Wait a minute, an automotive review that's honest and criticizes in a constructive way? I can't believe what I am hearing and seeing. In this day and age where companies "secretly" pay for marketing materials. Great job Edmunds! Thanks for giving the viewer something informative.
well they used a ZL1 on the track so they could say it was better than the GT. However the Shelby would be better anyway but they didn't use the SS for the review
@@itsdillon1217 They did use the SS for the review, however at various times they show the identically painted ZL1 going around the road course, and at other times showed the SS going around the same course. Whoever was doing the editing made some mistakes.

You can't compare them. Test drive a BMW M4, it just feels a whole lot better than both these cars. You are paying for much more than just power once you get into the luxury car category. If you are trying just to go fast, then yeah I guess your argument is valid. I do agree that the M4 needs a HP bump, but really how much more power do you need to add to a car. 420 HP is still absolutely absurd as a DD.
cadsux also camaro has 30more lbs ft of tq, and reputation. Mustang as always known as the crowd killer at car meets. Camaro is more famous because of Transformers. and Mustang's are too common.
cadsux haha 3x as much? Really guy!? You do know that fully loaded, the GT is close to $50k, and still has a cheap interior, and less options and quality than a base model German performance car. You can get a new M4, C63 AMG, or RS Audi in the $70k’s, and they will feel so much better. At just over $20k more than the GT, it’s worth it!
LMFAO that was one on the dumbest comments I've ever seen and It smells of pure fanboy LOL a fully loaded GT is ($53,360) and sure the interior is cheap compared to a M4, but it has more options than the M4 and is cheaper. A fully loaded M4($84,030), C63 AMG($92,275), or RS Audi all peak above 80k with every option ticked. The RS cars for Audi all START at 65k+
I'm a driving enthusiast and I love a good handling car. Within the past 3 years I've owned a C7 Corvette Z51 and a Fiesta ST, both outstanding handling cars that won me a few autocross 1st place medals. I am certain I would love the Camaro SS 1LE on a twisty road, track or autocross course, but there are a few things that make me sway more towards the Mustang as a street car. These are my individual pros and cons for each car. Pros of the Camaro: Alpha platform handling, LT1 (would love to see port injection along with DI in the future), proven TR6060 transmission, revolutionary eDiff, smartly tuned dynamic ride control, NLS, good rev-matching system, great deals to be had on 1LE packages since they've been out for a while. Cons: small side/rear windows, electronic e-brake, big doors which makes it hard to get in/out in regular parking spots (reminds of the Corvette), ugly two bumps on the dashboard above the gauges, the infotainment screen seems like a design afterthought, very limited storage in center console/door pockets. Pros of the '18 Mustang: A handle for the e-brake! The intoxicating sounding, under-rated updated engine with dual fuel injection, better interior design with better materials and storage, easier to get in/out, more usable trunk, looks good in PP1 trim, MagneRide, modes for the steering, exhaust, etc. Cons: Slightly heavier, unknown reliability with the upgraded engine. Actually, I don't think there's any deal breakers for me with the Mustang. Other than not being as good handling as the 1LE, I think it's a hell of a car with substantial aftermarket support to make it whatever you wish. I would love the 1LE for 5% of my driving, but the remaining 95% which is more street oriented, I think the Mustang is a better car.
I love all three big American muscle cars. The challenger was my faviourte but these new mustangs have really changed my mind. But I can't forget the camaro and it's incredible performance. Ugh it's so hard to choose which one
GI No that does sounds good. For me the challenger hellcat to daily, the zl1 1le for track days cause my STI is okay but it's also my current daily and the gt350 for weekend drives and what not
I didn't want to spend 50k on a loaded 2018 Mustang so I just bought a 2016 Mustang GT with 2100 miles. Its awesome, will get the 2018 in a few years when they are more affordable. Do not hesitate to get a Mustang, they are great cars for the money. My last sports car was a 2011 Corvette Z51 GS and I like my Mustang a lot better.
I agree! I had a 15 mustang and got it up to 46k miles never had a problem with it and sold it. Now I am waiting to land a barely used 18 in a few months.
THIS is the kinda review/comparison that we want to see! you pretty much touched on everything that's important and these two hosts work very well together (y) keep it up guys
mfnbigdaddy73 wrong. The redline ne was the regular one in the video. They also showed the ZL1 in several clips. First give away is the carbon fiber hood insert and the front end is also different
Mustang for me but it really needs a diet and the 6sp manual. 3600lbs is the most weight for a pony car imho. The Camaro is the better modern day version of the old “pony car” concept, but the mustang is the better GT/Daily driver.
