Tefiti as Te Ka being angry that her heart was stolen is so sad and beautiful, and I love the moment when she was restored to herself
The lesson I took away from this is that understanding, empathy, meeting people where they are mentally, and love is what helped Te Fiti move past her trauma (Te Ka). Moana SAW her and created community with her - healing her. Causing more trauma through force, threat, and violence just moved the goalpost farther away.

I love Moana's development, but Maui's personal growth was amazing. From being such a vain, self-absorbed, borderline narcissistic demigod to becoming a kind-hearted and loving friend and mentor is awesome, plus hearing Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson sing is pretty damn badass. I love how they cast Nicole Scherzinger (lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls) as Moana's mother.

@@destinycantwaitit’s not about hearing it over the reactors it’s just being able to hear what’s going on between their reactions to keep up with the movie. When it’s turned up so much and they get loud it hurts my ears and I have to fix volume constantly.
To be fair, this is an issue I have with modern professional movies with whisper quiet scenes you double volume on to understand then have to cut down to half of your original volume setting when the scene changes to sometbing boisterous. wtf is with modern sound mixing 😂
This not only drew from polynesian myth, it also draws from actual history when anthropolgists found tgere was about a thousand year gap where Polynesians stopled exploring the ocean, with no real explanation why. Of course they eventually became voyagers again.
