Any one know what "Put the water on the DNA way" means?
spitting it out and putting your DNA on it. Talk about making it personal! 😜🤑
LoL I think the real question is, why didn’t he use his air brush gun instead of a can of spray paint 🤔
❤️❤️❤️❤️
@rebeccamd7903 my guess is because of the paint type, especially with the acid wash look, air brush paint doesn't dry like spray paint.
Spitting just like Pob!
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much. I think you opening the garage door, sorry craft room, and realizing it was dark was typical of many artists and crafters who completely lose track of time.🥰
lol 100%! I never even know what day it is!!
@@DuncanCustomAirbrushI can second that 🤣🤣🤣
❤
Yeah.. it's almost like the dimension of time disappears until you're done and look at your watch and go...
Wait!! What??? Holy crap!!!! 😮
@@chop-daresistance7514Too true. Not to mention forgetting to eat too… 🤣
For a smoother finish on canvas you can get Gesso at the craft store and paint the canvas with it.. then when dry sand it smooth. Do it a few times to get a really smooth surface. Most painters/artists need a little texture from canvas as it gives bite or tooth for the paints to stick as brushed on.
Awesome tip!
I make my own gesso
Nice.. I'm new to this so I'll try it out.. thank you 🙏🏼
@@tendr247 what do you use?
I used the water drop affect in some epoxy corn hole boards I made a few years ago. They turned out insane! You explained everything perfectly. Love the water drop affect, love your videos. ❤️❤️
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, I bet those boards were a HIT!
Sounds great. Could you post them and how you made them? Thanks.
This guy's out there......so refreshing.
I don't care if it's been done before, I could listen to this guy all day.
Thanks!
Seems like a cool dude.
A artist and a natural comedian. He got the mixture for success….. late to the party (he’s already successful) but will subscribe. Thanks man.
An* artist ;)
Thank you, I’ve never used spray paint or truthfully barely have any paint skills but redoing a interior wall and I’m going to try this technique out on it. 🤞🏻✌🏻
Gosh bless
The water drop effect is pure genius! Thank you loads x
I dont get to watch as many of your videos as I used to..Life.. but love every single one that you have done. I love and appreciate how you explain your techniques and have fun while teaching. You really inspired me to do Toomblers and more. My first 2 of them that I did were using the Dawn dish soap and then the 2 tone woodgrain. Looking forward to more of your videos as always.
Thank you so much 😊
You are so right. It is insane. So beautiful and ingenius. Thanks a lot.
THANK YOU for sharing this technique! It's awesome, want to tell my pupils at school to try it out (not without safety precautions that is...)
A tip for orienting / hanging the piece with the water droplets: Since light ordinarily comes from above us, mount the piece with the "shadowed" side down and the highlight side up. Alternatively, do whacha want. 😁
Excellent work... and fun!
Inverting it would make it look dimpled instead of bubbled. Still a valid effect.
@@artildawn : And I'm such a pure visual type that, unless I actually SEE it done, I don't know for sure how it'll look. lol But I totally get what you're saying.
This was entertaining and very informative! Great idea with the water, I did this once when I accidently left a spray painted canvas out in the rain and loved seeing the drops and sprayed them blue it was cool!
Happy little accident!!
Cool Dude you made me smile and learn at the same time. You are the best kind of teacher and I have been teaching 33 years. Humour and facts make powerful medicine. A recipe to pass down the generations.
Wow, thanks!
Thumbs up for making me lol😂 when you opened the garage door and found it was dark out. Definitely relatable. Cool paint too
Love the effects, love how you present your art and new tricks! God bless!❤❤
That's pretty cool. I was doing this stuff almost 40 years ago with an airbrush when I was studying Commercial Arts (now called "Graphic Design"). What's old is new again.
Yeah but most don't physically draw anymore, most just do digital with the "undo" button, lol
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush LOL... yeah old school was letra-set type, airbrush, colored pencils, prisma-colored markers... ahhh the good ol' days =D
I'll never give up on the pencils, colored pencils, markers, paint, airbrush, etc. So much more gratifying doing it the "primal" way. Lol.
