Absolutely!!! Still Iron Maiden’s ONLY singer!! I dunno what they all did after the Maiden Japan stuff but, what a great band they were. I’m just at the part where they’re talking about the Women In Uniform video. I bought that 12” single with the 2 live tracks on the b-side(I think) not long after buying the first album completely because of the artwork and the pic on the back. What a pleasant surprise getting it home and listening to what I thought at the time was a perfect album. Still do as a matter of fact.
What makes this so different from other documentaries is that all of the band members respect each other for their talents and they seem like they are on good terms. It’s fantastic
Yeah. I did not really notice that while watching the clip, but after I saw your comment I thought, woah! That is really rare, I don`t think I have seen another band with that kind of maturity and actual former members saying nothing but good things about a band they left or were fired from. Really cool of all of them.
he did make a mistake though... firing Clive Burr. I didn't even know about him until recently, when I heard the live at Hammersmith. I never thought Iron Maiden could be any better, but turns out, they could. They're already an amazing band, top3 history of RoR material, so that says a lot.
Maiden, Sabbath, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lemmy, Judas Priest, Who, Queen, Stones, Zeppelin and much more. There must be some kind of mystical force on this island.
When Guns 'n Roses came out with Appetite With Destruction my buddy and I bought tickets with G 'n R opening and Iron Maiden headlining. G 'n R canceled and Maiden played for 3-1/2 hours in the rain! One of the best shows ever. Eff you Axel
Despite only being 3 at the time, I was in the 77' lineup. The rattles. The band decided they wanted to go in a different direction and move on without me.
I saw them perform their 1st North American show Concert Hall aka "The Masonic Temple" Toronto Ontario Canada Church/Yonge I believe it was summer 1980 Killers Paul Dianno 1981 saw the "Beast on the Road" Show Massey Hall Toronto Ontario Canada Shuter/Yonge 1 of The best sounding Metal concerts I've ever seen Bruce Dickinson Lead Throat
I was 12 in 85 when I heard of Iron Maiden. Up until that point it took me 3 hours to mow my parents lawn. After I got a Walkman and a Powerslave tape, it took me 2 hours and I burnt out the tractors clutch twice that summer because that album got me so fired up. It was the coolest thing I had ever heard. I still remember my dad yelling at me to slow down. By the end of it I had bought all the other albums, better headphones, and my dad gave up and bought a better tractor that I couldn't break and life was great. I have gone through many music changes since then but Maiden has never left my rotation.
My first Maiden Concert was Iron Maiden and Judas Priest in 1982. Dad made me promise to cut the grass at my own house before the concert. We had a push mower and I pushed that mower as fast as I could run. Finished, showered, grabbed my Leather and went to the Greatest Concert Over ever seen!!!! I'm 53 and seen some great Bands. Maiden will always be #1.
The thing that always struck me was how they supported their fan base. I think it was the World Piece tour and they’d played Bristol Hippodrome. It was a foul night and about 20 of us were hanging round (wet through) waiting for autographs. They invited us to wait in the theatre while they got changed rather. After about 15 minutes they came out, chatted, signed everything and made a great impression. Not all bands even bothered with signings. Acts like these allowed them to hold on to their grass roots. While becoming the biggest band in the world. Great video!
I agree. I used to argue with myself over which lineup is better. But both are great, but different. I like the first 2 more than anythin they have done since "Somewhere in Time". They play with the same formula on every song. E-D-C-B-A, repeat. Still, they were huge for me back in the mid 80`s.
Best 2 maiden albums. PERIOD!!! killers was the first album that became my all time fav metal album , it was new I was 12 and bought it because of the album cover. Best chance I ever took
I always liked the firsst 2 albums, I didn't know who paul was until 2 days ago though, his live performances are amazing, I think he was maidens best vocalist for sure.
Paul was a great vocalist no doubt. Those first 2 albums had a punk feel to them and I love them. But no one touches Bruce. But of course that’s my opinion.
Steve is a classic lesson in toughness and perseverance in the tough, unpredictable music-business world. He ignored all the early bumps in the road, the spinouts, the disappointments, and simply... KEPT AT IT. Thanks, Steve. I'm glad you and the rest of the guys finally made it.
