Who the hell tries to launch at over 4000 RPM on street tires
Umm.... Tiff Nedell 🤣
Get some better tyres bruh. My launch control holds at those revs too.
On a non prepared surface, on cold street tires.🤦♂️
People who drive 4 bangers
He isn’t used to that much torque that low in the rpm
Camaro is actually a 6.2 liter not a 6.0 liter
it's just a lot.
They got the horsepower numbers wrong as well
The European versions have different specs.
Also Camaro has the MagnaRide
Wish they would have tested 1LE and PP2 versions
Ghost RacerX euro versions aren’t getting a totally different motor
As an american its funny watching to old englishmen drive modern american pony cars
They're GT cars not Pony's.
Nathan Todd they’re pony cars
@@DaLizMs
They both have been pony cars since the 1960s.
Kanye North they are pony cars.
The gt500 is not a "ponycar"
Test a ZL1 and a GT500 then let’s talk performance of American muscle cars vs European.
fax, def the ZL1 1LE
Gt 500 would win 😂
Conner McGarrah no doubt! The ZL1 1LE was king for a few years.
Grant Warren Still is. To be the man you gotta beat the man and Ford refuses to run it. The GT 500 will win 9 out of 10 times in a quarter mile. But it should. On road courses all I’ve seen is excuses why it’s lost.
Humm the ZL1/GT500 there still a bit slow for me and my Porsche.
Imagine not being able to launch a mustang 3 times in a row.
He failed so hard. Like you got launch control. The car is doing the work! But he set it wayyyy too high for cold street tires on unprepped surface. I knew he was gonna lose as soon as he set it to 5000
@A real bisexual petrol-head ok well if he wants to have the worst possible launches that enable a 4 cylinder auto to outrun him - he succeeded. But the purpose of this video was to show how the cars stack up. If we have one car driven by someone who is doing a decent job and another car being driven by someone who has no idea what they are doing - it isn't even worth watching. One car is going to look pathetic because the person behind the wheel shouldn't be there.
@A real bisexual petrol-head Its a car review. So ya. It matters. He was clueless.
@Squirmin Herman the one eyed German maybe in germany
@A real bisexual petrol-head The driver murdered himself. I suppose it could be caulked up to Euros not knowing how to go fast, in a straight line!
.
lol
🤣🤣🤣 Jason "I may have knicked the start, but I won by MILES"!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You have to launch the mustang at much lower RPM. High 2000s to low 3000s. 4000 and higher is way way to high.
@A real bisexual petrol-head
So he should learn to drive. He just gave a recommendation.
Wtf? 😂😂
Even the cornering was awful.
Its a fun to watch video but this video can't say eneything about the cars.
A real bisexual petrol-head why you so pressed?😂😂 he was giving a recommendation on how to get better performance out of the car, wasn’t being rude at all🤣🤣🤣
You idiots he is using launch control.
🐎you guys had me 😁smiling😁 the whole time🏁

Old english men driving american muscle cars doing performance tests with them? Watching them trying to do that was very comical.😂😂

These are pony cars. Muscle Cars are Cheville, Hornet, Charger, 🤣
Isnt the magna ride in the Ford actually a GM system!? :D
But the Only in a straight line thing got to stop, they have been good for about 10 years now
Magneride is developed by Delphi automotive a British division of GM.
But yeah GM funded them so one can say its a GM thing. Still its not entirely GM patented...thats why Ferrari, Ford, GMs, Holdens and a lot of brands use them
More like 20 years. But part of being a muscle car means it shouldn't be a sports car. You want to have to use the throttle to steer, and you want it to be slightly nervous. Otherwise, the fun is gone. It sounds like I am being facetious, but just look at them enjoying the Camaro so much more.
The gear boxes are both from GM as well. The 10 speed that is in these cars (the thing that makes them so much faster) is made by ford lol
Ok the 10 speed was co developed by gm and ford
Magana ride was first on a old lexeus early 1990s
I do miss the banter between Tiff and Jason
He really tried to launch at 5500 RPM?! LOLOLOL
He really tried to launch at 4200 RPM... On stock tires with an unpreped surface.

The horsepower's are pretty identical. These are 2018 models. I like the 2020 versions I ran across some rare Mustang exports that I am sure the UK would love. Nice review Fifth Gear.
As a British/Canadian I cringed at these two “pros” launch techniques. Sad.
Terrible launched. It’s an American V8, not a Japanese 4 cylinder. You cannot launch in high RPMs.
The sounds those cars make, incredible
Watching this 2 heroes going head to head doing silly things is bigly nice but in the same time i realized how old I am 😁
Good to see you guys across the pond still love your manual transmissions true car driver relation unlike over here in America.