I saw the second one years ago and always meant to try it, but never got around to it. This was a good reminder for me to try it as well as adding another trick to my mental toolbox with that first one.
Love both the technique AND the way you taught it. Yes, we should take our art seriously and strive to be good at what we do, but humor really helps make things approachable. Thanks for the tips! ❤
I agree !
That's really amazing! I love the water droplets 💦 effects it looks 3D.😊
Thank you! Cheers!
I discovered a similar effect when you do a base coat, and while it's still wet, immediately follow with a different color primer and it creates an amazing crackle effect and will dry that way without any clear needed! The primer floats on top of the wet paint!
Sounds great. I accidently created that snakeskin effect on my sons bedroom furniture after I painted it black, I think I varnished it before it was cured and hence the lovely pattern emerged much to my delight.
How interesting! Since I live near the beach and was already planning to experiment with some techniques for painting indoor and outdoor things, this is perfect timing!
Cool effect,I turn wood wood bowls, gonna do it on some. Thanks for sharing this.
Great techinques! THANK YOU for adding humor and fun to the video. Will definitely be keepin' my eye on you!! Hahah!!! Have a blessed day😊
That's awesome! Will be trying this on my next cup! I've always had trouble figuring this out! Thank you very much sir for showing this!
Glad to help - am I am glad that the spray paint worked because I have never tried it with spray paint before this video!
this is great, i did this on paddles years ago, it was amazing to add a wet effect to the paddle
This guy is so good I could listen him all the time. I am making a coffee table for my daughter and HE gave me an excellent idea how to make it something special. Thank you Duncan👍
My pleasure!!
Oh my goodness! Are you ever fun and entertaining! I hope the youth group has you for a teacher/leader too! Oh, the art is fantastic too! Thanks! 😁🇨🇦
I love this, really going to try this. First need to get one of your mini airbrush machines 😊
So I just stumbled onto your page and I have to say I am very impressed. Thank you for your explanations and your sense of humor. I do a lot of basic spray painting. (One color) but now imma step it up with the help of your page. Thank you and have a great day on purpose.
You got this!
Thanks mate great video! I look forward to going through all your other videos. I am retired now and Decided to start painting again. I’ve done other spray paint art using texturing materials, such as crumpled up newspapers and tinfoil, space stuff. I look forward to learning more techniques. Thank you. You’re very talented. thanks for the inspiration.
That's awesome! Love the water drop method. I may try that on a tumbler 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks and you should! I have done it in a tumbler before
That’s awesome!! You are so very talented. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
Those water droplets look so realistic! I love that technique!
I love that so much!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!❤
Thanks for watching!
Awesome spray paint effects! Thank you for sharing
That's a really cool effect! Thank you so much for sharing. I love your videos ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Wasn't sure how that was gonna turn out, but that was too cool and it looked easy. Thanx for the video👍🏾
Made a non-porous surface with the layer of silver. This also works with brush on acrylic paints also (at least the wipe method).
Well, just when you think you've seen it all, along comes one those videos of a guy mixing good humor with unique art and a bit of science. I did airbrushing for several years in a tourist town, then got into fractal burning wood, now I'm thinking about epoxy and the like. And now you show me something new. Very cool. Might combine a few different things. See if I can come up with something original. Or is the saying "nothing new under the sun" a real thing? Guess it doesn't matter if it's original to you, right? Enjoyed your video and picked up a bit of inspiration from it. Well done.
Thank and so glad you enjoyed! I also combine things a lot to come up with new ideas!👍
I love the effects. I did one with water droplets a few years ago and wrote the word "WET" over the water droplets. Everyone that sees the effect just cracks up, they cannot believe it is painted.
These are all great ideas, I do have to say that the last one is my favorite! Great job, thanks!🙏🏻
Thank you so much😊. If you could teach me everything else in the world, that would be awesome. Your explaining style helped it stick
I've never seen your work before. Loved this video!!! Now I've got a few tricks to try in something I'm working on! Awesome ideas!!
Excellent tutorial. Love the effect. Thank you for posting! ❤
I love this video. Not only is it fun for the art but you remind me so much of me it's wild .
