I lived in heavy snow country for a number of years (8+ ft. of snow in an average winter). I used a heavy duty 3-stage self-propelled walk-behind snow blower because my driveway was not long and there were places on my property to plow where a tractor-mounted snowblower would not fit. A couple of tips, no matter what size of snowblower one uses: 1. Keep an ample supply of shear pins on hand and know how to replace them. Particularly on graveled drives, etc., you will inevitably break shear pins sooner or later. I generally would go through a dozen to two dozen every winter. 2. To help prevent the chute from plugging with wet snow, regularly spraying the inside of the entire chute with WD-40 or even cooking spray can make snow less likely to stick in the chute. In semi-rural or rural snow country, I'm a big advocate of having a standby generator with an automatic transfer switch. We had a 9K watt unit because we had frequent power outages, some lasting 12-24 hrs. or more. Between that and a good wood stove, we were always safe and comfy during power outages, and we didn't have to worry about refrigerators, freezers, etc. not operating.

It does suck to move snow with the front loader, but in small amounts it can be done. Still want the snowblower, though, and enjoy watching it in action!

I am really impressed by how much snow you got, that is about ten years snow fall for us all at once. That looked like a really fun job to clear the snow and the snow blower worked great, much less fun not having any power.
The power came back around the time it was promised so that was a good thing. The BX did an amazing job as usual 👍🏻. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Joseph, all the best for 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻

