Aha! I recognized my name in the thumbnail! I'm ready to get flamed. Also, I would like to say that I had planted 4 of the 5 mistakes... I forgot that overreacted is one word (whoops!) Since this game I have also improved by around 250 mmr and I am now in Diamond, so I also cringe at all of my mistakes. This was hilarious to watch! Jokes aside I really think this video will help me improve as a player. Thanks Harstem!

You can build hellbats in early game, while using gas for tanks and medivacs, and then start building mines or ghost for nukes, because nukes are awesome.

Funniest thing is that if you have faulty computer or bad connection, you want most simple to control armies so your computer or internet acting out doesnt immediately delete 50 supply. Yet he runs insanely micro intensive comp even with bad computer and opponent hard countering his army.
Well its actually more simple than that. In order to optimize things you want the least amount of calcations being done at once
Spamming out the lowest supply fastest attack rate unit doesn’t sound like the best choice does it?
I like the two options y'all have noted. A-move a large simple army and accept you have no power when the fight starts... or keep the fights small.
Our Terran player is actually bigger brain and realized the 3rd path. You can have a large controllable army so long as you don't cause calculations by attacking!
...but seriously, it was amusing to watch 3 Thors die to Zerglings and Banelings at a chokepoint (20:40) and they collectively fired a single shot. Move command OP. Plz nerf.
The best part is how he doesn't even make any splash at all just a 2-3 siege tanks which he never really sieges. Even ByuN wouldn't DARE play against zerg with no splash and he's a micro god
@@aaabatteries9948 byun would still probally beat zergs below 6k without any splash assuming the game doesn’t go late. If the zerg ever maxes out then idk if theres much you can do with like marine only

Am I crazy or were Hamster’s resource trade calculations inverted today? When void lost more resources he showed it as a positive in green, when void was ahead in a trade it was a negative and red

I am blown away by Hamsters editing ability - he adds all the useful information yes keeps it sarcastic & hilarious. Kudos.
Mainly his problem is that plat lvl micro is barely good enough for fighting banes with bio composition. He had better macro etc. its just the zerg plat made an a click army but the terran plat made an army that requires putting specific units in front, spacing them out, timing attack off creep etc. He just had to not make marines against banes basically and he still probably would have won. I have like the same lvl micro skill as this guy but im aware of it so i made it to diamond haha. If you cant split marines build more firebat/muaraders or just less marine ratio in general and keep them in front, tanks in the back. Unfortunately if you want to get past diamond though, you just have to not micro like an old man. Also great tip for plat terrain, just make like 5-10 mines and spread them all over the place randomly and in plat and down they will probably pay for them selves 20x over every single game and not even get killed. Mines are the banes of terrain in lower leagues. We all suck so will just not see them and keep running into them. At this level you could even go mass mine and theres no way anyone will trade with them efficiently basically because its literally just too hard to deal with in a reasonable time and also macro. Plat still has no micro just decent macro progression, insta kill units like mines, banes etc. are op as hell until like mid diamond.

@@Gamekraj just need to have continuous production from your factory, and add a second factory at some point, and make sure you add some tech labs and have enough marauders in your comp. Also, switch from medivacs to libs when your medivac count is high enough. If you find yourself with a pure marine army against banelings, fungals, or ultras you're beter off dropping his mineral lines and main base or something than trying to take a big fight.
I had to do an IQ test for a job interview once, later I was told my score was probably the result of a cheat (wasn't even that high or suspicious) and overall that test which took me about 30 min has never been relevant in my job

I love Hamster's edits. And I think the Captain was also feeling it today a bit better than usual (my opinion, maybe it's just me). This was one of the best IODIS episodes of all time :D GGs to everyone involved, pure comedy and totally relatable XD

Scouting barracks gave me an BGMWSS idea: Win with a terran push that has a bunch of barracks flying with the army to provide visual and a-move cover for the army below.

I can agree with Void that Marines are tier one, but that only applies if you micro them. Their ability to counter their own hard counters with enough micro is kinda insane, but I guess APM is a resource too.

void play style is similar to how ppl play broodwar, building scout, build the same units and stick to it, with masive production building. because in broodwar control the units properly is more advantage than building the right counter to an unit, there isn't really a counter for a sepcific unit of a specific race. this is why it is quite broing to watch broodwar match, there is not much unit shift of stage of countering, imo

You are correct! I used ViBE's b2gm for this, and I did not micro as he said not to. Still lost though
@@Gamekraj Everything you did wrong could be explained by the vibe guide tbh. It's not a bad guide, at all, but sometimes you'll lose and not understand why; since you only make that 1 comp and it can be hard countered. If you don't want to micro too much yet, or don't feel confident enough to micro yet, my advice is to try to start adding more marauders against ling/bane and ground toss.
And don't worry, your macro was good enough to get out of plat. Some games will be frustrating, but you'll win more than you lose, for sure. All this from a guy who used b2gm to get to diamond on every race but Terran, because bio with no micro is really fucking hard to win with.
@@Gamekraj maybe you could try vibe's 2019 b2gm mech build just for tvz. thor hellbat can definitely carry you through metal leagues for tvz
also, i think harstem went way too hard on you. you're a metal league player following a 2 year old guide that doesn't accurately reflect the skill floor of the league you're playing in anymore and you followed it quite well.

