Regarding the belching being a result of someone deliberately/unconsciously sucking in and temporarily swallowing air to initiate the burp.... I can tell you, i have suffered from bloating, and i would deliberately burp, like you would as a kid, to release the build up that was happening. So you're right; belching is a deliberate act. Habitual. But you're missing the point; were doing it to release a genuine buildup of gas in our upper gut/stomach.

From my experience what he said is spot on, its never just one thing that you can blame for your issues, its always more than one thing that contributes to the problem.
If you are a woman with daily progressive abdominal bloating and watching this please go get an MRI. For years I thought I had gut issues but in fact I had several huge (and thankfully benign) tumors obstructing my upper and lower GI. This resulted in major surgery and a long long painful recovery and the loss of organs. Please just go get an MRI and catch it early. Eating well is important but this discussion doesn’t talk about actual physical obstruction which is something women suffer from at a higher rate than you realize. Get an MRI.
“Go get an MRI” like you can just walk in and order one yourself. Doctors these days gaslight you when you tell them your symptoms and only like prescribe medications. I can’t see any doctor ordering an MRI for this.

My friend did too until she actually went through a therapist's season where they dug deep and found that she was sadly abused as a child and had never dealt with the deep pain.😢 This ordeal effected her since that tragedy. Today she's healing, definitely not in the same condition. 😊

My gastroenterologist told me don’t eat nut, alcohol, citrus skins of fruit or legumes and any seedy type fruit such as blueberries etc. But he didn’t tell tell me what I could eat and how was the best way to prepare. I asked him a few times but he just said anything. I really struggled this past year. I was so relieved to listen to your podcast. I love it. So informative and so very helpful . I love this guy! I joined Zoe cause of him! I’ve noticed artificial sweeteners cause me to crave sugar! Like just a Diet Coke can seem to lead me down that rabbit hole to an evening of chocolate cookies and pastry. So now I’ve stopped bringing those things into my home. It starts at the grocery store- day 5 of no sugar and I already feel better!!!
WHen I tell people that DIet Coke will make you fatter, they look at me like I have horns growing out of my head. Just drink water instead or carbonated mineral water if you want that fizz. And if you still want a Coke occasionally, just drink a regular Coke (preferably one imported from Mexico where they use real sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup). I weaned myself of of Coke by drinking Topo Chico, a carbonate mineral water from Mexico, and now Cokes just taste NASTY to me.
Intermittent fasting a heavy meat diet, no seed oils or carbs, took IBS away very quickly. It didnt come back and my weight dropped as well. I'm 55 years old. I wish I had found this way of eating long ago.
Those anti psychotic medications can constipate you or make it worse if you do have constipation. I know I took the medication I was on those drugs so I am aware of that. Then they enlarge your bustline & your wasteland. They will make you bloat. That is what the start was of me becoming more healthy. If you can stay off them I would do it. Don't make the mistake I did with going on those the drugs.
Thats always the first push, is antidepressants...total BS. The next dr that trys that with me will get shut down quick. So many women do and it's due to hormones um's and the kind of food that is being eaten.. People who don't eat animal food go through far better menopause. Because animals cas hormone changes so much. I have my own issues but when I was younger I didn't. Not until after a bad procedure and things changed. Eating a diet high in Beans and lentils nuts seeds vegetables fruits and spaces. Really nurture yourself with good big meals that fit this season. Grow a garden if you can. Maybe you can only grow things and pots do it it's wor is it. Just eat Well and well planned. Cut out the animal foods because of the hormones. The difference is amazing. I was damaged by a doctor in my gut and have never had it doubt with because i'm fearful. What she did to me was so Traumatic I haven't been able to deal with it. I've healed so many other people by helping them learn how to eat the correct foods. I need a clone of me to take care of myself for a while. And when you have a doctor that does something wrong, take care of it right away. I regret it so much for not turning this doctor in for doing what she did to me. The fact that it was intentional it's just appalling.😢 Remember menopause is normal and it shouldn't be like an illness. Take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself. Get outside as much as you can. And if you're not close to the equator make sure you take your vegan d three supplement And vegan omega three supplement. And even people who eat animal products get between 12 deficient. A, what are you to take AB12? They usually have a vegan pill with the three things that I just mentioned. It's so worth it.
It’s taken me 20 years to work out what’s happening with my hives and gut issues and you have explained everything in a 12min video. 👏 thank you!! I never had these problems growing up. It wasn’t until my son was diagnosed with autism when all these problems started. It’s amazing what the state of your gut health can do to you physically. I’m now upping my magnesium intake.
I hate to break to you been there done that. Magnesium will do nothing and be very careful dosing your child. Didn’t make a difference at all. All it does is get you tired through out the day and your stomach hurts. Even if you get passed that no difference in day to day. These doctors giving advice never been through what we’ve been through so they stick to conventional way of thinking. Bless you.

FODMAP turned my life 8 years ago. Got in contact with a dietitian to help me sort out what food to avoid with IBS (can't figure it out on your own). It's like day and night. No more bloating, constipation or diarrhea, and no more cramps. ❤
@@Seanonyoutube i started reintroducing slowly when my gut started healing. Most of the food on the red list Ive left out completely, like onion and lactose, my stomach just can't handle that, not even as completely healed. Alot of the food on the yellow list I can eat today, but only small amounts. It gives more variety. Also need to stay away from sugar, because it messes the stomach up pretty fast. It takes some time to figure it out, but it gets easier with time.
I’m just going to go for it. I was on a cocktail of prescribed psychotropic medications from age 8 to 18. Now approaching 40 a feel as though I have been constipated my whole adult life.

