New series idea: Handing low ranked games over to pros at the 15 minute mark to see if they can pull off a comeback. For added challenge don't let the pros watch the game progress.
I feel like it'd be super easy unless the killing push was coming at the 15:01 mark.
9/10 bad players are banking minerals so taking a minute to actually just spend everything relevant alone would turn things around.
Harstem already did a series where he took over hard losing pro games right before the game winning push, played as the loser and had randoms take over winning side and he still won most of those games, pros vs low ranked ladder games would be an absolute stomp. The skill difference is just too big.

@@mishazerg He did a few videos, looking back he didn't appear to give it a series name. "This game is IMPOSSIBLE To win..." from December 16, 2022, and "A DIAMOND Player Takes Over FROM SCARLETT's Win" from December 6, 2022 are the only two I could find.
From what I remember, the people that took over generally made the grave mistake of just not A-moving, and from the winning position tried to play carefully and control their armies. Which, naturally, isn't going to work when you're playing against literally one of the best players in the world.

18:39 ok this was actually kinda humorous. Abducts a tank, but without any ranged units to kill it so he sends in lings. Lings get shelled because they just ran into the range of other tanks. Pulls back the lings before killing the tank, which now has effectively been abducted into a more advantageous position for shelling zerg army. Realizes this, in a panic sends in a flock of banes from the other side of the map to kill this loathsome tank. Banes get roasted on their way in to the tank, which dies with one bane while the rest turn to finish getting roasted by the hellbats. Lol

If they got to the hellbats, that would work. They'd take long enough to die to get in range and kill the hellbats, where the follow-up lings could help chew through the rest. Instead they all hit the Thor, who ofc tanked them like a champ.
Holy crap, the production value level skyrocketed again, quite impressive Captain and Hamster. This really is the premier starcraft series on UA-cam, I hope it never ends!

He played Zerg in a classic mech style (sitting back to max) against a classic mech composition.
Lets be honest here, if only reliable counter to some unit is to build caster who can steel that unit its not ok.

Being an octopus would actually be a disadvantage, because they only have eight arms with no fingers whereas we have two arms and ten fingers, effectively meaning we have two extra means with which to use the keyboard and mouse.

I used to rush overlord speed like him too! I had problems with scouting so i made overlord with speed to make the scouting easier.
Hands down the editiing is god level - the choose your race absolutly made my day

Quick tip if anyone encounters this mech style on ladder: just rush swarm hosts, preferably with a nydus.
Without air, the mech can't deal with the swarm hosts for quite a while, and the swarm hosts will just remove all the tanks and from the terran army, letting you drone up to ridiculous levels and just send 200 banelings at the 12 minute 2 base mech push.
Don't they just A move into your base since your resources are now tied to a mass of units that can only fight once in a blue moon?
@@HellecticMojo nah. Too slow to push across the map, you can drop a wave as they leave and you'll have recharged by the time they get anywhere.
Yes they would kill half of your drones with helions and you could do nothing against it.
@@melhute.4715 you have queens to defend hellions. Or you could mass roaches after you've gotten 10 or 12 swarm hosts seiging the terran, picking off tanks amd tech labs as much as they can.
Plus, without many hellions at home, killing off the locust waves becomes way slower, getting you even more damage.
It's not going to be your composition for the rest of the game, but it doesn't have to be, you beat the terran up so much youve gained an unbeatable advantage, so long as you don't throw 1000ings into hellbats.

I don't see how you are mass roaching after tying that much resources up with swarmhosts. The terran's production would be insane by the time you pull both of those conditions.

I wanna see someone actually win at this and not suck. Like a solid game, doesn't have to be GM's. Say low masters. Where they both do basically everything right for the most part, it's a close game, but some unit or unit combo of a particular race is overly difficult to react to whereas its relatively easy to do for the opponent.
If you find a replay below GM where Zerg was able to beat mech Terran - please tell us. I am searching for a long time now but I think it simply does not exist.

in this game a nydus into the main with zergling with more scouting would have won it. but i abolutly understand in this situation overload
There was literally point zerg could have won if he just macrod during one fight. I believe the first big bane roll in followed up by the ravages clearing tank Thor the zerg was sitting on a huge bank with a ton of larve that would have arrived in time to clean the scraps and even potentially go to the other side of the map.
Also he was really gas starved as lings don't impact this game much if they're not banes or ravagers they could have used the fifth base purely for gas.
God those videos wouldn't be the same without Hamster

