Suzuki Management did very bad blunder with pricing. And didn't offered additional value like more power, wider interrior space, interrior upgrades etc.
Pricing and size was the main two points which put down the Jimny. Let's for a moment forget that Thar is what we are comparing it with and rather compare it with its predecessor the Jypsy which was out the reach of civilians. Jypsy deffinitely was a competition to the Thar. So when Jypsy had already created the necessary base for Jymy to launch how did Maruti screw up. At least the Jymny should have been priced lesser at the beginning, should have got all the bells and whistles that the hyrider was getting along with its AWD/4WD system. That would have still ensured some success. By size forget comparing the Jymny with the Thar. It does even compare to the Sonet which Kia is selling at half the price of Jymny.
Indian market need road presence and occasional off roading which thar provide in every manner. Thar have a great road presence and great interior and really good and even better off roading.
Jymni is mostly owned by above upper middle class people who use it as a adventure vehicle not for daily purpose and Indian customers mostly prefer cars for their daily purpose. Thats why Jymni is sucess globally and failed in India.
Most important is the unnecessary hike in price during launch. This was due to the greed of the company. Despite this I like Jimmy over Thar. During Monsoon be it Delhi or Bombay , one needs a sturdy vehicle with high ground clearance to get through the river like water logged roads. Diesel vehicles require urea. Jimny is light weight & has a high power to mass ratio that helps it wade the waters. Gypsy is basic but Jimny is advanced & safer with 6 airbags,Abs,EBD,hill descent control & 5 doors. If discounts continue it is an economic & reliable vehicle & with unmatched go anywhere capability.Maruti promoted Jimny as a rough terrain goer but not as an alternative to Thar. This notion was made by influencers. The average Indian consumer is too influenced by social media. Therefore products with a unique blend make it big abroad but find it tough to sustain the competition herein. Chevrolet & Ford cars are best examples.
Jimny already overtook thar 2 door. 5 door thar roxx is already launched & it's pretty expensive. That means only Jimny is an affordable off-roader now And Jimny is 10000 times comfortable than thar
1995 gypsy frame Which is used in india.poor weld and chassis paint High rpm running.means need to change crown. Wheel lock while turning.no space on rear seat.
Pricing was the major mistake. Increasing the wheel base of 3 door Jimny , with no platform R&D has ended up in a Design that ha s too many boundary conditions to create a proper 4x4 SUV that is compact , less heavy, for City, highways and off road. Having said this, with the available discounts Jimny is the only SUV accessible in India at around 15 lakhs and there shouldnt have been a comparison with others at all in the first place.
I don’t agree with this, the main problem bad driver comfort. Thigh support is almost nil which is not suitable for long drives. That is much better as value for price. Those who are pure suv riders they want performance than price and mileage. I tested it for long but big problem is bad drivers comfort compared to same priced suvs.
8:40 Earlier Suzuki don't think India as suitable candidate for Jimmy and Launch a Substandard product "Gypsy" which clearly reflect there mindset about India. But as it was from the house of Suzuki they give this contact to Iconic car Designer "Dilip Chabaria". It was his first contact as a independent designer . Also over the period of time it was customised as per the needs of Indian market from General consumer to Defence Forces. So it was there mistake that doesn't provide upgrade to Maruti Gypsy and promoted there Jimmy to save the manufacturing costs which resulted them into there low sales.... because till date Indian army is unable to find the replacement of Gypsy because of there more weight carrying capacity design then the weight of the car , which is the unique feature of the Gypsy & make it suitable for true off roading....if it gets the all the jazzy features like 4WD latest interiors etc. it can beat Jimmy, which looks more like a toy car and Gypsy has a better road presenance....
Actully 2018 se mai waiting kar raha ta. Jab 2022 me showcase kia and 23 me launch kiya maine book kiya. Price to bahut mahangi lagi. Jab maine live jaake dekha, baita and drive kiya muje bilkul pasand nahi aaya. Fist of all very very less place for co passengers, bakwas nikla. If they made bit wide muscular it would have instant hit. Indians like good road presence, mileage and low maintanance
It's a common observation that Indians often overlook exceptional cars. This may be due to a lack of awareness or a prevalent mindset that undervalues quality options such as calling something chapri just because of a minority of people.
