Last week I saw a Bajaj Qute and Jimny running side by side and back to back. Amazingly both are looking similar from back view. I just thought about those who spent 18L on Jimny😂
One thing majorly noticed in India car market is people doesn't value good quality cars and then complain manufacturer don't bring or manufacture good cars in India.
the underpowered engine sure is a problem. Should’ve been a 200+ nm in torque for sure, power though I think is sustainable as long as the torque curve is good enough.
But its more practical..It can cruise at 80 to 100 without much fuss..It can carry 5 people including a child and luggage for weekend trips,it bas better ride comfort than Thar,it beats thar in offroading ,it has added safety like 6 airbags from base variant itself and its a proven machine globally unlike Thar that is an Indian jeep copy..
@@rishitsinha8041 jimny came into existence even before benz thought about G wagon..1st gen Jimny was launched in 1970. While G wagon came only in 1978..The current gen is an evolution of 2nd gen Samurai..Its Gurkha that is Indian copy of G wagon..Not Jimny..
I was born in a remote village of uttarakhand.. and right from childhood i have been witnessing the capabilities of mahindra jeeps and utility trucks which are still the life line of remote hilly areas... a suv should have basic 2 characterstic first a torquey engine.. second water wading capacity. I have also seen the capqbilities of a gypsy it belonged to a completelly different and unique segment it was a perfect all terrain vehicle. the light weight and a powerful engine made it perfect choice for car rallys. jimny stands nowhere close to the gypsy.. one more thing to add gypsy had a mileage of 7,8 kmpl.
The two types of people you mentioned is extremely accurate, I ride motorcycle predominantly and often see people drive this so called mahindra's thar like a maniac on busy streets. It has become sort of royal enfield of cars, drivers probably feel like a king when they drive it but in reality we know their so called 'aukaat'.
Yes dear you r right here in mumbai i see a lot of Jimmy drivers especially from South mumbai driving like maniacs while travelling to lonavla, alibaugh and other tourist destinations.
What people dont realise they dont perform so well on normal highway/city roads. I was fascinated by thar, post review and test drive ended up buying a honda city .
What you feel yourself is what matter the most though. One should care about what others think of the way they dress or the vehicle they drive as long as it makes them feel good.
Test drove jimny today! It's sort of a little powerful Omni! The onrad is around 17L. The GST of 38% has made it over priced and road taxes add it around 20% over it!
Jimny could have been a game changer for Maruti but the pricing ruined everything. Imagine spending 18 Lakh for Jimny, You can literally buy a Thar 4x4 Petrol for 16.5 Lakh.
@@srikrishna2561let's be honest here thar or gimny most of these cars will be driven on tarmac roads that's why RWD thar exists hardly very niche amount of people will actually do off roading with it for the masses it's all about that 4×4 image or fad
The huge advantage of jimny is its narrow size, which a lot of people seems to be missing... Thar does look butch.... But cannot do most of the offroading mainly because of our narrow offroading tracks...
Weight is the most important factor behind Jimmy's off-road prowess. It's so light compared to other real SUVs. Power to weight ratio is actually great. But I agree that it is massively overpriced, even though I own one too. Its saving grace is that it performs very well in the poor roads and remote hill terrains of my state.
This is basically the same as saying, The huge advantage of Redmi is its heating. A lot of people seem to be missing, other phones may seem great but cannot warm our hands during winter like redmi does. 😆
yes, i will buy only the initial madness dies down and maybe after a couple of years when it fills up the used car market.. as this will not be a primary car but be used specifically for rural use
@@debasisghadai3633it isn't. In the video itself you've seen that some variants of Thar are cheaper than Jimny despite having a bigger and extremely refined engine. I personally don't like jimny for those small tyres which reduces it's performance in off-roading.
if today we didn't have bs6 then maruti would have proudly given the national engine of India the 1.3 turbo and enjoyed a lower pricing and great power even if I consider bleak future of diesels
The main reason why it feels overpriced is that it is meant to be worked upon! Jimny is a highly customisable vehicle and if the price was lower, customers could have enjoyed putting money on this car to make it even a better offroader!
