Carnivore for the month of January. Haven’t farted once since I started this. Was on a high protein diet high fiber diet before this and my gas and bloating was HORRENDOUS ! I was eating clean, BTW. I’m loving carnivore. May not be able to go back to high fiber ever again 😳
I totally get what your saying. I'm of the opinion that Chronic Inflammation of the Bowel is the greater problem for Immobility. Eating a Anti-inflammatory diet such as Carnivore solves the problem without Fiber. Plus the massive decrease in Carbohydrates heals the Intestinal Mucous Membranes which further compounds the health benefits. I look forward to 10 years from now, when Doctors finally have better knowledge to draw from.
@@Level20HTMany people eat a diet that has a lot of fiber and they are healthy and feel great. They eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables with no issues. I personally believe it is because they have all the necessary good bacteria in their gut to properly and easily digest the fiber. That's why people consume fermented foods in order to get the right amount and wide enough variety of good bacteria. Also called probiotics.
Started carnivore January 1 with the same positive results. I only bloat now if I have too much coffee or a cigar. People might say that makes no sense, but that's exactly how it is in my case.

Magnesium and fiber do NOT address the underlying cause of constipation. Constipation is caused by some type of microorganism, whether it's mold, yeast, SIBO, H-pylori, parasites, and/or a virus. These pathogens end up lowering your body temperature, which cause a lack of enzymes to break down food, hence the constipation, which doctors will refer to as IBS. The FIRST thing anyone should do is test for all of these pathogens to see which one(s) you have, then treat that illness. Once that happens, you need to heal the gut (leaky gut) with colostrum or glutamine, depending on which your body tolerates better, and combine it with a good aloe. These supplements will NOT work until you've cleared the pathogens, since they can't fight though them and get to the wall of the gut. All magnesium and fiber will do is mask the problem. They don't fix the problem. This is the main problem with most medically trained GI doctors. They have no idea of the actual cause of digestive issues and how to fix them on a causal level.
While I disagree with the absolute nature of your statement, I do agree that what you describe is one cause of constipation or general digestive issues. I also found the gentleman in the video to be useless as tits on a bull informationwise. Imma paste the comment I made on this video to demo how I felt... "He is making very bold claims without any causation whatsoever. Lemme keep this critique simple and short. This is why if you want to be a professional you have to have some proof of causation in one direction. If we are just gonna make shit up i can do that too. Imma say bloating causes constipation and ill add causation.. bloating constricts the bowels making it harder for bowel mobility. Gee, that seems pretty simple and obvious. @@lookfeelbehealthy6320 even if that were true it doesn't mean the toxicity is local to where the symptoms occur. The toxicity may not even involve that system. Regardless, your statement is not true because there absolutely are genetic mutations and combinations that manifest as a condition or disease. It's not toxicity that causes down syndrome or cerebral palsey, you should know, you have the former. That's a joke, but for real that is why I don't agree with the absolute nature of what you're saying. I only go as far as toxicity is underappreciated as a root cause for many diseases and conditions. Also I believe cancer is a metabolic disease stemming from mitochondria damage preventing celular respiration and then mutating to ferment for energy instead of respirate. This damage to the mitochondria though could be caused by anything. It could be from toxicity or it could a result of trauma from a car accident. How the cell was damaged is irrelevant to cancer forming. Why? Because each instance of autophagy is a chance for cancer to form. It's simply the result of cell damage that causes cancer...of course other things must happen like the random mutation to fermentation to accommodate the inability to respirate. Normally that damage would kill the cell but laws of probability coupled with how many iterations of cell damage and repair occur mean cancer forming is inevitable and the causation is all encompassing not narrow and limited to toxicity. Very succinct and valuable information. Theres a lot of confusing and seemingly conflicting info out there about digestion and constipation. I hear that SIBO is also a culprit for bloating, gas and IBS. I wonder how connected SIBO is to constipation.
Does anybody remember pop guns, you would put a cork in the end of a pipe and then you had a plunger in the other end and it would pop the cork out That seem to be what was happening years ago when I ate multiple times a day. It's like a plug of food would push air through your system and move another plug of food so that you had air between them Now that I only eat once a day, I have never had gas again So it's my postulation that you have to have food still in your system from the last time you ate... So, when I poke fun at Thomas and his obsessions with rodent studies I'm ribbing an old pal, not being a dick. I understand those studies carry some important data, hence why context is key. The other guy however, I am being a dick to because he is a clown selling snake oil in the form of online courses. I would love to hear tho, why you think this channel isn't for me?
Oops… I’m sorry, I’m the one who is in the wrong channel… Okay, I’m 58 and I’m the proud owner of a completely refurbished colon. Yes, a colon that’s has been bleeding since I’m 13. The doctor and me can’t get enough of my last colonoscopy video showing 90% improvement compared to my previous two colonoscopies when they had to cut a few polyps, big mess! (My father died at 53, colon cancer) How I did it? Long story, but some of the stuff this doctor is talking about came to play in my case. He just didn’t have the time to explain himself. But I guess you’re right with the points you are explaining. Love to see you are just poking fun at Tom and you are not a hater. Peace!!!