Thomas, one important thing was missed in this video. These videos interviewing professionals has been really great lately. Low thiamine levels contribute significantly to constipation. I've had multiple clients who found this to be the missing link. Thiamine, also known as Vitamin B1, directly affect the way the muscles contract along the intestinal tract. B1 blood serum levels drops significantly from high carb meals and sugar. Especially from processed carbs.
I really get confused with B1 and Thaimine some people say they are not the same because some doctors here on YT says use B1, then they come back and say benfortiamine or Thaimine or Nutritional Yeast! I think they should just tell you a brand and dosage that you can use
This information is excellent!!! A good read is Metabolical by Dr. Lustig who provides similar info..Dr. Lustig is a retired pediatric endocrinologist. His book makes two points: Protect the liver, Feed the gut. The gut microbiome is of utmost importance when it comes to health in general. I am a believer b/c I've been able to heal my gut and the suffering due to bloat, gas, and abdominal pain is gone.
Really good quality information. One question I would like to ask is some older people have reduced motility due to neural degeneration. they can also have tears in their small bowel which leads to bleeding and congealed blood adhered to the bowel wall, which creates obstruction. Increasing fiber can back up behind this obstruction. This is why I think it is critical to do capsule endoscopy to ascertain obstruction, especially in older patients.
Magnesium Oxide, Magnesium Sulfate, Magnesium Citrate Start with 500 mg before bedtime. Can go to higher (750,100 mg) dosage depending how your body reacts.
Interesting the Recommended Daily Allowance for Magnesium for men is 420 and for Women 320. FYI I recently heard magnesium plays a vital role in the absorption of Vitamin D. 🙂
I was diagnosed with IBS in the 80's and later diverticulosis...My IBS was constipation dominant..turns out I was lactose intolerant and I had vestibular migraine causing abdominal pain due to abdominal migraine, not diverticulitis, along with a bad gut microbiome. Meds for VM allowed me to eat fiber and heal my gut by increasing the good bacteria. Foods I had to avoid I can now eat and have no gas or bloating. I am 'healed" at age 73 after decades of suffering.
@@bronwynst4280 It was diagnosed after I developed symptoms in 2020 that were diagnosed as vestibular migraine in 2022..looking backward as far as childhood and going forward to 2020 it is apparent I had vestibular migraine all those years. A video on youtube by Dr. Michale Teixido explains the progression of vestibular migraine which always has a period, on average, of 9 years, of migraine, generally followed by an IBS diagnosis, followed by BBPV, with childhood nausea, sick headaches and car sickness. I also had 'belly aches' which my mother attributed to constipation...it was likely abdominal migraine. Very few doctors were aware back in the day and few are aware even now unless they deal specifically with VM. Often abdominal migraine is diagnosed when everything else is ruled out..in my case b/c I had diverticular pockets in my colon, 3 to be exact, my pain was assumed to be due to diverticulitis. The problem is most people have, by their 40's, pockets in their colon and have no symptoms. One more thing, in my case the migraine drug Ajovy 'fixed' my abdominal pain and bloating. Were it due to diverticulosis or diverticulitis the Ajovy would not have done that. Treating with Ajovy to see if there is a beneficial response would be a good way to rule out other causes. If you think you might have abdominal migraine it might be worth asking your doctor about giving it a trial to see if you have abdominal migraine..if you do, the Ajovy would likely have a positive effect.
I suffered for years also with your symptoms, manly constipation and gas, trued everything apart from avoiding dairy, booked in for a colonic irrigation on Saturday that's how bad it is, gonna go dairy free as of then.

Oh, I found my doctor. May I tell my story? I'm now 76 yrs old, and almost 5' in height. Before I went on low carb early January of last year, I had been suffering from IBS for over 30 years. No doctor ever gave a name for my leaky gut, but I labelled it as IBS since my experience fits the description given by others on you tube. The episode I usually go through when IBS strikes is like this: you start feeling some pain below the abdomen, and so you go to the toilet. It will take some time before the first poop comes out. While waiting, the pain starts to build up, your stomach is bloated, you might vomit (which can be very relieving), and then you might have to change clothes because they are drenched with sweat. It might take several hours before hard poops are fully evacuated. And then the time you start feeling real relief is when the soft waste come out and then followed by a series of ejections of watery waste. In the early years, this episode would last probably 3-5 hours. It increased over the years to about 7 hours or more. The last time (March 2021), it lasted for almost 12 hrs. I passed out once because of this (1997), went to hospital on 3 different occasions; the first two were triggered by orange and pineapple, and the last one ( 2021) was due to a milk formulated for seniors, which I bought simply to please a promoter. I underwent a colonoscopy, but it was unsuccessful bcoz the device couldn't go through (but I still paid the entire amount for this). I felt so frustrated, so I tried to find out what can be done without doctor's help. Fast forward, I went on low carb in 2022, followed strictly the diet, and after 2 weeks, l experienced peace in my gut During the entire year, I didn't have any IBS episode. I was elated. Of course, I became very thin (frm 54 kgs - 39kgs). I didn't mind, so long as I had peace in my gut. After over a year, I thought I could introduce some change so I could gain some weight. Starting March of this year, started taking in a little more carbs: 3 slices of sweet potatoes or half cup of rolled oats. Very occasionally, when relatives visit, I would have rice or even a small pc of cake. The problem is that I have been experiencing some discomfort - bloating, gas and some pain - everytime my abdomen wants to be evacuated. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. My question - could this be because of the carbs I reintroduced into my diet? Today, I took my first meal without the extra carbs, and plan to do the same in the weeks to come. If I improve, then I will have to do strict low carb (at least most of the time) the rest of my life - if that's how I will have to continue having peace in my gut. I shall share the result later. Hopefully, this can add, albeit in a very small way, to the documentation on low carb lifestyle. Thanks for reading.
After 20 plus years talking to so many GI doctors or general practitioners I only feel at peace in my gut on Keto. They gave me the whole FODMAPS BS and it never worked. The only problem is my own laziness and I love to eat carbs!! When I was on Keto I could eat any cruciferous vegetables!! Zero gas. Once I start eating an everyday American diet I bloat and IBS full swing. I wish I could just eat what I want. 😢 I am going back to Keto and working on my cooking skills and variety. I hope you find your way too.

This was a really good interview. At first I was a little apprehensive, especially when he talked about paying all that money for a lab. Well it was one of those labs in 2001 that led to me being healed of IBS and so many other things. I learned of the lab and asked for names of doctors in my area who used there services. Through them I found a functional medicine MD. But as he continued to speak and accepted your suggestion of quercetin, I started to relax a little. Then he mentioned the holistic approach where three doctors are seeing somebody with something that is truly connected. So yes he is a rare breed of gastroenterologist. I assure you the one I see is not into all this. What I especially enjoyed was the topic of histamines. It sounds like a reason to grow your own garden, buy directly from the local farmer, or buy frozen. Quercetin with bromelain was a lifesaver for me. I was living on Benadryl until my functional medicine md put me on this combination and eventually I was able to get off the Benadryl and then off this combination. But now I take bromelain religiously because of what it does with fibrin.
@@almaburns6562 I avoid fruit juices. I choose the whole fruit, but when I do eat fruit it's most often berries. Occasionally I'll buy fresh pineapple and it's interesting that we're having this discussion, because about 3 weeks ago I bought a pineapple slicer, but I've yet to pick up a pineapple.
@@dianasolfest7237 he explained that in the video. It has to do with being fresher. Frozen vegetables are done so right away whereas fresh produce has to travel long distances, unless you're buying it locally or growing it yourself.
Not mistaken this is the gastroenterologist that developed a product called Antrantil for methane SIBO sufferers who usually suffer with constipation. It has helped me tremendously.
A Vegan diet for over 12 years actually created IBS and a leaky gut for me! I was eating tons of fiber, and getting more constipated, bloated and sick by the year. When I finally woke up and stopped the Vegan plant based nonsense, ALL MY BLOATING and IBS WENT AWAY! In the first 3 days! Now I'm on a ketovore type of diet and feeling amazing! Eating plant based isn't, at least for me the healthier way to go. It can actually create serious illness. Thank you for an informative discussion!
Me also. Very long story short, took 6 months of carnivore for my gut to calm down. Most of my autoimmune symptoms are gone. I was diagnosed with SIFO from aspergillus a few years ago. I was a mess.