To anyone in the UK, there’s a few things they got wrong and maybe it’s different for the UK models but this is how it is in the US. The camaro comes with 455 horsepower and 455 ft lbs of torque in American power measurements, you can calculate that how you’d like. It has a 6.2L V8 not a 6.0 as well. Also, the 1SS base interior model does not come with magnetic ride control, but the 2SS does. It also has a feature they didn’t use in the drag racing, it actually has a no lift shift feature where if you keep your foot on the gas in between shifts as long as you’re over 5,000 RPM it won’t keep the RPMs going it will adjust timing to go to exactly where you want to be for the shift and it makes your shift times a lot better. The mustang has a 5.0L V8 with 460 horsepower and 420 ft lbs of torque. The mustang weighs 3705 lbs and the camaro weighs 3685 lbs so it’s lighter but ever so slightly. When racing around a corner track as well the camaro is usually easier to move around a track than the mustang is because the mustang is very heavy in the front with a light rear end cause the engine is heavier so it’s easy to swing the back end out. The camaro is a little more balanced on weight distribution than the mustang is which makes a big difference if your goal is road course racing.
Crackin video!
Great video!
I love Tiff and even Jason, at times. LOL.
The reason why the camaro won the drag race is because fords 5.0 V8 dosen't make much low end torque the same way the LS does. Fords V8 only makes power top end where gm's v8 makes torque all thru out the power band. Gm is just better with engine's
The chassis is better on the Camaro. But the suspension between those two specific cars the mustang is better but gm invented the mag ride, you can get it in the Camaro.
Could you possibly do a video of two 2003 cars battling?
I noticed the Face-lift Camaro wasn't present...
Good
I think this video could be old
This was the 2015 models. The new Mustang makes a like 50 more hp.
Great item thanks
MRC vs track suspension? And the SS definitely has launch control
HSV in Australia do Right Hand conversion of the Camaro.
*Did
High taxation in Australia kills the price, 2ss tax $18000 new . In USA 2ss same specs $47000usd without taxes in USA as USA doesn't have federal consumption tax
He was smokin’ those strange tires lol. 2300 rpm launch control on those aw tires lol
Driving the Camaro SS 1LE or ZL-1 and Mustang GT PP2 or GT350/500 would be a whole different experience. These are your run of the mill, mid-grade ponycars. It's like the difference between a BMW 435i and an M4 GTS. I guess it's representative of the most popular versions so it's all good.
The GT350R is like the M4 GTS, my 2018 Track Pack GT350 would probably be as quick as an M4 comp
@@RCXDerp SS 1le beat the m4 gts at willow springs raceway
As the old racers adage goes, “there’s no substitution for cubic inches”
The Camaro is available with Magnetic Ride suspension. It's an $1800 dollar option and worth it.
Any v8 sounds amazing tough to decide on what looks better...
Love this
This is what you get when you try to teach an old dog new tricks, epic fails.
Alpha platform for the camaro makes it superior. You can really see the difference when you watch a professional racer push the car to its limits.
0-62 hahaha nice video! I love driving my Yank Tank!
Why do so many play off drag racing, get that's when they had the biggest smile on their faces. lol
Miss the banter, Tiff and Plato should have their own TV show. Maybe add Jason Cammisa or Elana Scherr to help with US ratings.
Tiff is getting old, glad he still at it. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Regardless of who won, that was one excellent sounding face off! Everyone wins getting to listen to those V8s haha. I also got a kick out of the way you guys talk about these two cars like you’re slightly unfamiliar with them. I pass 5 Mustang GTs each day (and have owned three 5.0s and a 3.7l Mustang myself) and 90% of American teenagers that are into cars can recite the specs from memory of at least one of the current three Pony Cars.
Anyway, glad you guys “across the pond” can appreciate the progress that American carmakers have made with their performance cars. We’ve always had the Corvette in the category but the latest Mustang and Camaro models are legit Sports Cars now. The Challenger can’t quite make the “Sports Car” claim but it has plenty of merit on its own. 717hp for $62k and 797hp for $73k have to be some sort of record for horsepower per dollar and the most impressive thing about Hellcats is that you can easily daily drive one and they’re actually quite comfortable and easy to live with, much more so than a ZL1 Camaro or Shelby Mustang.
Damn the Camaro had no magnaride and it still walked the stang to school geez
spinning ain't winning, gotta know what you're doing.
Mustang isn't a performance pack car...
@@brentboswell1294 The Camaro isn't a 1LE either, it doesn't even have magneride. It has the base suspension.