@38kenaly I'm glad. I take my digestive system seriously as well. I'm 50, and my grandfather had a colostomy because of cancer surgery. My gut health and nutrition are a top priority, and I eat with purpose. I'm not insinuating that there is no good advice to be had in this guy's words, but I will add the caveat that even a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut. Kudos and good luck with your health Oh, let me make a comparison to a more obvious example of the archetype at play I take issue with regarding this guest in the video. I liken him to a Dr. Gundry who hustles info about leaky gut. Is leaky gut a real problem? Absolutely!!! My issue with guys like this and Dr. Gundry is that they economically gate keep some supposed secret, often exaggerated, extreme, or contrarian approach to a legit problem such as leaky gut, IBS or whatever. Keeping with the Gundry example, imo his marketing strategy is to fear monger as many common food items as he can. They do this knowing a fixed percent of ppl will bite because they think, "Oh no, I have tomatoes in my refrigerator; no wonder I have gut pain, lemme watch this free video ad". Then they are in the sales funnel for these jack asses and avoid eating everything under the sun. These guys need to exaggerate, etc, because they need extra secret food items on the avoid the list because why else would you pay for a known list of food items easily found free on the Healthline website or whatever. My point is real infomis free and ubiquitous today, and anyone repackaging that indo and selling is morally bankrupt.
Variety of food is more important than anything. All the supplements are compensating for a lack of diversity. I can eat a box of Wheaties and get plenty of fiber and water, but I'll get constipated. But if I eat the same amount of fiber and calories but split it up among 5 different fruits, 5 different nuts, spring mix, various peppers, oatmeal, whole grain pasta, and some whole grain bread with 10 different grains and seeds, then the constipation goes away and the serotonin flows all day like a runner's high, seriously. Adding exercise on top of it makes it that much better. I probably eat 25 different whole food sources of fiber a day, maybe 40 a week. I don't ask you to trust me, I just ask that you give it a try for a few months. Slowly introduce more sources. Don't go from 5 to 30 overnight or your gut will not like it. Drink plenty of water and do strength training, cardio, or both everyday in a manner that is challenging. It's not enough to eat oatmeal, an orange, and iceberg lettuce for your sources of fiber. Diversity is the key.
whats also very important (if you have constipation) that ive literally never heard anywhere: avoid SOUR things if ur digestion is slow and u eat something sour (especially in the context of a diet that contains carbs/fiber) stuff FERMENTS LIKE CRAZY - ull notice this when u fart a lot so yea ACV is often suggested by many ppl (allegedly "stomach acid fixes everything" right?) but if ur digestion for whatever reason is slow then acids r ur worst enemy
I started doing milk of magnesia and another bit of magnesium laxative right before I go to bed. And drinking two glasses of water in the morning. it has really helped reduce the farting and burping. Thanks. I feel lighter and quicker too.
This is 150% true. But what's causing the problem with motility is MSG which is in mostly processed food! MSG depletes serotonin in the gut so the nerves that trigger the muscles of the intestines become spastic. Spastic colon so food will ferment and causes gas and boosting and chronic inflammation
Can you get dependent on the magnesium citrate though if taken too long consistently? I feel like my issue has been laxative dependency so ive been on Lubiprostone for 2weeks but i feel no urge on that so im thinking of the citrate supplement higher dosage because doc's dont tell me my problem
I have intermittent IBS diarrhea. I've tried the full spectrum of Mag supplements and they all give me explosive intestinal episodes. My body simply cannot tolerate it at all. Citrate, Oxide and Glycinate, all completely nasty. Trying to compensate with dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds and spinach.
It boggles my mind that he can say it's not diet. It absolutely is. Stop eating sugar and grains. Those will mess you up more than most other things. Get exercise. Moving around, especially walking, absolutely gets the bowels working. Magnesium is important and will certainly help, but guess what? Sugar and grains both deplete the body of magnesium!!! Fiber is not needed in the human diet, though it can help as a temporary medicine to address constipation.
Blows my mind that the comment section thinks they know more than a Doctor who literally spends his whole day treating patients with GI issues...not saying the comments are wrong, but most people has really only treated themselves or a few people around them.
1000 mg of magnesium is too much!!!!! Watch out! Your heart is a muscle, smooth muscle. Dangerous things happen to your heart when taking too much magnesium
I didn't even watch the whole garbage video yet. I like Thomas, but this guest was terrible. In case he provided some other reason let me tell you what magnesium does. It draws water into the gut. This is why it relieves constipation. This is why when you take a little too much magnesium you have to run to the toilet. It's not relieving call inspiration because you're deficient in magnesium and now have it. If you're magnesium levels are good, and you take magnesium in a decent quantity you will get the runs. This is a terrible way to treat constipation and the reasons should be obvious so imma forgo them
before you take this as gospel GET YOUR VAGUS NERVE CHECKED. another note, its easy to tell if you have too much magnesium is if you have diarrhea and if that is the case when your taking mag just lower your dose by one pill, most doses are 250mg so its easy.
I am not constipated all ok there but watch me eat a lettuce leaf a tomato and warm water and like now I cannot walk due to size and pain from bloating. 24.7 for weeks
1000mg of magnesium just to keep your bowels moving? That's almost 3X the upper tolerable limit of magnesium supplementation based upon the Health Professionals Fact Sheet! I call Bulsiewics! I get that this doctor is part of a group that promotes a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. And I get that he wants to help his people overcome the almost constant farting associated with this lifestyle. But if your diet requires you to take a daily laxative, which is what you are taking when you take 1000mg of magnesium oxide, then maybe there is a problem with your diet. It's not magnesium deficiency. It's not magnesium depletion of the soil. It's your diet.
Please explain then why throughout my whole life eating a plant based high fibre diet i was bloated and farting all the time and had horrible digestion, and for the last two years ive eating virtually zero fibre and all these issues have completely resolved. Countless others with the same story also. This guy knows shit about shit.
WRONG! Opposite. I never have constipation but having a good bowel movement at least once a day. And always bloated. I never have take away , fried or ultra processed food.