You hit the jackpot! Send the snow to Southern Maine. That BX machine moves a lot of snow. Thank you for sharing! Are you forecasted to receive more snow?
Yes we hit the jackpot with this one, I check with FedEx see how much it would cost 😉😂😂. Nothing as big and maybe rain this Friday 😒…I hope not. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Jean, all the best for 2023 🙋🏼♂️👍🏻🎅🏻🎄🙂
Good morning Luc. Looks like you guys up north got hammered. Paul Pelosi would be jealous 🤣🤣🤣 Looks like we are in for it here over the weekend. Our Merry Christmas could turn into a “buried Christmas “.
Whoa baby! That was a good storm. Looks like the Kubota did a fantastic job. The little Toro put up a valiant effort, but alas...the little guy wasn't quite up to the task!
The BX was amazing as usual but I give the Toro another chance when we get a regular snowfall 😉😂. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Case, all the best for 2023 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🎄⛄️🎅🏻
It took 16hrs for ours to come back, now it looks like we will be getting rain this Friday 😒. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄🎅🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻⛄️
TIM from Canada, you must be new to snowblowing because the advantages of snow blowing is whatever side you were on you turn your blower and blow the snow on that side of your snowblower unless you have buildings in the way watching you blow the snow over top of your driveway is a no-no because if it stops all of that snow goes back on to your driveway… if you were blowing snow on the right side of your driveway and it is clear then you turn your blower to the right side of your driveway. If you were on the left side of your driveway then you turn your blower to the left side of your driveway you only turn the blower on your snowblower to the opposite side. If there is buildings something in the way, but generally the side you were on is the side you turn your blower on… that’s OK. You’re new one day you figure this out.
I guess you could say old man winter is here. We received about 12 inches or so. I was hoping you would do your whole driveway with your new tool. LOL. Your tractor and blower sure got a workout. THAT'S A LOT OF SNOW! More on the way I guess. Our snow was very wet and heavy, unfortunately. Take care
I think I’d still be at it if I kept going with the Toro 😂. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family John, all the best for 2023 🎄🎅🏻⛄️🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Hi Luc and thanks for sharing! Wow I cant believe how much more snow you received than us just an hour south. Heavy wet snow but the Kubota came through again! That would have taken a while with the power shovel lol. Take care, look forward to the next one.
We are a bit higher in altitude so sometimes Gatineau will get rain and we get snow 🤷🏼♂️. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, all the best in 2023 ⛄️🎄🎅🏻🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Wow! That is allot of snow. I am impressed at how well the BX with the snowblower powers right through that. I hope your power comes back on soon. Stay warm if you can! Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!
Nahhhhh, that`s not alot of snow. Not uncommon where i live to get hammered with 2 to 3 foot in a night from a storm. Heck Buffalo NY just got wacked with 4 to 5 feet in some places. I have a Kubota BX23s, handles it just fine. Some days when we get hit hard, just takes a little longer. Its winter, so winter is gonna do winter type stuff.
20 1/2 inches of snow!!! Man, that snowblower paid for itself in one outing!!! I did feel bad for that little Toro. Also, I laughed around the 20:25 mark...I though your hearing protection was prosthetic elf ears! (You can see where my head is at right now! 😂🤣⛄🎅🎄 Merry Christmas Luc.
“Did you ear that” 😉🤣🤣 reference the Elf movie 😂😂. Was I glad I had my Kubota 👍🏻. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Chris and all the best in 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸🥃⛄️
Great job, Luc! That was way more snow than I hope I’ll ever see! Yeah, that little electric snow blower wasn’t cut out for 20” of wet snow. But your Kubota and snow blower got it done! I have five words for you. The first two are “backup generator”. The last three are “move farther south”! Happy New Year!
That was a lot of snow, Luc. I think you got us by about 8 inches on average. That bx blower seems to rotate those augers much faster than my b series. I'm sure it's how it's meant to be with what they can dispurse for the sizes, but that is one great snow displacement machine. Loved how you still make your wife laugh running around out there like a kid. The grandkids are going to have a blast. 👍🏻
hey brother. Glad to see you back with another vid. Boy that was a humdinger amount of snow. The Bota BEAST lol handled it well. Always look forward to your vids man. I pray you and your bride are well and blessed. Heres wishing you a very merry christmas. God Bless. PS: Looking forward to your content.
No fair you got snow. We didt get deep snow we got 4 inches of snow. Really. I have a cub cadet 2x snow blower ready for snow. Michigan hasn't gone snow in years.
It’s actually Papo and Mamo 😉🙂. The BX did indeed earn it’s keep 👍🏻. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Mark, all the best in 2023 🎄🎅🏻⛄️🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🎄
Hi Richie, nice to hear from you 👍🏻. I hope you get some time off during the holidays. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, all the best in 2023 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🎅🏻
My 40 years of plowing snow thinks that using your back blade is much more work than just straight on blowing the snow into the woods. Maybe your just having some fun, but either way your Kubota setup is really quite efficient. Enjoy and Happy New Year
Nice job Luc. I’m near Buffalo and it does get very interesting when you get 3-6ft of heavy compacted snow in one storm. Doesn’t happen often but makes a guy happy to have quality equipment!
Thanks David 👍🏻, I couldn’t believe the amount of snow you guys got a few week’s ago, I ‘m sure you had fun. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, all the best in 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
I live between Oswego and Fulton, and we haven’t had more that 5 or 6 inches on the ground at any given time☹️. It’s all been going west to Buffalo and north to watertown and tug hill. Have a great day…
I bought a Generac Guardian 14kW generator with the automatic transfer switch about 7 years ago and I couldn't be happier. My Ariens Deluxe 28 snowblower removes excess snow to the left side of the bucket so I never take a full bite and leave some extra room on the left side of the bucket.
How is that tractor with no cab blowing snow? have you snow blow on a windy day. If I have a tractor and have a snowblower I think I would want a cab on my tractor I'm sure getting a tractor with a cab isn't cheap but I think it worth the money, just say. And look like tractor work real good in that deep snow
It does an excellent job 👍🏻. A cab here in Canada is $10K plus…😳. I’m not bothered that much when it’s windy, I cover myself pretty good plus I put on my snow goggles. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Thanks Wayne, I had to give up clearing it because we got a lot of wind lately and a lot of branches fell and then it snowed on top so I don’t want to risk damaging my blower by hitting a big branches 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
G'day Luc: we had a lot of snow over in Petawawa also. I have a motor on my chute. It moves the chute up and down. Helps when the wind is blowing, to keep the snow out of your face. Also have a generac generator, which makes life better when the power goes out. That happens a lot here. You have the propane tanks so it would be easy for the hook-up. The generator does my whole house and workshop. Take care and stay safe.
Those are a few items on my wishlist 😉😂. The generator is probably first on my list 🤞🏻. Sounds like you have a nice setup and workshop 😉👍🏻. Thanks for watching and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, all the best in 2023🎄🎅🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻⛄️
Wow you got just a little bit of snow there. Lol. That BX handled it like it was nothing. We are supposed to get hit with a hard storm tomorrow into Friday. We will see what happens! Nice job and merry Christmas!
I was initially thinking how fortunate you had a flat driveway as compared to the hill I've got. I use chains but watching you plowing slip with your tires I'm wondering if chains would be beneficial ?
I’ve thought about it I always get the job done without them, if I had a steeper hill I definitely would get a set. Thanks for watching Bill and have a great weekend 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Well I don’t have to worry about the white fluffy stuff but we’re supposed to drop to 10F on Friday. Last time we got this low was Feb 2021 Big TX Freeze. We had 2 pipes burst and flood the house then. We spent the weekend getting ready but not much we can do about pipes in the walls. I second the recommendation of putting a generator to work if you lose power to the house.
That must have been a mess 😒. I hope it doesn’t happen this time 🤞🏻. A generator is definitely on my list. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, all the best for 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Where are you located? I remember in the late 90's when Toronto called in the military because of a snow storm which really was not that bad. I was in Petawawa at that time.
Hey Luc looks like you got snow from the same storm we got. Pretty wet and heavy. One day when I grow up I will get a snow blower like you😂Thanks for the video Happy Holidays!!!😁👍🚜💨🎄🙋🏻♂
Great vid! I only got 4 inches out of that storm but you guys around that side of the lake got hammered pretty good. Instead of using my BX I used my Case D45 with 6ft blower because it was -11 and I wanted to get it over with. So my upload vid was fairly short. Keep those vids coming---there is something therapeutic about watching snow being relocated through the air from one place to another! 👌👍
I live at 6k feet here in CO and strangely we don't get much snow here anymore. Global warming or shift in the weather, I just get 1 or 2 snowstorms a year when I need my snowblower...
Nice video! Lots of snow! And the BX was a champ. I'm going to do my trails this week. Merry Christmas and will watch whatever you post :) great filming by your wife :) she should do more commentary :)
Salut Luc! beau travail de déneigement! Est-ce que l’absence de chaînes sur les roues cause un problème? et envisagez-vous l’ajout d’une cabine sur votre Kubota? Bon hiver!
I wish million dollar home 🤷🏼♂️ but good news I finally bought another generator so bring on the power outages I’m ready for it 👍🏻. Have a great weekend Bruce 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
we lost power about the same time as you, being heat pump run it was brutal, after dusting of the panels we only got 1kwh due to it still in the air, so thank god I kept the old log fireplace or we would have been in serious trouble, it took 36 hours before the utility could get to us to reconnect due to the roads, after the first night all the neighbours got together and discussed what to do as we were cut off and with drift mounds 6ft plus it was a daunting to say the least, in the end 50 of us got together with our tools and cleared a single lane in the road, the issue was we just couldn't put it anywhere there was just so much of it. After 7 hours we all needed a break. but at least the private contractors could then get to us to finnish rest of the drives, I would have loved to have had those attachments over my dual stage honda hand plow, its good but not for those conditions
The first report said around 15-25 cm under a foot, then it changed to 30-40 cm it ended with 52 cm - 20.5”. It was fun 😉🤣. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year B, all the best in 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂🍾
It’s a bit odd that you guys have gotten so much snow there and Dave@RCAFpolarexpress really hasn’t gotten much yet. Did you see where he came close to running over one his dogs? That would have devastated him for sure. We had such a mild fall and then suddenly, things drastically changed. We started getting freezing fog that coated all the trees. Our power lines were weighed down with ice but fortunately thawed off before power went out. I take it that you have gotten a generator by now.