@@amitkrupal1234 Above the taxation and other charges, The Jimny's 4*4 hardware the " All grip pro" is imported which is a main reason that it's not priced aggressively!
We can agree with Old gypsy but not jiminy for 15lac you buy a car has symbol of satus and power and good road presence in return for when you take Jimmy to any hotel or on road nexon seltos have good road presence than this thin 😂😂😂😂
I was myself contemplating buying jimny but i thank my intuition which somehow kept pushing me towards XUV300 and Nexon. I'm glad I bought Nexon especially after watching Jimmy's interior space. God is indeed there somewhere because that's how he protected me from investing 14 lakhs on something in which all 4 occupants can sit comfortably for long distances.....
@VAIBHAVMALHOTRA19 I wasn't looking for an offroader, I was looking for a beefed up hatchback, that can do some offroad if required and can seat 4 people in comfort over 700 - 800 kms a day road trips every 4 to 6 months as well as do 10 kms of daily home to work to home commute in city traffic.
Jimny's small size is an advantage when it comes to off-roads.... On small roads, where bigger vehicles can't go, Jimny goes everywhere. Engine power could have been higher though.
Yes jimny is good for off-road. But price is high for those who really need it. Those in rural areas really need off-road vehicle for daily use. Those in rural areas don't need fancy things. They don't even need power windows, defgogers, alloys, etc. If it could cut the price of jimny. Those buying jimny are city people only who have money. But jimny is not so good for city use in comparison to the money spent on it.
Nice review!! Jimny is overpriced by approx 2 lacs. One advantage that you didn't mention is 5 doors. But once Thar launches 5 door option, even Thar's price will go up by 2 lacs or more. Still i feel Jimny starting range shouldn't be more than 10 lacs ex showroom.
Jimny does what it had to do, simply great, extremely reliable offroader and amazing aftermarket customisation options as it is an international model, thar on the other hand is only india based therefore major offroading brands don’t have any accessories for it.
Majority of Indians want a showoff vehicle like thar and scorpio but those who have real knowledge and experience about off-roading will understand why Jimny is great productin that price range also.
@@user-dp48ry5that's why Jimny is released for off-roading customers not egoistic showbazi admi & don't comment like this & say we are Indians we only do ustaadigiri it will show an bad image of india across the globe

@@mr_robot_tech exactly, it doesn’t matter what those people think cause they’re what’s wrong with car culture in the first place. People who actually know cars won’t ever have a shadow of doubt regarding jimny.
Good analysis. TBH I believe the only reason for it being overpriced is Maruti's inability to understand the enthusiast market in India. The Jimny is a lovely product that's been priced basis the hype generated. The market exists for a city runaround with a robust chassis (given the conditions of our roads and safety of our traffic) that will do off-roading duties once in a while. Jimny could do that. However it's too expensive just for those uses because the engine is puny for highway runs (we have to drive long distances to reach the mountains) and the interiors are bare bones. Also, it will be a hard sell for the people inclined to the Thar cuz of the macho-showoff not being there. The Jimny is small and cute instead. Which leaves pure 4x4 enthusiasts and rich mountain people. How big a market is that?
Even then waiting period is very long because Maruti knew how much sales they were targeting. This car wasn't meant to improve Maruti's profit but to create Maruti's image as premium segment car manufacturer which is a long term strategy.
Great comparative analysis. I feel Jimny would be suitable in tight hilly roads only. Like the North East of India, hill stations etc. They should at least improve upon the water wading capacity.
if i'm not wrong the turning radius of jimny is greater than thar even if it is smaller than thar and many other cars, which is a great factor in hilly region. correct me if i'm wrong
People complaining about Jimny being overpriced, small engine, outdated suspension and these same people will buy iPhone for double the price of a normal phone. People have seriously have mental problem.
Precise, concise, usefull research, your hardwork appear clearly, very different from otherpaid carvlogs those are just marketing tools for companies....keep it your honest efforts..comman man always like this type channel as real information channel.in short lambi race ka ghoda😊
Agreed Jimny is bit overpriced in Indian context when compared to the snob value of Maruthi Suzuki in India. But it is an International product which is real tough offroader which will last a very long time with proper maintanence. It is a go anywhere offroader with ladder on frame chassis, solid axle front and rear suspension and with mechanical 4×4 transfer case. Please dont compare it to other vehicles in Maruthi Suzuki stable. Expecting the 3 door Jimny to be launched which is a comapact mini offroader and is much more well proportioned.
