Zoe bell is the stunt woman
Y'all should DEF check out Battle Royale. It's a Japanese movie from 2000 and it's as good (possibly even better) than Kill Bill. SO good and y'all will love it.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
The black and yellow jumpsuit is a nod to Bruce Lee...
insane how so few people know this
There are a hundred+ nods to a lot of 60's and 70's era kung fu and Samurai films.
How they didn’t know that is beyond me. I’m probably the same age as them and peeped it the first time I saw this movie as a child.
The music you hear before seeing in Uma in theYellow Black jumpsuit is theme from The Green Hornet. 60’s tv show that introduced Bruce Lee to the U.S.
I'm not saying I'm upset they thought of Bumblebee instead of Bruce, but... I'm also not saying my phone is without a cracked screen @@ibuprofriends
I'm surprised rob hasn't seen this one but yes watch Vol 2 asap.
Yes...especially as when it was released we had to wait six months to see the second part.
Yeah surprised that they had not watched it by now.
Yeah. And it was meant to be one film.
@@CrownlessKing88 But Tarantino didn't want to cut anything out so they decided to release it as 2 movies.
@@joemckim1183 correct
It’s crazy how many references from this movie permeated culture. People who have never seen it will say “kill bill sirens” as a phrase or know the pussy wagon from the telephone music video and not this. Just such a classic.
So iconic
That’s what made prime Tarantino so awesome, his movies were a pastiche of his influences which he re-contextualised for a new audience
God, I remember the amount of commercials alone that used that “Whoo hoo” song after this movie came out..
Totally, not to mention that everyone calls it HER suit, with no clue of the Bruce Lee nod.
Telephone music video?
Guys, Oren accepted her death from the moment the Bride revealed herself, thats why she won (also that's why she did not run away while the Bride was busy with her army, because she understood how revenge works, having been there herself)
Yes
She wanted a fair fight. You could tell they had respect for each other on a certain level.
@@sproductionsinc In MY personal head-canon for this saga, "bleep" and O-Ren were once good friends as well as respected colleagues. The "silly rabbit" exchange was a callback to happier and simpler times.
@@garytiptin6479 True. You could see when O-Ren apologized & she accepted that they both wished it could end differently.
I think it was more she wasn't the type to run from a fight, she never accepted her death
I believe part of the reason they did some black and white, the blue lighting and animated was to avoid the NC-17 rating from all the blood
Yes, the Japanese version is in full color as originally intended. TBH I like the black and white version more though.
@@KbearMcYumYums oh really?? I had no idea, thanks for the comment. The black and white really add to it for sure!
It's a homage to a classic Japanese movie that did the same move. Homage or rip-off. It's in the eye of the beholder. Tarantino pulls a lot of things from older movies.
Our rating system makes so much sense. A hundred murders and dismemberments gets an R as long as you have a few minutes of black and white. One full-frontal female nude shot on screen would be automatic NC-17.
@@747Cone LOL, ya think?? This movie is nothing more then "Come drink with me" + "Lady Snowblood".
41:32 - "Dude, who was the stunt woman for this movie??" That would be one Zoe Bell. Tarantino liked her so much that he wrote a movie specifically for her to star in: "Death Proof".
Zoe was a stuntwoman for Lucy Lawless in Xena. Warrior Princess..
hope they watch death proof eventually
Came here to say WATCH DEATH PROOF!! And to shout-out THE INCOMPARABLE Zoe Bell!
@@kelsosemail Me too!!!
Also put her in The Hateful 8 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She's a Badass
When Rob said "there's Lucy Liu" my mind immediately said "with my girl Drew, Cameron D. and Destiny!" 💀
Charlie’s Angels, come on! 😅
Haha! Yes! 😂
“Question!”
😂😂
tell me what you think about me?