You are entertaining delightful and adorable. And you're art your airbrush art is amazing!
Thank you so much!
🇦🇺
💖 Me too!! 👌I enjoyed watching the video (of myself) so much lol.........and the art wasn't bad either! 😜🌬💦🌌🏆
I love learning new ways especially with spray paint and I tell you what you are hilarious you are so down to earth and real you made me laugh so many times just in that video just now but I love trying new things and you did a great job and I will follow you many many more times
Amazing...and you had me laughing and enjoying myself. Thank you a million times
I can't remember how I hooked up to your site .... this is the first video of yours that I watched ... but I guarantee it is not the last. I have been into paint, since I created a technique, back in the early 70's (at least I think I created it ... never seeing anyone else do it before) ... using burning plastic, on dash components for my custom van. I moved into air brushing t-shirts, painting car bodies, then painting with brushes on canvas, and now integrating brush and air brush on canvas ... while still painting on other materials ... have seen water droplet effects before but not how it was accomplished ... thanks, Very Cool.
Thanks for the awesome comment and keep on paintin'!
Duncan; @2:51 I about spit my coffee out! lol. Great effect and video as always!
Richard
LOL!!
love your sense of humor. makes watching something technical also fun! 🙌
Thanks!
I would most likely never do any of these projects you showcase, so why did I watch it? Because you're entertaining and educational. Thank you!
lol thanks!
That was really cool to watch n learn few new tricks...thank u for sharing them!! Keep the cre8ivity, tips, tricks & videos coming!! Congrats on the new personalized airbrush kit, looks gr8 n luv the color...u will have them available again in near future so I can grab one!! Til next tyme....keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!
Thanks for the great comment and inspiration!
That first technique, but using black paint on white canvas, looks like a way to make a space-like background of stars.
Love this... I have been looking a series of videos like this!!! I have a huge piece to create on a wall with my artistic daughter over break.
That sounds fun!!
Insane, I'm so going to try it❤.
I love this... im ultra untalented (artistically) & this looks easy.. new subscriber!!
Good simple stuff. Fun times and pretty result. Sharp as a KuhNife!
lol!
Wow , they look so cool . Thank you for sharing your amazing talent ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Not a pro, but I use winded. Looking glass paint, spray in the container (large glass jars) then spray winded inside. Dry. Looking glass paint again, windex. Do it until you get the desired effect. Love your video!!!!
First let me say this, Hysterical! You had me cracking up while watching and learning a really cool trick. Being a novice painter, this easy way to replicate water will make me look like a pro. Thank you for the lesson and the fun you created watching it! Looking forward to the next. You must be a pisser to hang out with... Subscribing now!
Love the video thanks for your insight!
You are so much fun to watch. You'd be great at standup comedy. Love the creations and techniques. Thanks for sharing
awesome 3D effect - thanks for sharing this
100%! I have done this on all kinds of things, even a motorcycle - just never before with spray paint!
😂😂 First person in my life whom also says "Ka knife" love it. 👌
🤣🤣🤣
Think it would work on a Formica faux marble surface? Maybe with a primer and sealer? That would be awesome on an industrial style bathroom vanity!!
Buddy of mine used to be into graffiti and he had all kinds of calligraphy/ special caps, yet he pulled off some really awsome stuff with WD 40 straws. He would cut ,melt, chew on the ends and get amazing spray patters to work with.
Super nice... Thanks for your time
I will try this. Also like your clever way of padding the run time. I’m always trying to go fast and to the point. Now I don’t have enough watch hours
Did you happen to make a video about the other 2 panels on that canvas? I'd would love to see how you did them. Thank you😀
sure do! ua-cam.com/video/U_bIdVfAe6w/v-deo.html
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush thank you so much😃
😂😂 This izz the first video i've seen by him, and he's comical. i like what he shared (AMAZING). i will definitely be viewing his previous videos on metal and woodwork.
Awesome!
This is absolutely beautiful and AMAZING!! I've always wanted to know how to make rain drops on canvas, so ty!! And u my friend, are hilarious! U just got yourself another subscriber bc of your talent and your personality!! God bless!!