Is it gas _and_ bloating that is correlated to constipation, or one or the other? Not trying to call myself out, but I have gas. I don't have bloating or constipation though. Intuitively, bloating seems like it would be gas that is not moving in your digestive tract, perhaps because constipation is blocking it. Some gas may still make an exit though. And gas without bloating would insinuate that everything is moving properly. I'm not convinced that gas is bad, and bloating seems to be a result of constipation and gas, not gas in itself.
Hardly a revelation that’s basic common sense, making an observation such as the cause of constipation is likely lack of stomach acid would be far more interesting!
I think the number 1 reason for constipation is caused by people not chewing their food properly, especially us men. We can take one bite of a hamburger or steak chew it two or three times and it's gone. We wake up the next day, and can't go to the bathroom like we want to because the stomach is working overtime to break down the meat. Next thing you know you're eating a big breakfast on top of the food that the bile is trying to breakdown. People don't watch how they eat and not even realizing you're just packing food, on top of food, on top of food. Then when your able to go you're stinking up the whole entire house with the smell of death. 🤢🤮 It's bad when you can smell a person through the bathroom door.
Bloating is one thing. Gas is another. Make the difference & separate the two. Gas can definitely be caused by high nitrogen food. Call it constipation., or whatever you want. semantics. But certain foods will cause more gas(constipation). Using your terminology. Too much B.S here
Gas does cause bloating though. Trapped gas with nowhere to go is just going to expand your belly. That’s not bs. What is bs is saying we need fiber, and that something that is indigestible heals the gut. I feel like since fiber isn’t digestible then we don’t really need it. That’s where he is lying.
Tom . You have to fix this echo in your videos . It is so unprofessional . You need room treatment if you want to make videos . Amateur stuff for how long you have been doing this .
I feel sad that this Dr is advising to take a supplement rather than giving advice of not putting the offending substance in your gut in the first place. I have healed all my gut issues by NOT eating fibre
I agree. These people just blindly agreeing with that guy don’t understand. They don’t understand that anything indigestible you keep consuming, over time that is going to cause problems in the gut. Undigested waste is not going to help anything.

Though I'm not sure about the accuracy of those since most of the magnesium is in our cells, at least as I understood form many different sources.
So I would like to know if there is any other possible test to have more accurate results?
Or am I wrong and one of them is good enough? If yes, which one?
Thanks in advance.
Wow!!!!!! This is all you need to know. What goes in must come out. Such incredible simple important information.
Also called probiotics.
my farts were so bad they woke me up
Started carnivore January 1 with the same positive results. I only bloat now if I have too much coffee or a cigar. People might say that makes no sense, but that's exactly how it is in my case.

@@dennisward43Indeed. This guy is missing HUGE pieces of the puzzle.
If most people who are bloated are also constipated that not only DOESN'T mean that constipation causes bloating it COULD mean bloating causes constipation. @@Thee-_-Outlier Every single health condition has a root cause of some type of toxicity.