To be totally fair I agree with this Zerg player. Half of the terrans I see do nothing but camp 2-3 base which you can’t attack into until hive tech OR a Tremendously risky all in. By the time 6 minutes rolls around and you have high eco they have already made an army you cannot counter (say 5 tanks and any amount of hellbats to counter lings. And a couple banshees or cyclones to make you waste roach ravager.
You say to counter the hellbats with banelings but then they get countered by the tanks or thors (or a pack of cyclones). Is there something he could have done? Yes. But it requires 5x more effort from the Zerg player. Then the terrans hunker down waiting for you to make a mistake.
I can positively say my Zerg is miles better than my Terran. But every season I raise them to close to the same mmr. The point higher level players do not understand is that yes Zerg CAN beat this stuff. But the game sense and mechanical requirements have to be roughly twice as high as what you are facing.
Id argue the game has gotten to the point Zerg players are so crazy good blizzard was forced to balance around them. Leaving everyone below masters to fend for themselves.
surely you dont ever cancel ling speed there right? especially if they dont aggro you are gonna love the map control it gives, and its a cost effective cyclone counter if they want to move out with those? isuck tho just curious awhy you would
You 100% suspect aggro because he's doing 3 factories. Also runbys aren't really a thing against two base terran. Can't really run by when there's nothing to run by. You also need disproportionate amount of lings to make it across 3 factories worth of tanks. Better to get ravagers with resources saved in that early of a game.

@@norberthiz9318 The thing is that on such an aggressive opener everything matters. Yes the lings will be more useful if he survives the all in, but how are you going to survive the all in if you don't have the ravagers to survive the all in?
If the opponent goes all in on offense, you kinda have to go all in on defense if you scout it out. tbf the opponent went really weird with it, but the point is that he scouted heavy tech heavy mech aggression stance and he should perceive it as such.

But this was masters and the build was pretty bad itself plus wasn't executed all that well either, it also wasn't that commited with the 3rd CC behind it. I think the ling speed is such a small thing at this level in a situation like this, that you can't really blame the guy for it
@@HellecticMojo You dont see reactors though. If you do suspect aggro isn't having lings very good? they eat cyclone tank for breakfast whereas pre roach speed your roaches get obliterated, pure ravager will especially be very cost inefficient.

Zerg was actually AHEAD and with outlooks of winning until 14:07 when he excellently flanked the Terran force with Banelings and killed EVERY. SINGLE. HELLBAT.
Unfortunately, he followed that up with reluctantly pulling his Roach/ravager force away, instead of *just directly pushing it forward over the Terran force for the win.*
Maybe he wanted to wait for his vipers so that he could make himself look more fancy? Except that he STILL used them wrong, and could have actually finished off the T *WITHOUT* them... :P

The opponent, NetMecH, is known for bming after games. He usually send bm invites or chats after winning a game, especially after his opponent tabs out without gg. he also cheese a lot.

Can someone explain why cancel lingspeed when you get the information that it's gonna be a low hellioncount? Because of mines or are a few hellions enough to deal with lings?
Because only helions can harass you (and you need ling speed only to defend harass). If no helions you're in no danger, you can just save your gas for the big terran push.
a handful of hellions/hellbats will decimate zerglings and you don't need the speed that early so it's better to put the money towards roaches and ravagers. Ling speed could be taken later for run bys or to overwhelm the enemy if you've dealt with the tanks and hellions. Thors struggle against lings.
i actually thought this was kind of sus advice, if you know the push is going to be hellion light, i would think that makes lings better, not worse. but wtf does a Diamond scrub like me know
@colinreuter well that's just it. They have no reactors, so it's not going to be much hellion harass. The mech player will be going primarily for cyclones and siege tanks if they don't take reactors. Lings won't help against siege tanks.

Vipers with abduct are great at dismantling tank lines.

Tanks and thors can't help their buddies out fast enough if they keep on getting abducted.
Also he says uncontested 15 tank build up. Harstem kept on remarking on how exposed terran's 3rd was. One of major downside of mech is how incredibly slow the core forces are, which really cuts into the ability to defend like say a ling runby if you know that the opponent had a death ball of tanks midfield. His banes going into the hellbats while the unmutated cracklings dive in would also be a possible strategy. Or just faster broodlords. Or earlier proper upgrades for units in use.
There were lots of little things that eventually turned the game unsalvageable.
If Harstem knew the answer he would not lose 95% of his own zerg games vs mech. 6k MMR Zergs use viper+abduct and they use the terrain to protect the vipers vs the thors. Or they multitaks and flank with lings/banes from 3 different sides. Both solutions need unbelievable good micro. For players below 6k its simply not beatable unless the zerg is 500 MMR higher than the terran.

