Bug Expert from the south of the continent here. Those are "Blattella Germanica", commonly known as german cockroaches. They're small, like an inch big at most, we call them "Chiripas" over here in Venezuela. They're annoying, and love electronics for some reason, we commonly see them inside air conditioning units, behind refrigerators, etc. Basically any device that produces warmth of some sort, will attract them.
I have read that bugs love electronic so much because the coating on the wires isn't actually plastic. It's made from some soy compound and when it gets hot, they can smell it. Run right too it like the dinner bell is ringing.

Those are German Cockroaches. They come for the food, and stay for the warmth. Also, the power supply is the main thing the roaches are attracted to, so I bet there were quite a few dead ones in there. They go into the power supply because of the heat it generates, accidentally touch two points, and get absolutely fried. That's why a lot of roach consoles won't power on. The power supply gets fried.

Nice video as always, but shouldn't you have opened up and cleaned the inside of the power supply? I guess that would be a lot of bugs inside since it is warm in there
Yeah, it's dangerous to fool around in there if you aren't careful and know what you're doing. But I think it's fine to do it as long as you check/discharge the capacitors. If you did it on camera, you'd definitely need to caveat/warn about it appropriately.
Yeah I agree. There's most likely a bit of bugs / bug guts in there that should be cleaned out. But I also understand not wanting to mess with the power supply. I guess it could be swapped out though.
Agree my first thought too not really that dangerous to remove the top plastic and give it a little blow out with some air with a straw nozzle attachment to be extra careful

Need for Speed! I see a cultured gamer here. Loved the video, you took your time and gave your best and it looks amazing. I find restoration videos relaxing and i often post ads on marketplace to clean their consoles and it's super relaxing. I once had one PS4 with live bugs and i refused to work on it.
Very satisfying video to watch. Keep them coming. Maybe not so gross with bugs but restoring ones. Although the bug ones are fun to watch. You can tell you take great care and like what you are doing. Great job!
Very pleasing to see how the console was brought back to life! Does anybody else love the smell of new electronics with a fan e.g. a new graphics card or console?!
This is why i was just telling my cousin about setting up roach traps like these. Just let it run idle with a slight dust of diatomaceous earth around the device and eventually they'll all die off
After 15 months of owning a PS5 I finally cleaned it yesterday. Not a deep clean though, just the fan. A bit surprised that it's not as dirty as I thought it should, considering my play room is on the second floot (hotter), not air-conditioned, the console is near always-open windows, and I smoke a lot. The fan and ventilation grills are relatively easy to clean, not too many dust have accumulated. But the metal parts are yellowed and somehow a little corroded in a few places. No bugs though. Absolute bummer.
Unless you live in space, or maybe the middle of Antarctica, there are going to be cockroaches. Those might be either American or German cockroaches - either way, nasty stuff. Peroxide, followed by an IPA rubdown, will make the clean-up easier. Not easy - just easier. It also does a fair job with removing the odor. And most southerners won't call them roaches - they call them Palmetto bugs, but those tend to be MUCH larger - same family, different species.
I think those were german cockroaches. Agreed, they do tend to live everywhere, but in colder climates they are not as common when there isn't an infestation. American cockroaches are common in Texas, they are huge. They don't usually infest like german ones do, more often live under decks or other damp places. When they sneak their way inside it can be quite jolting to see such a huge nasty creature.
Reminds me of my 1st place…had some paper plates on top of refrigerator and one evening i reached for 1 and knocked them over….the amount of roaches was unbelievable…after that the wife and i went to store and removed everything from kitchen and sprayed everything after that we never seen them again as we moved 3 months later
I remember many MANY years ago, cleaning up an original NES that had this same problem. The cartridge connector was also completely rusted (something I haven't seen before or since), and required a complete replacement, but otherwise it worked great after a full cleaning.
I dropped my connector in vinegar 12% for 2/3 days or a week I don't remember correctly. The rust was gone, but there are just markings left where the rust was 😂 It's working perfectly ! Same for my N64 ! My family used to put alcohol-based parfum in there. Bad idea if you ask me
At 1:19 Voided warrenty.... Those voided removed stickers are technically illegal, buy federal law. Other UA-camrs that I watch had that information. Apparently there is up to it either a $5,000 or $10,000 fine, per incident. You should look that up, maybe you can get Sony to give you some money....
I will have to agree with Shinoda about the bugs being German Roaches. They are extremely hard to get rid of. When you see one, there is a small nest around somewhere, without a doubt. It is not the warmth they seek, but dark & small places they look for. The best way to get rid of them is to get a Bug Spray Boom and place it in the Attic. Leave the home with your pets (even the fish) for a few hours.
