- In this video I head to my cabin after three weeks of accumulated snowfall. Using my MONSTER SNOWBLOWER, I clear it with relative ease. I won't mislead you, it was difficult, but I managed to work through it and within an hour and twenty minutes I was all done!!
Yardman 13 hp (Tecumseh)
45" cut
4 wheels for traction
6 speeds forward, 2 speeds reverse
power (assisted) steering
Thanks for watching

That's one happy dog!
Vito Furio yes she sure is!!! She goes with me wherever I go and she keeps on to go more!! Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment
What a beautiful dog. It looked like it was having a great time running around playing follow the leader. lol
Yes she certainly enjoys herself whenever she’s outside. She’s an Australian Shepherd and the cold temps here in Labrador don’t seem to bother her in the least. All she wants is to stay outside and play/follow the leader lol. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
my golden retriever, blue heeler, and pekingese love running around like idiots in fresh snow. Dont ya love em
@@tomschweikert9537 lol yeah my red healer seemed to like it as well and as for loving him.......... Yeah, MOST of the time 🤣 if you have a Cattle dog you know exactly what I mean lol
Appreciate the fact your well-trained dog stays behind you when you are operating this machine!
Given the fact that we have 6 months of snow and she sees me using the blower for hours and hours over these months, she is “snow-blower aware” lol 👍
Atta boy, I see you scolding your pup walking in front of blower... Nice vid...
Here in the greater Vancouver area we don't get much snow in the mainland. Soo love watching these video's. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome! ThAnks for tuning in from the other side of our country👍
From a sno-thro vid addict; this video satisfies! Thank-you for sharing your time. Please send more. Greetings from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield
Greetings to you sir in my neighbouring Province 👍
That's quite a machine. Some commenters talk about a need for more power but c'mon guys. It's three weeks of snow and an unusual situation. Monster stepped up and handled the job. I'm sure it's more than enough machine for his more typical uses.
We get a massive amount of snow here each year (6-7 months). Certainly holding its own at this point 👍
Wow ! Awesome machine ! But I have to say, what a great partner you have there ....... keeping you safe...
Thanks Ralph
Duel wheels are impressive but chains would make it double the machine.
Exactly chains are a must
Thanks for sharing your experience your dog and snowblower! An man that scenery was off the charts!
Thanks. I appreciate the comment. I do love where I live too and never take a moment for granted. It’s nice to hear someone else mention it. Thanks again.
Those dual wheels are a marketing buff, if you need traction you need narrow tires with smaller contact surface not wider ones. Yes they help a little bit for flotation but not traction. A trac driven blower is a better choice for traction on hard snow surfaces as well as loose snow. Then you can remove the snow in layers.. But an impressive machine none the less. Cute dog btw.
I’m sometimes amazed at how even the HUGE 240 ton haul trucks at our iron ore mine will a FULL LOAD on can spin the tires in the snow. Or a tractor trailer can’t make it up the simplest grade in winter sometimes. It seems unless some tread (or stud) can penetrate through the depth of the snow then it all seems virtually useless. It’s hard to imagine that but there it is hey. Tracks would definitely help out with my blower though for sure. Thanks for dropping a great comment!👍
Great video, your dog is cracking me up.
Kenny P yes she’s like a shadow to me pretty much lol. A great companion tho no doubt
Love the dog. She's having a fun day!
Everyone wants you to have a different snowblower. Or a plow or a front end loader .. or a flamethrower! I have 3 snowblowers and am quite fond of them all - but what you have is great and very entertaining to watch. What a beast!
Bob Pritchard haha. This is UA-cam where everyone has the most wonderful opinion Lol. I actually love to read the comments and hear different perspectives. Keep them coming!!!! Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate it.
Tire chains for your snowblower would be a good idea.
I purchased our 33" MTD with 10hp Tecumseh in 1986 and it has served us well ever since. I've replaced a couple of drive belts, one friction wheel, and I had to permanently lock the differential after I finally shredded the gears. In Wisconsin we usually don't get more than 10" or 12" at a time on our 900' driveway and it still chews right through it. Alas, I turn 76 this year and am enjoying using it less and less. I will transition to either a truck or a UTV, but either way it will have another snow blower.
Fantastic comment sir. What a great testimony of the product. Sounds like you did your share of maintenance on it and kept it alive much longer than most. Very respectable that you still clear snow like you do, which also shows you must have conducted ample maintenance on yourself as well!! Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you watching
A motorcycle or snow mobile helmet does a fantastic job of keeping the snow out of your face & your ears warm.