@@debasisghadai3633 Exactly. It is not at all overpriced. You can check the price of 3 door Jimny in international market. In some countries it is more than double the price of our 5 door Jimny. There is some much demand for 3 door Jimny in International market that there is a long waiting period. It is the mantality of majority of Indian customers who are only seeing everything based on practicality, mileage and cheap price. This is compact vehicle(3 door Jimny) which is internationally acclaimed and built for purpose. I was just writing general suggestions.
Jimny is a bit overpriced but not like an absolute looting from the company like people are saying. Its because people here have a habit of judging vehicles accordingly to sizes. Compare Jimny's Alpha (13.7) with Thar's Diesel LX Hard Top (15.3). For 1.6 Lakh Cheaper price tag, you get something that is more practical, spacious and has bigger usable boot, is more reliable, has decent milege for Petrol (much better then Thar petrol), better service network and on top of that, has more safety features ,slightly has more tech and is same or more capable then Thar with a simple Tyre upgrade (Check out offroad videos). And yes, about the Size, whats the use of increasing your possibility of getting stuck in a parking or traffic problem due to bigger size and still not offering good practical space? The two major compromises are Safety built quality and engine power compared to Thar. People are expecting a Ladder on Frame 4x4 Vehicle in the price of a Hatchback which is crazy. And especially the people who cancelled Jimny for RWD Thar dont deserve both vehicles anyway. RWD Thar is useless, it's an Offroader with its own compromises compared to Urban vehicles but without the main offroad feature itself. Why not opt for a Compact crossover instead? Pure showoff model. Unlike the 4x4 models which are totally built for a purpose. In the end, i would say its just an opinion of mine.
9:40. Wrangler bhi front me solid axles Istemaal karti he aur woh kaafi expensive model he. Simply because Jimny is purpose built purely for Offroad, show off ke liye nhi bana he.
@@debasisghadai3633 Weight might be a factor, but then how come Tata Prima truck has only around 1200-1500 nm torque? That thing weights over 20 tons. Weight does not always depend on power.
I'm a Thar owner and I had booked Jimny because of it's mileage and 5 doors. I was almost about to sell my Thar before Jimny came in the showrooms so I could get a good value on it. I'm glad I didn't sell my Thar. Here are the factors that led to cancellation of my Jimny booking... 1. There is absolutely no presence in Jimny. It may appeal to a new eye but maybe living with my Thar for close to 2 years, no matter which angle I saw it, I was not able to convince myself for it. Thar however was love at first sight. 2. Rear seats are a joke. Frankly speaking, the rear seats of Jimny feel like sitting in a rickshaw. I mean what is the point in having 5 doors if the rear seats are there just for the sake of it. 3. The front seating in Jimny is more sedan like (Low). It doesn't really feel like sitting in a SUV. I just love the commanding position I get in Thar (I'm 5'4"). 4. Front seats are not that great. Thar seats are way too comfortable and have good side supports that prevent you from moving sideways during off-roading. 5. Tyres of Jimny again are a joke. Honestly speaking, the first thing that made me fall in love with Thar was it's tyres. I'm sure majority of the Jimny owners will upgrade to a better offroading tyres. So add another 30-40k extra expense. 6. Most of the drive you do on your 4WD is going to be on highways, unless ofcourse you live close to mountains. I've done Ladakh and Sikkim trips on my Thar (Close to 7500+ km both ways). I and my co-passenger had absolutely no issues at all comfortwise in both the trips. Apart from comfort, you also need good power on highways to overtake. Thar has immense power and overtaking is breeze. You don't have to think a lot. I can't say that about the Jimny, be it comfort or the power. Also, everyone gives way to a Thar. Yes, that counts towards your highway experience! 7. As majority of the torque you get in Jimny is at high rpms, you have to rev hard to maintain momentum. That means more jumps in trails. On really tough trails, it could get really uncomfortable especially, if there are passengers behind. Even in Thar petrol, one gets lot of torque under 1500rpm, like a diesel engine. As a result, you can move slowly and gracefully in trails without causing lot of discomfort to passengers. 8. Lastly, the pricing was the final nail in the coffin. I mean there is not major price difference between top end Jimny and petrol Thar. I was hoping to sell my Thar and use that amount to buy Jimny, without adding any extra money!
