What I have found is that, only kids and young guys claim that one of these is much better than the other. Car aficionados and mature guys are saying that, both of these cars are a tremendous value and very fast.
Contrary to popular belief, there are actually roads with bends and curves in the United States of America. And yes, even cars made in America can go around those corners.
@Zero Cool started with the c4 Corvette. They got kicked out of the scca world challenge cause. They were too dominant. My 91 c4 handles pretty dam well. Got first place at my local autocross in the c4/c5 class and I was the only c4 lol
Zero Cool dude, the cars competing on that course are highly modified in the suspension dept. American cars stock are heavy, soft, and brake like shit. Weight transfer is horrific in stock American cars. The guys racing that course use the American cars because they’re high powered, reliable, and easy to work on. They tweak the suspension like crazy so they can actually handle up the course. So before you try to make an argument of how American cars are great handlers because of a course you pulled up from Wikipedia, do some research before.

Yeah, I've never understood that. The margin for error is huge and it just looks sloppy in this day in age. The old Japanese Best Motoring has a great way to test on the track. BTW, regardless, Fifth gear is awesome just the same. Bring in a some more seasoned race drivers and battle these models out on the track!

I know, kind of embarrassing to get such a basic stat wrong for fifth gear. You get a sense that these guys are so sick and tired of reviewing cars that they are just going through the motions and don't give a fuck anymore.

Whatever passion they had for reviewing cars, clearly is gone now and they are just doing this as the means to make money. I've been a fan of fifth gear and top gear for a long time. These guys are the OGs but it is about time they've retired.

I don't blame them. They are the OG car reviewers. All these youtube car reviewers nowadays are just copying what these guys have been doing for decades. And for that, they deserve all the props.
The Camaro has the better chassis and engine. You need the 1LE performance package to see what it can really do. Same for the mustang you need the PP2 or at least PP1.

Having just come back from 3 days of doing Targa High Country, I can vouch that the big yank V8 Mustang goes around corners beautifully!

technically, they're both made for the track, especially if you get the 1LE, and the PP2.
also, the Camaro does have mag-ride suspension, it actually had it before the Mustang.

Real M I’m with you on a lot of points ...except on the comments on build quality . Maybe for interiors they are cheaper...but talk to any racing crew about the absolute ass kicking a GM LS V8 can take ....or a Ford 5.0L. These cars are built well, the build quality issues is a stigma from the 90s 80s and 70s .
Regardless, I agree the Americans don’t hold a candle to the Germans in build materials or fit and finish. The Japanese though....I’ve never seen that to be true.
My points...if you want a budget race car ...a Camaro or a Vette or a new Track pack mustang is a safe bet for a car that will take a beating on a budget . If you’re modifying them....even better .
I’m speaking from experience, I owned the CTSV , and now a Hellcat . The interiors don’t touch the Germans ...but the engines and transmissions and drive line certainly are on par .

it's one of the worst reviews I've ever watched. first in first the camaro has a 6.2 not a 6.0 v8. then you'll have to explain me how you didn't manage to get equal cars specs (magn. ride, automatic gearbox etc). Seems more like a funny video than a serious car review !!
Makes the camaro look good ...no mag ride and is pretty much as fast as the pony with it ..camaro ftw
There are likely a limited number of these available in the U.K. from the manufacturers as press cars, so it might not have been possible to match specs for the date of the filming.
Similar specs and the Mustang would still win.
sweetcheels hey, mustang is great love both but trust me, camaro is a better car. If you go check the pp2 vs the 1le is no game.
And different drivers for each car makes no sense, the same guy should have tested each car. If they both wanted to drive then there should have been 4 runs, one run each per car.

The Camaro has a 6.2L V8, not a 6L. Plus, it makes 455hp. Also, if you can't make a 450hp Mustang GT go 0-60 faster than 4.6 seconds, than you shouldn't be driving it.
You'd think they were discussing 20 year old cars, good grief at least get the stats right. My '18 even with 20" all weather tires went 4.0 to 60 and 12. flat in the 1/4 in 3500 DA.

