Welp, another Jeff tutorial that I'll never be able to do!🤣 Nice work!
😂
All I can say is INCREDIBLE! Jeff, you are a renaissance man and I now understand why you are comfortable taking on new projects and pushing into areas that are new to you.
That was really awesome to watch , I’m a big fan of spray painting , air brushing and custom work , great stuff !!
I like the precision
Jeff, you are a real wizard with that airbrush. I love that helmet and would have loved it if you could paint my helmet like that. I do V8 Sprint Car racing in South Africa. Love your videos always.
Not only are you a wizard with the spanners, your art work is top notch. That helmet is absolutely stunning. You should start doing it again permanently as a side line to the cars. Bit more revenue for the builds. Shoei and Arai will be contacting you to do their helmets soon.
This something I would love to do...I will do. Thanks you for pointing me in the right direction.
Great looking helmet! I was disappointed though that we didn't get to see it assembled back together, after paint (well, other than the thumbnail)? Thanks for the video, enjoyed it 👍
Wow....Awesome work but I was sooo hoping you were going to airbrush purple tartan 👌
How do you determine which helmets can be painted and which ones can't?
You need to find out from the manufacturer, but generally carbon fibre and fibreglass are ok, plastic is not.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff that makes sense. Thanks so much for your reply. Really enjoying your content.
Sick 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Those flames on the blue Mazsport in your portfolio photos tho'. Wow. 0:49
That's so satisfying to watch. Love your work.
Awesome video Jeff! I presume you leave off the rubber rim around the base, or do you replace it?
Very impressive Jeff...Love your passion
Damn. Finally content where you actually know what you are doing. Nice..
Mate! Just wow. That's seriously decent.
Superb work Jeff it has come out ACE
Wow awesome work 😱😱 one of the best tutorial ever👌
Very nice work! We’ll done! How does one determine if paint will weaken the helmet?
very talented, looks amazing
That is one wicked helmet
Fantastic video.
That takes skill and talent!
And patience. 😬😉
turned out awesome 👍, cheers sir.
You put the logo on first, but then paint over it. Can you briefly explain why. And is that vinyl lettering going over the paint before applying the clear coat?
I wanted the logo white, so I put it straight on the white of the helmet.
Top Jeff!
Just Stunning!👌👍😎
Awesome job Jeff! Its a work of art! 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🏁🦾
gorgeous!
beautiful 🥰
Not going to have any issues with the race marshals now that you painted over the snell logo on the back?
Paintable helmets have all the right info on internal tags as well.
As Neil said ;)
That makes sense. Thank you!
Bigg job
Impressive 👍
Just Great !!!!
What can I say 👏
Clever chap Jeff, what can't you do..?
It has yet to be invented.
Sit still?
@@_Bram pretty sure you're right there, wish I had his energy and enthusiasm...
Excellent craftsmanship very talented 👏
You are so skilled mate! I watch all of your videos and I’m in awe of your ability. Cheers from the UK!
Unreal. I didn’t think I would enjoy this video that much but it’s blown me away! Amazing!!
All you need to do now is a cooking tutorial and a bikini try on haul and you've got UA-cam pretty much around your little finger!
This would be like me doing a drumming video on my channel. People would be like “oh!… That’s what he actually does, and the car thing is a hobby“ you are such a brilliant artist Jeff. Thanks for sharing this talent with us.
Thanks mate. You need to find a way to incorporate your drumming with the cars ;)
Hey jeff i was wondering what type of paint you used to paint the helmet and where to buy that tape to cover the parts of the helmet you dont want painted
That looks awesome mate, you have many talents.
Thanks mate. You do alright yourself ;)
Why such a talent stop in airbrush buisiness? Very very well done !! Great job
Dude is there anything you can't do? Lol
I always thought you’re an artist with your cars.. the helmet paint was truly next level👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Hmmmm .. my the Alpherrari be going yellow....
Is it okay to paint the bell kc7-cmr ??
Blue from the Datsun, Orange from the 911. Yellow from the Alfa?
Now tell us Jeff; is this the same yellow as on the Alfa?!
I’m guessing the Alfarrari will be yellow then...
Stand back...really skilled artist at work! I suppose the question on most people’s minds is why you stopped doing it?
Time for a change.
I had a fantasy of painting one of my helmets, but my head exploded at the 17 minute mark, so I think I'm just going to keep it white...
I'm glad you mentioned that some plastics don't respond well to paint and some glues from stickers! I learnt this when I became a WH&S rep many moons ago in regards to hard hats in the construction industry!
Thanks for being a first responder!
What helmets should we avoid painting?
Great work, Jeff. Just a couple of quick, basic questions, please. I want to paint a "raw black" Bell Star Carbon helmet (hate the nasty black) into white with some basic stripes.
First, does it compromise the safety of a Bell Star carbon shell to paint it?
If it's OK to paint, would you use a primer when after sanding down? You mentioned "auto paint" - would that be enamel or lacquer? Is there a preferred final clear coat?
Finally, when you're doing a layout with masking, how do you find and divide a center point at the rear, and how do you assure that that point is extended perfectly perpendicularly upward? I think if I can set this correct rear line, I can assure a symmetrical layout on both sides and around and my stripes will be aligned and even.