@@vernonprice5986 the Performance Package gives the Mustang a 3.73 rear end, and wider rubber on the rear (285 width), which would make the car quicker to accelerate and quicker through the corners. It also gives you a track tuned suspension (the stock suspension is more street oriented)
@@brentboswell1294 Yes, I know what the performance pack is. Do you know what the 1LE package is? It doesn't sou8nd like you do. Maybe you should look it up. Once again, the Camaro in this video is a BASE MODEWL V8 Camaro. Base suspension, no magneride. And it still obliterated the Mustang that DOES have magneride by 2 seconds a lap.
A 1LE with magneride would destroy the Mustang so badly there wouldn't even be a point in comparing them.
The Camaro SS also comes with launch control. I've never used it.
That Hamster sounds the same but looks a bit different.
Im a die hard chewy. But I wish Chevy had more future all digital gauges other then that the Camaro look awesome
These two Brits should stop for a “spot ta tea” after this😂
Ran a 2019 Camaro 2ss 10 auto to a 12.30@115 in the 1/4 mile on stock tires. You can get the Camaro SS with launch control. A stock Mustang 5.0 ran an 11.8@119 in the 1/4 mile with the 10 auto and I believe the Camaro has gone 12.1 or 12.2.
Camaro6 forum has official slips and times for stock 10 speed camaros. Best run recorded to date is an 11.9
Y’all say all this but at the end of the day y’all don’t got a video to prove it like this one. In reality camaro is faster
That's why you don't let them tune a car to it's "preferences" to their roads it can mess with the performance of the car
It will, but it doesn't really change the outcome. Even the slalom could've been a win if he drove better
Isn't the UK spec Mustang down on hp compared to the US spec?
Regardless right hand, auto with magna ride. Bow tie pride 🇺🇸
Yeah they are both de-tuned about equally from US to UK spec, but you would still fet the same result in US spec, but slightly quicker times
Fun fact the camaro zl11le is banned in UK because the front is too sharp
@@alexj.5207 That's the dumbest thing I've heard since someone said there's more than 2 genders
Alex J. They’re not banned there. They just can’t sell them there because the dive planes don’t meet their pedestrian safety laws but if you own one it’s still legal to drive on their roads.
Those didn't look like PP2 & LE 1 packaged cars, mustang had magna ride but not PP2 wheel/tire package.
if it was me, i'd be launching that mustang between 2500-3000 rpm.

Need to use Launch control at about 3200 rpm on stock tires. Mustangs also have about 1,000 rpm higher redline than the Camaro. Trust the gearing and the track race is a dead heat that comes down to the driver.
Mustangs make their power at much higher rpms and love to rev on the track.
Recap use launch control at around 3200 rpm for little to no wheel spin and keep rpm up on the street courses.
They make it sound like the suspension in both cars is made of wood.
Fun stuff, you daffy Brits! Nice banter. I enjoyed the vid, even though I'm TOTALLY a Mustang aficionado and have been all my life. I don't care that the Stang lost, really, because I don't have any idea of your comparative driving skills (not that I would care all that much anyway). What I DO have a problem with is when one driver takes Car A and stays with it for all tests, and the other driver takes Car B and stays with it. So. Who knows which driver is better, or which car FITS that driver's style better? And who knows which options each car has available (you're only touched on this)? Tiff never figured out launch control on the 'Stang, so its advantage there was cancelled out (no offense, Tiff). YOU CANNOT LAUNCH at 5,000 RPM, nor 4200. A predictable loss, in both cases. I find with my GT500, I do a launch in first gear, with VERY low revs, 3,000 or so (not sure, because I FEEL it). I shift into second at between 4,000 and 5,000, then I wind the crap out of it in second. But, really, good stuff, guys. The bottom line for us Yanks: If you're a Chevy fan, you'll buy a Camaro, and if you're a Mustang fan, there is absolutely no other car which will do. Brits, I assume, will not adhere to the same loyalties.
Camaro stays putting the Mustang in 2nd place. But hey at least it's much better than the Challenger though lol
wait i’ve seen this before
They're driving 2018 models in 2020? This is old vido..
I would be sooo much happier to see them test drive the Shelby GT500 and the camaro zl1 1le
I like how they mention the Camaro "not putting the power down" well in the corners. Welcome to America, we have good old fashioned push-rod torque. :)
I would love to see them with a Shelby GT350R and a Camaro 1LE next!
This camaro was a 1le. It had recaros and magnetic ride. The Euro versions get all the goodies.
@@al151 I don't see the black hood or lip spoiler, which is the signature look of all 1LE's, you sure that Camaro is a 1LE?

