Music is supposed to tell a story. It's supposed to take you for a ride seems country is the only Genre of music that still does this. This song takes you on that ride. You can feel it in your soul. It's overwhelming at times. Especially a story such as this. Pure gold

Yeah, country isn't the only place this exists. It's just a matter of finding the right artist. Like in hip hop, right off the top of my head, J. Cole's Wet Dreamz being one. Yeah, the title is funny, but it's a really relatable song for a lot of folks and composed in a sequential storytelling format.

Music can be whatever it wants to be, it's art lol. I'll give country music credit for its lyrical storytelling, but musically it's the most samey and shallow genre I've ever heard.

The song begins with "A couple of pretty flowers, is what I brought to you."
Then concludes at the end "I throw in a pretty flower, as they slowly lay you low.. It was a rose."
Revealing what kind of flowers that he said he brought in the beginning of the song and the reason for him bringing them to her. Great writing.

I saw your review as one of the suggested vids in the feed- I really appreciate the fact that you played thru the entire song without interrupting it every 20 seconds like others do on reaction videos. Thank you for recognizing the depth and truth in the message of this song.. Your reaction throughout this song expressed the tragedy of a life of depression that was fatally compromised by the drugs. We all know someone going through a similar fate, but your closing narrative asking us to check on that someone speaks volumes about the compassion in your heart… Naturally, our tendency is to avoid “those people”, but they aren’t bad… They have just lost their way… Drugs provide a false escape from their sad reality…

These boys are from my hometown, it is always nice to see them getting the recognition they deserve. If you haven't seen or don't know about the show 'Yellowstone' you should check it out, they have some scenes on there playing in a bar. For some context of the area we are from it is one of the typical rural towns in America really having a big problem with crystal meth right now. Just this past year a guy I graduated with ran from and got into a shootout with the sheriff's department and was killed. He was a meth dealer and on meth at the time. Thing about this guy is back when we were in school he was that "all american kid" you never would have suspected to end up like that, but he did. Meth doesn't give shit who you are or if you're a "good kid" or not. Anyway, the "Timeout off of 155" is a strip club in the area outside of Tyler, TX - 155 is the road and Timeout is the place; 155 is one of the main roads through there. Thing about that place is, since it is such a small area around here, is sometimes you would go in there and see girls you knew or grew up with, went to school with, etc. and some of them would be in there to support their addiction.

    A couple of pretty flowers
Is what I brought I to you
I saw you through a broken window
With a different point of view
    You had signs of depression
From a long line of sin
And your face tells a story
Bout the places you have been
    I love you so,
    I thought you should know
    And that muddy waters flowin
    As you take my hand
Past the creek down by the holler
    Through your daddy's land
I could buy you a diamond
But I cannot change your world
Cuz I ain't got no money
You'll never be my girl no no
    I thought you should know
You was gonna be a singer
    Or be a movie star
But you cant catch no breaks baby
    And Hollywood is hard
Now you work down at the Time Out
    Off 155
And you're dancing for your dollar
    Just tryin' to stay alive
    It hurts me so
    I thought you should know
    You feed your addiction
    With your crystal meth
And I plea for your life
as it takes you to your death
You make your deal with the devil
As your looks begin to fade
I saw you laughin' through the tears
    As you slowly slipped away
    I watched you go
    I thought you should know
    Yeah I watched you go
    I thought you should know
    That cold rain is pourin'
As they lay you in a grave
    I can barely recognize you
    In your fragile state
    No more signs of depression
    From a long time ago
I throw in a pretty flower
As they slowly laid you low, it was a rose
    I thought you should know
    Yeah it was a rose
    I thought you should know

Whiskey Myers is a Texan country band. The lead singer/guitarist Cody Cannon, from Whiskey Myers, was narrating from his best friend’s perspective of this girl that he loved dearly. Hoop and Holler is a place in Texas, and The Time-out is a strip club in Palestine Texas. It’s sad that this girl had “a long line of sin” (nice double entendre) of cocaine and/or meth, and after she expressed her aspirations, and goals in life, she works “at The Time-out off of 155” after Cody’s best friend “saw her through a broken window with a different point of view” because what he is witnessing is not at all how he saw her life playing out. After the good times they shared they never ended up together, and there was nothing he could do to help her, but “watch her go,”lose her good looks, and to later throw in one of those “pretty flowers” at her funeral. Truly one of the best country songs I’ve heard with a real story to tell, but a sad one.

Hey thank you for reacting to this song. It’s actually a true story, it’s about his best friends wife who unfortunately lost her life to meth addiction. It’s a huge problem in east Texas and doesn’t get talked about much.

My dad's method of driving home the "stay away from meth" talk was to take me and my sister to meet his cousin (who had also been one of his best friends growing up) that has to live in an assisted living facility because he OD'd on meth and fried his brain to the point that he has no short term memory retention. He still thinks it's 1980 something, that him and my dad hung out just last week, they're both still in their 20's, my dad doesn't have kids yet, and his parents are still alive despite the fact that they've been gone for nearly a decade. After my dad visited with him for a little bit, he took us out to the lobby of the place for about ten minutes before taking us back into his cousin's room again, and his cousin didn't even remember that we had just been there. They had the exact same conversation that they had before, and to him, it was the first time it had happened. Real eye-opener for sure.

I've lost a few to drugs through the years. Im sure everyone knows someone in a grave too soon. A girl i knew overdosed on oxies and wiskey a few years back. I just found out recently. It didn't surprise me knowing her. But I really liked her, there was a beautiful soul trapped in her disaster of a life... yeah, I saw her through a broken window with a different point of veiw.

This song is based off a true story about one of the lead singers significant others at one time. The Time Out on 155 is a real place, so that might and should make it hit you harder on your soft spot

He loved her and she couldn't return the love. He watched her go fro. A young adventurous beauty to a drug addict that died. He couldn't save her no matter how much he loved her.... SHE didn't love him no matter how much he loved her... its a Heartbreakers. Some men could be so good for some woman but destructive behavior and lack of of true feelings can lead people down a path of no return... I feel this song so much because this is literally a story from my book....

The live version is better IMO but the song is speaking about a guy that was in love with a girl that he wasnt "together" with and him watching her grow and slowly fade to a life of addiction and how it felt and looked from his point of view. Defintely glad to see a review/reaction of a song that stands out from the music so many other reaction videos are being done to.

I grew up in the town these guys are from (Palestine, Tx) the Rime Out on CR155 is a strip club between Palestine and Tyler Tx, it closed down a couple years ago. But they mention a lot of references to the Palestine Tx area in there songs. I actually got the chance to party with the band once, brought my acoustic guitar and just sat around a fire drinking whiskey and playing music and had a blast! Another song from them you should check out is "Different Mold" it's a real rocker