Many thanks, Bb North Carolina USA
You are so good at this! I love this design!!! Welldone!
That Maz Sport flame job!!!
What a cool project to break things up a little bit.
Nice work Jeff!
WOW!!! Saying that helmet is awesome is an understatement!!! You mentioned in the video that some helmets cannot be painted. How do you know if you can or cannot paint a particular helmet?
A man of many unexpected talents! It just goes to show that no learning or skill doesn't have some great uses. From the "Murican side it does make me want to compare you to Ed Roth, though! Whack helmet, mate! It'll make the car at least 10-15 kph faster for sure! FR
Gonna do a Käärïja theme for mine. He's my favourite singer and it'll be cool to have the only Käärïja themed bike in Australia 😁
How did u make the pattern or where did you buy the pattern to then apply and then airbrush please ?
1rst video I watched from you and that's a definite sub to your channel!!!!!! That was 🔥!!
How do you know which helmet won’t be weakened by this process ? I’d like to do this on rpha 1 or rx7v fim
Wow amazing!! What is the gloss finish mix? That really makes it pop!
Jeff is your best case scenario neighbour.
Need a hand to work on your car.. ✔️
House on fire ✔️
Jeffs got you covered ✔️
How can you tell what plastics are ok with paint, is there a guide somewhere. I want to paint myself a helmet but also want to try survive a crash if i come off😂
wow....was around your area midweek on a bike ride...saw few fire trucks about...checked all of them ..made sure if i spotted you
excellent video… those flames are really nice… freehand too. i use the real fire curve stencils for the sharp round parts and freehand the rest
I’m curious, what does Jeff not know? One video like just seems super inadequate here.
Very cool to see the old original skills on display. So much more has been learned and mastered in the meantime,
and it's awesome to get to see it all. There's been hints of an alternate life before this channel started,
now we get a taste of what that was all about. Impressive skills there Mr. Jeff.
you make a comment about not all helmets can be painted as the paint will weaken the helmet and no longer be safe. can you please share more information on how this can be determined and what steps to take to ensure the helmet retains its original safety level. thanks
😃😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👏👏👏 Beautiful, classic !!!😃😃😃😀😀🙂🙂🙂👊👊👊👊
lot of respect.....painting is alot of work man, very tedious
What kind of paint can a DIY person like myself use or buy from?
jeff... wtf!! there's something you're not good at???
How many time do you wait between you paint something and have to tape that painted zone to continue painting the other layer?
From one firefighter to another, wow, it looks amazing!!! Now I see why custom paint on helmets cost so much. So much time goes into the taping process. Beautiful work, Brother. 🔥👍
wow nice job. good video. do you remember how many hours you had into this job? thanks.
I painted my helmet, couldn't have sex for weeks
Great work master...👍, thanks for sharing
What makes a helmet paintable and not? I ride a motorcycle and wanna try to paint my own
bro, why did you stop air brushing? You are so talented man!
Hi jeff, What is that sheet of tape called and where do i buy it thanks
Very cool can you tell us what paint you prefer to use and why?
Looks great Jeff. How long did it take from start to finish?
About 15 hours or so.
Jeff, I do a lot of painting on canvases and my brother has asked me to paint his helmet. It is currently white and ugly. do you recommend an acrylic, enamel or another type of paint. I’d intended on using lacquer because of its hardness but it has been recommended to me not to use it.
I have only used automotive paints. You definitely need to check to see if your painting that helmet with those paints damages the integrity of the helmet. If it is not done correctly it can void the helmet as far as any authorities go.
Seeing this all late but its awesome none the less!!! Love it, looked at the other videos, your a bad dude!! 👍 💯, where the colors thinned down to be transparent or were they candies?
Yellow doesn't cover well and it needs to be thin for the airbrush anyway
I have an issue after first color , next day I remask for color #2 and the masking tape pulls up the first color ?
That usually happens when you didn't sand the helmet well enough first.
Be aware that by painting a crash helmet you are dicing with your life. Due to the molecular structure of a helmets material the painting and subsequent baking of said helmet weakens it due to the chemicals used in Car paints and the actual baking weakens the strength and integrity of the crash helmet so when if it's ever needed the strength of the helmet will fail which could ultimately result in your death or at least a very serious injury. If you read the safety instructions for crash helmets it will tell you not to Paint them for this very reason
That is why, not all helmets can be painted, and also why this was not baked ;)
I didn't understand any of that but great job!
How much would it cost for you to paint my helmet?
I need a custom lid. Can you please paint one for me!
Great helmet the themes Great Harry, datsun, logo fire
Did you get some new helmet certication holograms for the back for the over officious track techs ?
The high end helmets don't have the holograms, it is all on the inside.
So since you Covered the Saftey Certified logo how do you put it back on?? Do you just get a new sticker or what??
It is all inside on these type of helmets
I inspire to be like you thank you for your videos
What paints are safe to use on the helmets you're able to paint on?
What kind of paint do you use? I always have the problem of peeling the paint.
Peeling paint means you didn't sand the base well enough ;) I use automotive 2 pack.
Very good tutorial. Thank you!
beautifull, but doesnt mrs jeff need one too?
C'est très joli bravo
Very interesting vidéo 👍👍👍
That looks like Oramask 810,