My better half however didn't require so much reasoning. One look at Jimny and it was a flat no without any hesitation! It was a mini Tempo Trax to her eyes. Thar is like Shah Rukh Khan it seems :)
😂😂😂😂 Aap loog ka comment padh ke maja agaya . Waise Sachin Bhai aur Kshitij Bhai ! Aap dono ke comment ek dum sahi hey . Loog yaha 3 lakh mein BMW X7 chahate hein aur kuch companies BMW ke price mein yahan nano wali feature wali gadi bechte hein (jaise ki Toyota , Jeep , Hyundai , Citroen) .
Ya mean ARMADA, that thing looks sexy and Moreover can give direct competition to wrangler 4 door stock, because Thar 3 door looks huge in front of stock 5 door Wrangler so think what would be a 5 door version would look like overall,
I own a jimny and took it off road and long road. Beautiful vehicle and really worth with the engineering into it. If you own it you will fell love with it. Don't look with the price, it's well priced with it's capabilities
Wrt pricing you're not going for a like for like comparison; you're comparing that rwd with jimny 4x4. Also, had social media been a good indicator of sales, tata motors would've defeated toyota as the leading manufacturer worldwide. It's okay, if you prefer thar as a car and Mahindra as a brand, but don't go after jimny just because it's a maruti. Your channel has previous videos bashing maruti as well, not always unjustified I agree. Still, it doesn't bear well to guise your opinion into facts. P.S.: Good luck to those who trust xuv700 pre booking numbers, that is somehow more than the sale of the highest saling car in India (Alto) for 5 years put together. Disclosure: My family has owned 2 maruti cars and my father has worked hard to be a first time car buyer. So, pardon me if I feel inclined towards maruti.

I don't know why you booked it in the first place when you wanted a monocoque and not a ladder frame. Buy Jimny only if you want to throw it down a beaten path. Buy a nexon is you are a sedate driver and have plenty pot holed roads around you.
sirf suv type priority hain mainly and new updated car , buss , baki aap log with good knowledge and experienced are here to guide me, isiliya comment kiya and watcing videos bro
To be honest, i think its priced right. It's Alpha MT is 1 lakh less from Thar LX 4*4 HT MT (ex showroom bhilwara), Although it misses on some important stuff like : 1. No Diff locks 2. Approach angles, 36 ° (thar has 41 and Gurkha has 38) 3. Low torque at 130 nm (even Gurkha has 250 nm) ** Torque to weight ratio of jimny is 0.11, meanwhile its 0.17 for Thar, which is better, even after jimny being this light weight. 4. Jimny is lighter but still the P2W ratio is same as Thar. 5. Jimny being this light can also be an issue as it can lose traction on some terrains and water wading. Will add more if i can remember.
Here is my opinion on why Jimny isn't selling in great numbers : 1) The engine is underpowered. If you want to go proper off roading you need a good amount of torque to get out of the obstacles when you're stuck, and jimny only comes with petrol engine and I think Maruti should include a diesel engine variant for the jimny or just bump the power a little bit more to give it an advantage. 2) Tyres are too narrow for an off-roader. I feel the tires on the gypsy are more wider than those on jimny plus water wading capacity is a bit low for an off-roader. 3) Pricing is a bit on the higher side. You could buy a thar instead. Maruti should price it a lil bit less if they want to stay in the competition. (PS : I love the Jimny as it has a very rich heritage of off-roading and it is a globally famous vehicle, if Maruti improves the above mentioned things in the Jimny, it would be a killer)
I probably think Maruti wanted to target only niche ( skilled off road drivers who want a second car ) users by jimny because they already have Brezza and vitara for mass market. Also keeping its price slightly on higher side make it immune from amateurs drivers/reel maker thus protecting its brand image in long run.