All of the modern cars need a diet... I rented a vert s550 once and put it next to my s197 and it made mine look "compact"... and I had the same feeling when I got my s197 and put it next to my old 04 mach1... They are all getting unnecessarily large. Make em smaller (like between fox and sn95 size, 3200lbs) , make em out of aluminum, and watch GM try to fit a 9.38 liter engine in the camaro so they can keep up... :D
I used to be camaro only and really wanted a new SS. however I chose the cheaper option which was a 2014 5.0. Holy shit have I fallen in love with the coyote engine. Sounds beautiful. honestly, if you truly are a car enthusiast, you'll love any of the muscle cars on sale (excluding 5.7 hemis those are very slow unlike their scat pack/srt models)
The Camaro vent blows on your hand when it's on the gear lever. The Mustang vent blows on your had when it's on the steering wheel. Where is your hand going to be most often? It should be on the wheel.
JCTiggs because they have bias reviews, he pointed it out when he said in this day of camaro vs mustang loud wins, because motor trend said the gt350r was better than the ZL1 because it was louder
Dont forget the Mercedes-AMG C63 v. Cadillac ATS-V H2H with Jonny. The AMG was slower and it performed worse than the ATS-V, but then Jonny rambles on about some shit about how a car makes you feel, which I believe that how a car makes you feel is based upon opinion.
Great review! It's not often you see unbiased reviews where the reviewer lets the car talk for itself. I hate reviews where you can see 2 seconds into the video which car the person will choose before he even drives it. Much appreciated!
yeah, as a mustang fan, challenger for daily and mustang for drag... they may have the almighty demon, but you're less than 1 blower away on a mustang GT to match that power and then some. with a lot less weight to boot... and you can't beat the challenger's comfort for a daily driver. The camaro I'd sell to buy tires for the other two.
The fact that they used 12.6 as the quarter time for the camaro is disrespectiful. Also 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Lmao. My camaro ran 12.2 In the quarter with launch control and stock. And it will time 4.2 0-60 easy.
Since 2016 multiple reviews of the SS have the car doing 12.2 to 12.4 stock. Not talking no name reviews. Try Motor trend 2016 SS vs BMW or Motorweek 2016 SS. 12.6 is bullshit, I own a 16 SS AND have been a lifelong Mustang owner. The 18 Mustang is greatly improved and I lust for a Bullitt Mustang to keep my SS company in my garage so I am not biased at all. The review is a pretty good one, well done overall. One last thing, the blind spot is absolutely there. What most don't realize is how quickly you get used to it. I've owned several 69/ 70 Mach 1 Mustangs over the years, same thing, you adapt. How cool is it that they are building cars like these. You honestly can not go wrong be it a Mopar, Ford or Chevrolet, these days will end, ride the wave now and enjoy.
Loved this video. Thank You. I was in a Camaro SS, and it's awesome, but the Mustang is the better daily driver. I own a 2018 6 Speed Mustang GT, and it's a blast no matter how fast I'm going.
I’m a GM Guy who turned into a Ford guy over the years. But, these are both outstanding, and I respect both. I bought the Mustang, and would do it again for pretty much the reasons stated in this video. But again, much respect for the Camaro.
Wish you guys got your hands on auto vs auto, or manual vs manual. Also the Mustang should have been equipped with the performance pack, as it would have been equipped with 275mm summer tires, as opposed to the narrower all seasons (all Camaros come with 275mm summers--1LE gets 305mm summers). But thank you for being the first journalists to provide this direct comparison review.
Yes Camaro has run flats. But 275mm Goodyear Eagle F1 summer run flats are waaay better than the punny 235mm all season Pirelli's that base Mustang GT gets. Yes, the 275mm Michelin PS4s would give Stang an edge, but a base Stang GT with only Performance Pack is priced exactly in line with Camaro 1SS, that comparison is warranted.
Trevon Adams Hmm. That was a handy cap for sure. But hard to say, considering Mustangs 4.6s to 60mph results here, I think they got hurt pretty badly with traction. 235mm all seasons is what you get on a Camry or Accord.
Trevon Adams I think they were similarly equipped. Camaro had leather, so for sure 2SS. Mustang had leather too with digital dash, so it had premium package with 401A (or whatever it's called.. sorry I'm a Camaro owner). Basically, both were fully loaded. Only difference is that GM doesn't offer a "stripped out" V8. Mustang can be had with non-brembo brakes, and small tires. Same with Challenger/Charger. Hence why Camaros base entry price is always steeper. Not a bad thing IMO... But it is what it is. Prices show that base GT + PP = 1SS. Premium GT + PP = 2SS. And upcoming GT PP2 will likely be closer match to 1LE (both in performance and price).