Not sure this will be read here but I merely increased mi Magnesium from 500mg to 1000mg and things have changed drastically. I am.also adding probiotics to my daily intake. Folks, this doc is the real deal as he has helped me and I didn't have to go to his office and subject myself to a million tests and get a.fistfull of medications. One of the best gut problem video's I have seen yet and I watch them all, so many things are dead on that he is saying, as I have improved my gut after years of trial and error, but I'm not quit there yet. A Low Fodmap diet really helped me, I have the app on my phone. Learned a lot from this video, thank you so much. I think as most people get older your gut health gets more touchy and is probably the number one way to heal your body.
This is great information. What he says is absolutely spot on. It took me decades to realize I was constipated b/c I had a daily bowel movement so how could I be constipated, right?. In my 30's my stool became pencil thin. Colon cancer etc was ruled out and I was diagnosed with IBS..mine was constipation dominant...I used laxatives often. I then added magnesium citrate daily and it helped a lot... decades later I found out I had abdominal migraine which absolutely does affect motility. Ajovy, which is a monoclonal antibody developed for migraine, and for which I was prescribed for my vestibular migraine was a game changer for me. For the first time in 40 years I had normal bowel movements with no straining..I was able to change/improve my gut microbiome b/c I was able to change my diet and eat high fiber foods without gas, bloating or pain. Life is so much better now and I feel better in my 70's than I did in my 30's.
@@ireneturner2944 I eat both soluble and insoluble fiber from real food, not fiber supplements, and plenty of it daily, and spread it out so I have some at every meal.....when it comes to bread, I limit white bread, whole wheat bread, etc...these are made from flour..you want a true whole grain bread, like Ezekial bread. I eat Simply Nature sprouted 7 grain bread made from whole wheat berries. and other whole grains..you can see the smashed fiber in these breads....at first they didn't taste as good to me, but it didn't take long for me to prefer them...I will eat white bread occasionally but not routinely...The bulk of my daily diet is real food that has minimal processing .. ..fruit like apples,berries,watermelon, pears, canteloupe etc and veggies like potatoes,carrots, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, brussle sprouts, etc...nuts, seeds...when you eat high fiber foods it's important to drink plenty of liquids/water, skip the comercial fruit juices, you can use them to flavor your water...eat an orange instead of drinking orange juice...The main thing is you want both kinds of fiber and plenty of it...this is an example of what I eat in a day: breakfast for me is often sprouted grain bread toasted, spread with sun butter, sprinkled with sunflower kernels and and fresh apple slices......lunch is a sandwich made with 7 grain bread, protein, tomatoes, cucumber slices, mayo and on the side some raw carrots...and a few potato chips ...yes, they are crap carbs too, but it's not about being 'good' or perfect, it's about eating foods you enjoy that are mostly good for you.....supper is protein, fat and carbs from veggies vs pasta etc..pasta isn't the main thing in a meal for me...I'll eat spaghetti, heavy on the meat/protein, sauce and light on the pasta, with a nice green salad loaded with real veggies and dressed with a salad dressing that I enjoy/like......I limit what I call crap carbs...cookies, cake, ice cream, chocolate although I do eat them once a day but if I want something else sweet that day, I eat a fruit based sweet like sliced fresh strawberries, with pecans, sour cream tossed in whipped topping and a sprinkle of mini semi sweet chocolate chips(heavy on the berries)..There's a book titled Metabolical written by a pediatric endocrinologist--his name escapes me at the moment...the take-away from his book is to 'protect the liver, feed the gut" ...you do that by eating real food that is high in both kinds of fiber..it doesn't mean you never eat other things you love..like ice cream...I love it..but I limit it and when I do eat it I add nuts to it ... and I eat real ice cream b/c fat slows down digestion and has a positive effect on blood sugar and insulin. If you eat plenty of both kinds of fiber you will find it is filling and it will fix your gut..most of us have too many of the bad bacteria in our gut..eat the good 'guys' and they will take care of the bad guys and you will find it makes a huge difference in your gut health...the gut microbiome is, I believe as do many others, the key to good health along with a healthy liver..
@@noonecares3821 It's pain in the abdomen caused by the same action that causes migraine, ..it is more common in children, but adults have it too..often it is diagnosed as IBS and it can be misdiagnosed as diverticulosis b/c docs look for the cause of the pain and on testing discover their patient has diverticula,which are pockets in the colon, and they conclude that is the cause of the pain...but that diagnosis is based on assumption...it's diagnosis by elimation. They rarely if ever consider abdominal migraine and they conclude it is rare in adults..I had migraine for 9 years in my thirties...it went away...but it didn't go away...my symptoms changed...and 4 decades later the progression of my vestibular migraine became apparent..it started in childhood with abdominal pain which was diagnosed as constipation...I was given a lot of Ex-lax as a kid. It usually takes decades for the dots to be connected...Dr. Teixido on youtube is a neruo-otologist who specializes in migraine and is an expert in vestibular migraine..there are many kinds of migraine, and they share similar symptoms but each kind of migraine has a signifying symptom that points to the particular kind of migraine a person has. Of note, Menieres, Mal DeDebarqment and Verstibular migraine share many of the same symptoms and it can be difficult getting the right diagnosis b/c there are no definitive tests for any of them.

Same effect here. My ENT who tested me for all types of allergies advised me to avoid fermented food, among others including all fungi and food with a high-propensity to carrying mould such as cheese, leftovers, bread, peanut butter, etc.
@@littlevoice_11CV won't fix it (not in my case). I've taken acv for over a decade, only this very week I've struggled massively with bloating (caused likely by strawberries - of all things).
@MrGB1999 it depends in the cause too. ACV is great for stomach acide regulation. But if the issue is lack of digestive enzymes, issues with gastric emptying, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, gut inflammation, IBS, microbiome imbalance, stress, poor nutrition quality, over or under hydration, timing of food etc.
I find it interesting that my grandmother who was a district nursing assistant back in the 1940 somethings, always said that what comes out of your body is a good indicator of what your health is like. What goes around comes around, simple observation is often the best detection method.
I used to have an F grade gut biome in Highschool with occasional ulcers and constant indigestion even though I ate clean. Fast forward 20 years later and I have what I call a Superman stomach!!! I've been keto and regular fasting for 5 years now and while I often attribute my strength, flexibility, physic, low body fat, etc on my diet and exercise i believe a lot of it is due to me fixing my gut. I can do spicy foods and abuse myself with too much coffee etc and have a great immune system etc. a few big tricks that helped me ...I break my fast with bone broth and collagen daily and do kefir and small amounts of fruit daily. Every day I do this and eat minimal to no carbs daily. Feed the good bacteria and starve the bad. It really is that simple. @@candybeckingham yeah no problem....I often stop eating between 6pm-8pm and fast until between noon or as late as 3 or even 4pm. Give or take a couple hours. 16/17 hours is the common regular daily routine and often once or twice a week I do 18-22 hrs. I often only eat 2 massive meals a day and avoid snacking like the plague as it's bad for all sorts of systems but that's a whole other conversation. Eat like a king anytime you put a single calorie in your body for optimal health. Big tip I learned later on is ***After doing daily fasting for several months you'll want to switch to alternate day fasting to keep your metabolism at the same pace so natural homeostasis doesn't kick in and down regulate your metabolism. ETRF is another good fasting method that might be even better and I do on some of the days I am more active early on. That is early time restricted feeding where you break your fast early on in the morning and you just quit eating much earlier like say you break your fast at seven or 8 AM but then you're gonna wanna be done eating your last meal by 4pm. ETRF has added benefits of the body's natural rhythms but is tough for me most days because I like to eat dinner with my wife and she isn't off work until 5pm. Fasting and keto has fixed my severe hypoglycemia which is another thing Doctors say is absolutely incurable! I can get through serious workouts deep into a fasted state like up to 22 hours which has added HGH and testosterone boosting properties and helps you directly tap into fat supplies for super efficient weight loss. I used to turn red after I ate and sometimes got welts, etc., not to mention other systemic issues (histamine and leaky gut). I quit drinking high fructose corn syrup (Gatorade, etc.).took a probiotic, and cleaned up my diet a bit and ten years of bad symptoms were gone in thirty days. It's been fine ever since and that was 13 years ago. I was clueless and suffered for all that time for no reason. I have struggled with histamine intolerance and IBS symptoms for over 15 years. So much so I had to try and solve the riddle by myself using a holistic approach and have since qualified as a dietitian. I agree it would be so beneficial to be able to treat patients with a holistic approach and discuss things in a holistic whole picture kind of way.
That's really interesting about the histamine relation to food. I've had horrible allergies my whole life and also severe stomach issues - at times so severe I'd have to go to hospital due to severity of pain, yet doctors could never diagnose. Figuring out my trigger foods over the years has helped. I've been able to successfully treat my allergy issues w/ anti-histamines and sleeping with a humidifier (this was really the game-changer). But what's also interesting is that whenever I drink alcohol I always wake up with a horrible runny nose the next morning. I never realized this could be a histamine issue until he brought it up.