Yes good idea for sure as long as it didn’t steam up I guess?
I had this exact blower on a Cub Cadet 3184 (18hp)tractor. It would bog down in the crap at the end of the driveway. I kept the blower, and upgraded the tractor to a Cub Cadet 3235(25hp). The snow blower would no longer bog down, but it would literally blow the directional chute off the top of the blower- it was held together with plastic clips. MTD crap. If I had re-engineered the clips, the next weakest part would have broken. I fixed the problem by selling all my MTD crap, and going to a walk behind simplicity pro series. Now THIS is overbuilt!
Lol. Sounds like you’re a bit of a keen mechanic sir! Good stuff👍
Hi. Great video. I would be interested in seeing some night snow blowing to see how well the added LED lights light up your path. Nice dog. Looked like she was having just as much fun.
Keep up the great work.
Great idea. Night snowclearing. I’ve never been asked that before but will keep it in mind. Thanks for watching
Ya. Beautiful pup. I see a tractor with blower in the next video. Lol.
I wish!!!! Lol 👍👍
I've got a 20 horse kawasaki that would make that thing unstoppable!
Man that's beast. Looks like it fights ya little bit. Throw some chains on it lol great sounding blower
I envy you owning a northern cabin. Imagine the perch and walleye in that lake ? I could imagine a few caught, cleaned and fried for my belly.
No perch or walleye in Labrador unfortunately. Plenty of lake trout, brook trout and pike though. 👍
I had the same snowblower for many years with no problems at all. I sold it and really regret getting rid of it. It's a great snowblower. The key is take care of it and it take care of you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely. Maintenance is he key for sure 👍
and also replace the cheap bushings and bearings as they blow out one by one correct? Outleast you can get aftermarket bushings of higher quality since the company that made these used the cheapest possible..
Great post Chuck 🌨️👋👍👍👍
Thanks Steven. Appreciate it 👍
My neighbor has one of those, I always appreciate it when he makes a run with it up and down both sides of our street clearing both sidewalks in one pass each way. He owns an apartment building up the street, and he does the sidewalks up from his house to the apartments then does the parking lot with it, then comes back on my side of the street, then completes the circuit back to his house. He clears around the fire plugs and leaves a couple spots for us neighbors with little dogs to have a place to go in the deep snow, haha. Then I go around with my single stage and clean up after he's done:-).
I just love that beautiful dog... She looks so happy to help you out.
Yes she is definitely my sidekick. I just spent a week on the bush and she was right there along side me the whole time. She loves the outdoors
9:26 Nice to see someone seriously committed to "getting the job done". Looks to me like you seriously utilized most everyone of those 13 horsepower. Your keeping the auger loaded and the chute delivering, and calculating to only handle the snow once, rather than carelessly handling the snow over and over again. Fits the phrase, "If ya wanna get a job done, give it to someone that's really busy, they'll not waste time or money or scarce resources. They will figure out, and experiment, how to best utilize and optimize because they can't afford to do otherwise." Live life with gusto, not fear and squandering, of husky equipment.
Thanks for the nice comment. Not sure if I’m that efficient but the snow blower does work great I must say👍
Thanks for the nice comment. Not sure if I’m that efficient but the snow blower does work great I must say👍
From what I saw, You're like me motivated and committed, where as other videos I've seen are "so lame", so ineffective, a bit like the Dunning-Kruger Effect, too stupid to know how inept they are. Frustrating!!!
Looks like it needs a couple lower gears and more hp to prevent it from bogging down
Just give it more power.... That always works. Though mine is essentially the same thing but in 36" with a 14hpmotor (in reality it can be considered the same as Monster). And 14 hp for that seems to be more than enough for anything i have had here, if not overkill. The extra couple inches seems to really work it hard.
I live in northern MN and I have the same machine, but is a 33" 13HP White Snow Boss 1350W that is out of business now... but it came in the 45" model with duals also; so I have the same frame, engine, transmission, sans dual wheels and 45" cut, just in a smaller package and it has served me well since new in 2001. Haven't even broke a shear pin yet. I never use chains as to not break other parts... I'd rather spin the tires than break something. Mine has 'power steering' and a 16" impeller and the wide mouthed 6" chute. It is a beast. Nice video!
I'm so surprised at how many people from all parts of the world have snow this year!! Thanks for the comment sir!!
Now that's a man's snowblower!
