Good stuff! But I do believe this is an EXPS3-2 since it’s night vision compatible.
That’s not a trivial difference at all ha! Thanks for the heads up. You are correct.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors It's actually an EXPS3-4 haha, it has 4 1 MOA dots
I think you are the one who is correct. Teamwork makes the dream work.
The EXPS is just a better XPS, and it’s the 3-4 version with the 4 dots.
Awesome review. A real person shooting giving an honest review. Thank you.
I have the EXPS2-2 with the 3x magnifier. Love it. Good review.
Truly a great review. One of the best I have seen so far on the eotech If not the best. So good. Thank u sir.
Glad you like it.
I recently got the G45 with an Eotech sight I already had to replace a night force 1-4 NXS and am very pleased ! Great setup !
We’re getting back into eotechs right now. Not sure why we stopped!
Good video. Thank you.
Do you know if the EOTech Holographic Weapon Sight - Model HHS II is available for lefties?
7:00 it's the refresh ratio kindof like recording a screen on an old tv how it gets the lines running across the screen but the refresh ratio on the eotech and your camera are not in sync and that is why it looks funny 😀
now I really want to see you put all of that on the ruger lcp!
If there was an easy way to do it we would lol
I have a question for you man, what is the height of the optic? Measured from the highest point of the rail to the highest point of magnifier or red dot?
I will measure it and let you know
Can you show while using the NV mode? Can you do a shoot with low sunlight or something?
The optic is currently being used by a friend of ours so unfortunately I’m not sure when we will have access to it again. I can say this for what it’s worth: if you’re buying it with the intention of using night-vision with it regularly, we would recommend an Aimpoint product. For us Eotechs have better FOV for day hunting / shooting , and Aimpoints have better ergonomics and low setting reticles for night. Just our opinions of course, can’t really go wrong with either 👍
wouldn't it be easier with a bore laser / round laser in the chamber vs trying to actually look through the bore?
At that range most of the bore lasers don’t show up on the target in broad day light. Sometimes I’ll use bore lasers on cloudy days at closer range for sure though.
Exps2 425 at euro optic and holosun hm3x 200= great setup for half the money
Loving the holosuns.
So I’ve read that the exps3-4 is calibrated for a 14.5” and m855. I have it on a 16” with the 3x magnifier and I’m using 55gr. Do you think that’s fairly close or will I be off by a lot if I use the dots for longer ranges?
Good question. When you say longer ranges, what range are you thinking ?
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors I would say the furthest I’ll most likely shoot to will be around 300-400 yards
@@dannylin8095 If they are indeed calibrated for that setup, yours will be “noticeably” off. The grain difference alone is enough move your POI amplified at the range your talking about. But I’m honestly not sure of the specifics.
Just my two cents based on what you’re saying; if you want to rock 556 at 400 yards consistently and accurately, this optic is not an ideal setup for the money. For the cost of this you could get something substantially better for your caliber / distance goals.
It can be done with this optic, sure, but IMO this optic excels at 50-200 yards. Clear as day, quick target acquisition, etc. Not enough magnification for 3-400 though. Just my 2 cents of course.
You are always better off determining the range the dots are at for your weapon/ammo combination than trying to match the factory BDC exactly. For example if one dot is 243 yards, and another is 321 yards, it is pretty simple to know where the 300 yard POA will be since it is inbetween those two dots. So the reality is you aren't exactly losing all that much capability, if any.
As grit noted, this combo isn't ideal for ranges beyond 200 yards. It will work at further range but other options would be better. Personally a scope with a top mounted micro red dot will cover nearly anything you are going to do. There is really only one reason to have an eotech, and that is for shooting with night vision. The purpose of the magnifier is more for situations where you run through the night and end caught in daylight. In daylight ranges are not limited by darkness (head mounted night vision really only works out to 200 yards practically due to resolution), so you need magnification again if you are in an open environment at day.
What shroud are you using?
AIM sports carbine length quad rail. It’s cheap and holds onto bipods just fine. Edit: with magpul rail covers.
Anyone else got bothered by the smudge on the glass of the holo? Lol. Either way good video dude!
It bothers me too lol. Didn’t see it until it was too late.
I liked your video. I'm thinking of getting this set up for my rifle but am concerned if there is enough room for back up iron sights in the back behind magnifier?
If you’re using the smith and wesson optic ready model (or anything with a small rail like this that does not extend down the barrel in one piece ) I would say it’s going to be hard to fit all three.
I just got my EXPS3-4 and my reticle is small, like really small. Any idea what's wrong with it?
I am not sure, but I’ve heard about this from numerous people so it seems to be a running theme now. Sorry I don’t have more info.
Too close to your eyes.
Mine is blurry, is there any way to clear that up?
If it’s blurry you might have astigmatism, even if it’s really really minor. Eotechs looking blurry to me are the only reason I found out I had astigmatism in both eyes. Other than that they should be crystal clear.
Look through the circle, not at it. The circle will become more clear and clear to u
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors wow that's exactly how I found out that I had astigmatism. One day I switched to my left eye and was amazed at how good the reticle looked.
Do you use the 2 dot reticle with that set up ?
I think it was running the classic/standard 3 dots reticle when we were using it to hunt at feeders ( shooting from some sort of rest at around 120 yards).Honestly we don’t use this that much anymore as 99% of our shooting is feral hog hunting and this simply doesn’t offer enough magnification to be effective at 200 + yards taking quick, unsupported shots. It’s still a great setup, but there’s a lot better for a lot less, strictly from a hunting perspective.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors ok thanks
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors hey I have just 1 more question can u run 1 dot with the magnifier?
I believe so, but let me check and get back to you. I might be thinking of one of our other eotechs.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors ok yes let me know thanks for the help too
I know I am very late to the game here, but the EXPS3 is a HOLOGRAPHIC optical sight and NOT a "red dot". You have done a great job with a very user friendly video, but you need to correct this glaring error as it really does make a difference. Google "red dot" vs. "holographic" and you will learn the major differences between the two, which become quite significant for MOA with magnification. Not trying to be a harsh critic, but this is an important difference that needs to be corrected. Thanks for the video.
Appreciate the feedback! And while you’re absolutely correct, it is also very commonly referred to as a red dot, as are other holographics.
Now I kind of understand what parallax free mean..LOL
You should zero an eotech at 50 yds not 70. 50 yds translates to a 200 yd zero on a 16 inch AR .
For sure. I was just messing around honestly. And one of those loads was way way off. You can hear it and see it fly. I really just wanted to try the magnifier. And man it’s fun. For our hunting operation/precision equipment it’s all Grendels at 50 yard zero 👍
Eotech needs to step up their battery life.
Indeed. They also need better reticles. Not even sure what I don’t like about them, they just seem…off.