That was so satisfying. I used to clean controllers and keyboards in my off time at my old job, and this made me miss how zen that whole process made me feel.
This is literally so gross. lol. I came over here from Steve’s channel cuz I just had to see this nasty thing cleaned. I don’t really have a soft stomach, but this one made it turn a little bit. Kudos for the patience and willingness to clean off the bug “cement”.
Like the videos. I notice the comments about the magic eraser scuffing the plastic. Have you considered applying some Automotive plastic polish at the end? Many brands can be applied by hand without a buffer. They are used to repair the gloss sheen on trim.
I'd definitely use a cutter and buff the outer black plastic case to remove the scratches; I did this with a super slim PS3 and all but the deepest scratches were removed.
Rn i have this problem where my ps5 light will come on and then instantly shut off and i know it has roaches in it because we had a neighbor full of roaches that got into our apartment. Need help with this i think my power supply got fried....
I came over after watching TronicsFix's video. Wasn't dissapointed. As a proponent of Right to Repair (and not choking turtles with discarded heatsinks), I love watching videos like this! Looking forward to the next video.
Over here in England we have a thing called Brasso wadding. Its a mild metal polish in like cotton wool type material. Perfect for removing bug guts from metal then just wipe with IPA. Much faster I would think.
i think i can speak on his behalf, my old ps4 looked like this(dead roaches every where) but give people like him the benefit of the doubt. if his story is the same as mine we live in apartments and well if your neighbor has roaches so do you
Yeah i used to live in apartment with disgusting neighbors. It was a constant battle to keep them from infesting our apartment as well. As soon as we moved, no problems with roaches.
Pretty fuckin nuts how difficult they make it to actually clean these things. I've had mine for 2 years and I'd love to clean it but this looks like a nightmare
Honestly speaking, i also found alot of cockroaches invested unit when buying used ps5. Idk if it just the design that attract some bugs/insect or its just the previous owner have terribly dirty room invested with bugs
You should pickup some gun cleaning patches, they come in different sizes and clean just as good if not better than q-tips. They are made of cotton and come in very small to big sizes. Fairly cheap to come across and they definitely helped me cleaning my old consoles.
In the United States under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, manufacturers CANNOT void a warranty solely because a consumer has opened up the device or had it repaired by a third party. However, if the tampering or third-party repair causes damage, the warranty can be voided for that particular issue (this can happen regardless if sticker is removed or not, think of how they say that damage was your negligence, not our defect and void your warranty anyways).
I once bought a broken PC at a yard sale and it had 100’s of live bugs in it! Suffice it to say I only was able to retrieve the HDD and the ram the little guys were running up my arm as I was removing the parts! I tossed the rest into my outdoors trash can had to and hosed it down with bleach which prompted an army of them to start running up the sides of the inside of the can! I had to use a big can of raid just to kill them all! 😂
Came here from Steve's channel and I'm always looking for channels like this. Well worth the sub here after seeing the transformation of that nasty PS5.
This is always my favorite part of the repair process, it's just so satisfying. I'm not sure which is worse, a machine from a smoker or bugs. They're both nasty! Goo Gone helps dissolve a surprising array of disgusting substances btw, along with bathroom/kitchen cleaning sprays.
How was the smell after cleaning? I ask because often times no amount of cleaning eliminates the smell completely. It seems to have entered the plastic parts or something.
Cant imagine how someone can let something get so bad. If this is how bad the inside of the ps5 looks, imagine how bad the house and everything thing else in that house is. And someone LIVES there in that filth!!
So for that middle gloss strip from the PS5(where the power and eject buttons are) do you have to disassemble the PS5 or is there a different simple alternative?
im honestly fascinated by how much of a priority sony put for cooling. those heatsinks are almost as big as graphics cards, AND they are using liquid metal to cool the cpu and gpu. they really did a great job.

I found carpet beetle larvae (AKA carpet worms) inside one at work once.. they’re harmless to people but CAN start eating through the internal cables. Also extremely annoying to get rid of. No idea how the guy had them in his console unless he actually had it set up on the floor.