Zuff, looking at a foot: "Does she only have five fingers?" 😂😂
It was the "only" that made me laugh out loud....as if the rest of us had more than five...hahaha.
i thought this said "zuff, looking like a foot" and I was like wow thats so mean he's not even ugly?? had to reread it lol
The thing about the Oren Ishii fight is that they both know how skilled the other is and therefore act with extreme caution. You can see it on the Bride’s face at the start of the fight. They know that every single strike is very likely to be the last and as such are very restrained in how they act. It could only be a quick fight, because they’re both samurai and a duel between samurai is precise.
Compared to other movies and even other scenes in this very movie, it’s one of the most realistic samurai sword fights. Quick, cautious, abrupt. A real fight with samurai swords is like a game of chess. One wrong move and it’s over.
Ya beat me to it. They wouldn't have given each other the opportunity to strike.
It's very similar to other sword duels throughout history. They're slow, pretty dull, & constantly stopping/starting because just one scratch could lead to an infection later on & then death.
52:16 Rob, Kill Bill 2 isnt really a sequel. Both films were one production and was supposed to be one movie. But they runtime was over 4 hours, so Tarantino split it in half, so he wouldn't have to cut anything out.
QT got into legal disputes with the cast, who were only paid for one movie's work.
The Bride may be killing her (former Viper squad colleague) darlings but Quentin ain't.
She didn’t dispense with O-Ren easily, it was akin to playing chess. Every movement of her sword or feet and she had to counter and every attack she made she knew O-Ren would know how to counter so she had to go through the strategy of motion to motion before executing the final blow. With this kind of fight scene you need to tell the story of their fighting strategies closing in on each other. Hence why O-Ren mocks her at the beginning but when she lands a blow, O-Ren recognises her opponent for the strategist she is and apologises. The final phase of the fight then takes place where they both know one of them is going to die by the end of the strategies playing out.
100% agree. I think they conflate the swiftness of the fight to mean it was easy, when in actuality there was a 50/50 chance of The Bride dying. Not to mention O-Ren could have killed Uma after she sliced her back, but let her continue the fight with honor.
The scene where The Bride fights off the Crazy 88's is one of the best action scenes ever made!
I had a feeling Rob would be giddy at the anime. You did not disappoint 😄
GoGo is my unhinged Queen rip 😂❤
Originally she was supposed to be one of identical twins .
She was my first girl crush lol
People actually do that to some coma patients. A woman who had been in a coma for a few years recently got pregnant.
🤮🤮🤮
That’s so awful and sad. People can sure be disgusting sometimes.
that's disgusting omg
That poor woman… my god
If it's the same one I'm thinking, she didn't just get pregnant, she gave birth. While still in a coma. That was when the hospital realized she had been pregnant. They got in a huge mess and the worker who got her pregnant was jailed.
Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 is my favorite Tarantino film. you HAVE to watch Vol 2 ASAP because they are essentially the same movie cut into two parts. btw, Uma Thurman's stunt double was Zoe Bell and she did an amazing job! can't wait for your reaction to Vol 2. 😃
People who love the action usually like Vol. 1 better than Vol. 2 because there’s a lot less action in the second movie. I like the second movie because there’s so much more story. But I hope you guys like them both🙏🏼
Though i agree that the actions are more in vol 1, but oh boy, I really do love the vol 2
@@raison_d_etre8 same! I honestly don’t feel like you can compare the two because they make one complete story so they’re both equally important
While the final battle against O-ren looks "easy" it's really trying to portray how a samurai duel actually looks (as real as can get in a Tarantino movie) precise movements, a couple of blows, the end, that's why it feels easy compared to the crazy shit before, because that crazy shit tried to evoke the super cheesy japanese action films of the 60s, 70s, it's just two different tones, but in reality it was the hardest battle for the bride that night, considerin O-ren is the only one who actually cut her and could finish her while she was in the ground.