How's she goin'? Wow Luc, you got a LOT of snow. What a way to start the plowing season eh. We had some flurries last night, maybe an inch or 2. They are speaking of snow this week so I may be out plowing soon too!! Merry Christmas to all you good folks and we'll talk to yas ...
Yes sir it was beaucoup de snow 😉😂. I hope you get more snow for Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and Nannie, all the best in 2023 and especially health 👍🏻. Be safe 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🎅🏻🎄⛄️
Paul Pelosi would be jealous 🤣🤣🤣
Looks like we are in for it here over the weekend. Our Merry Christmas could turn into a “buried Christmas “.
🤣🤣, yes we did get hammered but it didn’t hurt 🤣. Have a great week my friend 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Whoa baby! That was a good storm. Looks like the Kubota did a fantastic job. The little Toro put up a valiant effort, but alas...the little guy wasn't quite up to the task!
The BX was amazing as usual but I give the Toro another chance when we get a regular snowfall 😉😂. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Case, all the best for 2023 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻🎄⛄️🎅🏻
@@OrangeismyNewGreen You as well my friend. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Luc 🎊
We ended up getting 20" here in NH on that last one on Friday. Really heavy snow though and there's lots in town still without power.
Crazy snow! Love the blower! You can keep the power shovel though! 😂
😂 yeah it wasn’t really made for that. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
I guess you could say old man winter is here.
The BX impressed me also 👍🏻, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, all the best for 2023 Marty 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Ha! You think that was 3000$ worth of blowing?? I’m in the wrong business.
A little hyperbole between friends never hurt anyone...😉👍
Love the channel name! That's awesome!!!!
Thanks 👍🏻, have a great week 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Great job, Luc! That was way more snow than I hope I’ll ever see! Yeah, that little electric snow blower wasn’t cut out for 20” of wet snow. But your Kubota and snow blower got it done! I have five words for you. The first two are “backup generator”. The last three are “move farther south”! Happy New Year!
😂😂Good one Martin. Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
looks like a pretty good. dump of snow
It was a big one for us but fun 😉. Happy New Year 🎆🎊
César 🌨️🌨️🌨️🌨️❄️❄️❄️❄️☃️🌬️
That was a lot of snow, Luc. I think you got us by about 8 inches on average. That bx blower seems to rotate those augers much faster than my b series. I'm sure it's how it's meant to be with what they can dispurse for the sizes, but that is one great snow displacement machine. Loved how you still make your wife laugh running around out there like a kid. The grandkids are going to have a blast. 👍🏻
The BX was a beast 😳😉👍🏻. I agree, I think the grandkids will love it 👍🏻. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Dave, all the best in 2023 🎅🏻🎄⛄️🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
It’s been a while since I’ve seen that much snow in a single snowfall, good to know the BX can handle it! Great video, take care.
It sure can 👍🏻. Thanks for watching Kevin and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, ll the best in 2023 🎅🏻🎄🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻⛄️
What’s that white stuff? Haha. I haven’t seen that much snow cumulative in my life. Snow blower did a great job. Happy New Year.
We still have some white stuff but a lot melted in the last couple of days, mild and rainy days ☹️. Happy New Year Scott 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
hey brother. Glad to see you back with another vid. Boy that was a humdinger amount of snow. The Bota BEAST lol handled it well. Always look forward to your vids man. No fair you got snow. We didt get deep snow we got 4 inches of snow. Really. I have a cub cadet 2x snow blower ready for snow. Michigan hasn't gone snow in years.
I can pit in a good word for you and maybe you’ll get a good storm 😉😂. Thanks for watching Ryan and Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻

