Also, worth noting, is that several gaming test websites have tested these three fans against eachother, just to find out that the Nidec actually cools the best, of those three fans.
Yeah, the overall console is quiet. But startup of games and stuff is obviously gonna be a little bit more noisy because of the disc spinning. After 30 seconds or so it's back to nice and quiet.
I guess it just depends on the person whether they prefer the fan that helps the airflow of the PS5 better, and it being bit louder. Or the quieter fan that doesn’t push the air as well. All in all in my personal opinion I feel the “louder” fan really isn’t that loud, and the quieter fan although quieter still gives the PS5 airflow almost or just as good as the Nidek.
Unless you are in very close proximity to the system with no other sounds around, you will rarely hear any fan noise. The only noise you will typically hear is from the disc drive spinning up & this lasts perhaps 30 seconds at most.

He calls this a "tip" ?? this problem with the fans came out already in the beginning when the PS5 came on the market… it's history but he thinks it's something new he shows.
Based on user experiments, I've read that the NMB fan offers marginally better cooling due to the blade design. However, I have not read anything that 100% confirms that
Since they're all made to a specific manufacturing spec with certain tolerances in mind, none of them will perform much better than the other, and if anything, one may cool the system better by a degree or two. In the real world, this difference will not affect the operation and longevity of the system.
If you had it for a long time there really isn't much you can do with age even consoles and electronics in general don't work as well as they used to when they were new

It may be less noisy but is it cooling as efficiently as the louder fan? Noise isn't an issue for me personally but bad cooling is. I wear headphones and keep a box fan running almost all the time, blowing cool air from the vent towards my desk where the PS5 lives. I recently tore mine all the way down to the PSU for a dust out, she's got the Nidec!
This is awesome. I recommend powering it on to check the fan works, _before_ reinstalling the screws and cover plate - otherwise you risk doubling your work if you find out the plug was not seated correctly!
I'll wait and see once I get my PS5 which fan I have. My question is which fans cools the PS5 the best? I couldn't care less how loud it is. I'm used to using gaming computers with 4-8 fans, so not a big deal for me. I even thought about using a Noctua or Be quiet Fan to move more air in and out of the PS5.
Seriously compared to last gen even the loudest variant is a blessing. This is a bit exaggerated but I guess the option is there for those who want it.
I just don’t understand how manufactures make faulty products when they have been manufacturing for years and years. Do they not learn nor do hours and hours of testing before they release products
I wouldn't say it's faulty, just louder. It's still doing its job. But since demand is more than quantity they're using what they can or what is cheaper to try and meet demands as best as they can
When I first got my PS5 months ago it was loud as'f with coil whine, but after they released some updates for games and the system it's quiet, like you can't hear a single sound whether it be digital, disc, PS5 game, etc.
Coil whine is something that can't be removed through software updates. However, in some cases coil whine can disappear after the component has been used for a while, which might be the case for your console!
I see so many comments about how good the quiet fan cools, airflow etc. In reality, since all fans were designed to cool the PS5 sufficiently (which they all do just fine) cooling and airflow considerations are void. Noise during play however is important and the Delta fan will provide the quietest result.
Trimming down a cheap light thin scouring pad and sandwiching between the fan and fan cover will filter dust extremely well without compromising air flow and can be cleaned regularly with little effort! And if you think this is not a good idea check the heatsinks right now and tell me you're pleased with what you find.
My ps5 model cfi-1200b bought today comes with the nidec version 3 fan, and I'm satisfied with the noise it makes while I'm playing, It doesn't distract me from the game, I rate the sound the fan makes as "acceptable", On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8 for silence, But since I am a demanding person, I am going to change the fan for one that is level 9 or 10 in terms of silence, But I repeat, I am not disappointed with the Nidec version 3 fan, it performs decently in relation to the noise it makes while I am playing, So don't be frustrated if you get a Nidec version 3 fan, everything will be fine 👍
good video. i think what would have made it better is comparing the temps with each fan. because i dont just want it quiet. i want low temps for the longevity of my hardware.
I actually use a usb fan that attaches to the back. It’s kind of noisy, but it keeps my console running significantly cooler. I have one of the newer models with the smaller heat sink. It gets pretty hot, heats up my bedroom a bit. The fan however helps.
I got a PS five digital edition and my consul and is running good but I save this video when the time comes I will buy myself a fan to customize and install it. I’m glad I saw this video
I think it also depends on how you have it. Horizontal or vertical. I think vertical is ideal. When I had it sideways. I would hear the disk drive every now and then
Idk. Switching from a PS4 that sounded like a jet engine and felt like I could bake cookies on it to a near silent fan (in comparison) that doesn’t have any major heat spots (at least with the games and time I’m playing)? I have zero complaints.
Can't hear the fan in the first place. But that's probably because I don't constantly sit right over it and putting my ear next to the vents. Like a normal person, I sit xx metres away and my sound system is loud enough to cancel out any fan noise. Same with my PC that has 6 120mm fans in them. Anyway, cool video and definitely worth the hassle if your fan is loud and is causing performance issues later on in its life cycle but otherwise I don't see the point. EDIT: I'm guessing I have the delta fan as I can't hear much at all when I'm right next to the console. Great tutorial video, thanks.

