Bruce Dickinson has always been outstanding in pushing his energy out to the audience. He's absolutely fantastic and the entire band follows. A 2-hour show with Maiden feels like a marathon. For the audience. Best live act ever
True story. To this day, seeing their "Somewhere in Time" tour in person is the best stage show I've ever seen. Only the Cirque Du Soleis "O" show has topped it.
When we studied Coleridge at school, I persuaded my English teacher to play my Poweslave record in class (this track at least). Myself and my best mate were in heaven. The rest of the class, not so much 😂😁
I walked into my English class, don't remember what year in high school, but the teacher had a boom box on her desk and passed out the lyrics to this song. In middle school I wore Maiden shirts to school so people were getting my attention and doing thumbs up and stuff. After the song was over even the goody goody kids were saying stuff like, "wow, that's the kind of stuff you've been listening to?"
I did the same with 'Still Life' from Piece of Mind. My 9th grade English teacher was a teen in the 60s musical and cultural explosion so he was all fir playing the music after we dissected the lyrics. He said that the music of the 60s was basically poetry in the form of songs. The metalheads and rock people loved it. The rest of the class hated it as we headbanged and played air guitar 🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤

Beth - You ask who's making music like this now. Iron Maiden, that's who. Their latest album came out 5 months ago and contains multiple epic stories. They still got the mojo!
I feel like progressive metal, in general, is the only relatively popular genre that's still doing music like this in general, including lots of bands influenced by Iron Maiden like Opeth.
@John Wheeler Senjutsu certainly isn't among my favorite Maiden but calling it the "worst album ever done" by them is an exaggeration. It's still better than the Blaze albums, and I'd also rank it ahead of No Prayer, Fear of the Dark (which is a pretty dismal album absent the title track), and Dance of Death. Like most late Maiden it takes a lot of listens to grow on you.
Maidens new album is an absolute musical journey, I could swear their longest song on that album is a 20 minute masterpiece, the talent and musical ability from the boys is simply out of this world.

Stunning stuff, storytelling music as it should be, performed by these legendary musicians. You are right Beth, music like this is hard to find nowadays. Of course there is, especially in the metal scene, but you have to work to find it and sort out the rare gems.
I remember being in high school back around when Powerslave came out. I listened to this record 24/7 as the typical teen and Maiden fan I was . Rime Of The Ancient Mariner was a true favourite from this record. And of course when my litterature teacher mentioned Samuel Taylor Coleridge, I was proud to tell everyone in the class that his famous epos was The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. Thanks for that, Iron Maiden. But also thank you for a great LP/recording that is timeless, and IMHO from your peak years. I got the Live After Death double live album as Christmas present the year after from my brother, which of course also got played to death. I think they'd cut out Bruce's little rant about drugs there though lol.
I love the respect that you show to Maiden and the sheer joy displayed when you listen to it. You really need to experience them live when the chance presents and while you still can, there’s nothing like it, and Bruce still delivers.
I am surprised you tackled this song being it is so long, but man, am I glad you did! One of my favorites by Maiden! 😍 I have tried to suggest the band Liliac to you in the past, as they are young, new, and on a mission to keep classic Metal alive today. They have been doing a great job of it, and many youth have discovered these classic songs thank to them.
"Empire Of The Clouds" a masterpiece. Nothing better explains what Bruce can still do today. Or how much he's grown. Unfortunately there is no live version here, but a really good one with lyrics. It's not a simple song anymore, it's a composition. It also shows well what Maiden is capable of. A true tragic story that dates back 100 years and is just beautifully told. Greetings from Germany and up the Irons. 🤘
Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) makes rock operas so there are still people making big epic musical pieces that take you on a journey. And Maiden themselves probably still make some long epic tracks. I have sung while dancing around a stage with an attractive 5' 9" blonde woman. People wonder how I can sing from B2 through to E flat5, I don't know, I just do it! I was taught all of the foundational basics of singing by a member of the Scottish Opera chorus a long time ago and that has kept my voice in shape for around 3 decades. Although it has to be noted that my vocal range when I was nineteen was F2 to F5, but I'm 53 now and I'm amazed my voice is still intact after a 2 week battle with coronavirus in in hospital ib 2021!