Thats gluten, and if you drink distilled clear 100 💯 agave tequila or vodka triple distilled, but remember that anything what we probably Ryan oats so got to cut out the bread everything and if it's really bad silly act disease you have to really really cut through the parameters and study the ingredients and all that crap that we don't have any patients or the time to do it but, I wish I had known this because my allergies causes inflammation and so long time damage now it's too late to reverse but not too late not to suffer. I've been munching around 3 or 4 teaspoons of chia seeds a day and taking magnesium glycinate and have had great motility since I started doing this back in Dec., '23.
Magnesium over 800 mg gives me the $#!+$. Chia needs to be soaked. Eat it like pudding with plenty of extra water. Most people are actually dehydrated because they don't drink enough water

A gynecologist explained to me that in women, IBS can be "constipation diarrhea". They develop poor ligamental support in the pelvic floor due to stressors like childbirth, heavy lifting or exercise. This allows "kinking" in the gut. This causes partial blockages. Then only liquid stool can pass it after building up pressure to push past the blockage.

For me, its dairy, dairy and more dairy! I'm mostly carnivore which I love and I thought dairy would be good. Felt backed up and very puffy stomach for awhile, which isn't normal for me. Finally decided to eliminate all dairy products and my stomach went back to flat and I'm digesting normal again. Dairy is way too inflammatory for me.
my whole life I couldnt do milk I felt horrible. Now I drink it everyday. Raw milk has been a game changer. But if I cant get raw, grass fed organic doesn't get me sick. It might be what the cows eat in their processed grains is what makes the difference for my body
Pasteurization is literally heating the milk there's no "adulteration" the only adulteration is the cow itself, stress hormones, estrogens, cortisol, rbst etc. Raw changes none of that

If your new to IF its good to work up to a longer fast. 12 hr is ok, then 14, couple days a week go to 16-18hr fasts to increase cellular regrowth called autophagy. First meal should be high protein☺️☺️
As you said, there are many reasons for bloating! One reason that I recently learned about is Ovarian Cancer. My friend had no idea why she felt so bloated and she tried everything - doctors, a nutritionist, changed to an even healthier diet, exercised daily and taught Pilates etc. Two months later she found out too that she had stage 4 ovarian cancer.

@@dividivi2369had those symptoms and had a pelvic ultrasound and my ovaries were fine but I had a tiny fibroid . I was tested for H Pylori and yes I had it . Hormonal imbalance during perimenopause changed my gut bacteria . I had really bad acid reflux and had an endoscopy. Everything was fine no cancer . I am a lot better now but still a bit lactose intolerance . If you have any symptoms of digestive problems, just ask the doctor to check for ovarian cancer and stomach cancer . When you visit a doctor they just put you on Nexium and in the long run you will end up with B12 deficiency and osteoporosis.
I have to say, Dr B's second book was even better than the first. Yes, there are recipes. But there's a lot science and even _actionable information_ on food sensitivities that I've not seen anywhere else.
This is so good. I have SIBO and IBS-D, sometimes histamine intolerance, and lots of crazy side effects! He did hit on all topics of many docs I have seen, and topics of what I personally have found with trial and error. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS! I am finding that alone is the killer and dairy for me. So hard to find things without, in the fitness world. Where can I find this doc? I would love to schedule an appointment, I’ve been left stranded and messed up from other natural paths who have killed off a lot of my good bacteria and left me struggling alone 😢
In most European countries artificial sugars are not allowed. We tend only to think of diet type sweeteners but soda has high fructose corn syrup while European soda has just sugar in it. Fructose corn syrup is in a lot of American made food. GMO foods are also not permitted in some European countries either. I haven't eaten corn in 25 years and I can no longer get regular watermelon anymore just gmo seedless and it's very annoying. I like some cereal now and then but I only purchase Kamut flakes because it is a designated heirloom wheat not permitted to be gmo'd. It is very nutritious like other wheats and grains used to be.
Women who have taken blended hormone replacement therapy containing premarin (progesterone) may have gas & bloating from ovarian carcinomas. I lost a dear friend to OC who had been told my multiple doctors that she had IBS. She had no idea that bloating can be a symptom of ovarian cancer. One more needless death of a beautiful soul from our realm.
I lost a friend to OC from taking Premarin also. So sad her Dr never mentioned it. I had left nursing & when we had lunch one day & she told me she bloated each time she ate I urged her to see a GYN. She was already Stage4 & passed away just 2 years later.

I found a research paper years ago that said blood types play a huge part . Blood type A have digestive challenges compared to O. Type O should not be a vegetarian but meat eaters. Blood type A should be a vegetarian.

I pretty much always had the bloating issue and within 2 weeks of doing keto it stopped completely. I'd wager it was the carbs/starches or wheat that was doing it.