Problem is pricing and trying to fit everything ie 5 door. It just looks ugly. The design simply doesn't suit 5 door. 3 door variant looks good and the matches the style much more
I think they didn't have to launch the 5 door Jimny... 3 door Jimny was great. Also they didn't have to complete with Thar. Could have kept it separate as Compact off-road SUV.
Jimny super suv in all tarrain with city smooth drive , no one suv in this price range beat it , thar segment different and not in this price range and city drive smoothness not good , thar all lover have secondry car , but jimny use in daily uses and use also in off road one car complete all desire , and reason to less sale indian customer very conscious about people 'loog kya kahenge' लोगों की हालत कैसी है सोशल मीडिया में बुराई करेंगे मारुति की, फिर नई कार मारुति की ले कर आएंगे कहेंगे पापा को ये ही अच्छी लगती है
RWD version of Jimny will not work in India… I have bought the RWD Thar because I didn’t want a 4x4 vehicle… but at the same time I wanted the power and muscular road presence….. Jimny has none of these
Problem junta mai hi hai...dehat junta hai, Chevrolet (Subaru) forester bhi flop ho gayi thi India mai. Jimny 5 door ki waiting list 6-9 months hai Australia mai and maruti ka highest exported model hai
Its Great machine but failed miserably due to wrong marketing. Company should educate buyers about what jimny actually is rather comparing it with Thar. Jimny has lots of strong points to stand as better off roader option. Maruti has started some campaigns to make the correction, it will take time but Jimny has to hold on lil more to be in the game! Whatever you say, Im big fan of Jimny😎
I would very much like to buy Jimmy… coz I always aspire for gypsy… I had a test drive it’s not smooth and it is overpriced… I would definitely buy a RWD mode with smooth driving experience for my city use…
Wrong comparison and everyone cannot understand the capabilities of a Jimny. I have had both versions of Thar and have to admit that Jimny is in a different league. Also how does the Jimny 4X4 compare with RWD 1.5 Bolero engine Thar except the fact that Thar looks big and bulky.
One of the most capable offroader/daily-use vehicle. Trust me it's better and more convenient than Thar.(3door) But for look wise Thar is a chicks-magnet. 🤣 Jimny is the best to go extreme offroading and also very convenient to go around in small/tight spaces as i own one myself(base model). But for our highways and long trips with family I usually prefer my scorpio n as i feel safer in it. Sadly, people like me overpaid for the jimny since it's on heavy discount lately. Over confident suzuki India with overconfident prices. Kind of disappointing.
The Suzuki Jimny represents a practical and sensible choice, but many people in our Indian society would rather spend more money on vehicles that mimic luxury or high-status brands for the sake of appearances.
I still feel not having a diesel version for jimny is a big miss!! The reason being in India only 10% of the people are buying these off roading cars for off road purposes and having a better mileage is very important
This is a pure off-roader and a city car. There are very few off-roaders in India. Most Thar buyers buy it because the Thar looks brawny and is quite a step up now from the crde days. Jimny cannot appeal to that Thar buying lot. It will get a market out of pure off-roaders and Thar isn’t making it easy anymore.
Unimpressive pricing. Unimpressive engine. Unimpressive transmission. Unimpressive fuel economy. Unimpressive water wading capacity. Unimpressive space and storage No drivers seat height adjustment. Small size is not a negative. That is the one positive in this entire disastrous package.
Pricing is the issue. With similar pricing like Thar , it is destined to fail . Slah 2L and it will sell ...... will I buy a Super Splendor if it is priced like Bullet no matter how practical it is ? Simple No.
Problem with we Indians are we don't know how to use Thar. We make fun of Jimny & those Indians who are celebs they own Wrangler. All three are not comparable with each other but the purpose is same that is true off roading which many people don't do.
The old GYPSY was an awesome vehicle, simple, cheap and reliable. The new gymny is expensive to its opposite of simple and rugged. The practice Indian buyer has cheaper options the this expensive vehicle, which is neither cheap nor luxurious.
India is Suzuki's biggest market in terms of sales & revenue. But they always launch their new models in other countries such as UK where their sales & profits are peanuts in comparison with India. Whether anyone belives it or not foreign brands neither respect Indian buyers nor they are respectful towards Indians.