Last week I saw a Bajaj Qute and Jimny running side by side and back to back. Amazingly both are looking similar from back view. I just thought about those who spent 18L on Jimny😂
Jimny was introduced as a 3-door car so naturally everyone went like, "oh wow a second car that I can buy and keep for fun rides without destroying my garage, others garage, my wallet, other people & pedestrians on the road." Today most lifestyle buyers in India are first time lifestyle buyers, who buy big boys toys. But typical Jimny customer wasn't the brash Thar afficionado (who sometimes carries cash and wants to reach his farmhouse faster) but the considerate gentlemen who wanted a fun 3-door car to eat kachori after work and then take the road less travelled to nearby towns on the weekend( i.e the salaried class.) So you obviously cancel your booking when you book a small lifestyle car and it turns out the price is double the expectation. There was and still is a huge demand for a small barebone ac/heater 3 door 4 seat Jimny with independent front axles starting 7 lakhs, with the Indian salaried class in good numbers. If you add height, width and hefty price tag then VFM or fun class will not buy it.
Thar will become pain in ur ass brother.. Very noisy cabin.. Jumps around always.. Uncomfortable every time u drive past 100.. Forget driving.. The people who sit behind will damage their spine if u hit hard on pot holes... Better go buy scorpio.. I am telling my experience..
Although Jimny has live axel at both ends still it has better ride quality than Thar and same goes for high speed stability. GDI engine usually use turbo because of which the fuel efficiency is sensitive go really low. My observation after driving both.
If one is going for a lifestyle off-roader, mileage generally isn’t a factor one cares about. Also, the puny engine in the Jimny cancels out whatever advantage it has over the Thar.
I have canceled the booking after they've announced the price.. But my friends who could afford it around that price, they also canceled not because it's not a capable vehicle. They really dont wanted to spend such a huge some on vehicle thats not used on a daily basis. All of them hard core jymny fans and pre owners as well..😢
Your video resonates the same as all other Jimny videos. I think Maruti took the view that it was competing with the Thar (as in your video), however there is no comparison, Apples to Oranges. Jimny/Gypsy is in a class of its own & has a cult following, but Maruti shot itself in the foot. Imagine if it was priced On Road below 14 lacs for the top variant, India would have been buzzing with a swarm of Jimny's everywhere. All said & done, the price is way TOO HIGH with the Alpha AT costing between 17.50-17.80 Lacs On Road and though I don't own one I suspect the Mileage that you show for the Jimny @16kpl is Not Correct, not possible for a vehicle with 2 fixed axles. Many people including me were the first to book the vehicle (despite its size & no frills & low mileage etc) and have since changed our minds. Honda should seize this opportunity with their Passport, will destroy the small SUV market. But having said that sadly Honda has been way behind in their game in India, this despite having some of the best small & large SUV's in the world. All said and done the Dilemma is what to buy now???
I had a chamce to go look the car at the showroom. It looks good, the body doors feels heavier than regular maruti cars. now coming to interiors the rear passenger seat feels literally like a wagon r, the fron interiors are bland and just not flgive you a good feeling about car. and when coming to its price its an immediate NO
I am completely a Sedan Guy. But, I would still put my money on Suzuki Jimny any day (if I had to). Because, I value Reliability a little bit more than Safety & Reliability is a factor, that isn't present in Indian Brand Cars, as of yet. They can stall just anywhere & need continuous visits to Service Centers, which is frustrating.
