Here's a Bell motorcycle helmet I painted with spray paints and a cheap airbrush I bought off Amazon to look like a weathered WW2 fighter plane with faux rivets and fake rust.

I’m back baby! Ha I took a quick 133 days off from posting any content but now I’m coming at you with a sweet commission job I got to do in a clients helmet. Enjoy! If you like painted motorcycle helmets here’s another one I did.ua-cam.com/video/bcY3RFN0EyM/v-deo.html
I'm glad to see you're back! Love your work! 💪
Nice to see you back
I really want to buy one. How much would you charge?
Man this sure is a nice helmet. Some lucky person is cruising So Cal wearing this gorgeous piece of art.
lol! How’s it holding up?
@@IronGordon it’s perfect. It has it’s own shelf and nice zip bag so it’s living the good life for sure.
Glad you‘re back posting videos again and thanks for letting us hang out with you!
Thanks for watching! Anytime haha
Spot on process , IMO.
I absolutely love that helmet!!! Excellent work!!! WOW!!!
This is amazing I love the weathering and panels you painted on it your work is amazing.
Thank you Joe!
Nice. You make it look so easy, with such a basic set of tools.
Welcome back brotha!! Great looking helmet!
Thanks Duncan! Congratulations on becoming a super famous youtuber! You're killing it
Good tip about the clear coat, so many times my paint reacted because I used it in a wrong way
Defiantly, it took my many failed projects to learn how to use the paint right HA!
Thanks for the motivation to take this on. Although not for me. I may be a 65 year old MX rider (Yamaha 250 with Athena Big Bore kit, yeah!)
i’ve had numerous failed attempt at being artistic throughout my life. My granddaughter, however!,,,She seems to get it, and with her birthday coming up this week I believe I will introduce her to airbrushing and your videos, and we’ll see what she can do with grandpa‘s MX helmet.😂
Sweet paint job! Really missed your videos. Glad to see you back dude!
Whats up Velo! Thanks for hanging in while i took a hiatus HA
Came across this while doing some research for my own custom helmet project - super helpful! And great work, love how it turned out!!
Awesome, thank you!
Nice job with 'DIY' tools! Glad to see you back my friend!
Thanks Clint! Yeah it’s been a hot minute haha
Definitely gonna try my hand at this, this weekend. I don't have a clue what I'm doing, but I have to learn. This video helped me💯🤟🏿
Dude i love your “painting helmet videos” please make more!
Hey man good work. One thing though I noticed on this and the other aluminum plane bit that you painted was that you made the rust brown. Aluminum rusts black. Look up smoking rivets and you’ll see that the rust is black and in the direction of air flow. I think it would make it a little more authentic but you still do amazing work.
Wow! That is one good looking helmet 👍 👍
Thanks Sparky!
Welcome back Gordo!! Missed ya :)
Gracias Amigo glad to be back!
Super excited to see you creating content again! Amazing work as usual!
Thank you and thanks for standing by!
Amazon is a good outlet for airbrushing. Bought the master kit with the compressor and have not been dlet down. Got me some pearl colors on top of the opaques and i’m set. Great work
Looks awesome!
Thanks!
Wow I’ve been watching so called pros on here and you sir make them look bad this is awesome my man
You absolutely CAN spraypaint helmets, people have done it for years. The raw shell of a decent helmet will be fibreglass or carbon fibre, both of which are very happy with paint.
I think the shadows are too black, and I'm not a fan of them going over the top of the white logo. Shadows should be a darker version of the same tone, not black. For the rivets, I would've cut small circles and then done a slight shadow around them, that would've been more effective at creating a 3D look (and the rivets would be the same colour as the base). But otherwise I liked this, and the way you created the weathered rust areas was cool.
Wow nice job
Great video. Helmet is killer. Mahalo for sharing!:) 🐒
Awesome thanks for watching
Amazing looking.
Very cool!
Thank you Aaron
Very cool helmet.
love to see helmets
First!!!!
Wow where has this guy been? Mr. Gordon has not posted in a while. I thought maybe he got the Covid :-(
@@IronGordon - a lot of us can relate.
Painting helmets has been going on for decades. Every professional racer has a custom painted helmet even Formula 1 which has the most stringent tech rules in the world.
Good job on this one. Interesting to see the air brush. Seems to work ok.