Great Video !! I suffer with IBS (at least that's what my GIs label it), for decades. I'm 71 YO, and have always been a "nervous" guy. Anxiety attacks plagued me for a long time - from early childhood, from nail biting and so on. Despite the excellent info, I think one thing was not Addressed as a potential contributor to these Conditions. Spinal Issues - mostly Stenosis or certain disc herniations. And Cervical Spine issues labeled Cervical Instabilities [CI] which can and does affect the Vagus Nerve are a big potential contributor to Stamach / Belching /IBS problems. CI can wreak Havoc with many body functions as it can affect the Vagus Nerve. I suffer with CI whih gives me Tinnitus, Vertigo, Occiptal Headaches, Chronic Siusitis, IBS, and even Bladder (and Bowel) incontinence. regarding the Swallowing of air, I'm sure Im very guilty of it. But i think (not a doctor, but a conductor of lots of personal research into health topics) the Diaphragm is spasmetic from the CI and Thoracic disc maladies. I also have 25 degree Dextroscoliosis created by a Leg length Discrepancy of a 1" shorter right leg since age 16 (fractured right femur in 1966). The LLD was lft Unaddressed until it was too late. it twisted my spine, and it curved with Scoliosis from the imbalance in my spine. Moreover, I have 2 Lumbar Discs , L2 & L3 that Bulge into the front toward the stomach and to the rear into the spinal canal. One Neurologist i visited said: "That May affect your Stomach". I think it does.
I have same as you, anxiety since child, nail biting, disk budges in back and 2 in neck, straightening of the cervical spine, one lower back disk bulge gave way a few days ago and I'm down with that, curved spine that no one has given me any reason for it. Thank you for stressing the importance of the holistic approach. I've had gut issues for over 30 years and was diagnosed with IBS ages ago. I have also struggled with many other issues and have dealt with so many specialists for each of them. I was led to believe by general practitioners that my gut problems were caused by the other problems (and stress), but now it makes so much more sense to recognize hat the unaddressed gut issues are probably causing the other problems.
A2 milk has a different protein from older breeds of cows,NOT bred for high milk production, I dont want to give up milk as I am already a bad celiac and nightshade intolerant.However ready to try whatever.

Infectious diseases were reduced too. Then fast forward to dairy discussion ... apart from FODMAP issue (and casomorphins...) - what about the substantial calcium levels. Any bearing on magnesium? And taking after magnesium widespread deficiency, what about soltriol (vitamin D) widespread deficiency? And what about circadian entrainment discussion? Regarding the belching being a result of someone deliberately/unconsciously sucking in and temporarily swallowing air to initiate the burp....
I can tell you, i have suffered from bloating, and i would deliberately burp, like you would as a kid, to release the build up that was happening.
So you're right; belching is a deliberate act. Habitual.
But you're missing the point; were doing it to release a genuine buildup of gas in our upper gut/stomach.

If you are a woman with daily progressive abdominal bloating and watching this please go get an MRI. For years I thought I had gut issues but in fact I had several huge (and thankfully benign) tumors obstructing my upper and lower GI. This resulted in major surgery and a long long painful recovery and the loss of organs. Please just go get an MRI and catch it early. Eating well is important but this discussion doesn’t talk about actual physical obstruction which is something women suffer from at a higher rate than you realize. Get an MRI.

I love this guy! I joined Zoe cause of him! I’ve noticed artificial sweeteners cause me to crave sugar! Like just a Diet Coke can seem to lead me down that rabbit hole to an evening of chocolate cookies and pastry. So now I’ve stopped bringing those things into my home. It starts at the grocery store- day 5 of no sugar and I already feel better!!!

I weaned myself of of Coke by drinking Topo Chico, a carbonate mineral water from Mexico, and now Cokes just taste NASTY to me.

I went to a gastro for IBS and he offered my anti-psychotic medication. I suggested that he take that prescription.
Those anti psychotic medications can constipate you or make it worse if you do have constipation. I know I took the medication I was on those drugs so I am aware of that. Then they enlarge your bustline & your wasteland. They will make you bloat. That is what the start was of me becoming more healthy. If you can stay off them I would do it. Don't make the mistake I did with going on those the drugs.

So many women do and it's due to hormones um's and the kind of food that is being eaten.. People who don't eat animal food go through far better menopause. Because animals cas hormone changes so much. I have my own issues but when I was younger I didn't. Not until after a bad procedure and things changed. Eating a diet high in Beans and lentils nuts seeds vegetables fruits and spaces. Really nurture yourself with good big meals that fit this season. Grow a garden if you can. Maybe you can only grow things and pots do it it's wor is it. Just eat Well and well planned. Cut out the animal foods because of the hormones. The difference is amazing. I was damaged by a doctor in my gut and have never had it doubt with because i'm fearful. What she did to me was so Traumatic I haven't been able to deal with it. I've healed so many other people by helping them learn how to eat the correct foods. I need a clone of me to take care of myself for a while. And when you have a doctor that does something wrong, take care of it right away. I regret it so much for not turning this doctor in for doing what she did to me. The fact that it was intentional it's just appalling.😢 Remember menopause is normal and it shouldn't be like an illness. Take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself. I hate to break to you been there done that. Magnesium will do nothing and be very careful dosing your child. Didn’t make a difference at all. All it does is get you tired through out the day and your stomach hurts. Even if you get passed that no difference in day to day. Most of the food on the red list Ive left out completely, like onion and lactose, my stomach just can't handle that, not even as completely healed. Alot of the food on the yellow list I can eat today, but only small amounts. It gives more variety. Also need to stay away from sugar, because it messes the stomach up pretty fast. It takes some time to figure it out, but it gets easier with time.

Thomas, one important thing was missed in this video. These videos interviewing professionals has been really great lately. Low thiamine levels contribute significantly to constipation. I've had multiple clients who found this to be the missing link. Thiamine, also known as Vitamin B1, directly affect the way the muscles contract along the intestinal tract. B1 blood serum levels drops significantly from high carb meals and sugar. Especially from processed carbs.

This information is excellent!!! A good read is Metabolical by Dr. Lustig who provides similar info..Dr. Lustig is a retired pediatric endocrinologist. His book makes two points: Protect the liver, Feed the gut. The gut microbiome is of utmost importance when it comes to health in general. I am a believer b/c I've been able to heal my gut and the suffering due to bloat, gas, and abdominal pain is gone.

One question I would like to ask is some older people have reduced motility due to neural degeneration. they can also have tears in their small bowel which leads to bleeding and congealed blood adhered to the bowel wall, which creates obstruction. Increasing fiber can back up behind this obstruction.
This is why I think it is critical to do capsule endoscopy to ascertain obstruction, especially in older patients.