Thank you and Amen!!🙌
Omg you crack me up!! I ❤ your personality!!
Thank you so much!!
You are probably one of the best people at demonstrations that I have ever watched!! You make it so easy to follow and I swear, I laugh the whole time because you are so funny! I can't stand watching videos where people just keep blabbing about shit that has nothing to do with the project and waste time. I have the ADDsyndrome (haha) and you are one of the scarce few that can keep my attention THE WHOLE TIME!!! 😁😁😁
Im def tryin this waterdrop technique!!!
Ok this was amazing!!!!! Love diff techniques 🙌🏼
Thanks so much!!
Love this!!! Thank you!
Rad!
Thank you for encouraging ppe!!!! Yes!!! Paint on!!!
Cool I really appreciate this tutorial thank you
I'm guessing I have a lot of video catching up to do on your channel lol 😅 I love the funny and engaging way you do them 😁 this turned out great, and is something similar I've planned for my upcoming 25 days of Christmas crafting series 😊
ooh that sounds fun!
Great pacing and very informative all while being entertaining. Subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
First let me say I'm new to all of this technology don't know how to click on these links but I am interested in getting into the airbrushing I do a lot of spray painting myself really is cool what you're doing with the water and I believe I might try that out I did hit like And subscribe cannot wait to see more
Another technique is dish soap. Prevents the layer underneath from taking on the new coat. Good for camouflage patterns and the like.
I have several dish soap painting videos and even one doing camouflage - you'll have to check them out and let me know what you think.
@DuncanCustomAirbrush sweet, I just found your channel today and have been watching some of your other styles too
OMG! I LOVE THIS! Your awesome! my new fav UA-camr! keep the vids coming!
Fun video. Cool technique. I attempted this. My effort came out looking like the "acid washed" version.
I was going for the bolder shadowed droplet look.
I spray painted a 1/8 in thick rectangle of plywood gloss white and let it dry. Then sprayed water droplets on the panel. I sprayed gloss black at one angle and a green at a different angle.
(not sure how to convey this) My water drops were weak at the edges.
I'm assuming what I am missing is surface tension. What is the trick to make the water droplets more pronounced and stand up from the panel surface more?
I like the salon sprayer I have because it can atomiz the water very well and I can vary up the drop sizes. You may just need to spray more water and some will combine to make nicer bigger drops. Also play around with the amount of paint your spray, try more and try less, but a very low sharp angle.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
If you compare your piece with some pictures of the surface of the moon, it looks similar! Love the effect!
Love your vids for the projects and your crazy humour ❤😂😂😂
What do you use to seal it afterwards? Love the video!
Are there also different size replacement needles easily available for the airbrush ❓great vid, as usual..you rock ❤
Love the raindrops.
Dude that water effect turned out incredible!! DEFINITELY gonna keep that one in mind.
I wonder if it would work on wood with different stain tones?
Try it, let us know!
Great! I'll try spitting oil paint next onto wet canvas.
You are infectiously entertaining! No wonder you got mega YT numbers. ❤
couldn't stop laughing about the DNA way. Had to pause the video! always love your videos!
LOL!! Can't say i didn't put my everything into it, lol!
New subscriber as soon as you dropped the cans of paint. I love crazy😂
This video just earned yourself a new subscriber, my man! Really great result. I can't wait to try this out with my little girl!
Amazing technique. Wow!! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
This is hella cool- it’s my first time seeing you and it makes such a nice variation of background textures… I’m curious to see what else you’ve created!
What she said ! Oh, plus you is hella funny!
I love the soap design
Love it, especially the drops -and timelessness lol! Any chance of a vid demonstrating the psychedelic gradient with patches panel? Apologies if you've put it up already etc (I used to spray bikes and spent hours over gradients -one day I'd finally got the Red to Yellow perfect blend and picked up the clear coat to finish -except that it was the Silver I was using on another project. Yeah. Mess. I got there eventually :D
You're in luck - I DID already make that video! ua-cam.com/video/yZ-9AVF6BmY/v-deo.html
Love the humour added
Thank you!