This is very informative I just wish you had the website links where we can purchase the fans.
It’s a waste cos the original stock fan is quieter than both that he showed 😂
hey dude can u give us a link on where to get the fan?
On eBay. Quite expansive tho, around $70 for a Delta fan
@@GamingHunden k thanks for telling me
Love how precise and simple your videos are, straight and to the point.
My question is does the quieter fan cool the system better or does it just spin slower. I really wouldn't care how loud it is because I care more about keeping it cool than how loud it is
I can’t find a single place selling the delta fan after looking around for over an hour. Any chance you can provide a link for where you got yours?
he does not show the other 2 disassembled PS5 that he aside, do not think he has bought the Delta fan there is nowhere to buy it. He calls this a "tip" ?? this problem with the fans came out already in the beginning when the PS5 came on the market… it's history but he thinks it's something new he shows.
the loudest one could be cooling the system better though
Amazing video, but which one make the system run colder?
Watch the video
Based on user experiments, I've read that the NMB fan offers marginally better cooling due to the blade design. However, I have not read anything that 100% confirms that
@@Igor767 He said colder, not quieter.
Since they're all made to a specific manufacturing spec with certain tolerances in mind, none of them will perform much better than the other, and if anything, one may cool the system better by a degree or two. In the real world, this difference will not affect the operation and longevity of the system.
Could you do one for the ps4 because I feel like mines doesnt run like it use to
Open it up and clean out the dust
@@Riothebeast. did that already

I would love to see actual noise measurements of both fans or datasheet noise levels of each fan at least
This channel seems to be very popular. You sure do have a lot of FANS!
Since I bought my ps5 I have never even heard the fan spinning. Crazy how quite it really is
Would the best cooling fan be more of a priority than noise?
The best airflow fan is NMB. Can hear some buzzing but it can be easily masked. Delta is quiet but doesn't use it's potential so bad airflow. NMB is a good in-between!
@@crimsonstuds1 the delta does not have bad airflow if anything it’s better than the other two as air is pulled in more efficiently form either side as there is no fins in the way it’s a blower fan design the reason it’s quieter it doesn’t have to spin as fast to dissipate the same volume of air
Definitely quieter, but I require proof that it runs cooler for better.
Nope! Everything have pros and cons sure the delta run really quiet but you'll notice that the temperature is much higher. The nidec fan is a little bit noisy but it gets the job done
@@zRAMpagerBby how do you know?
@@kevinkhaleel4477 i literally cleaned 2 ps4s yesterday (deep cleaning) well tbh by observation.. My friends ps4 have a delta fan which is really quiet compared to mine (nidec) but the temperature on my side is really low compared to his ps4
@@zRAMpagerBby but then how did you apply that to the ps5??
@@kevinkhaleel4477 did u even watch the video... As he mentioned the nidec one is loud so yeah smh
The Delta Variant won't give me Covid, Will it? Lol
I believe those three fans are from the three different OG PS5 models if you'll notice the fan blades are much different on every model the heatsinks on every model out of the three is way different as well you may want to make sure the fan blades even though it runs quieter move enough air across your heat sink
Me: watching this thinking “ wow interesting”
Also me: with no ps5 🥲
same🙂💔
ur first
Same
I must have the good fan on my PS5 Digital as I have no noise issues.
I don't have any noise issues with my PS5's cooling fan either, and I purchased the Disc version. The only noise I deal with is the disc drive when installing a game or (at times) when the drive ramps up to do what I would consider a license check.
Same son day one ps5 disc and day one series x here 0 issues both quiet as each other
Have the loud model, play with headphones, doesn’t really bother me
I was going to say this. I always have headphones on so I don't hear any console noise. lol
3:55 Is he okay?
He always does that, lol!
Every single one of his videos
i do love how sony made the ps5 easy to mod and change to what you like. I know gaming pcs can already do this but its nice on a console I wonder if they will have official upgrades that you can buy for it later that would be amazing so your ps5 can stay up to date to the best of there abilities
Never had an issue with my day one ps5 as really quite any way, all though this may be helpful for others I'm pretty sure it'll Void the warranty
Na won't void the warranty as the fan is not under the warranty sticker
It may be less noisy but is it cooling as efficiently as the louder fan? Noise isn't an issue for me personally but bad cooling is. I wear headphones and keep a box fan running almost all the time, blowing cool air from the vent towards my desk where the PS5 lives. I recently tore mine all the way down to the PSU for a dust out, she's got the Nidec!
I can’t wait to start binge watching these vids once I get a ps5 🤣
This is awesome. I recommend powering it on to check the fan works, _before_ reinstalling the screws and cover plate - otherwise you risk doubling your work if you find out the plug was not seated correctly!
I have NO complaints with my PS5's noise. Very quite. I guess I have the Delta vers, but good to know if it comes up.
I don’t have a problem with that, I have a problem with getting the whole ps5 in general 😭
I got two from Walmart today. Just follow that guy on Twitter.
so am I
@@WheeledHamster I don’t have twitter and follow who? Bro ima work 4 days to get it, is there digital versions?