He's like the happiest musician I've ever seen! He's always just smiling while playing, you know he loves his job and you envy that a bit. He seems like he's never had a bad day in his life, and as a cynical asshole myself, I can say that he inspires me to enjoy life more.
Up The F'ing IRONS! My first Concert was in 1984. Dad dropped me and two buddies off for World Slavery Tour. Saw them many times after that. Took my 14 year old son to his first concert during the Book of Souls Tour in 2017! Going to see them in 2 weeks today and taking my now 16 year old son and 12 year old daughter for her first concert! Can't wait! Thank You Iron Maiden for being such a huge part of my life!! Can't wait for my Christmas Card!!! \m/ UP THE IRONS \m/
Dad saw the powerslave tour when he was 16, took me and my wife on 2019 to the legacy of the beast tour. My dad and I just head banged our asses off singing every lyric to every song.
Iron Maiden Channel, thank you for making this content available. This was a truly generous decision to make these available for free. I hope the band can reach new fans by having the documentaries online. You certainly have my continued support!
Loved how Paul concedes that Bruce was the best singer Maiden ever had, quite the gentlemanly move. Personally I was a fan of both, loved early Maiden as much as the later stuff. Paul has a great voice, respect to all of the band.
It is noticeable that A LOT of people really do love Maiden with Paul. Even very young people, like the kids in my family. There's something very special there in early Maiden.
I lived on the same council estate as Paul Oliver close Leyton e10 I lived in Clifford hicks tower and Paul lived at 61 Arthur punshion tower the last time I saw paul was down Leyton high road and I said Paul what happened with maiden he just said Peter mate I just didn’t want it anymore years later as a London chauffeur I actually drove Rod Smallwood and drove him to reading he couldn’t believe it I even told him where Paul lived knocked him for six synchronicity I love it the books gonna be interesting well done iron maiden live love leave a legacy you’ve done it fellas
First 2 albums have a raw, primal feel that I just love. The Ides Of March and then Wrathchild is one the best metal album openers I've ever heard. Ides of March just has like a grand/epic feeling I can't really describe with words, and then transitions nicely into the fury of Wrathchild. And I love Paul's screams on the title track.
Every interview w Dickinson, he's laughing and smiling, never has a bad thing to say about anyone. Even during Mission from 'Arry, he's trying to keep the peace. Probably a cool dude to have a beer with.
I don't know about trying to keep the peace. He walked in to the room with a tape recorder running, and said to Nicko "what would happen if a lighting rig was about to fall down on your head?" which started Steve and Nicko off again!
@@briankoski2532 i’d be excited if my dad gave me some iron maiden stuff that he has, he has plenty of old posters and shirts. i hope he gives them to me some day! love this band.
Bruce Dickinson is my very favorite of all time. Iron Maiden holds a special spot in my heart. Seen em more times I can count. Just here to thank the band for all the times over the year. Cheers.
He's the reason I became a drummer - after I bought Killers in 1983 or so. He was extremely innovative and interesting. Nothing against NM, but Clive was a technician of the first class.
@@courtneywhite8470, Other than snotty jazz types, I don't think Neil Peart was or is underrated in the least. This coming from a former jazz drummer who played jazz drums to rock music (and made it work). Switched to guitar in my late teens. Still play, but arthritis is keeping me from playing the way I used to. And when you are a guitarist and your fingers don't cooperate anymore, it SUCKS!
I always wondered if they booted him to het Nicko. The way clive says: “one they they just asked me to leave and its not like i wanted to leave”, kind of gives me the impression they shined a turd for this documentary on why they booted him, rather than say: “we asked him to leave cause. we wanted nicko.
@@wingsken There's a bit of conflicting information on the real reason why Clive was fired. One source says Clive was drinking too much and playing gigs too hungover to the point he had a puke bucket next to his riser. Clive claims he was sick with a stomach bug. I also heard it's because Steve wanted a drummer who could do different beats, as well as his illness showing early symptoms at the end of the tour. I guess we'll never really know the true story.