Honestly, I think the zerg played quite well. His opponent was a solid seven hundred (700) MMR above him though! I'm sure the zerg beats mech players of his own caliber pretty easily so where's the imba?

Its so sad,that Mech terran could be imba against zerg, but this dude is just bad.Terran setted giant army of hellbats, which most annoying part for terran, is their speed, which mean, easy baneling target. And zerg goes into 4 mutas, while 4 mutas could do almost nothing,arent they have sense from 5 as a harass? I can understand attacking into army after catching all cyclons but dude just ignored it. He doesnt make any injections, or placing macro hatchery, i know as a bad player, that if you cant remember to use queens for more spawn things, you need to place hatchery for it, so you can spend your money, especially when you at 2000 minerals.
I just little bit ago understand how much does one building and upgrade cost, it may be not much, just 1-2 roaches or 3-8 lings, but its actually a LOT in mid-early game.And mostly i loved rushing full grades before making giant army, which is fun, but bad decision.I won early games only because of stupider opponents, or discovered cheeses that i beated and had leftover army.
I wrote this after Its so sad, but i think it will move away from the theme too much there.: i think terrans mech kinda op and imba against Zerg, but just when it Tanks+Tors+Cyclons.They counter like everything that Zerg have. Ultras and lings? Tanks and tors will kill. Air? Mass will be killed by splash tors. Not mass, by single attack tors. There is also Cyclons that help with it, and help to move on map and bait into your possition , taking something from opponent. Scans dont requare unit, so you can check map for spoting infestors and killeng them before, due to tank range. Also there is turrets against them. What else, roach, hydra, gets killed by tanks, and we left with only swarmhosts? Mb they will work, i werent able to test it. I am too bad at the game and my video card is pretty old.

hmm, I would of built ten mutas, if I accidently built a spire, and only saw helbat/ tank.. and one cyclone... just to get as many free kills before the first thor... those mutas were idle for so long nad he could of built more, I am nto sure why he is not spending money, looks lieka queen inject problem, if you can't inject, or don't like lots of queen management, then go macro hatchery.. is a must... lurkers are also good against ground mech.. becasue of their slow speed. in combination with lurker position on hold.. to then a banneling run over top can be great. hmm

Mech is notably considered easier to use than bio. It's usually just less effective than bio damage wise
@@HellecticMojo control wise its easier but composition is limited and locked, if opponents know how to counter mech the terran will die easily , you can see why the pro scene dont use mech much as bios
@@teeee8534 hard to use vs hard to win are different things. Mech is considered much easier to use for terrans.
The Terran was not even able to step out of biles. But in terran vs zerg its sufficient to siege some tanks or burrow some mines and A-move all the rest. While the zerg needs multitasking as well as perfect macro and micro. (Why did the banelings not connect the hellbats? Because 10 banelings can die with one tankshot if you dont have the micro of a 6k mmr player). This kind of race imbalance ruined the game on lower levels. And of course this also affects the pro-level. If fewer and fewer people play the game itself then fewer and fewer people are interested in watching professional Starcraft. Too bad, it could be such a good game.
Might want to submit an Imba complain then ? If this one, that was judged wrong, was unsufficient

imo, if you want a bubble gum chewing army sitting until you are at max, jsut play terran; If you want ot apply pressure and keep busy, play zerg. If you want a vacation play protoss, that species literally plays itself. anyways.. that is the general rule of thumb, but obviously... playing ever species like zerg is optimal... A zerg that values a bank, doesn't serve the overmind..

if netmech were unlucky in dia 3, some 2 base zerg muta rusher would have ended him 5 mins into the game, chancless with his 1 cyclone as a master
4:07 ive done the overlord speed first before......... its a fear build.... not a player named fear.... but being afraid of not knowing whats happening... and deciding.... "fuck it!" You wanna hide shit?!?!?!? Im going to find out and know, the entire game what youre doing.......... and ive lost many games with that mentality because sometimes knowing "too soon" whats coming... can really mess up the zerg player. You start predicting things that dont really exist yet..... and that can be bad for a zerg as they need to be more "reactive".... usually for a frustrated zerg player.... they will do these sort of weird builds after losing 5 games in a row with a more standard opening... and almost quit or break the keyboard or monitor in a rage 😆😆😆😆 so they start doing stuff like this.......... which is confusing themsleves more than anything, because.... well....... sometimes you win those games and start believe its a good build 😒🙄🙄🙄
