Indians had their own first small affordable car with Tata Nano. But those were laughed off. Because cars are considered as status symbols and not workhorses.
No it was because that car was very poor. An alto seemed better value. Nano was very dangerous even more than any maruti and wasn't even legally allowed on highway.
Nano was literally an auto on 4 wheels 😅 alto and maruti 800 were better than it
@@vandiholic451the car was made for the people who would fit 4 people on a two wheller. Its was 100 times safer than that, and was almost same the prize
Bro, another reason was it's price as well, it was marketed as a car under 1 lakh but it's actual price was above 3 lakh
Just add a little bit extra and you can easily get alto
Its like bsnl and jio
Bsnl is cheaper then jio but just add little bit more money and jio is much better value for money
Yes We Need Video on Japan's Gentlesman Agreement 💯
Kei cars are cars which India needs. Traffic congestion is increasing day by day and is likely to increase in future as our urban population is increasing at a higher rate than our population. An EV Kei Car would be an absolute game changer.
No bro, we need better road and public transport infrastructure.
@@utkarshdharmadhikari6816 no bro it is not possible in metro cities. The traffic you see there is just the beginning it's only gonna get worse with more population and higher standards of living. And also our population density is higher than that of Japan.
Good public transport is the solution.

These cars can be successful in India if they come with good designs and marketing is done properly.
These cars can be used as taxi or cabs .
If these cars are used as cabs, private buyers will avoid them, the same happened with Toyota Etios.
Forgot about nano?
Even Rear Wheel Drive can be more practical in small engines too. As I used to drive Omni(compared to alto) and Echo, and they feel much more powered than other cars.
You can drift with it 😁😁😁

I have always been a fan of kei cars, I like their compact design. Even variety of new models that keep coming every six months. I own one kei car, not by by dimension but by engine size. Tata Nano 623cc.
Daihatsu Copen (Sports car), all four variants with CVT.
Nissan Dayz.
Even I would like to buy Honda gyro (3-wheeled scooter). Electric version of course. Suzuki Let's Basket. Yamaha Niken motorcycle (not at all small engined), Yamaha Tricity scooter. I can go on...
Also I would like to have japanese style railway system which connects small rural towns and villages. Japanese style railway stations which are market place as well as food court of sorts, with line up of vending machines.
They have a narrow track gauge and lesser population. So I don't think trains like those would work here. Also, 95% of rail tracks are either broad or metre gauge in india. Modifying even the smallest railway line can be impractical and involves a lot of capital expenditure. So yeah, the current track length is better and can be useful for future expansion or acquiring fast trains
I am eagerly waiting for this topic. Nobody touched this topic on UA-cam.❤️♥️

Finally someone addressed this . Jimny Kei variant comes with 660cc with turbo charger engine , its a mini suv withe excellent minor cross country performance. But Suzuki has no mood nor the interest to take the risk to sell the 660cc here cause they know it would called as super underpowered by our auto "experts". Even in Pakistan suzuki sells the alto 660cc automatic refurbished shipped JDM . For India's ever crowded city 660cc is enough bt biggest hinder is Indians themselves , they don't have the money to buy to powerful cars yet will mock n criticize which is available in their budget. Biggest example was now discontinued Nano . I myself did a 12 hours drive from Reckongpeo to Shimla in a Maruti 800 with 5 big sized occupants, it drove beautifully even on the unprepared gravel n stones filled muddy himalayan roads . Our domestic market should to change now in virtue of practicality ,, Thank you for this enlightening vid ,,

Sad to know that sedans will be extinct one day 😭 anyways, impressive narration and presentation hope this channel reaches 100K soon 😊
One of the main reasons are the roads. SUVs are able to move easily in a bad damaged roads rather than sedans which need smooth roads.

Urban cities must focus on improvement of public transport..... 2 wheelers can shift to public transportation.......rather than just taking one ton of steal and plastic everywhere...... It is good for the environment as well
Japan has the best public transportation
Totally agree with you