@@Thee-_-Outlier First of all, I'm a holistic health practitioner who's been working with clients for 20 years, so what I say is absolutely true. Secondly, you're correct on the specific conditions you pointed out, so I'll clarify and modify what I said slightly. Conditions people are born with are not due to toxicity. Again, you're correct on that front. However, EVERY condition that a person develops later in life has an origin of toxicity of some kind. NO exceptions.
I kinda disagree with him. I'm pretty regular. I go to the toilet like 2x a day, nice ghost ones .. but if I eat porridge with blueberries on top .. OMG I turn into a puffer fish within 2-3 hours!
Very succinct and valuable information. Theres a lot of confusing and seemingly conflicting info out there about digestion and constipation. I hear that SIBO is also a culprit for bloating, gas and IBS. I wonder how connected SIBO is to constipation.
Stress was my cause of IBS and whole lot of other issues. Meditation bring my stress hormone levels down a solved all of my health struggles.
Does anybody remember pop guns, you would put a cork in the end of a pipe and then you had a plunger in the other end and it would pop the cork out
That seem to be what was happening years ago when I ate multiple times a day. It's like a plug of food would push air through your system and move another plug of food so that you had air between them
Now that I only eat once a day, I have never had gas again
So it's my postulation that you have to have food still in your system from the last time you ate... Which is basically what this guy's saying
So much of my guts issues went away when I stopped eating brown bread. Constipation, bloating, farting madly..

Kudos and good luck with your health
Oh, let me make a comparison to a more obvious example of the archetype at play I take issue with regarding this guest in the video.
This interview could’ve been shot in the 1990s with recommendations like that.

Great video!
This video is very very very helpful for me 🎉

whats also very important (if you have constipation) that ive literally never heard anywhere: avoid SOUR things
if ur digestion is slow and u eat something sour (especially in the context of a diet that contains carbs/fiber) stuff FERMENTS LIKE CRAZY - ull notice this when u fart a lot
so yea ACV is often suggested by many ppl (allegedly "stomach acid fixes everything" right?) but if ur digestion for whatever reason is slow then acids r ur worst enemy
Hey Thomas can i ask why you not talking a bout matcha tea anymore ? Is there some news i missed , thanks and love your work
I started doing milk of magnesia and another bit of magnesium laxative right before I go to bed. And drinking two glasses of water in the morning. it has really helped reduce the farting and burping. Thanks. I feel lighter and quicker too.
mag oxide is the worse form there is. however most people need magnesium anyway
Mg oxide is known for it's laxative effect, hence why he is recommending it
This is 150% true. But what's causing the problem with motility is MSG which is in mostly processed food! MSG depletes serotonin in the gut so the nerves that trigger the muscles of the intestines become spastic. Spastic colon so food will ferment and causes gas and boosting and chronic inflammation
There’s a lot said about getting the right fibre and microbes but for many eating meat has lead to greater diversity in their guts and no bloating.
So what are some natural laxative alternatives?
Can you get dependent on the magnesium citrate though if taken too long consistently? I feel like my issue has been laxative dependency so ive been on Lubiprostone for 2weeks but i feel no urge on that so im thinking of the citrate supplement higher dosage because doc's dont tell me my problem

Magnesium? Yes. Fiber supplement? No. More fiber often equals even more constipation and bloating. Eat more fat ftw.

This is a terrible way to treat constipation and the reasons should be obvious so imma forgo them
@@rachaelthompson6841 ok, then should I just take 500mg before bed, would that be better?
Be careful, he said ask your doctor first !! Taking so much magnesium in one take is too dangerous, not more than 200mg by take
Why am I watching this and eating lunch?!
before you take this as gospel GET YOUR VAGUS NERVE CHECKED. another note, its easy to tell if you have too much magnesium is if you have diarrhea and if that is the case when your taking mag just lower your dose by one pill, most doses are 250mg so its easy.
Why should you get your vagus nerve checked?
Lemon, consume the whole lemon. …olive oil, walk daily.
Carb's?
so whats the cause?
Read my comment. It'll answer your question.
I am not constipated all ok there but watch me eat a lettuce leaf a tomato and warm water and like now I cannot walk due to size and pain from bloating. 24.7 for weeks
What about body odor???
Don’t constipate…evacuate
Yes!

Trapped gas that doesn’t escape can have a correlation with constipation. Bloating too.
Hardly a revelation that’s basic common sense, making an observation such as the cause of constipation is likely lack of stomach acid would be far more interesting!
What TYPE of fiber?? Psyllium? Cellulose? Inulin??

Lost me at "bazillion"