Jimny has not failed but Indians have failed to understand it. Of course, it was pricier when it was launched but not now. I love to drive Jimny because It's like an old school teacher. 😊
The 4th Gen Jimny was launched in 2018, globally. It came too late to India, why? Mahindra launched a RWD Wrangler look alike Jeep, 5 lacs cheaper than the Jimny. Lot of Indians jumped for it - they're want something cheap, that looks like a Jeep and drives like a car. They can always put a 4Bhai4 sticker and no one will be wiser. A 3 door Jimny should have impressed single men and women techies but not, many already own cars, live in apartments in Bangalore, with one parking lot. Now Jimny has to impress them, improve the traffic situation in Bangalore, get them a second parking lot or have an exchange offer for their existing vehicle! Can Suzuki do all of the above?
Maruti will do same thing what they did with versa they discontinued versa and brought eeco in the market at cheaper price than the car got sucess by the attractive price tag
Kiyuki global market mein same price mein thar jaise gari nahi milta.big suv bahut zada costly hota hain jimny se islye jimny bikti hain. But India mein public ke pass option hain same price mei thar lena ka.so public buy kar rahi hain.
Sir MARUTI SUZUKI's 5-Door version JIMNY with a size never suits any Family usage, then what is the fun of conversion to 5-Door and claiming to be a LifeStyle vehicle is toatally against the reality. Price is Too Much and your comments validate the same. MARUTI SUZUKI undermine the car buyers in INDIA and it cannot play the same Tricks by offering the same Engine in diff size and shape of cars. An 1.3 DDIS Engine could have worked wonders for JIMNY but MS dethrone the MIGHTY DIESELS much earlier and its frontrunner strategy put its own JIMNY in Blunder.
Excessive GREED of Maruti to earn from Indian customers by overcharging. If they would have priced it a value for money product, then story could have been different. Now there is no Point in reducing the price. Game is Over...
And mahindra have the licence to make willys jeep in india.so even if thar looks like wrangler it does not matter.the main things like engine and structure of body are made by mahindra which are far more robust than jimny.
Iska starting price bahat jyada tha jab maine pata kiya tha ye onroad 17lks bola tha top model...mujhe laga inko iske price range 10to 14 laks hona chayie tha

Totally agree with you brother.
This should have priced under 10 lakh with 2*2 option
Problem is pricing and trying to fit everything ie 5 door. It just looks ugly. The design simply doesn't suit 5 door. 3 door variant looks good and the matches the style much more
I think they didn't have to launch the 5 door Jimny... 3 door Jimny was great.
Also they didn't have to complete with Thar. Could have kept it separate as Compact off-road SUV.
Sizes dimensions aur engine power increase kari tou acha hoga..cos not only mileage but road presence bi chahiye ajkal
Suzuki should bring 3door jimny cargo that they launched in global market.
Should be price range as eeco.
Also jimny in 2 wheeler drive
yes you are right, at least RWD version ka try krna chiye Suzuki ko lower price point me with better interior and features, only that can save Jimnny.
RWD version of Jimny will not work in India…
I have bought the RWD Thar because I didn’t want a 4x4 vehicle… but at the same time I wanted the power and muscular road presence…..
Jimny has none of these
@@RishavBaruah, right, you bought RWD Thar. The same will work with Jimny. Today, every Indian wants an SUV.
@@GauravSukraliya87 Jimny doesn’t look like an SUV…
Doesn’t have that muscular presence…
And hence people will not be attracted to
Problem junta mai hi hai...dehat junta hai, Chevrolet (Subaru) forester bhi flop ho gayi thi India mai.
Nice story telling, keep growing.
Jimny is very beautiful and very practical vehicle. Thar abd Jimny have no comparison. Both are different.
Trust me it's better and more convenient than Thar.(3door)
But for look wise Thar is a chicks-magnet. 🤣
Jimny is the best to go extreme offroading and also very convenient to go around in small/tight spaces as i own one myself(base model). But for our highways and long trips with family I usually prefer my scorpio n as i feel safer in it.
Sadly, people like me overpaid for the jimny since it's on heavy discount lately. Over confident suzuki India with overconfident prices. Kind of disappointing.
Why did Gypsy become a buge success then? Its just the 2nd gen Jimny with a longer wheelbase…
Being having both thar700 and jymni i love borh like capable and lovesble❤
Jimmy is the most practical and affordable suv , thar no where come near in terms of practice use
The Suzuki Jimny represents a practical and sensible choice, but many people in our Indian society would rather spend more money on vehicles that mimic luxury or high-status brands for the sake of appearances.