Beth doing prime Iron Maiden!? I can't click fast enough. and you included the god tier rant at the beginning! I'd appreciate you checking out Maiden with Paul Di'Anno in the future. He's not as good as Bruce but he deserves a re-appraisal. I'd recommend anything from the Live At The Rainbow release (particularly Remember Tomorrow or Phantom of the Opera).
Maiden is still out there doing this now. A song off their Book of Souls album "empire of the clouds" is about the R-101 disaster. Glory Hammer's entire discography is their fictional scifi story. A great older example is Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime album. It's one long story. Great album, you should definitely check it out.
@@atonesb5251 Honestly it's easy to fob Chris Bowes off as a joke artist, but the dude is genuinely a genius who just does whatever the hell he wants. There's few artists so talented yet flippant and headstrong, just doing whatever the hell they want, not settling in one genre. Mike Patton is another example, though obviously a better singer than Chris. Chris is an alright singer, but it's his songwriting and composing skills as well as his fluidity where he shines.
My first concert ever was this tour, March 1985 in San Francisco, just days after this was filmed. I've been to hundreds of concerts since, and dozens of Maiden shows too. None compare to this one. Maiden in their absolute prime. Nothing comes close. Up the Irons!!!🤘
@@thefitzs Agreed. He’s slowed down slightly, but you’d never know it if you hadn’t seen them live before. After the Legacy of the Beast show, I commented to my husband that he was slowing down a bit. My two teenagers, who hadn’t see them live before, said, “That was slowing down?!?” in unison.
@@6li8storm40 great story! Also great that you take your kids to see them. We've taken our (now grown) sons to several shows over the years and yes, I know what you mean about him slowing. It's like a category 5 storm downgrading to a cat 4.
@@thefitzs My oldest son saw them for the first time when he was seven. For Legacy of the Beast, my husband and I took all four kids, plus my oldest son’s girlfriend. My husband, oldest son, and I were the only ones who had seen them before.
Came here to talk about Steve Harris.. Beth mentioned how effortless Bruce's singing is, but Steve's bass playing... Man, he makes that look so easy. Those are some incredible bass lines, and so fast, and metronomic. And he does that for a whole show! He's both a beast and a machine.
And even after the 35 years since this came out, I can still sing along word perfect. Part of the reason I went to study English Lit at uni, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.
I saw it in '86 at the Worcester Centrum. It was my first concert ever and to this day is my top 3 concerts, along with Queensryche: Operation Livecrime and Metallica Binge & Purge
I've had the privilege to see Iron Maiden 2 times. Once in the late 80's and the other just 2 years ago. They were even more intense and enthralling 35 years later. Glad my son's first metal show was Maiden.
Sharing Maiden with our kids is amazing! My oldest son saw them for the first time on the Brave New World tour. He was seven. He’s seen them several times since. The last time was Legacy of the Beast. For that one, his three younger siblings came, too. It was their first time seeing Maiden. Fantastic family time. Unbeatable, really.
Indeed! Maiden has SO MANY songs that tell fantastic, epic stories in their classic theatrical style and extremely high production-value!!! "Stranger In A Strange Land", "Ghost Of The Navigator", "Empire Of The Clouds" are just a few that I think you should check out. UP THE IRONS!!!
"Rime" is even better now that there are 3 lead guitarists. There's a point where they all 3 play the same melody, but all 3 an octave apart from each other. It's the greatest thing I've ever heard.
Great video, thanks for choosing this one, as it's possibly my all time favourite Maiden video/song. It's just so epic....both sonically and visually! What you may not realise though, is that this concert was filmed 9 MONTHS into a world tour. It began in Poland in 1984 and this was filmed in March '85. The tour didn't end until July '85. 331 days, 187 concerts. That's not even a concert every 2 nights for nearly a year. Imagine not only the energy, but mental strength required to keep going like that for nearly a year. Unbelievable.

Iron Maiden still does this . Some bands are King Diamond and some Manowar songs are long story based . Maybe some Bathory the song is One Rode To Asa Bay ,not many do it any more . Type O Negative has longer songs . One is Christian Woman and also Wolf Moon ,hope you enjoy ...