To make it absolutely decisive they should have switched cars and lanes between the runs. The driver in the Mustang totally blows. Wow!

no replacement for displacement 5.0 vs 6.2 - Ha! HA! launch control should be set between 2800 to 3200 RPM - and get the tires warm, they are both wearing jackets it must be cold when you did this
Their observations are the opposite of the findings of every major media outlet. They thought the camaro was fidgety and every US magazine thinks the camaro has a better chassis hands down. Everyday livability is a different story though
you can see it wobble in the video
langra man bullshit
I have owned the lotus Elise and the lotus evora so I know a brilliant chassis when I see it. The camaro is based on GM’s alpha platform. One of the best engineered chassis in the business
@@joetz1 Depends a lot on the tires, track temp, tire pressures, etc etc. Clearly if the Mustang had a better chassis altogether the difference in lap time would not have been that big.
magnaride on the SS might help some to calm the car down.
@@joetz1 GM went bankrupt in Europe sold up. They were known for making poor handling cars
Two things : First, you don't use Launch Control in a Drag Race. That's a rookie mistake. Second, this wasn't a fair comparison. The Mustang used was a European model with significantly less horsepower than it's American counterpart, and the Camaro was, as far as I saw, the same as the one sold in America. I know, I have the American version Mustang GT, which has 460 hp stock. Also, the stock tires on the Mustang suck. They allow too much wheel hop. I've raced a different Camaro SS on three separate occasions, and won every time, but it was very close, and one could have gone either way. I was glad to see Manuals in both rides. Mine is Manual as well.
they should send you a GT350 or GT500 Mustang... the normal GT is like sending you a Porsche Carrera vs a Turbo S
How would that be fair to the base Camaro?
GT350 & GT500 aren't available in the UK which is the whole point of the test?

What's the point? Focus is about as American as Porsche 911.
Sierra, Mondeo, Cortina, Granada, Capri, .........but the White Ford Transit Van is the most ubiquitous ;)
Ford of Europe is a subsidiary of FoMoCo based in Germany, the Fords sold in Britain aren't considered to be American cars.

the Camaro is actually on a better chasis but you wouldn't be able to tell if the mustang has magna ride and it's a base model ss. An as 1le is almost gt350 good
Try the ZL1 camaro, Gt350r or gt500 mustang. If you want to really test our cars try a Zr1 Corvette c7, C8 Corvette or a Dodge Viper ACR. I guarantee any of those cars will outrun most of your cars on the track and straight line
The Camaro as launch control! Lol. I have a 2018 Camaro and I’ve used it. 😉
Plato looks 15 years older than Tiff here.
Launching a manual Mustang is hard. My auto stang was pretty easy and the gearbox makes it even easier. My current manual one (10 speed auto is shit outside of the drag strip. DO NOT BUY IT, ever, if you enjoy driving cars) is REALLY hard to launch proper compared to most manual cars. Also there's alot of axle hop unless you're in drag mode specifically. Car shakes apart in anything but drag mode as soon as there's wheel slip in the rear :p It's definately not a get-in-and-go car if you want proper performance out of it. The Auto is but it will kill you in slow traffic by either lunging into the car infront due to gearbox not being able to decide gears and keep the RPM regardless, or lunge you into a wall when trying to slowly creep away from traffic. God it's awful. Chevy using the same 10speed is superb due to proper gearbox control module tuning. Mustangs are comepletely lost between the throttle input, torque converter and the gearbox. It's a lottery everytime those 3 have to join forces and get you going :(
ALso random error codes for no obvious reasons and the Dealer sais "nothing wrong here". Again: Avoid the Auto unless you ONLY want to drag race it. It's sick in the drag. Manual EU mustangs sadly get the 3.55 gearing wich is nice for driving about if you fancy a bit taller gears, auto is as fast as a Manual Corvet C7 from a rolling start. That's how much faster the 10 speed shifts under 100% throttle. Hopeless in any other situation and there's a 3-4 10'ths delay in every paddle shift. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
Brilliant
And they still won't buy these when they are taxed like equal displacement supercars annually
The Camaro is so much more agile!👍
I find it hilarious because Ford is using GMs magnetic damping system not entirely but you know what I mean
This video is a couple years old.
People slating Tiff, forgetting he once raced in formula 1. Sat at home in ya pants thinking your a better driver.
Such a sad personality trait to have.
But I agree, I think Tiff got the launch control wrong this time. Playing upto the camera, Lost him the race. Though I think the Camaro would of probably still won.
Regardless, I hope we see more American cars on our roads. Have bags more character than the German barges.