I just drove a 2018 Camaro SS 8 speed auto and that car was amazing. I can deal with not seeing out the back for the better looks and who the hell it worries about what's behind you in these cars anyway. Lol
I bought my Camaro last April at 20 years old so I didn’t and still don’t have a lot of years of driving under my belt obviously and I got use to it probably within a day. People who complain about that must be too lazy to move their head or just trying to find a way to hate
I do.you never know what's coming behind you.. Too many guys on both Camaro and Mustang forums getting rear ended by people who are just being stupid. It was a deal breaker for me simply because I owned a corvette.. Car just felt redundant...
Thank you, who cares ab0ut the visibility it's a sports car, but a corolla if that's what you want, compare them for what they are not for silly shit like visibility or gas mileage, performance is what I want first then looks, then daily convince if possible
I think Mustang has the better looks but Camaro has the better engine and handling. If you're going for only a track car go with a Camaro but if you're going for a daily driver, for visibility issues, in the city go with the Mustang.
Camaro has a very linear engine and the mustang has a better reving engine. It winds up fast! Its all about driving style.. I would definetly not say the camaro has a better engine..
Mustangs are rougher rides though, people in my family own a 5.0 and a SS but the mustang is pretty uncomfortable for an everyday drive, but I’ve always liked the Camaro more and I’ve ridden in both
Both great cars. Just a matter of taste or loyalty........Both can be made even faster with simple bolt ons....Amazing how far these two cars have come since the days I purchased my first new Mustang GT back in 1985!
That was one of the most honest and balanced comparisons I've seen, great work. I agree with the assessment as a 2019 GT owner. The Camaro SS is better on a track, has better low rev torque for a stronger seat of the pants acceleration feeling, and it has better handling. For most people the Camaro will be maybe 2 ticks quicker 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. For pure performance the Camaro is better by a bit. But as a daily driver, the Camaro has annoyingly bad visibility and I fully agree living in Phoenix that vents down at the shift handle are ridiculous. For me I gave up a bit of performance to have far better visibility and a better interior. Like many I would also say that the Mustang looks and sounds better (stock exhaust). Each car has its strengths and weaknesses. In the end, the Mustang outsells the Camaro, so the public has voted with their pocket books for what it's worth.
What really matters is the average HP between swifts. The larger displacement engine has the advantage with a rolling start where the revs start very low. The high low rpm torque gives it more average hp in that scenario through first. However in a normal launch the average HP is higher with the Mustang so it's quicker 0-60 run. Acceleration is all about average power, torque measures what you can do and power measures how quickly you can do it.
What i like about my Mustang is the Magni-ride suspension. No lean on hard cornering, and handling is superb. Comfortable seats for long drives, and guests are happy as well as suprised they have power seats too. Proud owner for the 2nd time.
SS all the way it's basically just opinion theyre both close in HP the rest is all opinion the camaro is faster around a track I like the way the camaro sounds better too
Carlos, you are the last truly objective car reviewer i know of. Everyone else has some strange group-think love of everything Ford and Porsche, but not you.
In my opinion the new 2018 mustang looks way better than the 2015 version. It looks so much more menacing from the front end, even from the side, the front end looks way more badass
mustang had a better design overall. While i appreciate the aggressive styling on the camaro, the mustang has a presence on the road that no other car has.
Camaro because of the alpha chassis and the LS motor. So much more potential there. Heads, cam and a tune on the chevy and you've got BIG power. The best way to go in the stang is forced induction which is a little more pricey and involved, although I do think the mustang looks a little bit better (if it has a small tasteful wing on the back).
Robert Hull heads, cam, and tune and the coyote goes bonkers also and it’s smaller displacement. The coyote does respond better to forced induction than the LT/LS platform but that’s not the only way to make power with it. DOHC pentroof heads are just better and if GM build engines with DOHC at the same size as what they build now they could make Insane power just like if ford made engines with higher displacement Chevy wouldn’t be anywhere close to able to compete. The voodoo 5.2 in the gt350 is proof of that and they say the regular 5.2 is even more powerful.
+Robert Terhune - The voodoo uses a flat plane crank and has SHIT for torque. And you're trying to use that as an example of how much better Ford's engines are when the Camaro SS with the non-supercharged LT1 pushrod V8 makes more torque than the Voodoo does? In a smaller package? I'm not seeing any superiority from the voodoo here. It's hilarious how the Ford fanboys always forget about the whole torque thing. What do you think that extra displacement is doing? The regular Camaro SS makes both more torque AND more power than the GT350 does all the way past 6000 rpm. How do you think that happens? Do you even understand how any of this works?