Iron Maiden is and has been my all time favorite band for close to thirty five years. I was 8 years old back in 1986 when I first listened to Hallowed Be Thy Name, and it changed my life forever. I even knew as a little kid that there was something very special about Iron Maiden compared to most other bands. I love every era from the band with all three lead singers. Steve Harris in my opinion is the greatest songwriter ever, and members like Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Janick Gers, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Dianno, and Blaze Bayley also helped cowrite many amazing songs throughout their whole catalog. I have seen Iron Maiden live many times, and last year was the most recent show I have seen off the Legacy Of The Beast Tour. They are still a phenomenal band live , and they make most bands that are younger than then look really bad. They are still having a great time playing live. They are still running around the stage, and smiling the whole time. They all still love performing , and they have not lost a beat. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here been a fan since around the same age. Saw them live couple years ago for the book of the dead tour and they played all the old bangers like they just came out! They look like they’re still having fun and I was so happy to see them still killing it UP THE IRONS!
Been a fam since 79 yet for the first couple of yesrs didn't 'know' what band was playing those songs. I wish I'd gone to more than a couple of concerts but both were amazing, the last one I took the kids anf their friends (sometimes driving an 8 passenger vehicle pays lol). One rocking mom and 8 kids an almost 2 hour drive there. It was amazing. Up The Irons!!! Forever 🤘🏽🤘🏽
got to see Maiden last year for the first time, after being a fan for 19years.it was life changing seeing them and I probably won't see them again as i live in south africa. But I can still die happy knowing i saw them.
I know how you feel. I saw them when I was stationed in CA. But since I have moved back home (SC), have not had many chances to go see them, either too far to travel or no money when they come close. At least we will have those memories!! :)
You saw them live. Period. That's all that matters. Shit I'd gladly watch a geriatric Jimmy page and Robert plant do a show from their rocking chairs and walkers man. I saw Alice in Chains a few weeks ago and it was a great time. [Jerry Cantrell the lead guitar for Alice was a big Maiden fan as was I in the 80s in high school... if you are lucky enough to see a great band live, never knock it. Who cares if ur was this tour or that tour. You saw them. Period.
I love Bruce both as a singer and a person, massively talented guy, a qualified airline pilot and was also one of the best fencers in the country, seriously talented fella. Paul is none of those things, but he really was such an awesome fit for early Maiden. I think his voice is hugely underrated, he can wail with the best of them but has that awesome aggressive punky edge, and some of the gnarly inflections at the end of his lines is magic.
I briefly met Dickinson when refitting one of the 757s they used to tour as a tenured tech for the company who built them. It was the first time I saw the suits that actually listened to Maiden too. One of my peers tossed some smack their way after they pretended to have any knowledge of the passenger doors we were working on. One of them looked and touched but "Lou" stopped him and said "oh NOW you give a sht about what we do here ehh?" Dickinson said "Leave those boys be, they are the only ones actually doing a job right now" or something to that effect 😂
@@j-david34 One of Steve Harris' daughters is in a rock band, not sure what their name is but i believe they have an album out. Nice to have connections
@@rickleblanc8900 Steve's eldest daughter Lauren Harris is a Rock singer and his son George Harris is a lead guitarist of a melodic metalcore band The Raven Age. They were opening act of Legacy Of Beast Tour in 2019
Steve Harris is one of the greatest bassists ever. I can only think of one or two people whose ability tops his. He really is central to that Maiden sound
In Bruce’s book , Clive and steve where clashing heads at the notb time and someone had to give. It does seem that the maiden train couldn’t stop in those early days for anyone or problem. Must had been tough as a memebers health and energy wise.
Same. And Paul’s still my favorite singer. I’m 53 now and drifted away from metal years ago but still have a handful of favorites from that time in my collection. Killers is one of those and I can listen to it anytime, anywhere. “Prodigal Son” makes my eyes swell every time I put it on🥲🤘🏼
RESPECT to Paul for saying Bruce is the better singer takes a real man, for me I loved Paul's rasp and punky voice those first two albums he sang on are GOLD MAN ! Respect always Paul
Yes I think Paul is special in his own way, i've had phases as a maiden where I really lived on the first two albums and sound house tapes almost exclusively.
Punk voice exactly. Killers is the first real metal álbum i bought. Bad ass. I still recall vividly listening to it at night with headphones blasting back in 1983
there's three or four of us who don't care for the operatic maiden. i think paul is the better singer and his voice sounds better. long live the di'anno!
