Bought a £15 cleaning and disassembly kit from Amazon, heatsinks and the 'cheese grater' radiator block behind/below the fan are definitely the cause of most overheating issues as they get clogged very quickly, especially in dusty environments, I cleaned my heatsinks a few times and still had issues, so had to reach further into my console with a toothbrush to clean the radiator block itself. Definitely worth a look if anyone is having console issues, I could have made sculptures with the amount of dust I got.

definitely check and clean … within my first year of owning my PS5 shut off randomly after about 30 minutes of usage. At my old house, the dust build up was really bad since my room was so small. So for about 9-10 months, I just gave up and thought my PS5 was broken forever. I really don’t know why opening up my system and cleaning the fan and everything inside didn’t cross my mind. As I moved into my new house a few months ago, I decided to give it a try because, hey why not at this point lol. After a quick clean and usage of a compressed air can, the system was good as new. I could leave it on for days if I really wanted to. The moral of the story is if your system is constantly turning off after short usage, just clean your fans. Don’t be like me lmfaooo

Not bad for 2 years though so I’ll probably give it another go yearly or so just for maintenance. It’s reallt not hard to do a quick cleaning. I feel like the best thing to do is be preventative. You can buy a dust cover for that middle area and/or a whole dust sleeve for when ur not using it.

You forgot to mention the Dust that builds up inside the PS5 system.
When you remove the Fan and look down inside the console to where the power unit is.
I clean my console regularly, but just recently found this on reddit. My console just turned off in the middle of playing, due to overheating.
It's very hard to reach with a vacuum, but theres small holes. Mine were completely sealed. I used compressed co2 to blow the dust out.
It's very important to clean too.
    Greetings and nice video.

Every time I try to clean electronics by myself, even when I'm looking at guides to help, I always end up breaking something. That's how I broke my first PS3. Tried to clean the inside and ended up breaking the cable connection to the fan.

I cleaned my PS2 and when putting it back together, I pulled the metal strip from the power button. 😥

That's EXACTLY what I did when I cleaned my PS5 for the first time... turned out that the connector and the pins which go into it got stuck and I pulled out the entire thing out from the motherboard. Needed soldering and a new piece, even now I'm afraid to undo it.

@@MrBrentEC if I can do it u can to bro all u gotta do is grab both ends of the white plastic that got the wires don't go further down try going as high as you can because if you grab the plastic underneath it will fuck up the motherboard but anyways once you grab on wiggle the connector left and right while also moving it up a little it will take some time but that's the safest way

I've been opening mine up and cleaning it routinely about every 3-5 months since launch. I disconnect the fan blade and thoroughly wipe and remove all of the dust out, as well as clean a majority of the heatsink partially as well. My unit is almost 2 years old at this point and I've never had any issues! Routine dust removal does wonders, especially since the console builds up alot of dust over time naturally.