I like to think that the last fight with Oren was so short because they're both very good assassins that they literally can't make a mistake, can't second guess any movement.
this movie completely had me flabbergasted. the worst things that could happen to a woman happened to her, she was betrayed by both friends and her love, r..ed, lost her baby.... such a great reaction as always 🎉
The stuntwoman was a baddie! She actually split the baseball in half
Quentin and Uma originally expressed wanting to do a volume 3 of Nikki’s revenge, all grown up going after The Bride. But unfortunately, Quentin announced his retirement and Uma has said that she’s doubtful that it would happen 20 years later. Now with it being 21 years later, it’s feeling more and more out of reach. But I’m still holding out hope. Would love to see Amandla Stenberg or Kiki Layne as Nikki.
This absolutely needs to done. Would be beyond GREAT ❤
Uma also had a huge issue with Tarantino, because she got injured in a crash driving the car in Vol 2, and it was him who forced her into doing it.
Honestly I’d love to see Zendaya play Nikki
@@marzblaq7267 yes! and she is a dancer so she'd be amazing doing this type of choreography.
It’s the perfect time now! Nikki at age 25/26 coming back for revenge. I would love to see it. That’s all I could think about when that scene was playing.
Rob imitating Quentin Tarantinos voice made me laugh unreasonably hard
Zuff: Does she only have five fingers?
Me: Those are toes, and is it not typical to have only 5 per foot? 🤦🏻♀️
I honestly wonder how elevated Zuff is for every video. 😂🤣
Lol, sometimes he’ll say something & I’m just like, “where the hell did he pull that from??”🤣🤣
I like that the idea of "the bride" was a creation collaboration between Uma and Quentin when they were filming "Pulp Fiction".
I also believe that "Fox Force Five" may have inspired this movie too.
@@bruceleeds7988- Yes. Mia Wallace’s character in her pilot “Fox Force Five” was “the deadliest woman with a blade.” Uma and Quinten developed the story from that.
You can immediately watch Part 2. Back in the day we had to wait almost a year! Johnny Mo (Head of the Crazy 88's) is the Martials Art Movie Legend Gordon Liu. Hattori Hanzo was Samuri Sword Movie Legend Sonny Chiba. Part 2 has less action but gives you the entire backstory of Black Momba and Bill (you even get to see Bill and learn "The Bride's real name!)
Ooh glad you’re all in for the next one soon!
The stunt woman is named Zoe Bell and she actually has a big supporting role in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. You guys should react to that movie if you haven’t seen it!
I have an elderly family member who basically experienced the violation Uma's character goes through at the hospital. She was repeatedly assaulted by hospital employees when she was bedridden and barely able to move. She's made peace with what happened but I know she really likes the scene where the dude's head gets smashed lol
This movie completely changed how i appreciated movies…I snuck into the theater when i was like 12-13 with my best friend who I went to the movies with pretty much every month.
The movie we were going to see we didn’t actually want to see it that bad and we missed the first 35 minutes so we decided let’s try that movie it’s just starting. We walked in right in the black and white opening. Sat in the back. And good thing we knew the old retired vet who was an usher on the weekends really well because he just let us go even though he clearly saw us.
One of the more memorable theater experiences I’ve had because I literally didn’t even have a clue what it was about what genre nothing. A true blind experience.
23:43 pretty damn good Tarantino impression lol
Calling out the placement of the outlets in Copperhead's kitchen is wild right after she just got stabbed through the heart
that was a good Quentin Tarantino impression lol. Great reaction like always!
So is bill the bad guy?
Shot her in the head while she was pregnant… 😂 the commentary never ceases to make me laugh.
The actor wearing the whistling nurse costume a.k.a. 'Elle Driver' a.k.a. 'California Mountain Snake' is portrayed by Daryl Hannah. Catch her in SUMMER LOVERS (1982) when you're in the mood for something racy. 🏝 When you want something silly, sweet and romantic, watch her in SPLASH (1983). 🧜♀ If you want her in an ensemble comedy-drama, don't miss STEEL MAGNOLIAS (1989)... and have tissues nearby.
Steel Magnolias makes me cry every time I rewatch it.