Some still paint but most use vinyl graphics.
Definitely, my last helmet spray painting video people were quick to let me know that your can't spray paint a helmet, but then wouldn't provide any evidence why. Thanks for the comments!
paints waaaay cooler in my opinion ha!
@@bigboycombo6342 Wrong, most motorsports use painted helmets, not least because the vinyl material is flammable.
Woah... that's pretty cool.
Great job! Appreciate you showing us your 'process' 👍 Warnings on helmets have always advised against painting them. Not sure if there's any validity in that (or it's just to protect the manufacturer) but its been going on for years and at the highest level of motorsports, so.........
Very informative. Great job!!!
Looks great! New sub here.
That is awesome, I want to custom paint my helmet, but this is far beyond my artistic capabilities. But thanks for showing the process!
Beyond bad-ass, great video.
Amazing.
Quick question how were you able to line them up on each side evenly your templates??
Love this! May I ask how long you wait before placing tape on and painting the new layer?
How do you replace the DoT cert??
Long time no post Gordon. All good buddy?
Yeah been a minute ha! its all good thanks for asking
Great stuff bro. More please. Also I would like to contract you for a custom paint job on my Shoei RF 1400. Would you be up for it? And please totally feel free to use it in your videos as content. Hope to talk soon
ok if the helmet was fallin- or u scratch it anywhere - theres no harder safety finish spray ? make it protectable- like epoxy resin? on a helmet?
Yeah I guess having a painted helmet, it would be more prone to scratches. But the 2k clear coat is very durable while still being light weight. Good question!
Why two different types of clear coat, especially when you sand the first down to a matte finish anyway?
I spray the gloss first then when I sand it, the gloss makes it easier to see what parts haven’t been sanded. After that I spray the matte clear to give me the final clear coat sheen I want. Hope that helps clear it up, Thanks for the question!
What would u charge to paint a helmet?
Nice work! do you make your stencils?
I’m trying to figure out what painting your helmet can do to detrimentally affect it?
If you let aerosol paint come in contact with the raw shell of the helmet it is theorized that it can weaken the molecular structure of the helmet. Also, another concern is aerosol paint getting on the foam liner of the helmet will also deteriorate the foam and make it useless.
hi, can you tell me what kind of paint is used to spray helmets, water based etc..???
Kind regards
Yayyyyyy new video! Bad ass as always
Thank you Darrin!
SUPER CHINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
gracias amigo
He back
Back Again!
Wow😳👍🏻
I love your content, the wealth of knowledge you share, and the way you get into a flow state with your creativity, and your video editing skills. These videos are that perfect blend of mesmerizing and engaging to watch for this ADHD brain hahaha. Also your amazon affiliate link to the airbrush is a dud :(
Chingon!!!!
gracias amigo!
It’s utter rubbish that painting helmets damages them. All the top F1 drivers, MotoGP and IOMTT riders have custom painted helmets.
I’d be more concerned with someone dropping a helmet than painting it!
That was amazing, you made me want to paint mine now! Thanks for your work.
You’re only a little bit of paint away from you’re very own custom helmet! Thanks for watching
Watch your video like blockbuster movie without pause from start to finish. Great work brother! ;)
Missed your videos! Day=made
Thanks Jared! your helmet will have its own video... one day haha! thanks for the support!
@@IronGordon No sweat man. It'll happen when it happens.
Cool design and paint skills!!
Awesome outcome and demo! Keep up the great work! 👍😀
Appreciate you David!
Is that 2k can a one-time use after you mix it by pressing on the bottom?
why wipe the helmet before wet sanding?
miss you man, happy thanksgiving
Hey dude! message me on IG
Great as always
Thanks again!
Do you compromise the safety of the helmet by sanding and painting? I've read a few things. Some say you do, some say you dont... 🙁
Amazing!!!
Welcome back, bruh! As usual, the creativity factor is through the roof, but I’d also like to commend you on the fine camerawork, editing and of course the Birocratic😂. Can’t wait to get back to work here in VT so I can send you a project.
Thank you Shrimp! thanks i try and throw in a camera trick or two, thanks for supporting my junk!
This is remarkable! Enjoy your content and look forward to more!
Thank you so much!
The final result is very impressive! Fantastic job my friend!🙏🔥💪👍
Thank you man! Keep up the good work!