Scene Iron Maiden four times so much energy I was front row and lost my shoe got out of a crowd said forget this I'm going back went back front row and stepped on my shoe would never happen again in a million years thanks Beth love watching you rock bump that beautiful hair
I think this is my favourite reaction from anyone ever. Especially from someone who knows what they are talking about. So glad you enjoyed the song and performance so much.
With the exception of Freddie (and maybe Dio?) probably the best live rock performer of all time. The ability to work a crowd AND be an amazing singer is such a rare combination.
Had to stop in the middle of this. How can you NOT love this girl.Shes lovely ,talented .funny. has awesome hair and loves Maiden.Keep ROARIN' Beth ❤️ from 🇨🇦 🤘
Merci Beth pour cette belle réaction, j'adore toujours tes observations et tu me redonnes à chaque fois le goût de retourner à ce groupe que j'aime tant.
As a die hard Maiden fan, getting a professional critique like this makes me appreciate Bruce’s voice and the band even more so. Thank you for making this wonderful video as it helps educate me on the technicalities of singing and how exactly he is able to do it
You should check out some post-reunion Bruce. I can totally recommend 'The Talisman' from the live concert film 'En Vivo'. In my opinion, this 10-minute banger, faultlessly performed is his best filmed live performance alongside 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' which you have already reacted to.
Oct 3rd. South Dakota. Seeing over 100 live acts in all sorts of Venues I've never in my life seen a performance that comes close. Every Aspect was impeccable, 10x beyond ANYTHING I've ever seen. I'm still processing. At 65+ yrs of age they WILL put any act act out there to shame. If you've yet to see them Go Now👊
Oh Beth, there are still bands creating stories in music, but they won't fit in the "spotify, amazon, itunes ect. algorythm" and thats why we miss them. but since i discovered iron maiden in the early 90's i love them. and i have to thank you to bring them back once a while on your channel. from germany with love, frank
I've watched many reactions including yours, but that reaction had me smiling ear to ear as i watched how you let yourself rock to that great song. Thank you for that!
This was the first tour I saw for Iron Maiden, 31 shows and many miles traveled to see them, and Im still excited every time. Never a bad show in my experience.
I saw that tour, front row!! Every emotion of joy at his storytelling excellence, his vocal excellence, and the bands instrumental excellence, was magnified by 1000 standing there looking right up at them! There’s no other band in history that told a story as well as they do! By the way, that energy came at the end of a 2 hour show as this was the last song of the set!!! And they just released a new album too! 40 years later they are still kicking butt!
I watched this show (on VHS😆) and listened to the album countless times in my childhood and teenage years. It was definitely the album I most listened to. But I hadn't seen this in years. It just brought tears to my eyes. Thanks again, Beth. It's always a joy to watch your videos. And worry not, there are still plenty of artists out there who still make music like that. We'll keep you posted.😉
Thank you so much for reacting to these Iron Maiden songs. I saw them in Adelaide Australia during this tour in 1985 and your reaction reminds me of myself when I first discovered Iron Maiden. Thank you!!!
LOVED this video! One of my favorites, and I loved hearing your breakdown. As for storytelling songs, I'm not sure of any recent ones that are on this level. BUT here are just a few classic storytelling gems that tell long, artful stories with great music (not sure they'd all make good reactions, since some live versions aren't as good and are usually shortened. But maybe you'll enjoy some new music!): Scenes from an Italian Restaurant - Billy Joel (I'm sure you know this one already.) Jungleland - Bruce Springsteen (The Tempe 1980 video would make a great reaction!) Telegraph Road - Dire Straits 2112 - Rush Cygnus X-1 - Rush Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres - Rush The Wall - Pink Floyd (The entire album tells a story! The movie is a great tie-in too.) Dogs - Pink Floyd Sheep - Pink Floyd (once again, the entire Animals album follows a concept) Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
Ohhhh great!!!! One of the most beautiful anthem of rock/metal world. Bruce's voice is insane!! He's an outstanding songwriter and talented dude...The whole "Powerslave" is a banger. Up the irons 🔥 greetings from Italy
I remember buying this on cassette and VHS when I was about 10 years old in the mid '80's. I was blown away and still love Maiden to this day. I actually used to play this (along with a load of other metal songs) on the piano as I was a fairly accomplished pianist. The other kids (and the teachers) in school used to like those performances. A few years later, we studied Coleridge in school, this song helped enormously! Teachers (I am one now) could not compare to the Maiden history lessons. Superb.