@@prayingbanshee It's so good, right?! 💎
This is such a iconic film uma Thurman perfectly cast Tarantino went into this full power just badass women insane fight choreography action sequences loved the reaction we need part 2 asap
Iconic movie, I’m so surprised Rob hasn’t seen it. Cant wait to see the reaction to Vol. 2!!
I have watched this movie over 20 times. Everytime I watch it, I fall in love with another aspect. Best movie series ever
The stunt woman was Zoe Bell. She’s an absolute legend and in a bunch of Tarantino movies. She was the woman in once upon a time in Hollywood whose car Brad Pitt throws Bruce Lee into
I hope they give Uma a role in John Wick 5. Just because she really deserves a spot up there in the discussion with badass action stars for this role and this role alone.
28:47 Bill is her former lover and her master in assassin work.
However, the Bride has another master who is like the freaking right hand of death. After getting through his tutelage, she is essentially Death’s handmaiden.
After kill bill yall NEED to watch inglorious bastards!!!! So many people in it you guys love AND the action/storyline is 10/10. And then of course, you have to watch Pulp Fiction…iconic. I know yall are gonna be speechless for both films lol
IMO it might be as good as Pulp Fiction, sometimes I prefer it over PF and vice versa.
“Does she only have five fingers?”
Accidental foreshadowing 😂
BEST Kill Bill reaction video I've seen to date (and I've seen my share).
Stoked for your reaction to Vol 2.
Please do the whole Tarantino catalog as a follow up to Vol. 2 as well
------@ 17:27 -------- ZACH: "does she only have 5 fingers?"
ROB: "We're looking at her toes there" --------- LMAO
Kill Bill 1 and 2 remain my favorite action movies, and I am so happy you guys enjoyed it!
Yes, Kobe did use the Black Mamba's logo as his inspiration for his own brand's logo
Great reaction! Zoe Bell was Uma's stunt double and is also in Deathproof and Malignant. The 1st fight with Vernita is still my favorite. Retired, out of practice and had the least amount of prep time but she still put in work. In Pulp Fiction, you'll hear where the Deadly Viper Assassin Squad's origin sort of came from. I think Quentin and Uma came up with the premise of this movie on that set.
This movie came out when I was in college for film school, can you imagine, my whole class of 17-18 year olds all went to see it together and it just BLEW our minds, the whole theatre was cheering and clapping and gasping throughout the whole;e film. I swear some of my friends teared up watching it. I went to see it four times in the theatre, One of my favourite movies of all time. Loved watching your reactions!
Every time I watch this movie I feel like I immediately have to watch Battle Royale after. Like when you’re so used to a playlist, you can’t hear one song without thinking of the next track 😅
the oren ishii monologue makes her my favorite character of both movies. i wish it wasnt cut out of the vid lol T^T
Quentin T. was thinking about making a prequel of the squad in their training days. “Silly Rabbit, tricks are for kids” - is quoted due to Uma & O-Ren’s close friendship but he didn’t want the two current movies to be weighted down
I'm so excited to watch you guys react to these great films!!
"is bill the bad guy?"
"He shot her in the head while she was pregnant"
lol
And I already want you guys to watch second part. That’s insane!
Lol. Just curious, why don't you guys pause the movie if someone has to use the restroom?
Rob's QT impression took me out 🤣! Surprised none of you have seen this series before. Should definitely watch Vol 2, different pacing but still on par with this one. I think Tarantino put the fight with Vernita first for pacing reasons as he knew the middle would be slower and ending on her fight after Oren's doesn't flow as well with the cliffhanger ending he wanted. If you want something equally as wild, "Grindhouse" which QT did with Robert Rodriguez contains two movies: "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof." Robert Rodriguez's "Sin City" is another classic. And yup, Kobe got his "black mamba" moniker from this movie🐍
You've gotta do Tarantino's Death Proof. It was part of a Double Feature called Grindhouse, along with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror. I've yet to see that one, but Death Proof was amazing. It was different, but amazing.