Sweet!! Exactly what I wanted here. A chevy vs ford battle. Keep it going guys!! I'll start it off. The voodoo doesn't make any power until after about 4K rpm although it's an awesome engine. One of the best. The LT/LS are way easier to mod. Dual cams in the coyote as a reason. Although ford does get similar power from smaller displacement, but the coyote is huge physically. Which platform is better for making power guys??
Vernon Price the Ls does not have the top-end horsepower like the coyote 5.0. Top end is what a lot of racers are looking for. Yeah the Camaro has more torque but if you have no traction you're losing that is the favor of the Mustang you got to have traction and when it comes to roll racing that coyote seems to win and that is not even forced induction that's a different story.
Vernon Price Vernon Price the LS7 and voodoo made almost the same power but the voodoo had less low end torque and still the gt350 whooped the z28 at the strip so how much did the extra torque really help it? Even I thought for sure the z28 was gonna crush it in the drag because of the torque difference but it couldn’t. And the flat plane crank makes little to no difference as far as power goes which is why fords own 5.2 coyote with lesser heads makes the same or higher power with a traditional cross plane crank. Also I wasn’t using that as a comparison as to why ford engines are better more to illustrate how pentroof DOHC heads are better because those engines that were compared have the largest displacement difference and were still in the same league as far as performance. It’s a 7.0 being outclassed by a engine almost 2 liters smaller. And physical size doesn’t matter as long as it fits its intended platform and Chevy guys are always yelling that the coyote is too big and I get that the physical size is larger than the LS/LT platform engines but it still fits pretty tight engine bays with good success. People swap coyotes into miatas, Porsche’s, and many other small engine bay cars. And the regular camaro ss is advertised at 455/455 (which is weird when the crate engine that’s the same is advertising 435) and the gt350 makes 526/429 so more torque less power than a gt350 and just like the LS7 z28 would get smoked in the 1/4. anybody who knows anything besides the basics about cars knows that just like displacement torque has a replacement. For displacement it’s technology/sophistication for torque it’s RPM or gearing and the gt350 has RPM. All that aside, I do like fords engines more than GM engines for right now but only because they actually advance by leaps with each iteration whereas GM is afraid to take chances and chooses to stick with what they know. Really there is nothing wrong with that but it holds them back quite a bit. As of right now, they have the least efficient and least powerful v8’s of all the American manufacturers and vs Ford it makes sense but dodge doesn’t even have direct injection and they are still ahead of them. When they switch from the LS/LX chassis platform to the Alfa romeo giulia chassis and the cars get lighter then Chevy will be dead last in the USA. I get you love Chevy and you may even be a fan boy maybe not but if you can’t see that GM is not pushing the industry forward in any way then you and people like you are just as at fault as they are for supporting them and the half ass products they sell. Just saying.
I wanna go with Camaro because I'm more of a chevy guy, BUT the mustang is clearly the better car, at least in my opinion. Visibility is important when driving aggressively or driving at all, the vents are in the right place, more power, and it just looks better imo.
Bought the 18 mustang GT, but these are both very nice cars. Wish I could afford both. I understand everyone has their favorite as do I, but to be so brand loyal to dislike the other car seems ridiculous to me.
The camaro has 30lbs more torque and puts its power down faster at 4000 rpms. I drove both of these cars , the mustang is more comfortable IMO . The Camaro is a better performer hands down , way better chassis . Not even close .
Still not sold in the front end mostly because I don't like the way the fog lights are set up. Glad to know that the digital dash is an option, always been an analog guy myself I can see most people buying this version of the Mustang. The Camaro is nice but I've drove one and don't like the lack of being able to see out of it. That right there is enough to make me skip buying the Chevy. These cars should ALWAYS BE LOUD if you want one quiet go buy something else, this isn't the car for you. Give me a 6 speed GT with the level 2 PP and the magna ride, and turn the exhaust to loud and leave it there. Better yet rip the toggle switch off! Great review but I felt like you all should of tested the Mustang with the 6 speed.
After watching the video I went onto Ford's website to try and build the perfect stang, however I didnt see the PP2 option, just "GT Performance Package". Has Ford not officially released the 2?
Alan Bowers I don't believe that's it's listed under pp2 , it was a couple of weeks ago I did it. I'll get on my laptop and share the video and the build on here
The 2018 Mustang had to step up because it was getting thrashed by the new Camaro and Scat Pack Challenger. They will sell a ton of these but don’t be surprised when the younger crowd can’t afford the 50k price tag and all you see is the Ecoboost version. Love the realistic 0 to 60mph times. Magazines will hype 4.0sec times but, most can’t achieve that.