As an Aussie, the island where Meatloaf reigned -please do a Meatloaf reaction in honor of his passing - and No One has yet to analyze "For Crying out Loud" Some musicians claim it is the best male vocal ever
Please check out Van der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill's amazing vocal versatility. He grew up singing in a Jesuit choir. Very respected by his peers including Bruce Dickinson and David Bowie. A very underrated band outside of the progressive music world. Man-Erg or Pilgrims or Undercover Man live would be great also if you only do live videos would be a good start. Thanks!
My favorite band growing up. Hard to believe there are young people like you that enjoy this. No I don’t believe there is anyone making music like this. Thanks for reacting.
For artistic music that tells a story, it might be worth checking out the musical project Avantasia. I've lately been loving the album The Scarecrow, and they get some great musicians
If you're not nodding your head to this song you're not human! I STILL haven't seen Maiden live - maybe this is the year!😄 First time I've seen your videos - really enjoyed it and looking forward to more🙂
Maiden still makes storytelling music like this. Check out Empire of the Clouds or The Writing on the Wall from their latest records. And you should look into prog music for a bigger part of that storytelling niche. I highly recommend Ayreon's albums for that. Check out The Theatrer Equation or Electric Castle Live and Other Tales if you want that kind of thing in a live setting.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner was first published in 1796, so 18th century, not 19th. And Coleridge used to take laudanum, not hemp. Laudanum is a tincture of the opium poppy. So Bruce hadn't quite done enough research there.
Your reaction really moved me. Your clarifications and explanations are great. I've been a fan of iron maiden since 1982, your reaction made me enjoy it even more. And the best thing is that you look beautiful enjoying it. You're very beautiful. I know you liked it a lot. And I remember you said in your first reaction to Iron Maiden, it's all thanks to your uncle who introduced you to this band and said you should listen to it. Now look how you enjoyed it! Congratulations Beth! ❤👏👏👏👏👏
YEAAHH!!! Two songs that you will enjoy making - Dance of Death (En Vivo) + The Talisman (En Vivo), by Iron Maiden!!! If you don't like it I become a monk!
I have to say how much I enjoy watching the reactions of vocal coaches and opera singers to the likes of Iron Maiden and Meatloaf in particular. Two very powerful and brilliantly written acts.
I don't how she did it without her headphones coming off. That never works for me. Beth must be practicing off camera. Maybe one day we will get to see her do the full on head banging buggie.
"Please suggest to me people who are making music like this now" Iron Maiden. There is no other band who do what they do, as well as they do. Try listening to Empire of the Clouds off one of their more recent albums, The Book of Souls. It's about 18 minutes long and tells the story of a doomed airship on its maiden voyage. It's a masterpiece of storytelling and is guaranteed to send shivers down your spine. It's a beautiful, yet tragic and haunting song. Sadly they've never played it live and have said they probably never will, but it's a fantastic piece of music. It was written by Bruce Dickinson, and was recorded not long after he was treated for throat cancer. It's a remarkable work of art. Despite its length, the first I heard it I must have listened to it on repeat for about 2 hours straight. I couldn't get enough of it! Amazing song.
The album version intro of this concert tour is, “the moral of this story is, this is what not to do if a bird shits on you.” Still the most epic intro.
Beth, love your videos and insights into my favourite songs. You really rocked out there. For the best band for making fantastic story songs, with a wonderful vocalist, you have covered them before. NIGHTWISH, with either the epic songs, Poet and Pendulum, or Greatest Show on Earth. Would love to see your reaction. Keep your wonderful videos coming
Had to to hear to her reaction to this masterpiece i was blessed to hear myself that long ago sweet night at the Long Beach Arena. For this being my 1st live show at 16,this was such a classic i could sing this bad boy till my voice cracked and i still do.UP THE IRONS and god bless u,Beth.
