Go0dy is so incredibly based. Found a composition he liked years ago, stuck with it, disregards proper theory for his opening, and is apparently sitting just below GM from people suiciding into his tanks. What a legend.

What you don't understand is that Stalkers are made from broken Zealots. Heaven is just making sure he can make Stalkers in future ladder games. What other explanation could there be?

I've seen this strategy! Uthermal did this in a "1 Terran vs 10 Insane AI" challenge last year. He just hunkered down behind an army of tanks and waited for the AIs to a-move in until they'd literally mined out the map.
The Ai had better unit composition vs mech than our guy here 😂

As soon as i saw "why should i have to build air units" I knew that air would be the answer for winning the game but i had no idea just how bad it would be. Heavan knew the answer the entire time but refused to transition to air because he didn't want to and then still complains afterwards.
Such a weird question, especially at his level, feels like a bad joke. I don't know if I've seen zerg games be this inefficient. 30:30 more than double

I wish that these games wouldn't have such obvious flaws. Like yes you have an economy advantage, no that doesn't mean you can throw endless melee ground units into chokes at a pure anti-ground siege army that features two different types of splash

This is one of the best written imbalance complaint forms I've seen so far!
Considering how bad this game was, I don't know what to believe. The imba report feels so over the top conceited and flowery + such terrible plays as make moar a-move zealot/stalker run-bys feels like he's just trolling while intentionally playing badly. Bad observer management, no proper use of aoe's like disruptors or even early use of aoe's. I don't even think he could have gone wrong with voidrays.
I would even say he could have done some sort of cloak cheese like cloak a disruptor outside the detection line and bomb some tanks and move away. I don't know. But terran design is pretty stupid, like they have all these ridiculously good light units that deal ridiculously good damage to other light units, which light units have the bonus damage to, GET THIS, other light units like the hellbat, so it's no like you can just pile up adepts and kill the hellbats, but bad protoss. Probably played that way to make protoss look bad.
disruptors would've been pretty bad against tank banshee, its good vs cyclone or thors

I feel like this game has the sort of tragic decision-making that usually only good players make. New players usually get so hung up on what units counter what that they don't improve their macro, and lose to simple "more stuff beats less stuff." This game just goes to show that unit comps do in fact matter, and at no time is that more true than when facing mech.
goody was also alwqays up to play custom funmaps and just a fun guy to play with :)

@@ledrash6079 I disagree. Put a lesser mech player in Goodys situation and the garbage strategy of that toss would have worked. Just a little worse chokes, a litle worse tank positioning and the terran would have been dead. Tank based mech itself is not a good strat vs a macroing toss. Goody was at quite some points relatively close to being broken. With slightly worse positioning he would have been dead. It is due to his great positioning that he survived.

So i think its more about his failure, than the terrans' playing well. Sure, lesser terrans would have died, but lesser protosses might have won in that situation as well.
I think it's worth noting that Goody essentially had air superiority the entire game. His Banshees repeatedly went on the offensive and were supported by Vikings as needed.

I've heard the captain say "this was the worst fight i've ever seen" many times over all of IODIS (i've watched them all, no, I have no life), but in this video, there was a fight that surpassed them all EASILY; 6000+ resources lost in a single fight... I'm surprised the captain didn't flame the dude into oblivion beyond for 20 minutes straight after that fight 😂
Probably because unbalanced fights were frequent in that game. He basically took those -3000 trades every 2-3 minutes steady lol
I had a mass mine explosion that deleted 8400 resources worth of zerg army once. Game was at least couple years ago and I'm still happy about that. :D

Hellbats are not a WoL unit. They were added with HotS. So Goody in fact built two types of non-WoL units.

This game reminded me to that wings of liberty campaign mission where you had to defend the big laser drill from waves and waves of toss
It's amazing to me how many master/low GM players strategy against terran mech is to just pound their face into a wall over and over and hop to break through. Can you imagine how fast he could have transitioned to air toss if he didn't throw away so many units and had that income.

I played against Go0dy in the team liquid open a couple of years back. He went on to win the whole tournament!
Turtle mech seems exhausting. Goody was trading 5 to 1 the whole match and it took him half an hour to win because he never really attacked or expanded

Oof only Shield lvl2 upgrades when the majority of his army was Archons. Refuses to build immortals vs tanks. Refuses to build air units because of a commitment to gateways. Doesn't use the prism to find a weak point in the back.
Yes, if you constantly run into a spiked wall, you're going to end up as holes.
tbh, armor/shield upgrades aren't super valuable vs high damage burst units like tanks. vs marines/carriers/voids or any other low damage fast attack unit they are fantastic. it's better to have them than not, but its not super impactful as it doesnt reduce as much if that makes sense
but yeah a prism in the nat could've been good, i just kind of assumed there were a wall of turrets. even mothership into the main could've been good.

Having PTSD here watching this poor protoss try his best to crush a terran defense and failing miserably... we've all been there.
Also this time Harstem had little to say of his plays. He expanded, he got upgrades he tried attacking multiple places... The issue is, he needed to go air, and for me, that means it is imba 😅
or built any inmortal, or warp 16 stalker in the terrans mb and kill his production, or just mining the entire bank, making 40 gw and reaxing inmediatly, the protoss sucked
Little to say? He accurately pointed out that the protoss just threw away units endlessly, like he was purposely trolling. At most he attacked in two places at once and one of those attacks was always just an A-move. If you're going to try to break mech with only gateway units, using a prism and attacking in 3+ locations is a must. Real review of this game: Heaven was disrespecting Goody and playing bad on purpose because he thought he could win anyway. When he didn't win he decided to get some comedy out of it by submitting it here

I was yelling for the inevitable CIA transition with a sprinkle of tempest/carriers flank for 20 minutes lol. Jesus that was rough to witness.
Loosing to someone who has made 35 grand playing StarCraft isn't too bad. But still being almost pure gateway units only, 23 minutes in is. Crazy to see a Protoss basically begged to just make a ton of carriers and a click across the map and refuse to make tier 2 units let alone tier 3.
That imbalance complaint was art.

An NA GM was playing toss how a platinum plays toss. It's how I play toss so I would know.
Reminds me of my ZvT (mech) games from Plat league when I would just march roach/hydra into tanks repeatedly until I died
Goody always said he gets supply blocked because the number is so far away from the minimap. Goody used to always look on the minimap, like he was in his cramped tank cockpit not seeing all of the info.
Legend holds goody has played mech so long he has trancended the need for a barracks before factory.

Thanks for this one - I just started playing casually after over 20 years of not playing any games. Currently playing mech Terran just against AI to get back into it; beat intermediate after a couple tries, 25apm vs 148. Best I've had so far is 37.
That'll increase once I get back used to using camera hotkeys and do a few remaps (eg. Battlecruiser Y is way too close to T, utilize Q and W for armies, etc) but I'm thinking apm is a somewhat artificial benchmark... I guess I'll have to to diamond first to know for sure.
I'm using a Mac with Magic Trackpad 2 to attempt to prove that it's a viable tool - I hate mice.
Anyway shout out to all the old people out there who are still at it. : )

This episode was sooo funny, Harstem cracks me up. I do wonder if this was a playful troll from Heaven, because I'm sure a near GM player understands that zealot/stalker isn't going to take on a sieged up mech army head on. And even if he didn't know that, why try the same horrifically failed tactic over and over again... And the lack of targeting, doing little bits of damage to multiple buildings and not even focusing on the opposing army. This was really entertaining, but I think Heaven was just having a laugh.
Harstem headed to Disco-Tech right after this episode.
