- I was in Pune with Manali, and she decided that I should try Misal, which is a typical Indian food. In this restaurant in Pune, Misal comes with 4 different sauces from different regions of India, with one of the being described as super spicy. Manali said that even Indians find this sauce very spicy!
How will I, a foreigner in Pune, handle eating this spicy Indian food?
Are there any other places where you'd like to see a foreigner trying Indian foods? Any specific Indian foods you'd like to see a foreigner try whilst in India?
Indian has some of the spiciest food in the world apparently, but I'm yet to find it. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, maybe it's not really that spicy, or maybe I'm broken.
Misal pav is a popular dish from Maharashtra. It consists of misal and pav. The final dish is topped with farsan or sev, onions, lemon and coriander. It is usually served hot with bread or rolls toasted with butter and buttermilk or dahi and papad. It is served as a breakfast dish, as a snack and also as a full meal.

India is a country rich with culture and food! Different people across the country eat food in their own unique way!
I understand it maybe shocking for you to understand this, however it’s very common for seasoned travelers to be open to other cultures instead of being judgemental as the purpose we travel is to explore other cultures and appreciate our differences!
Poha a simple dish is consumed in at least 10 different ways across this country! Maharashtra has kanda pohe, Gujarat is prefer to add potato and sometimes bhujia sev, Indore on the other hand serves it with namkeen, where as some people eat Poha with Sambhar, and there’s some who add it to Misal!
That’s the beauty of our country, and only those who’ve explored can be accepting and respectful of the same!