"Stubby gear change" does he mean shifter!?!
Is English not your first language or something?
There's a difference between English and American English.
What he said was perfectly fine.
The camaro would have been even faster with magnetic ride control like the mustang had.
Right! What happened to the even comparison?
What’s sad is. It beat it in everything except the first test... I like Mustangs. But the Camaro just looks better
@@samduran5180 This review gave the Camaro the advantage. The driver behind the wheel is the biggest factor and that Mustang driver sucked.
Camaro is more of a focused sports car.
WT where did they get these numbers from? the 2018 gen 3 coyote is 460 hp, i got one in the driveway, it's 0-60 is 3.9 seconds. the 6.2* in the camaro has 455 hp, and that 4.4 0-60 i think is close. the 2018 is super easy to launch, just ft break to 2k or 2500 and release, the car does the rest lol
No, Your mustang is slower. I see it weekly at the track
Auto camaro does 4flat, this channels specs are a little off
old mate in the mustang looks like hes gonna croak any day now
Where is the Challenger???
The guy launching the mustang hurt so bad to watch him launch over 4K revs like why you make it look so bad 😭. It should be way closer if you don’t wheelspin
I feel like this is a repost...again.
Also the Camaro should be faster than the GT in the corners. In Motor Trend's initial test back in 2016 the standard SS matched the M4 in every single metric.
It should be, but you have to drive fast, he was going rather slow so the camaro understeered a bit in some corners
By "matched" you mean destroyed by 2-4 seconds...
@@Krapper515 If memory serves that had basically the same quarter mile (though the Camaro was more consistent), the same braking distance, and the same lap time (Camaro more consistent again).
The SS 1LE would destroy the M4 yes, but MT compared it to the M4 GTS race car and liked the 1LE better.
@@raphII2 Understeer only happens from going too fast, or not applying enough brake going into the turn. Either way Tiff is better than that.
I don't even own a car with launch control nor have i ever used it in any car but i'm positive that 5500 rpm setting is only if you're on a tire and prepped surface. I wouldn't have gone higher than 3k rpm. I never take these kind of races serious for this reason alone. These people drive cars for a living and don't know how to launch a car properly.
Just rented a 2020 camaro took it on a 2,500 mile road trip and I honestly thought the car was very nice as far as handling and power but omg the interior proved to be a big hassle for a tall guy! And the dash really starts to bug you as it looks crooked from left to right and center console hang it up your lucky to get sunglasses in it ! And you really can't see well out of the car ! The quarter glass should not even be there it's useless and the back glass threw the rearview mirror looks like a 8inch strip to view out of and you have to stop way short of a red light to see the signal without having to bend down. But to me the car did ride and handle very well with good power however I am willing to give the power and handling up for something with a better view while on a trip. Just had to try a camaro and the new ones just are not for me but a good car for others.
Didn’t use launch control on the camaro, probably didn’t even put it in track mode when he launched.
Stock Camaro comes with 245 in the front which cause massive understeer. should fit 305 all around then it will become a complete riot
They do. Get the z28
Hal 1000 I can’t afford the z28😂 Camaro ss is the most I can afford
Had both, currently have a Mustang GT PP1 2019. Camaro is wayyyyyy better all round though.
Why is that? I drove both and preferred the mustang so I'm curious why you like the Camaro more.
I've typically been a luxury car guy in the past so I'm not surprised that the futuristic weird lines in the Camaro were a turn off for me. The mustang felt like a Heritage car and the Camaro felt like a new release with no identity.
I have a 2018 ss and have had lots of time in a mustang this comment is correct the camaro is a better car.
@@gian-lucbrasseur207 Mustang is easier to see out of, but the Camaro has better driving dynamics, and is faster in the corners.
So my mustang is a 2019 gt premium performance pack A10. Can't say enough about the car. My only thing I could imagine the Camaro being better at is the cornering. The mustang does a very good job for its size but I can feel the limit issue being the weight and body roll.. I drove a 2018 SS stage 2 and the only noticeable difference was the Camaro felt like it was more planted. But in honesty there was not a single other thing i could see that was better about that car - for me (someone who loves luxury) I love the 3rd gen coyote the way it picks up at 3k rpm because I used to own german cars with turbos so I'm used to that delayed punch. Feels natural to me now.
Also I have to be honest - the mustang SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER. Granted mine has the active exhaust. I love the sound of the engine.
Just my thoughts. I'm here to see what other people who may own the new SS think. I respect anyone in an SS and love getting caught up on the interstate with them.
Mustang all say...G M scrapped the camaro and brought it backlike nothing happened