I agree 100%. I have had a 78 Z28, '86 Trans Am, 2002 Camaro, 2010 Camaro SS.....aaaannndd now I have a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 with the MT86. The Mustang is the most comfortable daily driver out of them all. I do miss the hatch of the 3rd and 4th gen F-bodies, I could fit SO much stuff in them Such as 2 mountain bikes and gear. But the 2019 GT is just awesome, and the active exhaust and factory shorty headers sound so good, who needs aftermarket?
Am I the only one who is getting bored with these Mustang vs. Camaro videos? It's the same thing every year. They both do different things for different people. Period.
My wife and I were recently out of state, and we rented a Camaro 1SS. I gotta say, we fell in love with it. The power and sound is intoxicating! I own an 06 Mustang GT, but it doesn't compare to the new Camaro. To be fair, I have not driven the new Mustang GT, but right now we are leaning towards the Camaro.
The ss vs the gt with the regular performance pack and no magnetic shocks for both would have been the right comparison then maybe another comparison could be the two of them with the magnetic shock option. The performance pack 2 was made to go against the 1le...those saying the normal performance pack should go against the 1le need to pay attention and hit up google
Saw a dyno video of the 18 gt. It said it had closer to 500 hp. But that only gives it 1/10th of a second faster to 60. Manual vs auto isn't a good comparison either. Autos are faster to 60 now.
CAMARO_KYLE You’re an idiot. I was saying that the 0-60 time listed in this video is slow. They had it at 4.5 if I remember correctly. Motor Trend has gotten as low at 3.9 with the auto. Find something better to do with your life than respond to UA-cam comments.
I have testdrived the mustang and it feels fantastic, however I have just came come from US vacation where i was driving the cammaro on paciffic highway, interstate 1 in cab cammaro. It was Beautiful, you wont be disapointed in any of the cars!!!
One of the best mustang/camaro comparaison review I've seen in a long long while! Congrats. Good to see Carlo back too. Gwt team both of you. Kept doing it. Cheers
Love the 2015 Mustang GT more... mainly for its looks.. Nothing looks as menacing as a slammed 15 Mustang sitting on massive tires that poke out just under the fenders. Increased air Intake, a ported throttle body, exhaust system and add a tune, it really takes that car past the power numbers in the 2018 model. If you pair that with beefier 305/285 tires and suspension upgrades the 2015 is the better car. You can find a fairly new 15-17 GT for under $25k. Nothing beats the satisfaction of turning a used mustang into a track monster.
You got a 12.6 quarter mile for the Mustang with the automatic...but you got a 12.6 quarter mile with the manual Camaro.... that's just terrible driving..
And? The Mustang had the better transmission and it tied the slower, manual transmission car. The automatic Camaro is a 12.2-12.3 car....The Mustang should have won that... and I'm a Camaro guy..
It's just because of the tires, 60ft is a MASSIVE influence on 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. With the PP summer tires, the mustang is a low 12-sec high 11-sec car
ZL1 vs 5.0?? LOL Edmunds, most of your viewers will be car people. Did you think we wouldn't notice?! Edmunds: Just throw the shots of the ZL1 in there, it's the same color no one will know.....
While I miss Carlos' prior work, I'm really liking Mark and Carlos together. Carlos is somewhat calculating, while Mark is the everyman who isn't afraid to be wowed. It's a great combo, and I hope to see more of this from Edmunds.
JoshJLMG Productions The 6.2 is still a small block engine I believe, 2 valves per cylinder compared to the 5.0 which has 4 valves per cylinder. Anyway they're both great engines but the 6.2 sounds a lot better to me and I prefer the looks and driving dynamics of the chevy.

Congratulations, you included clips of driving a camaro zl1 in a base model ss vs mustang gt video👏🏻
Congrats. You're the only one to give a shit.
@@chancewindham1718 Nah there's a fuck ton of these comments. He's definitely not the only one
thanks. because that's retarded. why do that?
Did anyone notice the Zl1
Yes just now and came looking for comments about the ZL1 haha.
That’s the first thing i noticed. Lol
yes. lol their camera must have stopped working during filming
Yeah, I was going to comment the same right now, ZL1 at 5:37
As soon as I saw the grill I said wait a minute... Lol.
"They do, but not for this" I died!!!!!!
Same! I was going to quote it in the comments too haha
I actually saw this the exact time he said it lol
Guwop Salas I laughed at that part😂😂

I love all three big American muscle cars. The challenger was my faviourte but these new mustangs have really changed my mind. But I can't forget the camaro and it's incredible performance. Ugh it's so hard to choose which one
I know right. If only I was rich. I would have a zl1, nice 2ss, gt350/r, nice gt (PP of course), and a scatpack or hellcat.