took my words, bro. Total unnecessary upgrade/video
like 3.2 usb's I cant wait
I'm glad they made it easier to take it apart to clean. That was one of my gripes with the ps4 fan.
This video made me open up the console just to check the fan, and I'm lucky to have the Delta variant already :)
Same here 😁😁
Seriously compared to last gen even the loudest variant is a blessing.
But since demand is more than quantity they're using what they can or what is cheaper to try and meet demands as best as they can
once upon a time, companies spend time and money to do thorough testing. now, the consumers are beta testers.
When I first got my PS5 months ago it was loud as'f with coil whine, but after they released some updates for games and the system it's quiet, like you can't hear a single sound whether it be digital, disc, PS5 game, etc.
That’s good to hear
Coil whine is something that can't be removed through software updates.
However, in some cases coil whine can disappear after the component has been used for a while, which might be the case for your console!
Yeah, I almost went back to PS4 because it was so bad, but now it's quiet and doesn't get on my nerves. 😂
@@smurfeeNn whats coil whine
Does this operation void the warranty?
This is one of the best instructional videos that I've seen on youtube since I found youtube back in 2010. Thank you.
Switch fan to make it quieter?
Me: Wait, yours makes SOUND?!
God bless to the 1% who see this comment……
What's youre tool kit called I wana buy one like that 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I see so many comments about how good the quiet fan cools, airflow etc.
In reality, since all fans were designed to cool the PS5 sufficiently (which they all do just fine) cooling and airflow considerations are void. Noise during play however is important and the Delta fan will provide the quietest result.
I experimented with rubber O rings. It's the vibrations of the screws touching the metal that made the noise.
Where's the comments stating that their PS5 is quiet because they don't have one??
I got the revised model but have zero complaints besides the mechanical disk drive which can't be helped and isn't an issue.
Mines quiet and have no complaints but thanks for showing us how easy it is to replace the fan
good video. i think what would have made it better is comparing the temps with each fan. because i dont just want it quiet. i want low temps for the longevity of my hardware.
For someone that doesn't care about the sound which fan would be better for optimal Cooling?
I have the nidec fan and mine runs quieter than yours… So I won’t need to change it. But thanks 🙏🏻
I think it also depends on how you have it. Horizontal or vertical. I think vertical is ideal. When I had it sideways. I would hear the disk drive every now and then
I've had my ps5 for a year, just recently started having loud coil whine, plays fine, no issues, just annoying coil whine
Idk. Switching from a PS4 that sounded like a jet engine and felt like I could bake cookies on it to a near silent fan (in comparison) that doesn’t have any major heat spots (at least with the games and time I’m playing)? I have zero complaints.
i got a Delta in mine, works perfectly and it is super quiet from the beginning.
I have the delta fan by default, so it's good to know that it runs the quietest, if nothing else.
I haven't gotten a PS5 yet but now your video left left me with a question which one cools the PlayStation 5 better
Imagine doing all that then finding out it’s the disc drive that’s making all the noise 😂
The disc drive is the noisy part. When that thing spools up it is obnoxiously loud, then goes back down since its basically for show now.
Awesome. Nice to know replacing the fan is so simple.
Can you make a video on PS5 face plates with cooling? Is it worth buying?
Great video as always but you forgot about option 4....turn the volume up
Does anyone else experience incredibly slow download times? I know it may be my intent but it's allows for decent download speeds for big files on my laptop.
I've been online trying to find a delta replacement fan! Can you put a link below to let us now where you purchased yours from? Any help would be appreciated...👍👍👍👍
I don’t wanna take off the cover because I feel like I’m going to break it.