I enjoy Bruce and Iron Maiden as much as you do. You are becoming a metal head, that's fantastic. Head banging!! I love it!! Thanks for this reaction Beth! You rock! Definitely!! Thanks for choosing this song which is amazing!
still plenty of prog / metal artists out there doing Amazing songs that tell a story and take you on a journey; Riverside, Steven Wilson, Big Big Train, Opeth, Katatonia
A Big Big Train reaction would be timely as they have just released the album recorded before their lead singer died suddenly last November. Judas Unrepentant is excellent and tells a great story, but there may be better options (I'm not a huge follower of the band).
I still remember hearing this song live for the first time on august 16th, 2008 in Assen in The Netherlands. There was a blood red moon in the sky and the vibes that night where incredible. I still get tears in my eyes hearing this song in every version
Yeah only in studio you can hear everything perfectly enough, but I can understand reactors want to see the band in action, is understandable after all
This is a vocal coach channel so of course she's going to react to a live version. Maiden are a live band anyway. Hallowed and fear of the dark are so weak on the studio versions but kick ass live.
Hey Beth. Love the Iron Maiden reaction. You used the right words, human story telling, imagination and art rock. They've always reminded me of Uriah Heep with David Byron, from the early-mid '70s, who I love. Here is a link to a YT channel that features NEW and CURRENT heavy metal bands in the vein of NWOBHM like Iron Maiden. I've been listening to this channel for about 5 years now and it's very interesting in how much is available today. Cheers! ua-cam.com/users/NWOTHMFullAlbums
I kinda found out about Uriah Heep by accident when I bought a best of cd for my older brother's birthday. I opened it up before I gave it to him strictly for quality control and now I have it and many of their cd's on my playlist. Everybody in the band are phenomenal musicians.
As much as I like when this particular song gets covered, I am always torn between this young/fast version and the one from long beach arena in what 2009 ? Completely different approaches, and I slightly prefer that one personally :D
My favorite Iron Maiden song of all of them. If I had to pick one because there are so many. This song just hits every single Iron Maiden check box for me. It's got progression , melody , story telling , complex rhythms , tight drumming , great solos , clear precise powerful singing , all of it.
Iron Maiden was my first major concert. It was July 7th, 1985 near the end of a year-long tour promoting the Powerslave album, and though they were exhausted, they made it a memorable event of a lifetime. 💜

Agreed. Saw them in 82 just after Bruce joined the band. Jaw dropping.
Larger than life, i listen to this song first with my elders in the year 1987,I was 7years old, almost like a dream
When we studied Coleridge at school, I persuaded my English teacher to play my Poweslave record in class (this track at least). Myself and my best mate were in heaven. The rest of the class, not so much 😂😁
Our teacher wondered why a couple of us were suddenly so into 19th century poetry... but then, I went to school in the mid 80s :D

Steve Harris is, hands down, my favorite bass player. Dude's a metronome
He's a monster, heart and soul of Maiden.
Extremely underappreciated as a composer and lyricist as well.
I do not think that anyone who knows anything about music underappreciates Steve in any way.
He's steed galloping.
Came here to mention Steve. Beth mentioned how effortless Bruce's singing is, but Steve's bass playing... he makes that look so easy. Those are some incredible bass lines, and so fast, and, as you say, metronomic.
He's both a beast and a machine. .
Bruce is in my book one of the most charismatic persons in music and Beth is the Bruce of vocal coach reactions.

Gloryhammer is awesome. I know they're kind of a gag band, but that first album is unironically one of the best power metal albums of all time.
I was at Long Beach for this recording
Another legend. Bruce was The MAN back in the Day. ( and YES, amazing live, THEY are amazing live )
Bruce is still the man
I agree with Tyler, he is still the man, going strong.
So glad you did this version from the 80’s, heyday maiden is so damn good, I saw this tour when I was 16, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen
Imagine keeping this tempo for an entire show, it's really impressive.
And they played this song at every show on the tour. 189 in total.
There is NO ONE like Bruce Dickinson, and no band like Iron Maiden.
I know this also by heart..
I'm sick of "fans" hating on Janick Gers, the guitar trio is the happiest accident Iron Maiden has ever had. UP THE IRONS!