I was diagnosed with IBS in the 80's and later diverticulosis...My IBS was constipation dominant..turns out I was lactose intolerant and I had vestibular migraine causing abdominal pain due to abdominal migraine, not diverticulitis, along with a bad gut microbiome. Meds for VM allowed me to eat fiber and heal my gut by increasing the good bacteria. Foods I had to avoid I can now eat and have no gas or bloating. I am 'healed" at age 73 after decades of suffering.
How was your abdominal migraine diagnosed?
@@bronwynst4280 It was diagnosed after I developed symptoms in 2020 that were diagnosed as vestibular migraine in 2022..looking backward as far as childhood and going forward to 2020 it is apparent I had vestibular migraine all those years. A video on youtube by Dr. Michale Teixido explains the progression of vestibular migraine which always has a period, on average, of 9 years, of migraine, generally followed by an IBS diagnosis, followed by BBPV, with childhood nausea, sick headaches and car sickness. I also had 'belly aches' which my mother attributed to constipation...it was likely abdominal migraine. Very few doctors were aware back in the day and few are aware even now unless they deal specifically with VM. Often abdominal migraine is diagnosed when everything else is ruled out..in my case b/c I had diverticular pockets in my colon, 3 to be exact, my pain was assumed to be due to diverticulitis. The problem is most people have, by their 40's, pockets in their colon and have no symptoms. One more thing, in my case the migraine drug Ajovy 'fixed' my abdominal pain and bloating. Were it due to diverticulosis or diverticulitis the Ajovy would not have done that. Treating with Ajovy to see if there is a beneficial response would be a good way to rule out other causes. If you think you might have abdominal migraine it might be worth asking your doctor about giving it a trial to see if you have abdominal migraine..if you do, the Ajovy would likely have a positive effect.
I suffered for years also with your symptoms, manly constipation and gas, trued everything apart from avoiding dairy, booked in for a colonic irrigation on Saturday that's how bad it is, gonna go dairy free as of then.

Oh, I found my doctor. May I tell my story? I'm now 76 yrs old, and almost 5' in height. Before I went on low carb early January of last year, I had been suffering from IBS for over 30 years. No doctor ever gave a name for my leaky gut, but I labelled it as IBS since my experience fits the description given by others on you tube.
The episode I usually go through when IBS strikes is like this: you start feeling some pain below the abdomen, and so you go to the toilet. It will take some time before the first poop comes out. While waiting, the pain starts to build up, your stomach is bloated, you might vomit (which can be very relieving), and then you might have to change clothes because they are drenched with sweat. It might take several hours before hard poops are fully evacuated. And then the time you start feeling real relief is when the soft waste come out and then followed by a series of ejections of watery waste. In the early years, this episode would last probably 3-5 hours. It increased over the years to about 7 hours or more. The last time (March 2021), it lasted for almost 12 hrs. I passed out once because of this (1997), went to hospital on 3 different occasions; the first two were triggered by orange and pineapple, and the last one ( 2021) was due to a milk formulated for seniors, which I bought simply to please a promoter. I underwent a colonoscopy, but it was unsuccessful bcoz the device couldn't go through (but I still paid the entire amount for this). I felt so frustrated, so I tried to find out what can be done without doctor's help.
Fast forward, I went on low carb in 2022, followed strictly the diet, and after 2 weeks, l experienced peace in my gut During the entire year, I didn't have any IBS episode. I was elated. Of course, I became very thin (frm 54 kgs - 39kgs). I didn't mind, so long as I had peace in my gut.
After over a year, I thought I could introduce some change so I could gain some weight. Starting March of this year, started taking in a little more carbs: 3 slices of sweet potatoes or half cup of rolled oats. Very occasionally, when relatives visit, I would have rice or even a small pc of cake.
The problem is that I have been experiencing some discomfort - bloating, gas and some pain - everytime my abdomen wants to be evacuated. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. My question - could this be because of the carbs I reintroduced into my diet? Today, I took my first meal without the extra carbs, and plan to do the same in the weeks to come. If I improve, then I will have to do strict low carb (at least most of the time) the rest of my life - if that's how I will have to continue having peace in my gut.
I shall share the result later. Hopefully, this can add, albeit in a very small way, to the documentation on low carb lifestyle. Thanks for reading.

After 20 plus years talking to so many GI doctors or general practitioners I only feel at peace in my gut on Keto. They gave me the whole FODMAPS BS and it never worked. The only problem is my own laziness and I love to eat carbs!! When I was on Keto I could eat any cruciferous vegetables!! Zero gas. Once I start eating an everyday American diet I bloat and IBS full swing. I wish I could just eat what I want. 😢 I am going back to Keto and working on my cooking skills and variety. This was a really good interview. At first I was a little apprehensive, especially when he talked about paying all that money for a lab. Well it was one of those labs in 2001 that led to me being healed of IBS and so many other things. I learned of the lab and asked for names of doctors in my area who used there services. Through them I found a functional medicine MD.
But as he continued to speak and accepted your suggestion of quercetin, I started to relax a little. Then he mentioned the holistic approach where three doctors are seeing somebody with something that is truly connected.
So yes he is a rare breed of gastroenterologist. I assure you the one I see is not into all this.
What I especially enjoyed was the topic of histamines. It sounds like a reason to grow your own garden, buy directly from the local farmer, or buy frozen.
Quercetin with bromelain was a lifesaver for me. I was living on Benadryl until my functional medicine md put me on this combination and eventually I was able to get off the Benadryl and then off this combination. But now I take bromelain religiously because of what it does with fibrin.
I find that drinking pineapple juice helps. Pineapple contains bromelin.
@@almaburns6562 I avoid fruit juices. I choose the whole fruit, but when I do eat fruit it's most often berries. Occasionally I'll buy fresh pineapple and it's interesting that we're having this discussion, because about 3 weeks ago I bought a pineapple slicer, but I've yet to pick up a pineapple.

Not mistaken this is the gastroenterologist that developed a product called Antrantil for methane SIBO sufferers who usually suffer with constipation. It has helped me tremendously.
A Vegan diet for over 12 years actually created IBS and a leaky gut for me! I was eating tons of fiber, and getting more constipated, bloated and sick by the year. When I finally woke up and stopped the Vegan plant based nonsense, ALL MY BLOATING and IBS WENT AWAY! In the first 3 days! Now I'm on a ketovore type of diet and feeling amazing! Eating plant based isn't, at least for me the healthier way to go. It can actually create serious illness. Thank you for an informative discussion!
It could have been the hybridization of the wheat. You might have had an allergic reaction.
Me also. Very long story short, took 6 months of carnivore for my gut to calm down. Most of my autoimmune symptoms are gone. I was diagnosed with SIFO from aspergillus a few years ago. I was a mess.

Not sure this will be read here but I merely increased mi Magnesium from 500mg to 1000mg and things have changed drastically. I am.also adding probiotics to my daily intake. Folks, this doc is the real deal as he has helped me and I didn't have to go to his office and subject myself to a million tests and get a.fistfull of medications. One of the best gut problem video's I have seen yet and I watch them all, so many things are dead on that he is saying, as I have improved my gut after years of trial and error, but I'm not quit there yet. This is great information. What he says is absolutely spot on. It took me decades to realize I was constipated b/c I had a daily bowel movement so how could I be constipated, right?. In my 30's my stool became pencil thin. Colon cancer etc was ruled out and I was diagnosed with IBS..mine was constipation dominant...I used laxatives often. I then added magnesium citrate daily and it helped a lot... decades later I found out I had abdominal migraine which absolutely does affect motility. Ajovy, which is a monoclonal antibody developed for migraine, and for which I was prescribed for my vestibular migraine was a game changer for me. For the first time in 40 years I had normal bowel movements with no straining..I was able to change/improve my gut microbiome b/c I was able to change my diet and eat high fiber foods without gas, bloating or pain. Life is so much better now and I feel better in my 70's than I did in my 30's.