Paul blows hot and cold. There are things like this where he really sings his praises, but I've also seen live clips of him slagging Bruce off and taking the piss out of Run to the Hills.
What amazes me is the number of band members that have all come and gone, yet there is no animosity. They can still all get along to this day. It doesn't normally happen that way.
I was 12. 3 weeks of grass cutting money - $10. First record - Iron Maiden. I still listen to it once or twice a week. I will until I die... “Up The Irons” \m/, ,\m/
first casette i listened to was "a real dead one" back in the early 90s. We were dumpster diving behind the local record town and that was the gold i pulled from the dumpster. the rest is fkin history. omw to see iron maiden in concinatti tonight @ 730 🤘😎🤘
Nothing but respect for Maiden! Steve Harris is my favorite bass player, has been for MANY years......a huge influence on my bass playing...thank you, Steve!
Fuck yeah..my fav band since a teen and still wearing their shirts and new teens look at me like that's their music not a older guys lol..all the way Eddie!!
I'm 22 and the first time I saw Maiden live was RiR 2019. Went there to see the Scorpions; left the place mesmerized by Maiden. I never imagined that I'd know the lyrics to all the songs they played, but I did, and - wow - I'll never forget that night. Today the festival organizers just announced they're coming back on 2021 and this time I'm bringing my mom and sister w me 🤟🏻
Wow, what a ride. I've been a Fan of the Band for over 30 years. I clashed with my parents back in the day who thought the Devil would possess my soul through Iron Maidens music, sadly through 7 Christian boys homes and Military School. Throughout all the beatings, Bible verses and P.T. drills . Guess what I'm Still a Iron Maiden Fan !!! And no surprise there is no Devil in me. Never was Never will be. But Eddie will live Forever . Thank you to the Band and Everybody who made it possible to allow me at such a young age to have the strength to get through the toughest times of a kids Life through the power of thier lyrics . Thank you for your vision and strength. This was a powerful run down memory lane
There are a lot of bands that i really loved growing up but none of them ever made me feel connected to a band like Maiden. From the very first song i heard from them I was enthralled with this band. The connection was instantaneous.
same here, used to wear a vision street wear shirt and should mention they're finally reissuing classic Santa Cruz and Powell Peralta boards. I may get one at 41 years old lol finally (had a variflex but decent trucks and bearings and wheels back then)
I bought the first album as soon as it showed up (according to the shop owner), based on the cover. Still have it, still listen to it. That 1st and Killers are easily my favorite Maiden albums. Both equally good for different reasons.
Man, it is such a nostalgia kick to see Clive again. I'm watching this documentary again for the first time in many, many years, and seeing him again brings back a LOT of great memories from back when he was still alive and MAIDEN did those great charity gigs for his MS trust. God bless him, RIP.
Re-watched this one literally a few days ago, and just learned of Di'Anno's tragic passing. RIP, Maiden couldn't have become what they did were it not for him. My country hosted his last ever Maiden gig as well 🇩🇰
I was only born almost 16 years ago, but my dad told me to give Run to the Hills a listen... a year later I was going to my first concert, it was September 7th, 2019. Legacy of the beast, as soon as the lights turned on, I realized this was the best concert I *will* ever go to.
@@allisonlaurenza2787 some parents are amazing. it was in 88 my mum got tired of listening the same 3 michael jackson songs i had on a tape and sat me down to give me "the talk". The talk was her putting on the first maiden album, show me how to change records on the turntable and where her lp collection was (more than 100 rock albums, rainbow, bowie, clapton you know the works. My man i have almost lived a full life but the only memory that i can't afford to lose is that first natural high i got as a 6 year old to prowler's intro riff and wah. Was lucky enough to see maiden on 2009 with all three guitars and all the mechanical props.
@Bob I was about the same age, possibly a year or two older. Yes, I remember the smell of those cassettes. After they started making tapes clear instead of white.
When I was about 7, my mother gave me a cassette that she got from a friend which was a home recording of the Powerslave vinyl. But the tape was too short and it cut off in the middle of the solo after the narration in Rime of the Ancient Mariner. At around 9.50. I went years longing to hear the last 3 minutes until I got hold of the CD when they re-released it in 98. I was obsessed with that song, years later we had some task in school to translate a song lyric, of course I chose the Mariner. And I did the Number of the Beast too just for fun. And so on.