Great Machine 👍👍. Vinny 🇺🇸
I've got the same thing in Cub Cadet version. Used for about 15 seasons. Bought mine used and was modified with some water pipe bolted to each side and has four 5lb dumbbell weights at back
Adds traction & makes lifting front easier. I load mind into truck just like you. Your dog loves it.
Excellent!! I’ve had other viewers mentioned the cub cadet version as well. I like the weight idea you mentioned. Thanks for the comment👍
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors Ya. They're all made by MTD. They own a lot of brands. But pretty sure these 45" are discontinued.
I like the pup riding shotgun... I have an excursion, the back seat removed, middle folded down, so my 2 boxers are almost in front... They have a huge area to roam in back... Nice vid
Looks like a beautiful place. I’m jealous!
It is a great spot but maybe I’m a little bias! lol. Another huge storm this morning here so I’ll be out using the snowblower again today!
Year 2 of watching this lol love your dog
When I lived in Maine I had a snow blower and I did a whole road like that for a couple years it was pretty tough.
That's up monster snow blower and a beautiful dog you got.
I finally got a tractor and I had a dog and I had to get him boots and a jacket cuz he had to be out with me day or night moving snow. 👍👀❤️
It doesn't get any better than that a cabin a truck a snowblower 👍
Tks bud👍
I got the TroyBilt version in 2013 and still going strong and even do a 1/4 acre gravel lot , added a set of quick disconnect wheels for spacers to front so it don't eat any stones.
You've got the right tool for the job. A walk behind snowblower especially one of that size makes short work of it. My favorite thing about snowblowers is how they leave no banks like a plow. A plow on a truck would have made a big mess of that job and probably taken more time.
Great job ..lots of snow.
Yes sir. In Labrador, you can count on it!!
Sounded like you were making the equipment groan a bit. Need to use a lower gear and let the rpms do the work. Otherwise, nice piece of equipment. Thanks for sharing 👍
What a beast of a snowblower! Over an hour isn’t too bad given how much snow needed to be cleared. The 4 wheel drive is cool but some chains I think would provide a bit better traction on hard packed snow or ice.
its different to operarate , i have the cub cadet version and u cant muscle it around you have to use the brake system to steer it!
I have this same Machine / LOVE - IT. Just feather-it and let it "eat" at it's own pace / amid NOT forcing ANYTHING, and it will perform flawlessly. In it's lowest range (or gear), just finger the propulsion lever, and the auger's will "draw it" in at it's most comfortable "throw" pace ... GREAT CLIP !.
Thanks tommy! Nice to hear from a fellow ‘monster’ owner lol!!! Thanks for tuning in 👍
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors ALL my best Chuck ! ... *SEND US SOME SNOW* !!! TOTALS: (in MI.) "none so far" :- (
I put chains on my blower. Makes it so much easier. Awesome video
Thanks. I’m gonna try and make the chains work. Only issue I have to overcome is the fact the two wheels (on each side) are positioned really close together. Maybe too close to fit the chains on each tire individually. Have a couple ideas up in my head though. Thanks for watching.
Those Yardman with the 16" 4-blade impeller through snow much farther than their 12" 3-blade counterpart. I had the 30" 2 wheels of the same heavy duty lines yours is from. My dad had the regular version with the same engine, but 12" impeller, it didn't throw snow at all.
I’ve gotta 28 inch wide I have a little lawn service but do some driveways in the winter I’d be done FAST WITH THAT machine!
Great rigs if it's not blowing, I have the same size, they can move a lot of snow in a hurry. Never knew how to swear until I bought a blower. Lol. Take care.
Cool video; thanks for sharing! Nice spot, great dog, a nice cabin ( and yes, a monster snowblower). That cabin spot with a woodburning stove would be phenomenal!
Yes sir! It has a wood stove and we use it all winter long. Absolutely love it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 👍
Great job.
Was cute when your dog went sprinting down the path and took a leap into the snow bank. Lol
Haha. She’s always a rear source of entertainment lol. I often times don’t see all that she does u til I stay editing and watching the raw footage. Thanks for tuning in!👍
Makes me appreciate my 46 blower on my mower. It's got a 20hp v twin and I've only push about 6 inches so far. Just bought it last summer for a steal. So I've been begging for some more snow lol
Absolutely lol. Start praying to the snow gods 👍
That machine is a beast, maybe some chains??
I just picked up a 45 inch used one. I was debating between a tractor and this. I'll use this for now, the tractors are too expensive.
Your moving the kind of snow that some small lawn tractors might not !
Wayne York we have snow 6-7 months of the year up here in Labrador (North Eastern Canada) so I have loads of time to practice! Lol. Thanks for watching.