Please make video on future of electric cars in India, specially why just Indian and Koreans are investing in Electrical cars in India, whereas Japanese car makers (suzuki, Toyota, Honda etc) still not making any efforts in that direction and are more interested in Hybrids...
listen electric cars arent a good solution electric cars are just transferring pollution elsewhere. Honda is now making great evs, Suzuki wants its cars to be cheap and toyota is making evs but also observing the market and looking for hydrogen vehicles which are better than evs i think
Simple reason electrifying things are BS and half assed works jobs simply because we don't have proper sustainable resources or development like ICE vehicles have. Rich enough people get their hand on them and if u have enough money to spend on ev for it and think how many Yr u want to spend in ownership
The Japanese are more focussed on Hybrid and hydrogen...They already have buses that run on Hydrogen . Hydrogen is more practical for heavy commercial vehicles.
This channel is a hidden gem. A one of a kind channel, at least in India. Really impressed by the effort you put in every single video of yours!
Can you please make a video on who made the rr310 how much bmw helped tvs can tvs make bigger bikes now
Question-how much of Jawa does mahindra own I know they own the classic legends . Are all the Jawa-yezdi bikes made under mahindra the perak the 42 can we proudly say they are Indian bikes?
Yeah bro you're whole point is valid .. But our people mentality is different they don't see the practicality but styling , brand value is important... It's like I'll go by cab but not buy small compact cars
Happy to see that your video is very well researched and you have improved the video Quality
I really appreciate your efforts..
Quadricycle is the new category introduced in CMVR Act for KEI car type vehicles. Bajaj and Mahindra both have launched their variants. The electric variants of such cars seems to be of great utility.
Kei cars would be great options as electric in India, government will anyway start taxing electric cars after they are mainstream
but electricity is not imported but oil is govt will get other sources to earn money
Just imagine how it would have been if these KEI cars were available as electric vehicles in India? These would be available at very cost than any other EV in this world and would be affordable for all.
Electric ki range hogi 50km....Battery k liye bhi to jagah chahiye...Or electric cars are more dangerous to environment than ICE cars.
No cheapes
@@rohand04 you probably are unaware of the processes involved in making of Li-ion batteries. Not to mention the horrendous conditions that the miners have to work in.
@@rohand04 tell me how much pollution is done by fossil fuel burning vehicles? India still produces 50% of its electricity by burning coal. when you get a battery vehicle you're just shifting pollution away from the vehucle to the power plant.

Dude, your video is brilliantly made!
Definitely make the a video on the gentleman's agreement.
Very informative & indepth analysis. Thanks.
For auxiliary boost the electric motor is replacing the turbo charger. Kei cars have taken note of the same. Say for example the Suzuki smile wagonR which you showed at the end of your video, has a 3 cylinder mild hybrid power-plant named R06D. It's ICE is paired to a CVT through a torque converter. But with a 5kgm torque electric motor handling stalling speeds, we can do without the torque converter. It will be less refined but the AMTs we are now used to have prepared us for it. There will be considerable cost reduction. It will be the first Direct Drive ICE technology in the world. I sincerely hope Maruti tries it out.
Great decision on showing your face finally...in content creation face value is very important for future...glad to see you showed your face

You should get more subscribers.. i enjoy watching your content.. good work.
i also say the same things, people have started buying bigger and bigger cars where they should have bought a sub 4 meter car...tin my locality i have many people that doesnt have any space in their house, so they bought cars like safari, Scorpio and park them on the narrow roads, blocking the street. for the god's sake if your house doesnt have space to park car inside just dont buy car, hire taxi or buy a small car

Very practical video, I have friends in delhi ncr who own a Fortuner/XUV etc and also a small car as wagonR/alto etc, he uses the latter one for day to day most of the time
Power cars are good but the common usage car market is very less
We already had our Desi Kei Car - Tata Nano. But because of our typical Indian Mentality, Nano failed miserably, Motive was to make shift two wheeler buyers towards entry level cars by Mr. Ratan Tata. But we Indians prefer sunroof , Apple CarPlay etc etc more rather than machines.
There were more reasons for Nano failure in early models specially, you can't call something successful based on maker's intent rather than it's implementation.
@@g1y3 kind of agree , but still at some point us Indians should be proactive & progressive towards adapting new things. Yes the looks of Nano is something even I don't liked , but Alas!

You are awesome casestudy analyser.
Actually Japanese are very practical and smart people.
They sold cheap kei cars and eventually their people started getting very rich in 70s...they started buying 'safer' vehicles.
Indians need to also be practical, special initiatives must be given to families to shift from two wheelers to atleast Alto car.
TATA nano is also a type of kei car then , but failed .Now if electric cars become cheaper like TATA is now doing , and increasing price of petrol and diesel, its going to be very difficult to predict the market .

Two wheelers are India's kei cars. Less than a few percentage of car owners in India are soo rich that they would drive a car for single passenger on a sunny day. We have two wheelers for such use cases.
Nowadays middle class and upper middle class Indian’s have developed a tendency of showing off muscle power. And having a muscular car (crossover now also called as mini/micro suv) with big road presence gives them feel of pride.
Sedans and normal hatchbacks are much much better then these fake suv’s in terms of drivability and practicality.
