- Hey gang, In this airbrush tutorial I will be painting up a biltwell Motorcycle helmet in a "sailor Jerry" Style design for a customer. I will show you some of the techniques I use to create an airbrush stencil out of paper. How to make color tones from mixing white basecoat with a little bit of candy toner paint. You will see the process on how I layer my paint starting with the lightest color shade to the darkest. Using a fiberglass pen tool I pull the lighter colors below back by lightly scratching off the paint. This prevents blue shifting which is caused by spraying a lighter color over a darker tone. Understand there is allot of different ways to airbrush and I don't always use these same techniques. Each job presents its own set of challenges.

Adam, I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I finally got the courage to paint my bike last December. It came out great thanks to the techniques I learned from your videos and people think I’m lying when I tell them it was my first time painting with automotive paints. I have seen a tool that is a tiny blade on the end of a de burning type tool that makes cutting out dark edges smooth because it can rotate freely around the edges. I have no idea where to get one but it would increase the look around the edges, I think..

Hey is the gun you offer an lvlp? It's listed as an hvlp. And what size compressor would you recommend for it? Thanks!
A two stage compressor for any paint gun is definitely recommended

Hey Adam I ordered some supplies for a transfer attempt if I mirror my image and spray the back with white like the one you did do I need anything else other than water to make it stick not understanding how it will stick paint to paint. Any advice would be awesome. This piece is being donated to an auction that help local vets in my area. Really hoping it turns out love the videos and liking your products so far thanks
No you don't need anything else, as long as u spray a clear coat on top of the image as well as white paint your good to go. Mirror the image of your choice, turn the water slide bottom up and your all good!

One other thing is to make sure the white base coat is applied smoothly that way it has a good contact with the sanded clear on the tank

Can't sanding affect the safety and warranty on a helmet? I'm thinking of painting my own helmet but I read that customizing my helmet could affect those things and I don't want to screw that up