Mustang GT is 460hp Camarro is 455hp.
MY18/19 Mustang GT is 444hp in UK and Bullitt Edition is 453hp...both have less power than LHD markets. I love my orange fury GT 😬

It used to be the opposite when Mustangs were starting to get sent to UK semi-officially I believe in 2012. The computers were re-mapped, and the 5 liter engines were rated something like 15 hp more than the US versions.
He said the facelift brings an extra 34 horsepower lol. Well then that 469 horsepower not 450 lol

Use the same driver, do a few runs each and take an average, and pick the Camaro with a closer price point to the GT mustang. Maybe pick the package that give the Camaro Adjustable suspension?
Im in Australia and the right hand drive option is commonly availabe.

The Camaro has magnetic dampening suspension, they probably just didn't get that option.

I have a 2015 Camaro convertible and I love it .it has never once let me down.im just amazed how much more expensive they are in the UK .I'm from Cheshire but I live in Florida

Lamest review, ever. The new Camaros and Corvettes blow the doors off of the Aston Martins and especially the Jaguars , who usually will break down in the first 5 laps. The only Ford in endurance racing is the GT, but I would love to see a Mustang at LeMans. The Camaros are built to handle even without magnetic ride control, but the do have that option. Your driver is just not used to left hand drive.

Muscle cars offer bigger bang for your buck..Euro cars are fast when they expensive..they are not "street" Euro cars a too precise especially the German cars. The M4 is a nice car but that is the prob with i like cars rugged and with attitude

We have now the Camaro here in Australia to they are now converted to right-hand drive by HSV and I think it's very selfish of General Motors not making right hand drive to begin with

I would take the Mustang over the Camaro. Although, I hear the manual gearbox in the Shelby gt350 feels much better than the one in the GT
The one in the Shelby is a tremec 6 speed manual which by all means is awesome but the one in the GT 5.0 uses the MT82 transmission made in China... Which is quite garbage

Camaro has a Tremek TR6060, while the GT350 uses the Tremek TR3160, which is just a lighter and weaker version of the 6060.
I can tell you, the GT350’s transmission is very firm. It’s great for a track and it’s fun to upshift and downshift but daily driving it is hell. It’s unforgiving to mess ups due to other stupid drivers. Requires you to double clutch a lot to get power. You also have the problem that the car’s gears are heavily stacked and sometimes requires you to skip a gear (1st to 3rd) if you’re flooring it. Still, fun asf though.

A battle almost as old as dirt... each have their fans/haters. 1 has always outsold the other (except maybe a few model years, can anyone confirm ?). 1 can be tuned to great lengths, the other not so far. They both have their own quirks, features, benefits and faults. It really comes down to personal taste. As for comparing these 2 units to the mighty M3, choose the GT350 or ZL1 to make it apples vs apples. Nice to see the boys back together !! With love, from Canada
GT500 and ZL1 would be apples and apples; GT500 will be out in the next year or so.
FordGTGuy very true. Apples to apples would be adding a supercharger to a regular Coyote, and then it wouldn’t even be close.

bahahaha "mighty M3"? GT350 and ZL1 to make it apples to apples? You serious mate? A regular ZL1 wipes the floor with an M4 GTS! hell even the basic Camaro SS with the 1LE package was only what? 1 tenth of the M4 GTS around a racetrack
GT350R murders the M4 GTS aswell and their both way cheaper than the BMW.
We're not even talking about the ZL1 1LE here which is in a completely different league from anything BMW makes.
Hrm...I was hoping for a bit more, and I am surprised the Camaro understeered...it should have been neutral, and also faster than the Mustang GT in the corners.
Here in comparisons the standard SS (with magnetic dampers) has done as well on track as the regular M4, and the SS 1LE which is a $6500 package that includes beefier springs/sway bars (still magnetic dampers) more aggressive tires (extreme summer), special e-diff rear end, and a few other goodies has run shamingly close to the stripped out M4 GTS. Hopefully you get those in Europe...that's the one to have on twisty roads.
Similarly the GT PP2 is also a great track car, although it uses R-compound tires to get there, it still puts down great lap times.