You have to watch Planet Terror! It's one of my favourite films, don't think you'll be disappointed
I hope, at the very least, we also get inglorious bastards 🤞🤞🤞
The Sheriff who inspected the Bride is played by the same actor who played Bill's father figure Esteban Viaho in Vol. 2. Blew my mind when I found that out recently.
Yep, that is insane!
And Gordon Liu who played Johnny Mo, (head of the Crazy 88), also plays Pai Mei in Vol 2.
Great movie! I own the VHS to this and would watch it constantly growing up. The "whistle" is also my ringtone 😅
YESSSS OMG I have been waiting for this reaction for so long!! Kill Bill is one of my favorites of all time!! So glad that yall did this!
i was literally just rewatching your fleabag reaction
I saw this movie 3 times in theaters within 9 days when it released. It was my favorite film for YEARS! Still in my Top 5 👏🏾 The soundtrack also bangs! Glad u boys liked it ⚡️
this movie is so culturally influential, a lot of shots/music drops where just referenced and meme'd in everything from the Simpsons to SNL (when it was good) etc
it was weird hearing so much of this movie from ages like 8-14 but never seeing it until I was old enough (it was my dads favourite movie too which will always hold a special place in my heart when we sat down to watch it together, I'll never forget that day)
This movie is a masterpiece! Vol 2 is amazing as well. Thanks for sharing. Was great to watch it again with you guys. Glad you enjoyed it. Xoxo from Brasil! ❤
i’ve been waiting for you guys to watch this!! you guys should definitely watch part 2 soon since it’s really an extension of this movie vs a sequel. when quentin tarantino made this movie, it was over 4 hours long and he refused to get rid of anything so he just split it into two parts, so part one and two are really one whole movie
I remember i rented this on blockbuster, and it was the first movie i was compelled to watch again immediately. Amazing.
Y’all need to watch vol 2 right away! It’s a 1-2 step!
I’m so glad you guys reacted to Kill Bill! I loved this movie growing up and it’s still one of my favorites. The soundtrack is amazing too. Great reaction and nice Tarantino impression 😂
Ngl, I never got over Lucy Liu’s death and how easily Uma won against someone who’s been training their whole life.
Going toe to toe with Oren after fighting a small army, nearly being killed by Go Go, having expelled a lot of her strength and energy... it does seem like she defeated Oren a little too easily. But then again, she's got her mission. She's deadly focused on killing everyone who wronged her. She has Bill in her sights and wasn't going to let anything or anyone stand in her way. But Oren would have been a great character to have around longer. I'd also have loved to have seen a separate animated series or something like that focusing on the origins of all the Deadly Viper's and Bill. Something like that would have been interesting.
BECAUSE Oren knew she had to die, having experienced revenge herself in the past. That's why she did not run away from Beatrix while she was busy with the crazy 88s.
Beatrix was trained by Pai Mei, so O-ren was going to get SMOKED eventually 😂🤷🏾♂️💯
It wasn't easy bruh, did it look easy to you.
Beatrix was fighting for her life in that fight, few more seconds and she would've lost
why are you assuming beatrix also didn’t study her entire life? lmao they clearly worked together so they were probably equal.
FINALLY! I've been waiting for this reaction in particular. One of my all time favs
I'm so glad you guys watched this! It's such a fun movie😊
Your reactions were so relatable too😅
Harmony Korine's "Mr Lonely" out of nowhere stops and shows nuns jumping from a plane
So glad you guys are finally watching this 😊 Vol 2 is my favorite out of these movies. Can’t wait to see the reaction ❤
The sounds effects and style are homages to the old Kung Fu classics.
What makes both Kill Bill movies awesome is that it's like a love letter from Tarantino to the classics, from Anime to Kung Fu movies, but it's more than aesthetic or stylistic choices, it has a solid story of revenge that is also multicultural and they all understood each other's codes and respected them as the high level assassins they were. Uma's character didn't owe sh*it to any of them after what they did to her, but she still chose to fight in an honorable manner especially with O-Ren Ishii. They had mutual respect and deep down they all knew she earned her revenge. This is obviously one of my absolute favorite movies, and Volume 2 isn't too far behind, i love both.