@@ireneturner2944 I eat both soluble and insoluble fiber from real food, not fiber supplements, and plenty of it daily, and spread it out so I have some at every meal.....when it comes to bread, I limit white bread, whole wheat bread, etc...these are made from flour..you want a true whole grain bread, like Ezekial bread. I eat Simply Nature sprouted 7 grain bread made from whole wheat berries. and other whole grains..you can see the smashed fiber in these breads....at first they didn't taste as good to me, but it didn't take long for me to prefer them...I will eat white bread occasionally but not routinely...The bulk of my daily diet is real food that has minimal processing .. ..fruit like apples,berries,watermelon, pears, canteloupe etc and veggies like potatoes,carrots, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, brussle sprouts, etc...nuts, seeds...when you eat high fiber foods it's important to drink plenty of liquids/water, skip the comercial fruit juices, you can use them to flavor your water...eat an orange instead of drinking orange juice...The main thing is you want both kinds of fiber and plenty of it...this is an example of what I eat in a day: breakfast for me is often sprouted grain bread toasted, spread with sun butter, sprinkled with sunflower kernels and and fresh apple slices......lunch is a sandwich made with 7 grain bread, protein, tomatoes, cucumber slices, mayo and on the side some raw carrots...and a few potato chips ...yes, they are crap carbs too, but it's not about being 'good' or perfect, it's about eating foods you enjoy that are mostly good for you.....supper is protein, fat and carbs from veggies vs pasta etc..pasta isn't the main thing in a meal for me...I'll eat spaghetti, heavy on the meat/protein, sauce and light on the pasta, with a nice green salad loaded with real veggies and dressed with a salad dressing that I enjoy/like......I limit what I call crap carbs...cookies, cake, ice cream, chocolate although I do eat them once a day but if I want something else sweet that day, I eat a fruit based sweet like sliced fresh strawberries, with pecans, sour cream tossed in whipped topping and a sprinkle of mini semi sweet chocolate chips(heavy on the berries)..There's a book titled Metabolical written by a pediatric endocrinologist--his name escapes me at the moment...the take-away from his book is to 'protect the liver, feed the gut" ...you do that by eating real food that is high in both kinds of fiber..it doesn't mean you never eat other things you love..like ice cream...I love it..but I limit it and when I do eat it I add nuts to it ... and I eat real ice cream b/c fat slows down digestion and has a positive effect on blood sugar and insulin. If you eat plenty of both kinds of fiber you will find it is filling and it will fix your gut..most of us have too many of the bad bacteria in our gut..eat the good 'guys' and they will take care of the bad guys and you will find it makes a huge difference in your gut health...the gut microbiome is, I believe as do many others, the key to good health along with a healthy liver..
What is abdominal migraine?
@@noonecares3821 It's pain in the abdomen caused by the same action that causes migraine, ..it is more common in children, but adults have it too..often it is diagnosed as IBS and it can be misdiagnosed as diverticulosis b/c docs look for the cause of the pain and on testing discover their patient has diverticula,which are pockets in the colon, and they conclude that is the cause of the pain...but that diagnosis is based on assumption...it's diagnosis by elimation. They rarely if ever consider abdominal migraine and they conclude it is rare in adults..I had migraine for 9 years in my thirties...it went away...but it didn't go away...my symptoms changed...and 4 decades later the progression of my vestibular migraine became apparent..it started in childhood with abdominal pain which was diagnosed as constipation...I was given a lot of Ex-lax as a kid. It usually takes decades for the dots to be connected...Dr. Teixido on youtube is a neruo-otologist who specializes in migraine and is an expert in vestibular migraine..there are many kinds of migraine, and they share similar symptoms but each kind of migraine has a signifying symptom that points to the particular kind of migraine a person has. Of note, Menieres, Mal DeDebarqment and Verstibular migraine share many of the same symptoms and it can be difficult getting the right diagnosis b/c there are no definitive tests for any of them.
I was so impressed by the logic of this caring doctor that I found his book, “Fiber Fueled!” I’m excited to read more of how he thinks to help me!! Thank you for this wonderful interview!!

Fermented foods not good if you have SIBO. U can get a test with gastro.
Same effect here. My ENT who tested me for all types of allergies advised me to avoid fermented food, among others including all fungi and food with a high-propensity to carrying mould such as cheese, leftovers, bread, peanut butter, etc.

@MrGB1999 it depends in the cause too. ACV is great for stomach acide regulation. But if the issue is lack of digestive enzymes, issues with gastric emptying, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, gut inflammation, IBS, microbiome imbalance, stress, poor nutrition quality, over or under hydration, timing of food etc.
Magnesium sulfate or Magnesium citrate: 500mg up to 1000mg in the evenings. Fiber. Fodmap. But ask your doctor first

I find it interesting that my grandmother who was a district nursing assistant back in the 1940 somethings, always said that what comes out of your body is a good indicator of what your health is like. What goes around comes around, simple observation is often the best detection method.
I used to have an F grade gut biome in Highschool with occasional ulcers and constant indigestion even though I ate clean. Fast forward 20 years later and I have what I call a Superman stomach!!! I've been keto and regular fasting for 5 years now and while I often attribute my strength, flexibility, physic, low body fat, etc on my diet and exercise i believe a lot of it is due to me fixing my gut. I can do spicy foods and abuse myself with too much coffee etc and have a great immune system etc. a few big tricks that helped me ...I break my fast with bone broth and collagen daily and do kefir and small amounts of fruit daily. Every day I do this and eat minimal to no carbs daily. Feed the good bacteria and starve the bad. It really is that simple. @@candybeckingham yeah no problem....I often stop eating between 6pm-8pm and fast until between noon or as late as 3 or even 4pm. Give or take a couple hours. 16/17 hours is the common regular daily routine and often once or twice a week I do 18-22 hrs. I often only eat 2 massive meals a day and avoid snacking like the plague as it's bad for all sorts of systems but that's a whole other conversation. Eat like a king anytime you put a single calorie in your body for optimal health. Big tip I learned later on is ***After doing daily fasting for several months you'll want to switch to alternate day fasting to keep your metabolism at the same pace so natural homeostasis doesn't kick in and down regulate your metabolism. ETRF is another good fasting method that might be even better and I do on some of the days I am more active early on. That is early time restricted feeding where you break your fast early on in the morning and you just quit eating much earlier like say you break your fast at seven or 8 AM but then you're gonna wanna be done eating your last meal by 4pm. ETRF has added benefits of the body's natural rhythms but is tough for me most days because I like to eat dinner with my wife and she isn't off work until 5pm. Fasting and keto has fixed my severe hypoglycemia which is another thing Doctors say is absolutely incurable! I can get through serious workouts deep into a fasted state like up to 22 hours which has added HGH and testosterone boosting properties and helps you directly tap into fat supplies for super efficient weight loss. I used to turn red after I ate and sometimes got welts, etc., not to mention other systemic issues (histamine and leaky gut). I quit drinking high fructose corn syrup (Gatorade, etc.).took a probiotic, and cleaned up my diet a bit and ten years of bad symptoms were gone in thirty days. It's been fine ever since and that was 13 years ago. I was clueless and suffered for all that time for no reason. I have struggled with histamine intolerance and IBS symptoms for over 15 years. So much so I had to try and solve the riddle by myself using a holistic approach and have since qualified as a dietitian. I agree it would be so beneficial to be able to treat patients with a holistic approach and discuss things in a holistic whole picture kind of way.
That's really interesting about the histamine relation to food. I've had horrible allergies my whole life and also severe stomach issues - at times so severe I'd have to go to hospital due to severity of pain, yet doctors could never diagnose. Figuring out my trigger foods over the years has helped. I've been able to successfully treat my allergy issues w/ anti-histamines and sleeping with a humidifier (this was really the game-changer). But what's also interesting is that whenever I drink alcohol I always wake up with a horrible runny nose the next morning. I never realized this could be a histamine issue until he brought it up.