Yep. Those are cockroaches. The worst kind…they love to get into electronics and short things out. A lot of people don’t realize this, but they are a fire hazard because of this. And all it takes to prevent them is not leaving food and water out, and some occasional light cleaning. A word of caution, if I was you, I wouldn’t take something like that for cleaning anymore, personally. The eggs those things lay are impervious to almost everything. In order to get rid of them, you have to let them hatch out of their eggs every 2 weeks and poison them before they have a chance to lay eggs. Usually, it takes 3 waves, 2 weeks apart.
quick question: is it better to keep your ps5 on the stand that he comes with (verticaly) or keep it orizontaly like you had it in the end ? I am asking because of that liquid paste, will it flow if you keep it verticaly on that stand? i curently have it on the stand verticaly!

Great job!
This is my first time watching your channel and I gotta say that I love when things are done correctly!! Amazing job!!
At 0:55 how do you stick that part back on if the glue comes off? Is it necessary to put it back on??
I can’t even imagine in my worst nightmares what the house this console came out of looks like.
yeah my old ps4 was like this, it sucks having roaches we balm once every 6 months but if you neighbor has roaches you aslo will
@@crazysailer5350I’m sorry to hear that. I hope that this will be resolved 🙏
Exactly, Why even invest a lot of money to let the house destroy it. The owner probably fat as well. Clean and you'll have nice things forever.
How much does this cost seems likecitbwould be easier to buy a new one
@@100Bucks did you have to put that fat part in goddamn 💀
From the south (Texas) we call them roaches/cockroaches
Buddy watching you put that back together was so peaceful and mesmerizing good job man
We don't have roaches in the UK.
Didn't realise they would smell.
Always makes me think what the house must be like where things like this come from 😢
yeah my old ps4 was like this, it sucks having roaches we balm once every 6 months but if you neighbor has roaches you aslo will
Reminds me of my 1st place…had some paper plates on top of refrigerator and one evening i reached for 1 and knocked them over….the amount of roaches was unbelievable…after that the wife and i went to store and removed everything from kitchen and sprayed everything after that we never seen them again as we moved 3 months later
The rust was gone, but there are just markings left where the rust was 😂
It's working perfectly ! Same for my N64 ! My family used to put alcohol-based parfum in there. Bad idea if you ask me
Oh yeah and, they had tiny bugs in them, like, worms, IDK how it's possible but, hey 😂

Voided warrenty....
Can using a vacuum hose without opening the console clean the dust out
Unfortunately it can cling to the surfaces, so you will have to really get in therr
That was so satisfying. I used to clean controllers and keyboards in my off time at my old job, and this made me miss how zen that whole process made me feel.
Imagine how much time the factory has to build one PlayStation..it’s soo detail and it’s also crazy how the bugs get soo deep into the PlayStation
What kind of tools u need to open up the fan?
Bro really just cleaned Asmongold's PS5 💀
This is literally so gross. lol. I came over here from Steve’s channel cuz I just had to see this nasty thing cleaned. I don’t really have a soft stomach, but this one made it turn a little bit. Kudos for the patience and willingness to clean off the bug “cement”.
Wow! The inside of the disc drive looks waaay better. Actually, everything looks amazing after the cleanup! Well done!
Hey I have a ps5 that was struck by lightning is there anyway I can get you to fix it ?
What a very enjoyable and relaxing video. Thank you Robert and nicely done!
Pls share link of that vaccume cleaner thanks in advance
That was a good one. Loving the Collab between you and Tronix. You definitely got the full experience 😂
Like the videos. I notice the comments about the magic eraser scuffing the plastic. Have you considered applying some Automotive plastic polish at the end? Many brands can be applied by hand without a buffer. They are used to repair the gloss sheen on trim.
I'll have to check in to this. Thanks for the comment
We have that too, it's by eagle one wadding polish
It blows my mind that I literally can't imagine the person who is able to afford a ps5 but also lives in such nasty conditions!
i think i can speak on his behalf, my old ps4 looked like this(dead roaches every where) but give people like him the benefit of the doubt. if his story is the same as mine we live in apartments and well if your neighbor has roaches so do you
Yeah i used to live in apartment with disgusting neighbors. It was a constant battle to keep them from infesting our apartment as well. As soon as we moved, no problems with roaches.
@@crazysailer5350move out you can do better in life stop being so comfortable
Hi what vacuum was that u used to vacuum out the system
Pretty fuckin nuts how difficult they make it to actually clean these things. I've had mine for 2 years and I'd love to clean it but this looks like a nightmare
it's really not that bad.
Usually they aren’t supposed to be this bad
Yeah without a vid like this I’d be second guessing every decision
Lol, great/horrible story!
That's literally horrifying
Came here from Steve's channel and I'm always looking for channels like this. Well worth the sub here after seeing the transformation of that nasty PS5.
Would love to see you reacting to them fake videos where they clean stuff up and fix it.