This kinda reminds me of a game I played over 10 years ago on ladder. I was zerg and the terran opponent was doing nothing but sending masses of marines at me with basically no micro. I just kept pushing him back with ling/bane until I eventually teched up to ultras and crushed him, but not before he complained about zerg imbalance. I suggested that maybe he should build something other than marines, to which he replied something about my mother. So he was a nice, friendly chap.
OH! Harstem and Hamster are still at it, for some reason I had thought IIIODIS was no longer happening... this is a welcome surprise!

Widow mines would destroy platinum, no? Nobody is expecting a plat player to split marines and focus down banelings like Byun, but a zerg plat is also just going to run large clumps of ling/bane into mines.
I'm in Plat and had a widow mine gat almost triple digit kills in a ZvT. I'd burrowed it near my opponent's third for some map vision and kind of just forgot about it. I only noticed at the end of the game when my army was walking by and I clicked on it. I guess he just never had an overseer with his army.
From experience, yes, widow mines destroy Platinum.
I'm glad my Terran opponents rarely have the intelligence to build them.

Wtaching more into the video, his playstyle (minimum micro, i.e stim and leave it) also seems to be in line with vibe's b2gm.

@@aeku_69420 Ah cool haha, I've never been a huge fan of PiG but would you recommend him? I watched a few of his lower level b2gm videos and I prefered ViBE's, but I'm open to suggestions
@@Gamekraj also if i may offer a bit of criticism, along with what harstem said in the video, if you want to do this playstyle you need to drop and do some sort of multiple prong harassment. You also tend to look at the fight but not micro it which is kinda the worst of both worlds. His philosophy really only works if you constantly produce and expand like a mad man. Also you should definietely pick better angles to engage in.

Btw, Harstem, give some credit to this guy, he isn't just saying "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ZERG IMBA", he actually asks what to do, this is very respectable and something most of the players including myself don't do even if they should.
I've been playing sc2 on a crappy laptop for a very long time, I can assure you, it's actual torture. Lags, 10 minutes of loading in menu, in customs(you can spend another century waiting for the map list to load) and the other unpleasant things, you'd never want to run into. Good thing I no longer have this problem.

A friendly advice in case you're Void from this IODIS: you probably should consider playing classic mech, because it's not pulling your fingers out by necessity to outmultitask your zerg and it's very unpleasant to play as a zerg against. I've been at every position: zerg playing vs bio, zerg playing vs mech, terran playing bio vs zerg(if you're not ready for twitchy gameplay, dont do it, because at the times you will play seemingly futile(as it feels) style barely dealing damage because you pick up as soon as any group of combat unit shows up then again, you will not be sure who suffers more: zerg who has to split and react at different sides, or you from heavy feeling, that you are merely outplaying yourself by not doing anything) and terran classic mech vs zerg. The last one is good. It's solid, it's more about how you plan and position, you can learn openings for it, reaction to different zerg behavior, composition and then the world is your oyster, when you get a feeling of it.
Good luck. But take my words with a grain of salt for I am a protoss main.

Says he maxes out at 10m but it's really 11m (yes it makes a difference). For point of reference, ViBElol's B2GM series has you max out at 11m in Bronze. In Plat you're supposed to be under 9m. Considering how passive both sides were, that would have been extremely easy to accomplish.

Both sides play extremely passively and the zerg takes advantage of it by taking 8 bases, while Terran is slow to expand despite being under almost no pressure at all.
I'd like some pro protoss get defeated by Serral at a major tournament and sends it to Harstem and he is like "Yeah, it's completely imbalanced, that's all true. Blizzard buff protoss."

Around that level of MMR or a little more if you play terran and don't learn how to split your units and control a bit better your army you are going to get wiped by ling bane all the time. Even if your macro is better than the zerg. Then, if you learn how to play vs ling bane you get a huge advantage against most zerg up to a higher level in which they learn how to macro very well and how to survive your pushes. I went from a 30% winrate vs zerg when I was plat to a 75% winrate when I reached diamond by just spliting my units and being careful to don't get surrounded by ling bane on creep.
Maybe the hotkeys other than the marine don’t work. And his mouse won’t move to that area of the screen. But honestly, I always upgrade to bigger units and I wonder why I’m stuck at silver. 😢
DId Hamster make a mistake when showing the units lost? It shows that the zerg lost more but it says -xxx in red. Shouldn't it be green, since the fight went in the Terran's favor?

starcraft 2 isn't an easy game. but surely people of any level can understand that you have to split against banelings, and if you can't, they're just gonna get great value and probably win the game for Z. that's fine! we aren't all great at every game. or any game! but like, how confused can you be to lose that way?
Never really got into pvp in starcraft personally, it just didn't gel with me, but at the time I gave it a shot, I just went marine only personally.
I knew it wasn't that great, but with me being objectively terrible at the game, I needed to dumb it down to the bare essentials, and it was suprising how far pumping out early and constant marines actually got me.
I love how I'm watching it normally, and now there's fucking random blueberries XD

My fav part of the complaint was that zerg gets to tech. Man, if only the terran had a way to tech. Too bad it's impossible and they are forced to keep building unending barracks and marines.