Fun watching these guys have fun with muscle that also handles. Affordable muscle. The vision out of the Mustang is better. Vision out is very important to me. I do not like the pill box vision out the camaro.

A ton of ppl say things like that but, u get use to it. It works out u forget about it once u drive it. And if u get the performance pkg it does come with magnetic suspension. I know this bc l own one. Car handle beautifully.

American cars only started handling well when they went to the Australians for a platform. The zeta was an Australian made platform for the VE commodore and camaro share that chassis, the new alpha chassis is a evolution derivative of the zeta.
That was the fifth gen Camaro. The 6th gen Camaro isn't under the zeta platform it's under the alpha GM platform which is American.
NEW FIFTH GEAR?!?! That's awesome! But they should definitely differentiate that's it's a new one (by adding NEW in front of title, or having some color symbol in thumbnail or something that's easy to notice) and not re-uploads of old episodes more clearly, because I've just been ignoring re-uploads without even thinking!

Not sure if they are available there but they should have gotten the performance versions to show how much better these cars are. That is the mustang gt pp2 and the camaro ss 1le. Much better than an m4 in terms of performance any day.

Next time get a Camaro with the 1LE option. The standard SS doesn't have the magaride suspension.
I found out there is no taxes on Mrsp retail price in Usa , why American cars are much cheaper in Usa . Uk has 20% vat tax on top

No one has a video of a 2020+ Camaro ss A10 vs a 2020+ Mustang GT A10. Why is that?? Every video of these 2 cars is either the ZL1 and GT500 or its a 2018 or older car ss and mustang.

@@anthonydeluca6966lol no due to lower weight and better grip. The ZL1 can just as fast as the hellcat in normal conditions and absolutely destroy it in a track. It's also not a FCA product.
Anthony DeLuca Hellcats handle fucking terribly. A ZL1 will be as fast as a hellcat in a straight line, but then handle like a supercar. Hellcats will understeer into a wall after wallowing all over the track like a drunk pig.
@@anthonydeluca6966 I think the ZL1 is actually quicker - particularly with the 10 speed. It's definitely quicker if you have to turn. Much slower if you have to pick up more than one person because you'll likely have to make two trips in the Camaro which has a comically small rear seat.

@@Mububban23 private imports have always existed and obviously in small numbers. In Australia, a factory Camaro was launched only this year (2018) whereas the Mustang arrived through Ford dealers in 2015. Or go back to 2001/02 when Ford Australia again sold factory Mustangs this time against Monaro. Your 2009 reference is relevant only for other world markets.
Go to your nearest HSV dealer. Should be seeing Camaros in larger numbers soon.

When testing - cars should have the same equipment for a proper test or all results are pointless. Yes there are some great driving roads in US that would test the handling of any sports car.

Both beautiful cars, but I wouldn't drive either. To many electrical systems I don't trust, and don't need. The more computerized a vehicle is, the worse off it is.
Back to the days of pure British motoring
Nowadays the V6 Camaro is so good that you could buy it for its actual performance rather than as a consolation for not being able to afford the payments and/or insurance on the V8. And with less weight sitting over the front axle, I bet it would out-slalom either of these.

all the numbers they said about the cars are wrong. mustang has 460 to the crank and the camaro has a 6.2 LT1 with 455 crank.

Mustang was automatic with optional magnetic ride control(both available in Camaro but not in the review). Same spec Camaro beats the Mustang every time both in straight line and on the track.
Ummm.. the 2018+ GT has 465HP and in the 10 speed auto will do 3.9