Up
Those videos are so ridiculous!
Can you please tell me what kind of handheld vacuum you are using and where to buy it
dang dude. You deserve WAAAAAY more subs that 9k. I just cant believe how many wires and screws you're taking out and still knowing where to put them!
That's disgusting 😂 nice job on this one.
Thanks!
Can you reach the heat sinks from the otherside without breaking the thermal bond with the motherboard?
You really deserve this console Steve really set you up with them bugs 😂
This is always my favorite part of the repair process, it's just so satisfying. I'm not sure which is worse, a machine from a smoker or bugs. They're both nasty! Goo Gone helps dissolve a surprising array of disgusting substances btw, along with bathroom/kitchen cleaning sprays.
I guess you'd much prefer dead bug bodies than some.... old tobacco smell?
@@EpicBunty I did say I wasn't sure which is worse. They're both frikkin horrible.
For me the smoker console would be worse. Absolutely kill my asthma
Imagine what the house looked like 🤮🤮🤮
Fr ew 😭😭
How was the smell after cleaning? I ask because often times no amount of cleaning eliminates the smell completely. It seems to have entered the plastic parts or something.
I don't notice any lingering odor on this one
Cant imagine how someone can let something get so bad. If this is how bad the inside of the ps5 looks, imagine how bad the house and everything thing else in that house is. And someone LIVES there in that filth!!
What model black and decker vacuum cleaner is being used here?
If you have roaches in your PS5, that speaks more to how you’re living. Like wtf 😂
Probably from a drug dealers house....
4:19 what tweezers are those?
After all that grossy mess you had to go through I would have to say yes. You may keep the PS5 my friend. 😁👍
So for that middle gloss strip from the PS5(where the power and eject buttons are) do you have to disassemble the PS5 or is there a different simple alternative?
Still beats owning a clean xbox
Lol
Also beats being able to play PS3 games in 720 30fps
I'm so intrigued, how do you get to a point where you just know how to disassemble and reassemble every single thing? It's so cool to me
im honestly fascinated by how much of a priority sony put for cooling. those heatsinks are almost as big as graphics cards, AND they are using liquid metal to cool the cpu and gpu. they really did a great job.
My power supply keeps overheating and shutting off the system…any suggestions?
Do we have to put the the screws back in their exact spot or just match the symbols with the screws that have the same symbol?
Dude. Your video was amazing. It's show how the professional work. ❤
Oh, at first, I thought, Mr. Steve will do all the work then he mention that will give it to you. And, I am entertained and also gain some knowledge from your video.
So, thank you so much, for both of you
Definitely give it to you after the hard work if cleaning that v. gross bug debris! I like the fact you don't seem to skip as many of the tear down steps as TronicsFix does ;-)
How much to clean mine and where do I send it?
Will u plz reach out to me im trying to clean mine with same results but I don’t wanna take it apart myself would u do it for a price
Great and satisfying. Any chance of a Timer on the video to show how many hours you worked on this?
I'll think about that. Filming slows me down a ton though, so it wouldn't be a very accurate measurement of how long a project like this typically takes.
@@RestorishOfficial Granted, I understand takes you a long time, but a stop watch or something. Pause when doing the angle changes. I am sure editing the video takes forever as well.
Wish know how to and had the equipment to be able deep clean do all for my ps5 it has alot dust i doing all i can for it keep it clean as possible and not really have money to do so
Do I need to change the thermal pads?
I found carpet beetle larvae (AKA carpet worms) inside one at work once.. they’re harmless to people but CAN start eating through the internal cables. Also extremely annoying to get rid of. No idea how the guy had them in his console unless he actually had it set up on the floor.
Do you recommend keeping the console laying on it's side, in order to prevent the liquid metal from flowing down?
Robert what's that blue and silver container where he was pumping before you started wiping with a q-tip onto the mother board?
Hi! Where did you get the mini vacum? I am looking for a good one for a realy long time now
Where the fuck are ppl living to have their console in that condition?
Yes I work for Orkin pest control they are German roaches they love any heat source and also like the kitchen area and bathrooms as well (kitchen because of heat sources and food, bathrooms for moisture areas)
Really nice cleaning video. Gained a sub from me. I came here from Tronicsfix. I will suggest cleaning the inside of that power supply off camera though. Having dealt with cockroaches before in electronics, that's one of their favorite places to hang out and that smell is going to linger in there and be amplified when the ps5 is turned on until its taken apart and cleaned.
having your console this dirty should be a punishable crime by the Law 😢
and whoever managed clean it should be a national hero
What is the hoover used please thank you