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors I was going to ask where you live that warrants such a large snowblower. I now completely understand your situation given your location.
bwillan northeastern Canada. North of 54 degrees latitude. At least 6 months of winter here so a good snowblower is essential
Them light's would drive me nuts at night.
The dog was the star of the show!
Snowblower was nice too.
Tire chains maybe?
Looking into it. Little hurdle is the fact that two tires are so close together I would have to have a set of chains that would be big enough to spread over two tires at once. My dog, however, has no problem getting around at all!! Lol. Thanks for the comment
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
Lol - dual tire chains would look so macho! 👍
Tire chains might be a worthwhile addition.
Wow that thing is a monster. I have seen and used lots of snowblowers but that is insane
It works really well and suits my large driveway...and our 6 months of snow lol. Thanks for tuning in!👍
Wow that's a lot of snow compared to what I'm used to. Did a good job.
Better than a shovel. Neater than a plow. Honda and Yamaha popular out this way. Amount of snow very similar snow settled last week with mild temps.
Harry Worthman nicely put! Honda and Yamaha my favourite as well, however couldn’t get the wide cut and the price within the budget.
Very impressive snowblower! I have to check out Yardman brand again! I only knew then for cheap lawnmowers.
Thirteen years old and still working like a charm. It’s winter time here again in Labrador as so I just changed the oil and did a little service to it and it’s ready to roll again!👍
The only thing you lacked were snow chains.
I have Cub Cadet version of that. I made a sulky for it. Use a lower gear it will not want to climb up the snow then let the machine do the work. And heated handle grips are worth the money but definitely add an on/off switch they make it hot quick.
You definitely need a bigger snow blower like the one attached to a tractor
I have since upgraded just this winter👍
Yes that is a monster
Id try and find a 25 hp v twin kawasaki and swap motors. That thing would be nuts then.
Chains would do wonders for that.
Snow blower works great! Mine is 6HP with a 24" width (I will never go below 28" again) and mine does bog down like yours. I go a gear/speed slower so the auger has time to chew the snow and the impeller has time to spit it out.
AutoCrete normally our snow here is very powdery as we have such a cold climate. However, if you don’t get it right away it tends to stiffen up for sure. Fun either way!!
a job well done !!! love that happy puppy playing in the snow made the video so much more exciting to see him
That machine should had came with tracks for its size. Cool place!
Yes would absolutely love to try tracks on it. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment
Sounds like a fellow Newfoundlander here!
Absolutely!! Born and bred👍👍
I have the exact same machine as you do but 33" wide and single wheels. Same 13 hp motor and 16" impeller. I purchased it back in 1997 and it still looks brand new. The only maintenance that I have needed to do besides oil changes are belts and lubrication. I also installed the impeller modification 2 seasons ago and it does the EOD with zero clogs. At first I was skeptical about doing the mod, but it really does work. Could help on those crusty bottom layers that make the the motor struggle.
Great suggestion. Thanks very much
Chains would make a BIG difference!
Gonna give it a try if I can find some that fit over the two tires (in each side) at once
My neighbour had one of those. Just too a wide a cut for that size engine. He was constantly fixing it and got rid of it. You have to put more work in using it than a regular sized blower, constantly pushing it and keeping it on track.
Yes the smaller the snowblower the less you bust your ass.
I have the 33” version of that (same engine, only 2 tires). Thing is a beast in snow
Noah Chiasson would love to see a video of yours!! 👍
PRETTY KOOL VIDEO HERE
( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Chuck ......
I like my Murray 8.00/24 I bought it new in 2009. It's a heavy tank. The snow intek is a beast. Though these days I covent the simplicity line. Besides Briggs them selves simplicity is the only company offering non Comercial units with Briggs and Stratton engines. A local dealer is advertising a new 24" with an 1150 Snow Series for 850$(us) . That thing has to be a beast! My thoughts of late revolve around either finding a 10 year old Toro with the factory snow intek or repowering a 421 or 521 with either the Murray's 800 snow intek or an ebay Briggs 950 snow series. I thought my Murray was the final word until work got a used 521. That thing is a joy, so light, so maneuverable of course the tired old Tecumseh can usually only mange two things, starting and complaining. A snow intek would make that thing a joy forever. But alas it doesn't snow in Iowa anymore. The Murray's only been used twice a year for the past few.
Sounds like you know your engines!! Impressive!! Thanks for the comment. Interesting
The only thing this snowblower needs is more weight. and a slower speed. Dont forget the drift cutters too.