15 years road legal life, maruti parts, 4 doors, unique looks, world renowned performance, 4x4 , tactile interior, narrow built (better for off-roading) are reasons enough to go for jimny. Thar’s beautiful but it’s way too impractical for me and my family. I absolutely love the fact that people are canceling their bookings. It will keep it rare on road and add to its special presence
As a Jimny owner I would say this is a pretty good summary! The only three disappointments with this car are 1. Width - no space to hold a 1ltr water bottle on driver and passenger side 2. Low Water-Wading capacity and 3. Poor quality rear suspension - I have absolutely no issues with the front rigid axle or steering (mine has a very decent return-to-centre as well), just the thud and bump at the rear on ditches and the giant unscientifically laid speed breakers that we encounter everywhere in India. Also it rides fairly well on normal roads. The reason the Thar is considered a good option has nothing to do with anything designed and built specifically for the Thar - it has to do with the independent design and development success of the GDI and mHawk engine. Otherwise the Thar should be considered an abject failure around its rear seating and poor ride quality. If you plonk a great engine on a donkey cart then even the donkey cart will be seen as a runaway success - that’s the story of the Thar in my eyes. What the Thar gains in width and height it loses miserably in rear seating and looks comically like a Pygmy circus clown in my eyes.😅 I had a choice - compromise with its stupid Pygmy looks for lack of length(disproportionate compared to its width) resulting in the very poor quality rear seating and boot space option, or compromise with the Jimny about its width. I chose the latter and I am happier. At least the Jimny is pretty, cute and light (like a tiny sized but pretty cute girl) and not a balding overweight Pygmy man, like the 2-door Thar... 😉 IMHO there are some important reasons for the size issues with the Jimny - the Kei car heritage and lineage conceptualised primarily and purely as a 3-door design - it would have looked a little disproportionate if it were wider in width in its 3-door avatar. The 5-door Jimny is an afterthought given its roaring success globally, and now as a family car or primary car its width is a sales handicap. The Thar on the other hand I suspect was conceptualised from the start in a 5-door avatar but M&M decided to test the waters with the shorter 2-door at first, because it was a clean break from the established Scorpio design as a new car. Hence the width of the car was always built to match its 5-door avatar in terms of proportion and beauty even in the 2-door version, resulting in its ungainly “shorty” looks. The 5-door Thar should compete well with the original Jeep rival at least here in India.
One of my neighbours have bought Jimny (top Automatic variant) and uses it for grocery shopping and family visits. Forget offroading, he wouldn't even drive it over bad patches of road if there's an alternative route 😂
My father brought a Ford Figo on 2012 and he brought a Titanium Model meaning it had seats and safety features, even the steel used to make it was high-quality and take some beating quite well. Even 11 years later, its engine and steering wheel never ceases to amaze me. He brought it because he was impressed by Ford in America and because he wanted us to have a car which was an asset and safe for us to travel in because he once had a friend whom lost his entire family in a car crash back when he was a child. Recently it crashed into a building travelling at somewhere between 30-50 km per hour, I think. The engine was surprisingly undamaged and the steel, even after 11 years held on protecting it and its occupants.
But tbh 4x2 thar makes no sense. Only those people are going to buy this who want to show off. Such uncomfortable car as a family car is not a good option. For offroading also i want to go with solid axles
Jimny is best suited for folks who actually live on hills and mountains. And one of the reason for higheer price is Maruti knows this will not be a volume generator. They are one of the longest player in Indian market, and their product/marketing team knows very well what they are doing. Most of the "reviewers" live in cities and do off road only for leisure/entertainment.They don't have to come down/climb up mountains every day for a living. This is going to be a very cost effective and practical family car for many coffee/tea estate managers. The torque is enough for this lightweight vehicle, and while this do not happens on a regular basis, but many rookies get stuck due to presence of more torque, as they don't know to to deliver them to the wheels. ;)
For me personally I loved the compact size and looks but the main disappointment is the K15B engine which is quite lackluster, it deserved a stronger turbo petrol engine along with a peppy 1.5 diesel engine with atleast equal performance to a venue or sonet.
Despite its flaws, Jimny has found a following. I am very sure Maruti Suzuki understands its customer segment and took a calculated risk without worrying about the competition from the Thar. Since MS is not yet a big SUV player, they will probably not feel the pinch if Jimny sales go down. They will simply continue doing what they do best - smaller, fuel-efficient engines in cars with in-demand features for the masses.
What was Maruti thinking ? It committed suicide with the Jimny…..underpowered engine , boxy car with cramped interiors , bad mileage for petrol engine in single digits 😮, , terrible tyres …..19.5 lakh onroad makes it in range of Innova Crysta G😂😂😂😂
Perhaps same thing was done with s-corss which was very pricy when launched and then after maruti realized its mistake prices were revised.... same were done with Honda Jazz
Not globally. Only in Europe where they drive matchbox size cars because of idiotic taxes. Go to USA and see if they have any Jimnys. Their SUVs have 6500 cc V8s. So please don't call it a global product.