Always one of my favourite bands. First saw them on the killers tour as a spotty 13 year old. They invited us backstage at Bradford St George's Hall where we met the whole band. For a 13 year old it was an absolute dream come true. The best part, they were all just amazing, down to earth blokes. Signed my record sleeves, Still got them to this day. Took time and showed a real interest in us. Their investment? Well, at 51, I still watch them live and still have a great affinity with this amazing band. 🤘🤘
I bet a lot of those early former band members are kicking themselves now. Since the 80's. Little did they know how much talent and how serious Steve Harris really was about making music. GREAT music.
@You Tuber quite right, band members have to jell. Ive been in plenty of bands were musically it was great but we just did not get a long. its all temporary any ways. without the member changes they could not have found their sound.
@Don Tommasino Talent and drive are not enough. I knew basically a clone of Steve Harris and he never made it. He had the talent and the drive. He put everything into it and in the end the band could only manage to become a regionally known by a few hundred kids...or maybe few thousand. Unfortunately you also need luck. Maiden was lucky in that fhey got a manager who got them into gigs that gave them more exposure.
Maiden is the band who treates with more respect his audience! First time I saw them I was 15 during World Slavery Tour in Madrid ....and since I have been to their concerts every single time they have come to my city... Up the Irons! 🏴🤘🇬🇧
18:29 RIP Paul Di'Anno🤘😔🤘 1958-2024 You will be missed by many. You're what kept Maiden alive all these years. Wish the world was better to you. You'll always be better than Elvis to me.
Bruce Dickinson was the front man iron maiden deserved, his persona, voice and just general frontmanship is what helped Maiden soar to the heights they did.
@@bbadam19 That's true, but at the same time the band was weary, after all they were playing 85% of their songs for 3 straight years. Di' Anno didn't want full world tours, and Clive probably the same. They needed some kind of refreshment, otherwise they would eventually be like some earlier GNR version - known for 3 albums made in the earlier years and tour the rest of their lives with (almost) the same catalog. Bruce and later Nicko allowed Maiden not only to survive the 80's, but made the band one of the most influential in the world.
been a maiden fan for a very long time!!! because of not having the funds to see them ,timing ,and things it took me over 30 years to finally see them in concert for the 1st time in phiily for the legacy of the beast tour it was epic and the best part is i got to experience it after all these years with my son!!!!!! truely a moment in my life ill never forget!!!!!!!\m/ \m/
Same here. Took 30 years to finally get to see them and the last show was with our kids and their friends. It was awesome to see those kids enjoy Maiden as much as we old headbangers do. Since 79 though I didn't "know" it was Maiden until a couple of years later. Up The Irons !!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Bought this on DVD actually was a gift.. One of the best I've ever received... Every HardCore Maiden fan and even some who can take em or leave em, everyone should watch how steve's drive and no bullshit attitude make Iron Maiden a Force to be reckoned with to this day.. As a bass player, Steve is who I wanted to emulate, but also Geezer, Geddy, JohnPaulJones, CliffBurten, and many others..
The first album I ever bought was Killers. I adored the first two albums and I still listen to them religiously. Bruce is amazing too, I had a chance to hear them live, but Paul Di'Anno will forever be my absolute favorite.
My mask at 21:00 - I made a plaster cast (from a student on the Art Foundation course at East Ham College Of Technology) then made copies of it using a vacuum forming machine and sometimes I let the plastic get too hot and it blistered and I stuck them on a good one for support. I called it the plague mask and gave it to Dave Beasley for the show. I should have kept the cast and the other masks. Who knew Maiden would get so big?
@@Surv1ve_Thrive Yeah. I was friends with Dave Beasley and lived next door to him during 1978/9. I used to go to their shows and remember when they made their demo and when they had their van and all the gear nicked. There were a lot of great bands around at that time but they really worked hard and it paid off.
Terrible cover of a terrible song, I ain't some panty waist male feminist who thinks it's sexist, I just think it's a stupid song, now I do find sexy chicks in uniform attractive, but lyrically it just don't fly.

