    After getting a lot of questions about these rifles, I wanted to get in the weeds with them and talk a little about the Springfield M1A, affordable Vortex optics, and what my experience, as a regular hunter person, has been with these lines of products.

    Nice chair, good review too. I passed on that model scope a few years back in favor of a nikon prostaff 5 and haven't seen one in stock since.

      Thanks 👍 The Nikons have more forgiving eye relief across the board from what I’ve seen. I’m looking at the Nikon Black FX1000 for a bolt action at the moment.

    Would you recommend the low or high scope mount. And great vid! Keep pumping them out

      I have low mounts on my loaded and it's a tack driver. However you absolutely will not have access to your trusty proven iron sights. Hope this helps.

    I hunt with a standard m1a with a scope and 1st gen socom there the only ones I have owned and both grouped inside of a nickel at 100 yards maybe I have been lucky I only shoot reloads and both have a fiberglass stock only thing I would change is better trigger
    Wife loves to shoot socom says no kick

      The stock and reloads definitely help, and some of them are simply built better. Kind of random luck with them. Someday i am going to restock this thing and get it shooting right.

    The spring tension that the triggerguard assembly imposes on the receiver is pretty much the only thing holding everything together and will vary in clamping force during the rifle's firing cycle. CMP shooters bed the receiver to the stock to get MOA accuracy. i use GM Silicone Black. switch to a GI fiberglass stock too. peening the gas cylinder to the barrel may not be necessary and should only be a last resort. Hth and great rifle👍🇺🇸

      Thank you for the great input. I will probably end up going that route on this rifle some day. I just like messing with it too much not to.

    I have to disagree about the M1A recoil. If recoil on the M1A is an issue for you perhaps you should stick with 22LR. Limb-saver ......... really? M1A's in 7.62x51 or 308 is as docile as a new born kitten. So please spare me the non-sense about recoil. Nevertheless, still a good video and review. Nice job.

    • @tacticalpossum7090
      @tacticalpossum7090 Рік тому +4

      This is a really, really ignorant comment. Obviously the recoil of the .308 is not an issue to a shooter like him. Hes specifically talking about the recoil's affects on the scope; M1A's are notoriously hard on scopes due to the recoil system. Thats why people are watching the video.

      The M1a handles recoil horribly. It’s an absolute headache. I’ve owned four of them. If you don’t know that then you don’t shoot these rifles. My bolt action 300 win and 338 Lapua are easier on optics than the m1a. It’s just facts.
      Edit: in fact the springfield m1a is just all around a terrible platform if you want to shoot groups. They cost too much, and are inherently inaccurate. You want one that shoots real groups? 4k minimum. Not even worth it. Just buy a better rifle that shoots .5 Moa out of the box and costs less IF you want accuracy.

    these were and are, battle rifles. The human heart is probably 3-5 MOA depending on where your point of aim might be. One does not need 1 MOA on a battle rifle. Besides, I see you have a bayonet lug. Acquire a bayonet and learn how to use it . . . battle rifle, like an M1. 30.06. I am a retired medical doctor, former Battalion and Regimental Surgeon in the USMC, Viet Nam and Desert Shield/Storm. Just one man's opinion. I have three of these, 22 inch, 18 inch and 16 inch barrels

      Very well said. I couldn’t put it better than you did. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it’s one of the best looking and handling rifles in the world.

    I turned this bs off when he said it has a lot of recoil he obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about btw idk about the standard idk why you would get one when you can get the loaded for a couple hundred more and get basically all national match parts ( barrel, trigger, sights, and I think receiver) the only difference between the loaded and the super match is a hooded rear sight, glass bedded receiver to stock, and a heavier barrel plus 700 bucks, the loaded shoots 1 moa or sub moa depending on your skill again Idk about the standard m1a but I doubt it’s a 2 moa rifle I think he is just a 2 moa shooter ( not the rifles fault) in concussion just get the loaded it doesn’t cost much more it’s worth it I love mine I’m not the best rifleman and it can still shoot 1 moa or better at 100 to 600 yards with good ammo

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 роки тому

      The standard is a 2+ Moa gun in most cases. And that’s actually pretty well known. Some of them will happen to shoot better sure, but this rifle, locked down in a Vice grip, will rarely shoot under 2 Moa. And yeah the gun recoils a lot for me. Not sure why. None of my other 308s bother me. I also get 1-1.25 Moa out of all of my other rifles, which can be seen in many of our other videos. The M1A is fun, but it’s not cost effective and not an accurate rifle, at least not the Standard. The accuracy problems with this rifle are extremely well documented in the m1a community and part of the reason I made this video is to show regular everyday shooters what they will probably get if they buy this rifle.
      Edit: and I agree anyone looking to get into m1a should get the loaded if they care about groups.

    It wasn’t the funny face…. You pulled the shot… most people can’t get sub MOA with ARs. M1A aren’t nearly as sensitive as you make them out to be.

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  8 місяців тому

      Yes they are sensitive and for the money they simply aren’t worth it if someone wants an accurate rifle. These rifles are inaccurate. The pressure points on the barrels change everytime you pick them up. We now have owned five of them. They all share the same inconsistencies. They are a blast but they are inherently inaccurate. I shoot sub moa. There are many examples of me doing so in these videos. Not hating on these rifles, they are fun. But they are assembled horribly and aren’t shooters.