The ONLY reason of its success in global markets is that it was cheap and had no other rugged off-roader competitors in its price segment. However in India, we have the mighty Thar and hardcore Gurkha available in about the same price bracket, and so, Jimny won’t be as successful.
@@user-dp48ry5 American offroad enthusiasts really do sought after this Jimny since launch. I feel like this is just your opinion and I respect it. Jimny is bang for the buck for it's price. People love Jimny!! Willing to own but it's price is bit higher. I have seen many videos about Jimny and it's performance. I like Jimny's compact size, low crub weight. It's a perfect vehicle for those who prefer practical implication in real life rather than oversized Thar, making it difficult to ride through narrow off road trails. Good that price is high! Are you kidding me? Its the only offroader on this segment that offers solid axles front and rear which the 60 Lakh Rupees Wrangler does. That is why its articulation is unbeatable. Just like the Gypsy, it is light and peppy which summons its own advantages. Stock Jimny may not be 100 Percent offroad vehicle, however MS gives alot of customization options. You can remove the Stock 195 highway tyres to 215 or 235 in stock suspension and youll have no problems as already demonstrated by many owners. This is not the case with Thar because even in Stock, the front wheels scrap the wheel wall under heavy articulation. Suzuki knows that not everyone is going to buy it for offroading. Also power to weight Ratio is pretty decent and much better than the Gurkha with 90 BHP for 2 Tonnes. If you're worried about water wadding, just fit a snorkel in and your ready to go. Theres already a UA-cam video where an Owner in stock Jimny, crosses a water logged road with the water nearly covering the height of the wheels.

U made right decision bro. Chill with ur powerful thar it's power and presence are class apart
My better half however didn't require so much reasoning. One look at Jimny and it was a flat no without any hesitation! It was a mini Tempo Trax to her eyes. Thar is like Shah Rukh Khan it seems :)

Will add more if i can remember.

@@tapas1505 exactly
Here is my opinion on why Jimny isn't selling in great numbers :
1) The engine is underpowered.
Reel makers, real threat to brand image.
@@ndahiya3730 yes indeed
Jimny was introduced as a 3-door car so naturally everyone went like, "oh wow a second car that I can buy and keep for fun rides without destroying my garage, others garage, my wallet, other people & pedestrians on the road."
Today most lifestyle buyers in India are first time lifestyle buyers, who buy big boys toys. But typical Jimny customer wasn't the brash Thar afficionado (who sometimes carries cash and wants to reach his farmhouse faster) but the considerate gentlemen who wanted a fun 3-door car to eat kachori after work and then take the road less travelled to nearby towns on the weekend( i.e the salaried class.)
So you obviously cancel your booking when you book a small lifestyle car and it turns out the price is double the expectation.
There was and still is a huge demand for a small barebone ac/heater 3 door 4 seat Jimny with independent front axles starting 7 lakhs, with the Indian salaried class in good numbers. If you add height, width and hefty price tag then VFM or fun class will not buy it.

Although Jimny has live axel at both ends still it has better ride quality than Thar and same goes for high speed stability. GDI engine usually use turbo because of which the fuel efficiency is sensitive go really low. My observation after driving both.
I don't think so
Please google and see Jimny steering wobble issues. You will cancel your booking. Just watch.
If one is going for a lifestyle off-roader, mileage generally isn’t a factor one cares about. Also, the puny engine in the Jimny cancels out whatever advantage it has over the Thar.
Thats true, many said Thar has bouncy ride quality, I experienced it, whereas this it better sorted.
Bro , bhai simple maruti lele woh toh Jada accha jimny se
Bhai ye sab log nahi samjenge ise!
Please make a video on FORCE MOTORS on how and why they make engines for MERC,BMW, and ROLL SROYCE.....
So maturely explained! 😎
I had a chamce to go look the car at the showroom.