I was there in the theater in my 20s watching the transition from black n white, anime to a blue screen to "hide" the blood for the R Rating n being the one to start the applause... One of my repeat watches. Welcome to the club.
The stunt woman is Zoe Bell. She plays in another great Tarantino film, the double feature Grindhouse movie "Death Proof". Another must watch Death Proof first then Planet Terror by Robert Rodriguez. They worked on both movies together.
also the stanwoman for Uma was Zoë Bell and one of the reasons why Tarantino made Death Proof is for given her credit as actress and stanwoman because you could see her making all the “actions scenes” in the movie
not the "may thy knife chip and shatter" hahahahaha
3:53 I hope that means you guys watched Dune: Part 2 in theaters. Would hate for you to miss out on that beautiful cinematic experience just because you might wanna watch it on the channel. I saw it in IMAX twice and will go back again for the extended run! Can't wait!
Uma Thurman's stunt double for this movie was Zoe Bell. Before this, Zoe was Lucy Lawless' stunt double on Xena: Warrior Princess. Zoe is now an accomplished actor in her own right, her first role starring as herself in Quentin's movie DEATH PROOF!!
Kill Bill is basically a live action anime.
I loved watching your reaction to this movie, I can tell you really enjoyed it.
Surprisingly Kill Bill is the only Tarantino movie I ever liked (didn't like Pulp Fiction for example) AND one of my favorite movies of all time. I love how the shots are made with so much attention to detail and how every character's individuality and quirks are presented that you can tell they're all unhinged in their own way, yet they all exhibit extraordinary skills and self-control. And also that there's those two seemingly opposing ways of fighting - the classic mindless gore and the slow, intense and gentle martial arts presence - that are just perfectly mixed together in a bloody dance. I'm honestly not a fan of typical action movies but I've always felt like this one was so much more than that.
His best film is "Jackie Brown", in my opinion. Excellent cast. An interesting, if ultimately, unrealistic story. Fire soundtrack, interesting character development. I really love it.
I think she went after O-Ren first because she had the resources to gather a bigger army so she was the biggest threat.
Also she was already in Japan. She had to go there to get a sword from the master sword maker so why would she go there , travel to the US then BACK to Japan? It would be inconvenient to travel that much and why give O-Ren more time to prepare?
She says quite directly in the movie she goes for O-Ren first because she's the easiest to track, as she's a notorious yakuza boss in tokyo.
@@Viffido Yes and she needed the information (got it from Sophie) about the other Vipers
Funny fact: the black and white portion of the fight with the crazy 88 is supposed to be shown in color and actually was in some countries when it premiered. It was deemed too bloody and gory in the states, hence why it was changed. The og version is easy to find if you look it up.
'This might be my first Tarantino movie'
Brother, WHAT
STOP IT!!! So excited for this reaction!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
How can you be a huge Tarantino fan and not have seen Kill Bill? Lol
Every Tarantino is his best… they’re all phenomenal.. Jackie Brown is slept on
The movie is so iconic, on to vol 2! ❤
Back when this move came out, that whistle used to be my ring tone.
Volume 2 definitely needed
The song playing in the background while the bride is wearing the yellow jumpsuit is the Flight of the Bumblebee. It's origin is from the 1960s television series The Green Hornet and Kato co-starring the great Bruce Lee as Kato, Green hornets side kick. This movie is Tarrentino's homage to the 70s martial arts movies.
Stunt woman was Zoe Bell and she has some insane practical stunts in Tarantino's movie Death Proof. Also, QT made his cameo in the crazy 88 fight, but it's hard to spot. Get to Vol 2 soon!
Chill Bill was a bop !
Yall gotta do Oldboy at some point