Enjoy and Happy New Year
I like trying things out and yes I’m having a lot of fun 😉🙂. Happy New Year as well Scott and thanks for watching 🙋🏼♂️👍🏻🙂

Looking good! Throw a set of chains on your rear wheels and you'll be shocked how much better traction you get.
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Is that blacktop surface? Why is it leaving snow covered where ur snow throwing with blower? Is it down all the way.
I’m on a gravel driveway and I like to try and keep a good base. Thanks for watching 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
That’s a great backup system you have 👍🏻, maybe one day…thanks for watching and have a great week 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻

Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
A big tractor might not fit where you made that little trail for the grand kids that was impressive !
Thanks for watching and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, all the best in 2023🎄🎅🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻⛄️
Très belle quantité de neige comme nous ici on ces amuser beaucoup à gratter
Oui beaucoup de plaisir 😉🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Wow you got just a little bit of snow there. Lol. That BX handled it like it was nothing. We are supposed to get hit with a hard storm tomorrow into Friday. We will see what happens! Nice job and merry Christmas!
The BX was amazing 👍🏻. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Justin, all the best for 2023 🎄🎅🏻⛄️🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Nice video! The hydraulics seem quite "jerky", is that normal?
I probably need to adjust the dial for the 3 point. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
@Orange is my New Green Snowblower up/down, and chute looked jerky as well.
@@anderleof I think when the RPMs are high it’s hard to make it go smooth.
I’m near Buckingham, QC. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Hey Luc looks like you got snow from the same storm we got. Pretty wet and heavy. One day when I grow up I will get a snow blower like you😂Thanks for the video Happy Holidays!!!😁👍🚜💨🎄🙋🏻♂
Maybe you could fabricated one 😉👍🏻. Happy Holidays my friend, all the best for 2023 🎅🏻🎄🍾🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Just subscribed, you have some nice looking deer videos 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year 🎆🎊 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
I live at 6k feet here in CO and strangely we don't get much snow here anymore. Global warming or shift in the weather, I just get 1 or 2 snowstorms a year when I need my snowblower...

Salut Luc! beau travail de déneigement!

It begs the question - why did you plow by the shed before blowing it?

we lost power about the same time as you, being heat pump run it was brutal, after dusting of the panels we only got 1kwh due to it still in the air, so thank god I kept the old log fireplace or we would have been in serious trouble, it took 36 hours before the utility could get to us to reconnect due to the roads, after the first night all the neighbours got together and discussed what to do as we were cut off and with drift mounds 6ft plus it was a daunting to say the least, in the end 50 of us got together with our tools and cleared a single lane in the road, the issue was we just couldn't put it anywhere there was just so much of it.
After 7 hours we all needed a break. but at least the private contractors could then get to us to finnish rest of the drives, I would have loved to have had those attachments over my dual stage honda hand plow, its good but not for those conditions
Wow that was a lot of work, I’m glad the contractor was able to finish the job. Those were big drifts 😳. Thanks for watching and stay safe 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