@@RGK93 anyone who shits on Janic isn't a fan and definitely not a musician
If people want history lessons just listen to Iron Maiden. I've been doing it since 1981.

Still love your hair 🙂 Rock on Beth 🤟
Iron Maiden still does this . Some bands are King Diamond and some Manowar songs are long story based . Maybe some Bathory the song is One Rode To Asa Bay ,not many do it any more . Type O Negative has longer songs . One is Christian Woman and also Wolf Moon ,hope you enjoy ...
You must see the russian version of this iron maiden song ))) ua-cam.com/video/JIgZfJUOA4Y/v-deo.html

I would love a cooperation between you and Elizabeth Zharoff (the Charismatic Voice).
Thank you Peter, for making Beth Roars an Iron Maiden fan, so that we can enjoy her reactions on more Iron Maiden songs.
Scene Iron Maiden four times so much energy I was front row and lost my shoe got out of a crowd said forget this I'm going back went back front row and stepped on my shoe would never happen again in a million years thanks Beth love watching you rock bump that beautiful hair
I saw Iron Maiden in 1984, the Powerslave tour, in Montreal Canada. It was the best show that I ever seen that year.
I have been lucky to see this song 3 times live...epic each time
Lucky!
Dio was far more consistent live than Freddie Mercury in my opinion. As was Bruce dickinson.
Agree !! this performance is outstanding !!
Yes! Bruce absolutely wails on that one.
If you've yet to see them Go Now👊
Desde mi Buenos Aires querido, Argentina un gran abrazo para todos los hermanos metaleros del mundo! ! ! ! Bruce un genio! !!!
Oh Beth, there are still bands creating stories in music, but they won't fit in the "spotify, amazon, itunes ect. algorythm" and thats why we miss them.
but since i discovered iron maiden in the early 90's i love them. and i have to thank you to bring them back once a while on your channel.
from germany with love, frank
there are still bands out there telling stories, iron maiden are still going strong, sabaton, nightwish to name a few
I've watched many reactions including yours, but that reaction had me smiling ear to ear as i watched how you let yourself rock to that great song. Thank you for that!
Thanks for reacting to this gem :) One of my favourite Maiden songs ! Up the Irons !
They are absolute legends.
We were at that Long Beach Arena show.
What a poem/song. Love it.
But maybe you'll enjoy some new music!):
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant - Billy Joel (I'm sure you know this one already.)
Jungleland - Bruce Springsteen (The Tempe 1980 video would make a great reaction!)
Telegraph Road - Dire Straits
2112 - Rush
Cygnus X-1 - Rush
Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres - Rush
The Wall - Pink Floyd (The entire album tells a story! The movie is a great tie-in too.)
Dogs - Pink Floyd
Sheep - Pink Floyd (once again, the entire Animals album follows a concept)
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
Surprised you didn't include Xanadu by Rush, also inspired by a Coleridge poem.
Ohhhh great!!!! One of the most beautiful anthem of rock/metal world. Bruce's voice is insane!! He's an outstanding songwriter and talented dude...The whole "Powerslave" is a banger. Up the irons 🔥 greetings from Italy
Nice reaction. My suggestion: "Children of the Damned" live Hammersmith 82
Superb.
You would really like Iron Maiden's "The Talisman", a wonderful story song
rime of the ancient mariner I think is my top most listened iron maiden song, this is just gold
As an Aussie, the island where Meatloaf reigned -please do a Meatloaf reaction in honor of his passing - and No One has yet to analyze "For Crying out Loud" Some musicians claim it is the best male vocal ever
Fantastic analogy. Absolutely loved your reaction. It's so good to see someone watch it for the first time. Almost brought a tear... Great job. 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Their minds, anticipating the dawn of the day,
Shall never know what's waiting mere insight away
Too far, too soon.
My favorite band growing up. Hard to believe there are young people like you that enjoy this. No I don’t believe there is anyone making music like this. Thanks for reacting.
What makes this performance even more impressive is this is 7 months into probably their longest, most gruelling tour ever.
