i dont condone cheating really, but i take that kiss as them saying goodbye to the possibility of a romance for them. that's how i interpret it

I feel like they could’ve been together here if Sylvie wasn’t in the picture. Dex had finally matured and gotten off the dr*gs and booze. And Emma was finally confident and comfortable in herself. I think that’s why the kiss in the maze didn’t really phase them. They knew they loved eachother it was just bad timing again 😭

I think the kiss at the end of this episode was a moment of recognition of their love for each other, but almost a farewell to it because they have to move on. Like what could have been, can't be now. Definitely morally questionable, but I didn't see it as romantic, more just the culmination of a long and deep love that they know they have to let go of.

sad y'all missed the accidental kiss at 13:23 but yeah y'all summed it up, their relationship is complicated lol. i saw that kiss in the maze like a natural culmination of their relationship so i didn't really view it too much as cheating because it felt so much more personal than just a kiss/sexual attraction yk? but it is still technically cheating so 😭 rip

I really don't get why people think Sylvie is ok. I don't like her since the first time she appeared and it's pretty obvious that Dex is not happy with her, just trying to convince himself to have a "normal family life" after all the mess he was in the past

I agree. She led Dex around by the ear. He was on a very short leash - well, that leash did get a bit longer in the maze 😂 - and Dex walked on eggshells around her. Also, in the book, it said something like she didn’t like to smile/laugh because she didn’t like what it did to her face. 😮

I didn’t see the kiss as cheating- more of a goodbye to the possibility of what they could have been. Definitely a case of right person, wrong time and I love that Emma was brave enough to tell Dex how she felt.

Dex and Emma are just soulmates like no matter who they are with, they are always magnets to each other sjdjdjjd. Is not even that Dex is a cheater, is just Emma. Emma will always be someone to him that he’ll flow to. Same with Emma. Even if she technically doesn’t cheat on her partners, her priority is always Dex. That’s who she connects with.

You guys are not really listening😂. Dex literally said it’s a shotgun wedding. He is only getting married coz Sylvie is Pregnant. The last time Emma kissed Dexter was in the first Episode so I feel like we can understand her here because it’s been so long since she saw him and the feelings are flooding back. You also missed the first kiss😂. She could hv slept with Dexter on so many occasions and she didn’t but now she is getting more confident.

yes the part in the story where our male lead gets his girlfriend pregnant and does the “right thing” by marrying her. his best friend (he always highkey wanted) gives him a goodbye kiss b4 his journey to fatherhood - time to grow up dex!! one thing about karma it always comes back boys ;)

First episode I cried
The kiss was very intriguing. I think Emma was somehow holding out hope (she had a look of disappointment when Dex said “friends again”) but maybe for Dex it was more of a “goodbye” kiss. Either way, it showed their situation was still alive after reuniting. Plus, the fact that it was a shotgun wedding indicated Sylvie and Dex’s engagement was not built on solid ground since they were getting married bc of the pregnancy.
Thank you guys, best episodes from now on. No complaints but did feel this review was a little rushed and clips were extremely short so it became a little jagged and frustating. Having said that still looking forward to your review of next 4 episodes. Thanks again for spending your time reviewing this.

In the book, there is a quote about love before every chapter. The dickens quote in Emma’s speech is one of those quotes, the writers scattered each quote throughout the script in different ways.

Twists of life. I felt such heart break for these two. I did not like Dex kissing ‘Em at this time but then I guess it allowed Em to know that he is locked. So w maybe she felt less threatened about her boundaries. Strange but understandable after their many mishaps with timing

You're very strict about cheating, lol. Once you have a bunch of miles on you you realize there are old loyalties, older bonds that pre-date your current life - which is really what this story is about - and you have to somehow incorporate them into your current life - and that's sometimes hard. and yeah, sometimes you just can't be friends with the person. Obviously these two love each other and Dex is now going to walk back to his fiancee and be a dad and he will always be looking back at emma ... and sometimes this is actually bearable, because you've accepted you can't be with that person. not everything works out the way you want it to - but it amazingly is not the end of the world. but again, these contradictions and complexities are less weird once you have a lot of experience.
Yes it’s not black and white. I can say that their kissing was wrong but I would have been more surprised if they didn’t kiss. They deeply love each other, and have been tied together for years. There’s closeness there that is not the same as a casual fling or hookup.