Psyllium Husk is an awesome way to feed the micro biome with the type of fibre it needs to thrive. Also it REALLY helps forms good mass and clean finish. Many other benefits too!

I've been munching around 3 or 4 teaspoons of chia seeds a day and taking magnesium glycinate and have had great motility since I started doing this back in Dec., '23.
NEVER eat chia seeds dry, Always put it in liquid and drink more liquid after.

Magnesium over 800 mg gives me the $#!+$. Chia needs to be soaked. Eat it like pudding with plenty of extra water. Most people are actually dehydrated because they don't drink enough water

A gynecologist explained to me that in women, IBS can be "constipation diarrhea". They develop poor ligamental support in the pelvic floor due to stressors like childbirth, heavy lifting or exercise. This allows "kinking" in the gut. This causes partial blockages. Then only liquid stool can pass it after building up pressure to push past the blockage.

For me, its dairy, dairy and more dairy! I'm mostly carnivore which I love and I thought dairy would be good. Felt backed up and very puffy stomach for awhile, which isn't normal for me. Finally decided to eliminate all dairy products and my stomach went back to flat and I'm digesting normal again. Dairy is way too inflammatory for me.
Probably because it’s heavily adulterated with the pasteurization process. Raw is a big difference.

Pasteurization is literally heating the milk there's no "adulteration" the only adulteration is the cow itself, stress hormones, estrogens, cortisol, rbst etc. Raw changes none of that

As you said, there are many reasons for bloating! One reason that I recently learned about is Ovarian Cancer. My friend had no idea why she felt so bloated and she tried everything - doctors, a nutritionist, changed to an even healthier diet, exercised daily and taught Pilates etc. Two months later she found out too that she had stage 4 ovarian cancer.

@@dividivi2369had those symptoms and had a pelvic ultrasound and my ovaries were fine but I had a tiny fibroid . I was tested for H Pylori and yes I had it . Hormonal imbalance during perimenopause changed my gut bacteria . I had really bad acid reflux and had an endoscopy. Everything was fine no cancer . I am a lot better now but still a bit lactose intolerance . If you have any symptoms of digestive problems, just ask the doctor to check for ovarian cancer and stomach cancer . When you visit a doctor they just put you on Nexium and in the long run you will end up with B12 deficiency and osteoporosis.
My aunt died from ovarian cancer. Tall, slender woman, but she neglected to check out the bloating, and it was too late.😢
I have to say, Dr B's second book was even better than the first. Yes, there are recipes. But there's a lot science and even _actionable information_ on food sensitivities that I've not seen anywhere else.

This is so good. I have SIBO and IBS-D, sometimes histamine intolerance, and lots of crazy side effects! He did hit on all topics of many docs I have seen, and topics of what I personally have found with trial and error. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS! I am finding that alone is the killer and dairy for me. So hard to find things without, in the fitness world. Where can I find this doc? I would love to schedule an appointment, I’ve been left stranded and messed up from other natural paths who have killed off a lot of my good bacteria and left me struggling alone 😢
In most European countries artificial sugars are not allowed. We tend only to think of diet type sweeteners but soda has high fructose corn syrup while European soda has just sugar in it. Fructose corn syrup is in a lot of American made food. GMO foods are also not permitted in some European countries either. I haven't eaten corn in 25 years and I can no longer get regular watermelon anymore just gmo seedless and it's very annoying. I like some cereal now and then but I only purchase Kamut flakes because it is a designated heirloom wheat not permitted to be gmo'd. It is very nutritious like other wheats and grains used to be.
Women who have taken blended hormone replacement therapy containing premarin (progesterone) may have gas & bloating from ovarian carcinomas. I lost a dear friend to OC who had been told my multiple doctors that she had IBS. She had no idea that bloating can be a symptom of ovarian cancer. One more needless death of a beautiful soul from our realm.

I lost a friend to OC from taking Premarin also. So sad her Dr never mentioned it. I had left nursing & when we had lunch one day & she told me she bloated each time she ate I urged her to see a GYN. She was already Stage4 & passed away just 2 years later.

Great Video !! I suffer with IBS (at least that's what my GIs label it), for decades. I'm 71 YO, and have always been a "nervous" guy. Anxiety attacks plagued me for a long time - from early childhood, from nail biting and so on. Despite the excellent info, I think one thing was not Addressed as a potential contributor to these Conditions. Spinal Issues - mostly Stenosis or certain disc herniations. And Cervical Spine issues labeled Cervical Instabilities [CI] which can and does affect the Vagus Nerve are a big potential contributor to Stamach / Belching /IBS problems. CI can wreak Havoc with many body functions as it can affect the Vagus Nerve. I suffer with CI whih gives me Tinnitus, Vertigo, Occiptal Headaches, Chronic Siusitis, IBS, and even Bladder (and Bowel) incontinence. regarding the Swallowing of air, I'm sure Im very guilty of it. But i think (not a doctor, but a conductor of lots of personal research into health topics) the Diaphragm is spasmetic from the CI and Thoracic disc maladies. I also have 25 degree Dextroscoliosis created by a Leg length Discrepancy of a 1" shorter right leg since age 16 (fractured right femur in 1966). The LLD was lft Unaddressed until it was too late. it twisted my spine, and it curved with Scoliosis from the imbalance in my spine. Moreover, I have 2 Lumbar Discs , L2 & L3 that Bulge into the front toward the stomach and to the rear into the spinal canal. One Neurologist i visited said: "That May affect your Stomach". I think it does.

3 year carnivore for ulcerative colitis here 👋 I’ve only really had proper easy bm’s since I added some soluble fibre back in. Well cooked broccoli, courgette, asparagus, pickles and some lettuce. Interesting. I am finally having remisson of the UC and having regular bm's after cutting out all fiber. Pretty much carnivore now. I feel reborn. But maybe at some point I can add back some fibers.

Thank you for stressing the importance of the holistic approach. I've had gut issues for over 30 years and was diagnosed with IBS ages ago. I have also struggled with many other issues and have dealt with so many specialists for each of them. I was led to believe by general practitioners that my gut problems were caused by the other problems (and stress), but now it makes so much more sense to recognize hat the unaddressed gut issues are probably causing the other problems.

Implicit assumption: insufficient intake from food, but what about the consistent doses from drinking water before humans messed with it? Plenty of trade-offs, sure.
