
    Whenever the store is out of those and I can only get the regular bleached ones they're so inferior to the whole oats it feels as if they're off even though they're fresh.

    • @TheMealPrepManual

    • @jaminwaite3867

      You’re probably thinking of oat groats. Rolled oats are pressed.

    • @pubcollize
      @pubcollize Рік тому

      @@jaminwaite3867 Groats look completely different. I'm talking about rolled oats, with the same shape and pattern as any other thick rolled oats but if you put them side by side you'd say the common one was bleached before pressing.

    • @pubcollize
      @pubcollize Рік тому

      No idea what's the exact difference in processing, but visually it's the same difference of whole vs white rice, whole vs white wheat, etc.
      Ever wondered why rolled oats look so pale? If they truly were whole cereal which was pressed, then the cracked skin would be significantly more visible than it is in "whole oats".
      Well, I have a jar of "whole oats" and a jar of properly-whole oats side by side and I can tell you one of them looks exactly like what Josh is using and was labelled as "whole", and the other one also labelled as "whole" looks significantly whole-ier.