It’s honestly all about personal preference
I agree! I had a 15 mustang and got it up to 46k miles never had a problem with it and sold it. Now I am waiting to land a barely used 18 in a few months.
THIS is the kinda review/comparison that we want to see! you pretty much touched on everything that's important and these two hosts work very well together (y)
keep it up guys
Am I the only one who noticed that they mixed in a few shots of a ZL1 Camaro in this video? 5:38, 6:22, 6:43, 7:01
I noticed it but I thought I might have been going crazy for a second.
Galatians1ten No, you're not the only one. Hehehe
RED LINE not a ZL1
mfnbigdaddy73 wrong. The redline ne was the regular one in the video. They also showed the ZL1 in several clips. First give away is the carbon fiber hood insert and the front end is also different
Nope you aren't
As an owner of a 2017 727 Mustang I’m obviously biased. That aside. Love the duo. Great review gentlemen. Subscribed for more similar content.
Donnie Burke ghghb n
I used to be camaro only and really wanted a new SS. however I chose the cheaper option which was a 2014 5.0. Holy shit have I fallen in love with the coyote engine. Sounds beautiful. honestly, if you truly are a car enthusiast, you'll love any of the muscle cars on sale (excluding 5.7 hemis those are very slow unlike their scat pack/srt models)
The Camaro vent blows on your hand when it's on the gear lever. The Mustang vent blows on your had when it's on the steering wheel. Where is your hand going to be most often? It should be on the wheel.
Camaro's visibility bothers only those who don't own one.
The visibility sucks but you get use to it.
Manish Singh what about the awful sound system
pontiacGXPfan they come with bose now
It doesn't play CDs... that's my biggest gripe with it
gl0inup most companies don't. I buy all mine second hand because the sound quality is way the hell better than what you get on a smartphone
You guys are the 1st to compare the 2 but why does the camaro keep changing into a zl1?
FullBattleRattle 249 It's a secret top of the line model... the *S* hape *S* hifter
Yea I didn't understand this
Probably just stock track footage they had
It's a transformer duh
"So your neighbors don't hate you."
"They do but not for this."
XDDD
How many times is carlos going to switch companies?
Yeah he really can't make up his mind.
at least 17 more times
Edmunds also got Cammisa. Maybe this will be good.
Didn't he come from motortrend?
Yes both Carlos and Cammisa are from Motor Trend.
Good to see you back Carlos as a proper journalist
Larlos Cago!!!!!!!!!
Vayetsii Did he leave MotorTrend?
JCTiggs because they have bias reviews, he pointed it out when he said in this day of camaro vs mustang loud wins, because motor trend said the gt350r was better than the ZL1 because it was louder
Dont forget the Mercedes-AMG C63 v. Cadillac ATS-V H2H with Jonny. The AMG was slower and it performed worse than the ATS-V, but then Jonny rambles on about some shit about how a car makes you feel, which I believe that how a car makes you feel is based upon opinion.
Lieutenant McGarett
Prius Hunter Lol and the fact that you’re comparing a shit Cadillac to a Mercedes AMG
The Camaro is a super nice car no doubt and im sure I would enjoy it but I have a 18 Gt premium performance package car and I absolutely love it.
Very comprehensive review of both cars. I personally love the mustang. I would have liked to see a quarter mile drag race between both cars.
Great review! It's not often you see unbiased reviews where the reviewer lets the car talk for itself. I hate reviews where you can see 2 seconds into the video which car the person will choose before he even drives it. Much appreciated!
Those stangs really wake up with a CAI and e85 tune. 7500rpm redline is nice too!
with only 5.0, it needs the 7500 redline to compete. plus 2 cams.
I'll take all three Muscle cars. The Mustang for daily driving, Camaro for track, and Challenger for drag .
Challenger is the #1 daily driver, it actually seats 4 people, not 2 adults and 2 quadriplegics ...
yeah, as a mustang fan, challenger for daily and mustang for drag... they may have the almighty demon, but you're less than 1 blower away on a mustang GT to match that power and then some. with a lot less weight to boot... and you can't beat the challenger's comfort for a daily driver. The camaro I'd sell to buy tires for the other two.
Never buy a Chrysler for a daily driver unless you like your daily driver to start falling apart after 50,000 miles
In love with this episode, hope to see more. Thank you
+1 for saying 'head up display' and not 'heads up display' like everyone mistakenly does.
