    I've watched a lot of your videos, and I don't use spray paint, but I absolutely LOVE your videos. You crack me up and are actually pretty talented.
    FYI, I was a trauma nurse for 20 years and I'm going to implore you to wear a helmet. I know, I know, but my husband wouldn't ever ride without a helmet. As that nurse, I have seen all kinds of horrors to the head and brain that resulted in broccoli status if not death for seemingly minor accidents. And never, ever, try to wear one of those half-helmets that we call "brain buckets". If you hit hard, all you'll have is a flip-top head like the old commercials from the 1990's for Reach toothbrushes.
    Proper armor wouldn't hurt either because without it, you're just a skin donor to the pavement. That can also kill you, by the way. At speed, if you land off of your bike, you can skid for several hundred feet. That will wear through denim in a couple of seconds. A t-shirt will be destroyed almost as soon as you hit. What's beyond your shirt? Skin. You'll be treated like a burn patient, if you survive. You'll spend months in the hospital, have dozens of surgeries, and likely will have to go through extensive rehab just to wipe your arse by yourself.
    But the brain is the worst injury.
    LITERALLY, a flip top head. You can literally lift the top of the skull completely off of your head.
    Don't be a douche. Don't leave your family without you. Wear a helmet. Please, for the love of God, wear a proper helmet.
    THANK you for telling folks that not wearing a helmet isn't cool.
    I've seen a brain laying on a CT table when the bandage EMS placed happened to slip off. Yes, the whole brain falling out of the skull onto the CAT scan table because the previous nurse didn't remove the bandage to properly assess.
    I don't ride, even as a passenger, for a reason. One small miscalculation, if you don't have the proper equipment, can leave you as a skin donor, or with a flip-top head, or worse, an internal decapitation. I can only think of one child that ever survived an internal decapitation to go on to function 70% normally.
    I will never, ever, be seen seated on a motorcycle unless it's a DIRE emergency, and I can't image what could be so dire as to get me on a bike. NO way. NO how.
    Wear a fully accredited full face helmet. It can have Bluetooth and all kinds of other things. My husband has all of those. And if it's cracked, don't buy it. If you crash and crack your helmet, buy another because it's useless after it's cracked.
    In my book, if you don't wear a helmet because you don't think it's cool, then you're a douche and I shouldn't have to waste my time and valuable resources to try to save you. Looking cool is asking for trouble because not being safe and demonstrating that to others isn't cool. You just look like an ass.
    I'm glad you started wearing a helmet.

    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush
      @DuncanCustomAirbrush  7 місяців тому +4

      Wow thank you for caring enought to write that thoughful message - but I actually ALWAYS wear a helmet and just did that part for the bit of context reasoning for painting on the helmet and to say that not wearing one is a dumb idea.

      My father was a training to be a physician in England in the 1950's. During his stint as senior resident, he owned a motorbike. One rainy night, he had to amputate 3 legs in a 6 hour window. They were all motorcycle accidents. He sold his bike the next week and has never ridden one since.
      He turned 91 in April this year.

    • @PaisleyPatchouli
      @PaisleyPatchouli 6 місяців тому +3

      Thank you for your service as a Trauma Nurse! I know a bit about what it's like because I dated/lived with a trauma nurse for several years way back in the 70s, and we would routinely have the "decompression talk" after she'd had a particularly rough day just so she could get the horrors off her chest - so to speak - and maybe her PTSD wouldn't end up so bad. Instead we shared it... ;)
      Much later on I had another girlfriend, a professional ballerina, who had survived a severe bike (bicycle) accident in NYC where the EMTs literally had to pick her precious beautiful brain up off the curb. She actually recovered with remarkably good results, (like she could still dance!), but the poor mad sweetie lived with classic TBI issues (AKA Jekyll and Hyde syndrome) for ever after...
      So yeah; helmet = good, no helmet = douche...

    • @mikakettunen7939
      @mikakettunen7939 5 місяців тому

      This is a little bit off the actual topic - pardon my curiosity - but I am curious what happened to this mentioned patient who had his/her brain sliding out the skull to CAT scan table - I mean in the end brain and spine are rather squishy and flexible piece of meat and brain could potentially be inserted smoothly back to its nest into skull?

      This may all be mentioned in the video but I'm still waiting for it to load over my slow connection. Based on the comments, I'm sure I'll enjoy.

      @jdhitc 5 місяців тому +1

      @@I_Dont_Answer_Questions No, a motorcycle helmet does not need to have a chin guard to meet DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. The DOT certification primarily focuses on the helmet's ability to protect the head during an impact. Helmets can be full-face, modular, or open-face and still meet DOT standards, as long as they pass the required safety tests.

      Was thinking the exact same thing. I've been riding on and off for almost 40 years, and one of the first things I learnt was that you never know the condition of a second hand helmet. They are designed to protect you ONCE from a fall... that's it. The integrity of the helmet is compromised after this, and WON'T PROTECT YOU AT ALL AFTER THIS. It's not worth the risk of permanent brain damage (I've seen this, and it's not pretty. It's also very sad)..... great comment.