Powerslave from the same concert Beth. I admire Bruce's theatricals story telling. God gifted this dude
For artistic music that tells a story, it might be worth checking out the musical project Avantasia. I've lately been loving the album The Scarecrow, and they get some great musicians
Yes, Tobias Sammet is a strong candidate, as well as Arjen Lucasson's Projects Ayreon and Star One. Also Nightwish comes to mind.
@@jhdix6731 I'm not familiar with Ayreon, but I loved the Star One album Space Metal, and Nightwish are definitely epic
Tobias Sammet is the WORST singer in all of metal history
@@AndreCoelhoMatos But he's great in picking the right guest vocalists to supplement his voice for his Avantasia compositions.
If you're not nodding your head to this song you're not human! I STILL haven't seen Maiden live - maybe this is the year!😄
First time I've seen your videos - really enjoyed it and looking forward to more🙂
Maiden still makes storytelling music like this.
Excellent job young lady. I was at these shows at Long Beach Arena. Absolutely brilliant shows.
Nightwish is definitively one band providing journeys like this, I see you havent done The Poet and The Pendulum or The Greatest Show On Earth yet 🙃
My favorite song! I saw them plating it! Great tour 2008 in Madison square garden ! Bruce is the beast!
Rime of the Ancient Mariner was first published in 1796, so 18th century, not 19th. And Coleridge used to take laudanum, not hemp. Laudanum is a tincture of the opium poppy.
So Bruce hadn't quite done enough research there.
Who the fuck cares
Back then Wikipedia was the drunk guy in the corner in your local pub. So minor details came out wrong.

We did it, guys. Beth headbanging to metal. Inscribe this moment into the holy annals of the internet. :)
I don't how she did it without her headphones coming off. That never works for me. Beth must be practicing off camera. Maybe one day we will get to see her do the full on head banging buggie.
Yes. I remember the first Iron Maiden she did (thank you Peter), Hallowed be thy name at the Hammersmith
"Please suggest to me people who are making music like this now"
Iron Maiden.
I wish they'd scan/restore the original camera negative and release a blu-ray of this. Only being available in SD is criminal.
Your best videos are always the ones that you have a blast doing.
Then I get educated on singing and I am made to smile.
Thanks.
The album version intro of this concert tour is, “the moral of this story is, this is what not to do if a bird shits on you.” Still the most epic intro.
A Classic Song and story. Performed by one of the best rock singers ever
I think Beth is a true Iron Maiden fan after watching her getting into it.
They're great live, probably one of the best musically speaking. But I wish reactors would listen to the studio versions.
I would like that too, but I can see why they prefer to hear it live with no help from any special studio techniques to fix mistakes.
@@philipwaller9477 I disagree. The studio versions are awesome, so are they live.
What memories! This is from Maiden's 4 night stint in Long Beach, Calif. I was there for Thurs & Sunday nights
Cheers!

I kinda found out about Uriah Heep by accident when I bought a best of cd for my older brother's birthday. I opened it up before I gave it to him strictly for quality control and now I have it and many of their cd's on my playlist. Everybody in the band are phenomenal musicians.
Hands down my favorite Iron Maiden song! Thanks so much for doing this!
As much as I like when this particular song gets covered, I am always torn between this young/fast version and the one from long beach arena in what 2009 ? Completely different approaches, and I slightly prefer that one personally :D
I like them equally. Which one I gravitate to depends completely on my mood.
Was fortunate to see that tour A musical piece of art, well put.
The Flight 666 version of this is a lot better. He sings better and the mix is a lot better.
My favorite Iron Maiden song of all of them. If I had to pick one because there are so many. This song just hits every single Iron Maiden check box for me.
It's got progression , melody , story telling , complex rhythms , tight drumming , great solos , clear precise powerful singing , all of it.
Savatage has a couple of albums with great storytelling: Streets, Dead Winter Dead, The Wake Of Magellan to name a few.
D.W.D. is a perfect start
Hi Beth! Okay you have outdone yourself with this video! It’s my favorite band and singer so pat yourself on the back! I am beyond happy!😍
Iron Maiden was my first major concert. It was July 7th, 1985 near the end of a year-long tour promoting the Powerslave album, and though they were exhausted, they made it a memorable event of a lifetime. 💜
Musical stories are most often found in concept albums, and I agree that they're great and I'd love to see more songs that tell stories.