Thanks Ted for tuning in and leaving a comment 👍
yes By
lower gear and chains as udders have said..eh B'y
love it.
UDDERS‐------‐---OTHERS
Cool video! Some snow chains might have help a bit next time.
Would have to find a set that would wrap around both tires at once....as they are too close together to wrap individually
He needs one of those snowblowers with a V8 engine.
Best snowblower is a big engine with a small to medium bucket.
You'll have to make a couple more passes but they really go through the snow.
Yes. The Honda has a nice 32”. Expensive but I’d love to try it
You have one really cool doggy !!! I laughed out loud when he ran up and around you when you were clearing the porch !!! Great machine as well.
Thanks 👍
Nice blower. Seems a little underpowered.
Lovely spot. Cheers from Ottawa
Mike Martel cheers from Labrador
Good Concept. Not enough HP. Auger Gear not heavy duty enough. MTD taking those parts off the shelf and slapping them on to make a machine.
One suggestion to inhance the forward drive grip is to mount the tiers in reverse. They are now mounted just like a standrad tractor tire (ie the best grip is going backwards when stuck). This is a not applicable with a snow blower (it will always be easier going backwards).
First I've heard of that but think I'll give it a try as it does make a lot of sense!!! Also, removal of the tires is quite easy on this model so it wouldn't take a lot of effort to do that. The snow was quite hard that day and certainly presented a challenge. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for commenting!
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
How did this suggestion work for you?
Chains would make a large improvement on the traction. Had a Deere 30” with 13hp, chains on it made it a beast
Snow king makes great engines..thing didn’t hesitate at all!
It’s a 2006. I bought it used And now I’ve used it extensively in the past two winters. No issues at all. Works like a charm! Will soon post another video-season 3!!!
Nice cabin.
that's not a cabin ........its a shed
Thank you. My cabin is my place of sanctuary for sure. There’s been years when we’ve spent 3-4 months there woh my family. It’s completely off grid too so cheap to live and so peaceful.
I hope you have extra belts and friction discs for the heavy duty work you're doing with that machine. For that type of work a slower hydraulic drive unit would be awesome like a Honda hydrostatic. Good job though like I said it's not only the width that is impressive but you can only put so much through the impeller.
👍
You've got a lot of armchair snow blowers here telling you what you need to do or have to do or get.🙄 I think if you have a machine that you're happy with then ignore them. I use a lawn tractor mounted 42" snowblower that fits my needs but likely not yours.
The only opinion I would offer is I favor snowblowers over plows for residential use because it doesn't leave big ugly piles that take forever to melt. So to me you've made the right choice here.😀
Robert Goniea thanks for the comment. I actually really enjoying reading all the different perspectives lol. I used it again yesterday and it serves me really really well. Thanks for watching
Looks great but tire chains would increase traction. Even with 4 tires there was some spinning. I would count myself very fortunate to have the cabin.
You’re right Joe. I am very fortunate and I never take it for granted. Thanks for tuning in with a comment👍
Looks like a good Minnesnowdan at work
Ha. No I’m Canadian. Northeastern Canada actually. Labrador.
I bet the GMC gets pretty good traction with that monster in the back.
If your tires are spinning and the bucket is pointing upwards, you're in the wrong gear. It was sad to see you struggling against the out of control machine. Old saying still rings true, "Let the machine do the work".
Wish I would have had one of these this week after all the snow we got here in Cincinnati.
That snow storm almost hit us in western Pennsylvania, didn’t even get half a foot.
1:58 maybe "Full Strap Chains All Around" cuts down to ice and "grabs a-hold".
Yep gonna try the chains and update with another video in the future to compare. Thanks for watching.
I bought the exact snowblower but it was made by White and it was 18 years ago. It doesn't look like anything has changed, litterally, in 18 years except for the name. Still works like new but I always thought the engine was too small and should have been a 16-20hp.
Nitrous!
Actually impressive with a 13 HP Tecumseh 4 wheel drive. I thought they went out of business. I preferred them in the early 70's
I use mine for 7-8 months of the year...never a week when I'm not clearing snow at both my home and my cabin....so it certainly gets a lot of use!
Looks clumsy. Id never have one of those personally. Thanks for the video
Still working great. Will be using it again soon. Snow started today!!
Chuck Porter - Everything Outdoors please make a vid with it in deep fresh snow
Would love to see one of those with a track drive. Would be a tank
Absolutely!!! Would make it into a premium👍