Proud to have seen them in 1980 (Killers tour) with Paul D on vocals at the Taunton Odeon. That venue is now a faded bingo hall, but Maiden were tremendous.
Bob Schneider actually he does. He’s way better at low vocals and he had really good highs too. Don’t get me wrong, they’re both great at what they’ve done for Maiden but Paul had a greater range.
Despite only being 3 at the time, I was in the 77' lineup. The rattles. The band decided they wanted to go in a different direction and move on without me.
This took me back. I have seen Maiden 3 times in the past but always with Paul Di-Anno as the vocalist. The first gig was I believe supporting Judas Priest at Hammersmith Odeon, so impressed that also went to see them at the Top Rank club in Brighton on their first headline tour of the UK, support band were Praying Mantis - had a really good chat to both Steve and Paul before the show outside for at least 30 minutes. Lastly back to Hammersmith where they were headlining. Great band and they give the impression they haven't changed.
I love Iron Maiden. My dad offered for me to go with him to see Iron Maiden in San Antonio but instead I went to my stupid middle school prom. I regret that and I wish I could turn the clock back. My dad has seen them live because my dad is into old school rock, that's what he grew up listening to. Being from Mexico and loving rock music, it's pretty amazing how much of an effect music has on people, regardless of whether my dad could understand them or not. I love my dad and Iron Maiden fucking kicks ass!
They absolutely captivated me, starting in the early 80's. I was 9 years old listening to a live performance on the radio in my jammies under the sheets praying my mom wouldn't come in and turn the radio off. I still listen to them enjoying the music just as much as I did when I was a kid...and Im 49. Now I recognize the beauty and honest in their lyrics.
And God bless Clive Burr rest in peace always remembered never forgotten will always be one of the best drummers to Iron maiden,Nicko Mcbrain is a true genius as well to Iron maiden as well much appreciated 👍👍
The quote the 1st album was easy because they'd spent their life playing it is spot on. That goes for most bands. It just so happens that maidens early material was phenomenal. They never had an issue with coming up with something to write about. Songwriting was always a strong point with these guys. A great bunch of guys even the older original and past members. The world needs more Maiden.
wish i was born in the good old days of true old school heavy metal music the early 1980,s were the best days for heavy metal i am sure people miss those days
Aidan French Yesh, I was lucky. Born in 1960, my first concert was in 1975 when I was 15. Black Sabbath, at the International Amphitheater in Chicago.7th row, main floor. 6 bucks a ticket. My buddy's aunt was eighteen and she and her boyfriend took us. We smoked a lot of pot while there . The whole place was smoked out. I never did see Maiden. I never really listened to them then. There's so many bands from that era, it's hard not to miss out on some. I have been to at least a hundred rock concerts though.Mostly from '75 to '95.
Yes it was awesome and I miss those days. Goings to gigs, having a few pints at some metal bar. Buying a new album listening to it all night. Time to build that time machine.
I vividly remember that '83 Dortmund gig... Absolutely mind-blowing to have all these iconic bands in one place!! And here we are, 40 years on, and it's these same 5 lads (with the addition of Janick obviously) we get to enjoy on stage in 2023!!!! 🤘😎🤘 Up the irons!!!!! 🙏
Amazing interviews! This shows you how important Dave Murray was for the band. He had a connection with two of the band key members (Smith and McBain). UP THE IRONS!!!
Iron Maiden saved my soul. They led me to seek truth. Thank You, Steve. Thank YOU. Thanks to Nicko, Steve, Dave, Adrian, Clive and everyone else involved.
You guys ROCK I'm 57 I remember when you started you guys got better and better thru each album my favorites are run to the hills number of the beast the trooper and aces high my interest in history really made these songs come completely alive I still listen to these. Rob Engles. Terre Haute Indiana. USA
Steve, contact me, I was the drummer at the audition in that East london rehearsal room,, with the Ludwig Blue Vistalite kit, came back for a second day, you said yes, but too young, '76, I was gutted!Love to see you again lolx
I played guitar, not bass, but I can easily see why you do play bass. Steve is an excellent bassist and the heart of the band that already has a lot of heart. I love his galloping riffs, they're just phenomenal. I was a massive Metallica fanboy back in high school and adored Cliff, but Steve has always been better imo.