Jimny is so capabale. I have tried it in exteme conditions, and its truly what the tagline says, never turn back.
The main reason of flop in India is Mahindra Thar provide better deal and also Suzuki is very late on launching giimny
Unimpressive space and storage
No drivers seat height adjustment.
Simple No.
Absolutely right
Jimny failed because of suzuki's overconfidence pricing.
Suzuki thinks they can sell any car with any pricing. Indian customer gave the reply.
Problem with we Indians are we don't know how to use Thar. We make fun of Jimny & those Indians who are celebs they own Wrangler. All three are not comparable with each other but the purpose is same that is true off roading which many people don't do.
Like people dont understand the fact that they are getting a 4x4 under 14l lol
Sabko bas bhaukai ki padi hai 😂
@@NYOOOOW Unhe offroading kyu nahi sujti Bhaukal ke ilava ?
The old GYPSY was an awesome vehicle, simple, cheap and reliable. The new gymny is expensive to its opposite of simple and rugged.
The practice Indian buyer has cheaper options the this expensive vehicle, which is neither cheap nor luxurious.
Maruti should have launched the three door version itself.
All most all the top international car experts at least have a Jimmy in their garages.
We need 3 door rwd 1.5 naturaly apirated engine in india
Small fun car
No maintenance ready to do car
Bad pricing, tougher competition. Launch one in Sigma variant. See the sales fly
comparision me ek cheez aapne daala nai bhai, prices!! aap dikha dete 4wd thar vs 4wd (only option) jimny to kuch clarity aata
True higher price, 4 seater , 360 camera required adas required. Interior updated
Because it have not a diesel variant….. and petrol variant not a fuel efficient this only one reason I think
India is Suzuki's biggest market in terms of sales & revenue.
But they always launch their new models in other countries such as UK where their sales & profits are peanuts in comparison with India.
Whether anyone belives it or not foreign brands neither respect Indian buyers nor they are respectful towards Indians.
5 door not set on jimny…
Always people like 3 door jimny..thats why heavy booking before launch…
Old 1.5 engine from ertika😢
I am 6.1 tall and do not fit in jimny..they should have made it wider and lengthy.
I think 4#4 with live axels both is a great choice
As an a part of automobile industry, i really love your facts and research 👆🏻✅
Jimny has not failed but Indians have failed to understand it. Of course, it was pricier when it was launched but not now. I love to drive Jimny because It's like an old school teacher. 😊
Good cars fail here because people want all the wrong things. Still focused on features (plastic ones) and resale value. Not core functions.
Jimny price is too expensive 😂😂 people prefer thar or gurkha over jimny coz of looks, size, road presence and price👌👌👌😂
Jimny is for true offroad lovers and that's all about it.
Kam se kam At/LT tiers toh dene chahiye the woh bhi na diye toh off-road ki performance kaha se aayegi
Maruti will do same thing what they did with versa they discontinued versa and brought eeco in the market at cheaper price than the car got sucess by the attractive price tag
Jimny is a decent vehicle.
Pricing was high.
I use Jimny and i like it.
Kiyuki global market mein same price mein thar jaise gari nahi milta.big suv bahut zada costly hota hain jimny se islye jimny bikti hain. But
India mein public ke pass option hain same price mei thar lena ka.so public buy kar rahi hain.
Jimny is very underpowered and I dont have any trust on tin can boxes on roads either.
Jimny is 1.3 Ton vehicle do you know it. Very few vehicles in India are front and rear solid axel
..don't just comment without knowing the facts..
Suzuki should bring back Gypsy and discontinue the tiny toy jimny.
Its the size of car and width of tyres
Iska starting price bahat jyada tha jab maine pata kiya tha ye onroad 17lks bola tha top model...mujhe laga inko iske price range 10to 14 laks hona chayie tha
Right 100%
Main reason india have thar in similar price which have better bulit powerful engine and 4star gnacp rating.
Proud owner of globally hit Jimny. Not like thar jo India ke bahar bikti hi nahi hai jeep company ke saath kiye samjhaute ki wajah se.
Not understanding .If M&M tried to sell outside India, they will be taken to court by Stellantis the owner of JEEP brand