The fact that they used 12.6 as the quarter time for the camaro is disrespectiful. Also 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Lmao. My camaro ran 12.2 In the quarter with launch control and stock. And it will time 4.2 0-60 easy.
Spencer Strait
2018 Stang is quicker
Awesome Things taking one of them out isn’t going to shave off half a second on the 0-60, they clearly got the specs wrong for the camaro. 0-60 is 4.2
Since 2016 multiple reviews of the SS have the car doing 12.2 to 12.4 stock.
@@stricknine8623 it's really not off the line. It catches up in the top end though. But at that point you're really at 120mph
Camaro here was manuel. Simple as that..
Loved this video. Thank You. I was in a Camaro SS, and it's awesome, but the Mustang is the better daily driver. I own a 2018 6 Speed Mustang GT, and it's a blast no matter how fast I'm going.
5:38 and 5:56 two different Cameros, 1SS ans 1ZL1
I’m a GM Guy who turned into a Ford guy over the years. But, these are both outstanding, and I respect both. I bought the Mustang, and would do it again for pretty much the reasons stated in this video. But again, much respect for the Camaro.
Why did the shots of the Camaro switch between a Zl1 and a ss?
I think they're trying to sell the camaro to the viewers.
You gotta do what you gotta do if you want that camaro to keep up with the Stang 😎
Editing error
it was bumblebee
I had a lot of fun watching this, thanks guys! And a huge thank-you for showing us the GT’s paddle shifters in action, MUCH appreciated.
Carlos what's up homie
Nice vid dude hope to see you more
My pick is Mustang
Yeah, chose Mustang as well.
Camaro has and will always be my most favorite out of the Mustang and Charger muscle car group.
Mustang has mustang will be always my favorite out of the camaro and dodge group
cuz ur stupid
@@ario5701 nah dats your mom
Dwayne Lewis sure bud
It’s ok to be on the losing side
This war is never going to end...I love it ! Mustang or Camero is like the never ending war
Yes, but Chevy doesn’t take it as serious as they did in 2016 and they will get passed if they don’t start improving like in 2016
I just drove a 2018 Camaro SS 8 speed auto and that car was amazing. I can deal with not seeing out the back for the better looks and who the hell it worries about what's behind you in these cars anyway. Lol
Build0001 trust me you get used to it. The reason you want the camaro is that fat low end power.
I bought my Camaro last April at 20 years old so I didn’t and still don’t have a lot of years of driving under my belt obviously and I got use to it probably within a day. People who complain about that must be too lazy to move their head or just trying to find a way to hate
And like you said it’s a better looking car
Adam D - not a better engine, also track wise depends on the mustang
Not really, that’s only the case with the ZL1 camaro.
Camaro has a very linear engine and the mustang has a better reving engine. It winds up fast! Its all about driving style.. I would definetly not say the camaro has a better engine..
Mustangs are rougher rides though, people in my family own a 5.0 and a SS but the mustang is pretty uncomfortable for an everyday drive, but I’ve always liked the Camaro more and I’ve ridden in both
I honestly don't have problems seeing out of my Camaro 🤷
Both great cars. Just a matter of taste or loyalty........Both can be made even faster with simple bolt ons....Amazing how far these two cars have come since the days I purchased my first new Mustang GT back in 1985!
I love pretty much everything about the Mustang, including just the way it looks.
Carlos! from motortrend; now to edmunds! its great to even see you again.
Camaro wins imo. But I may be a bit biased considering I own one.
Don't worry I'll be biased and choose Mustang lol
Same lol
Me too but I think it looks better anyway or I would have bought a mustang lol
Like the Camaro, but want the 2018 Mustang GT!! Nice review!
In the end, the Mustang outsells the Camaro, so the public has voted with their pocket books for what it's worth.
real talk
I'm a GM guy, but I think I want the Mustang more. Never thought I'd say that. Probably gonna trade my GTO in on one.
Loved the review. Great presentation and camera work. Really envy you for your jobs tho 🤣
Carlos, good to see you again. Great review to both of you.
Thank you
he was talking about the camaro being down on torque. It has 35 lb/ft more. the mustang is down on torque yet has 5 more horsepower.
I always thought the ss was faster 0-60, 1/4 mile.
What i like about my Mustang is the Magni-ride suspension. No lean on hard cornering, and handling is superb. Comfortable seats for long drives, and guests are happy as well as suprised they have power seats too. Proud owner for the 2nd time.