Anyone else rewatching this to honour Paul?!
R.I.P. Paul. Maiden wouldn't be where they are now without your amazing contribution

This is quite good, 1 of my top 5 fave rock doc movies. 🎼🤟
It's an English gentleman thing.
I’m not a fan of the band, but I have a huge respect for these guys. Extremely talented and they look like very goods persons.
Yeah. I did not really notice that while watching the clip, but after I saw your comment I thought, woah! That is really rare, I don`t think I have seen another band with that kind of maturity and actual former members saying nothing but good things about a band they left or were fired from. Really cool of all of them.

Up the Iron’s
Dang I had to push one of those old push lawnmowers.
Completely relate to this story
I was 15 and got the album that same year. I might have been running from you and your miserable tractor of vengeance 😂
I couldn't agree more!!!
There's just something about those first 2 albums with Paul. Their energy was unmatched.
Best albums

The first two albums will always be my favourites.

Hey, let's blow up the UA-cam comment section by insisting that Blaze Bayley was Maiden's best singer! 🤣 😂

I don't know about trying to keep the peace. He walked in to the room with a tape recorder running, and said to Nicko "what would happen if a lighting rig was about to fall down on your head?" which started Steve and Nicko off again!

What's funny is the Bruce is his middle name. His first name is Paul also.
I was obsessed with that song, years later we had some task in school to translate a song lyric, of course I chose the Mariner. And I did the Number of the Beast too just for fun. And so on.
I don't know how this ended up in my suggested videos feed, but I'm so happy it did.
I can't imagine my teenage years without Iron Maiden. Their music always gave me comfort and inspiration. One of the best metal bands ever. ❤❤
Steve: Finds guitarist
Guitarist: yeah I’d love to be in your band *plays insane riffs and licks*
Also guitarist: *Disappears into existence*
Always one of my favourite bands. First saw them on the killers tour as a spotty 13 year old. They invited us backstage at Bradford St George's Hall where we met the whole band. For a 13 year old it was an absolute dream come true. The best part, they were all just amazing, down to earth blokes. Signed my record sleeves, Still got them to this day. Took time and showed a real interest in us.
Their investment? Well, at 51, I still watch them live and still have a great affinity with this amazing band. 🤘🤘
That's an amazing story. I'm so glad they are good guys. That would have been a dream come true for me. I've seen them many times but never met them.
Saw him fell of the stage in Gothenburg 2015.. and also saw him complete the gig with a broken leg.. he is unique..
I bet a lot of those early former band members are kicking themselves now. Since the 80's. Little did they know how much talent and how serious Steve Harris really was about making music. GREAT music.
Probably, but they didn't have enough technical and musical skills to bring Iron Maiden successful band it is now, and they know it.
@You Tuber quite right, band members have to jell. Ive been in plenty of bands were musically it was great but we just did not get a long. its all temporary any ways. without the member changes they could not have found their sound.
@Don Tommasino
Talent and drive are not enough.
@@mark98115 That's interesting, could you tell us the band's name? It would be cool to hear
You Tuber Pete best made a career out of being the rejected beatle... he still performs last I checked, and has quite a loyal following! Lol
Iron Maiden recently became my favorite band, their humility is a huge factor.
They kicked out clive burr because his dad died in the middle of a tour and he wanted to mourn.
@@wingsken They gave him 3 months though
Bruce Dickinson was the front man iron maiden deserved, his persona, voice and just general frontmanship is what helped Maiden soar to the heights they did.
The 80-81 lineup would've got them up their too they were already known cus of them
@@bbadam19 imo the 80-81 line up wouldn’t have got them as far. It was clear it worked but Dickinson helped bring them to a new level.
@@Elnont It would've still worked that lineup was unique. Their is a reason they were already known in the US Europe Japan
he sure did, if you like opera that is
@@bbadam19 That's true, but at the same time the band was weary, after all they were playing 85% of their songs for 3 straight years.
I'm going to see Maiden for the first time in September. I live in Wisconsin and I'm driving out to Anaheim, CA to see them! Super hyped!