It looks good, the body doors feels heavier than regular maruti cars.
now coming to interiors the rear passenger seat feels literally like a wagon r, the fron interiors are bland and just not flgive you a good feeling about car.
and when coming to its price its an immediate NO
I really love the amount of research and work you put into your videos. Keep up the good work. 😊🙏

What the Thar gains in width and height it loses miserably in rear seating and looks comically like a Pygmy circus clown in my eyes.😅
I had a choice - compromise with its stupid Pygmy looks for lack of length(disproportionate compared to its width) resulting in the very poor quality rear seating and boot space option, or compromise with the Jimny about its width. I chose the latter and I am happier. At least the Jimny is pretty, cute and light (like a tiny sized but pretty cute girl) and not a balding overweight Pygmy man, like the 2-door Thar... 😉
IMHO there are some important reasons for the size issues with the Jimny - the Kei car heritage and lineage conceptualised primarily and purely as a 3-door design - it would have looked a little disproportionate if it were wider in width in its 3-door avatar.
Unfollowed all car reviewers this is the way I want to watch reviews for 4 wheelers from now❤
But tbh 4x2 thar makes no sense. Only those people are going to buy this who want to show off. Such uncomfortable car as a family car is not a good option.
For offroading also i want to go with solid axles
Please tell me why mahindra didn't introduce ventilated seat features?❤❤❤
0:20 omg sunny paaji ab car bhi review kar rahe h?
Thar's Weight Is Not Just Makes Heaver Rather It Is One Of The Main Reason For Its 4 Star Safety Ratings !!!
The torque is enough for this lightweight vehicle, and while this do not happens on a regular basis, but many rookies get stuck due to presence of more torque, as they don't know to to deliver them to the wheels. ;)
And the important thing is that 4×4 and all grip is imported system it will fetch the higher tax.
I don’t mind the SIZE and PRICE … only thing I hate is the gearbox 🤧🤧
For me personally I loved the compact size and looks but the main disappointment is the K15B engine which is quite lackluster, it deserved a stronger turbo petrol engine along with a peppy 1.5 diesel engine with atleast equal performance to a venue or sonet.
11:36 5 saal baad jab kamaane lag jaunga tab lunga Jimny
Kam se Kam gypsy na chala pane wale regret dubara nahi hoga
In love jimny especially for its narrow width, but the huge turning radius negates it's narrow width
Despite its flaws, Jimny has found a following. I am very sure Maruti Suzuki understands its customer segment and took a calculated risk without worrying about the competition from the Thar. Since MS is not yet a big SUV player, they will probably not feel the pinch if Jimny sales go down. They will simply continue doing what they do best - smaller, fuel-efficient engines in cars with in-demand features for the masses.
i have one already in UAE and its also best seller in UAE so far very fun to drive on two door. but here in india five door is looking ugly.
Perhaps same thing was done with s-corss which was very pricy when launched and then after maruti realized its mistake prices were revised....
same were done with Honda Jazz
it is sucessful globally for a reason. off road capa ilities are next level. people buying cars in India are just for size and road presense.
Who is going tell him that jimny made in India is different then jimny made outside India.
@@user-dp48ry5 American offroad enthusiasts really do sought after this Jimny since launch. There are many videos where you can see them wanting to get Jimny in the states to replace the overpriced and expensive to maintain Wrangler. And even before when Suzuki used to sell in America, the old Gen Suzuki Samurai used to outsell old Wrangler by 3 times, which is absolutely massive, of course until the fake "easy to rollover" Scandal came.

Good video, the jimny is a niche suzuki product designed for the european crowd that doesnt use a measuring tape to decide cars or wade through rivers regularly. It wont work for the look at me crowd which feels the need to compensate for their other shortcomings.

Indian roads will not be jammed with Suzuki Jimny, the exclusive nature of the vehicle will be preserved.

In USA AND AUSTRALIA they're blocking the sales of Roxor in America and Thar in Australia because of their lobbying and the US armtwisting in these markets,

Gypsy was such a great vehicle jimny is a disgrace to it
Why so?
@@amogus9440 Jimmy doesn't feel like an off road vehicle