SS all the way it's basically just opinion theyre both close in HP the rest is all opinion the camaro is faster around a track I like the way the camaro sounds better too
There you are Carlos, I miss your ignition soooooooooooo much. Glad I can see you again
I'll take the camaro. Both machines are awesome, but I love my camaros
Juan Jose, this is called refreshing
Man I’m glad I finally found someone in the comments who agrees
Juan Jose The 2018 stangs headlights look wack
I agree. I had a 2015 too
Juan Jose it really looks like a snake to me. So badass
mustang had a better design overall.
4.6 from 0-60??? I thought it's under 4 seconds for the 10 speed auto???
This one was a manual plus low 4's
It is
Im a chevy guy and i bought a 2018 GT 6 speed PP1.
No, the ONLY Mustang to buy is with the Performance Package. Trust me.
Bought the 18 mustang GT, but these are both very nice cars. Wish I could afford both. I understand everyone has their favorite as do I, but to be so brand loyal to dislike the other car seems ridiculous to me.
the 2018 mustang is 3.9 0 to 60 not 4.7.
It's just the best they could do.
Perfect comparaison resume!
The camaro has 30lbs more torque and puts its power down faster at 4000 rpms. I drove both of these cars , the mustang is more comfortable IMO . The Camaro is a better performer hands down , way better chassis . Not even close .
Nice, unbiased review. The manual is the bomb. And yes, I have a 2SS with a stick.
i wish my new camaro ss could transform into the zl1! maybe i’m doing it wrong, anybody knows how to make my camaro ss transform into zl1?
Trade it in...
It's called money.
I'll get on my laptop and share the video and the build on here
Build it like this one is listed in the video. ua-cam.com/video/uJrWZxpXzus/v-deo.html
The face looks like a focus rs with a mustang body... imo
PP2 is a delayed release. They'll start being delivered march 2018
Here for Carlos. Please make more MT style videos...
Period.
Logan R STFU libertads..
I wonder if there will be some kind of add on or tune that can change the delay on mustang paddles.
Great review and great chemistry
For a truly unbiased review, you should have the same driver for both cars.
Their 0-60 time for the Camaro is way slow. Also, the Camaro makes 5 fewer hp than the Mustang, but more torque not less.
nolefan87 mustang packing more heat than advertised.
Saw a dyno video of the 18 gt. It said it had closer to 500 hp. But that only gives it 1/10th of a second faster to 60. Manual vs auto isn't a good comparison either. Autos are faster to 60 now.
500 at the crank, roughly 425 at the wheels. Where the SS has around 412 or 415 at the wheels
Rob Leatherberry 0-60 in 4 seconds flat is way slow?, lmao do research before you say some dumb shit.
Why did they test the mustang with those junk P-Zero tires? That kills any kind of handling it may have.
way better than the goodyear eagle F1 runflats the camaro comes with.
One of the best mustang/camaro comparaison review I've seen in a long long while! Congrats. Good to see Carlo back too. Gwt team both of you. Kept doing it. Cheers
0:24 Couldn't agree more! Love muh V8!
I wish they actually test them against each other and track them good to see Carlos
My pick is camero
Devils Reject who cares bro
No, that's just all season tires on the Mustang.
SGS Jake - you say this based on what tests exactly?
5:35 I wish my SS transformed into a ZL1.. Is that feature factory included or aftermarket camera editing?
We wish too! Sorry, this was an editing faux pas on our part since we had both on the track on the same day. And what a lovely day it was..
ZL1 vs 5.0?? LOL Edmunds, most of your viewers will be car people. Did you think we wouldn't notice?!
Edmunds: Just throw the shots of the ZL1 in there, it's the same color no one will know.....
Frank Ionni yeah for some reason they switched back and forth from the SS to the ZL1 good eye man !
Ummmmm at 5:39 thats a zl1 but 5 seconds previous was the wheel of a ss with a redline package and now im just confused
While I miss Carlos' prior work, I'm really liking Mark and Carlos together. Carlos is somewhat calculating, while Mark is the everyman who isn't afraid to be wowed. It's a great combo, and I hope to see more of this from Edmunds.
6.2 for me 😍
najrani741 They can't even make the same horsepower with a bigger engine!
JoshJLMG Productions
The 6.2 is still a small block engine I believe, 2 valves per cylinder compared to the 5.0 which has 4 valves per cylinder. Anyway they're both great engines but the 6.2 sounds a lot better to me and I prefer the looks and driving dynamics of the chevy.
najrani741 Okee dokee
Naw, that 6.2 is tame with it's lower revs.
JoshJLMG Productions The LT1 has a better power band and makes more power/torque. Nice try.
Why at 5:41 are they showing a zl1 and not the SS
Of course the engine light is on on the mustang
Engine was off and the reds were on, the check engine light comes on by default in that mode until the engine is running.