Watching this made me incredibly emotional. Iron Maiden has changed my life forever, thank you all for that!!! Next time I go to a show I owe you one!
been a maiden fan for a very long time!!! because of not having the funds to see them ,timing ,and things it took me over 30 years to finally see them in concert for the 1st time in phiily for the legacy of the beast tour it was epic and the best part is i got to experience it after all these years with my son!!!!!! truely a moment in my life ill never forget!!!!!!!\m/ \m/
Thats very cool dude I was lucky enough to see them at Donnington 92 with my old man .... I was only 4 up the Irons
Same here. Took 30 years to finally get to see them and the last show was with our kids and their friends. It was awesome to see those kids enjoy Maiden as much as we old headbangers do.
Since 79 though I didn't "know" it was Maiden until a couple of years later.
Up The Irons !!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I'm 47 now,so an ageing rocker you could say lol.
Maiden, scorpions and Ozzy got me into rock and metal.
All legends!.
44 years later and I finally found an Iron Maiden Channel....
Metal on!!!!!
The first album I ever bought was Killers. I adored the first two albums and I still listen to them religiously. Bruce is amazing too, I had a chance to hear them live, but Paul Di'Anno will forever be my absolute favorite.
Completely agree 👍
My mask at 21:00 - I made a plaster cast (from a student on the Art Foundation course at East Ham College Of Technology) then made copies of it using a vacuum forming machine and sometimes I let the plastic get too hot and it blistered and I stuck them on a good one for support. I called it the plague mask and gave it to Dave Beasley for the show. I should have kept the cast and the other masks. Who knew Maiden would get so big?
That true? Good on you if so.
So awesome Iron Maiden did the Oz band Skyhooks song Women In Uniform
Mädchen in Uniform!
I know. I always thought that was a weird obscure choice...
Terrible cover of a terrible song, I ain't some panty waist male feminist who thinks it's sexist, I just think it's a stupid song, now I do find sexy chicks in uniform attractive, but lyrically it just don't fly.
Yeah ,a misstep ,shame about that .Really made a mistake trying to play it live on TOTP. Still, thrived didn't they

Proud to have seen them in 1980 (Killers tour) with Paul D on vocals at the Taunton Odeon. That venue is now a faded bingo hall, but Maiden were tremendous.
Make no mistakes, that's STEVE'S band! What a talent!
Absolutely...strangely similar to Roger Waters.

Sooo many stories and good times had with Maiden in background. Best concert ever in Florida! Been a fan for over 30 years.
The first 2 albums with Dianno will always be my favorite albums ever..Running Free!!!
Skate Or Die I don’t see why Steve hated those albums. Di’anno has a better vocal range than Bruce
@@thedevil1262 WTF dude. Not even *close!* 😆
Bob Schneider actually he does. He’s way better at low vocals and he had really good highs too. Don’t get me wrong, they’re both great at what they’ve done for Maiden but Paul had a greater range.
Bruce is great , no doubt. I just prefer the edgier Di’anno 🤘🏻
The Devil he says it was because of the albums “poor production” which i call bullshit on
Despite only being 3 at the time, I was in the 77' lineup. The rattles. The band decided they wanted to go in a different direction and move on without me.
Even though I never existed at the time, I was in the 1978 line up as a backup singer
Despite me not even being born yet, I was in the lineup for 77' as well! Nice to see ya again @jwilli1209
Vinny Reed oh so you were that guy, I remember you, how have you been?
Word has it, it turned out to be a real shit show😂🙄💩
hahahaha
I saw.them in san Antonio
Just makes me want to listen to those early albums all over again.
I saw the beast, piece of mind and world slavery tours. Best concerts ever
simply the best metal band in history. Thank you IRON MAIDEN!
Nah, Metallica is on the top.

+ Aidan French - yes, it was bloody marvellous thanks.
Yes it was awesome and I miss those days. Goings to gigs, having a few pints at some metal bar. Buying a new album listening to it all night. Time to build that time machine.
It was great. You'd see acdc whitesnake budgie maiden gillan on a regular basis. Saw acdc in 78....unbelievable absolutely stunned..blown away.
Yup Yup!
I vividly remember that '83 Dortmund gig... Absolutely mind-blowing to have all these iconic bands in one place!!

I played guitar, not bass, but I can easily see why you do play bass. Steve is an excellent bassist and the heart of the band that already has a lot of heart.
