- The Loaded Springfield M1A is a great rifle for someone who wants an M1A with a few more features but doesn't have the cash for the National Match M1A. The Loaded M1A is probably one of my favorite firearms I own, it handles the big .308 cartridge with ease without being too heavy and the rifle just has a good feel to it. I plan on putting a nice scope on this rifle in the future so I can start really pushing the limits of this rifles range. Thanks for watching and remember to Train Like You Fight!

Your a good man. I’m glad you respect the M1A. My father went through basic & AIT with the M14. When he got to Vietnam he was given an M16 for the 1st time. He is still alive today. He moved next door to me with Mom. He said he sorely missed his 7.62 M14 in the Jungle! I just bought Dad an M1A Loaded…I’m gonna give it to him as soon as it comes in. What else can you give to a 75 year old Father who doesn’t need anything anymore? Something sentimental & dear to the heart ❤️ thank you for your M1A Loaded video!
You're a better son than I am. The best thing I ever got my dad was a G43.
@@TrainLikeYouFight …a German G43? No, I’d have to keep that one for myself 😏 lol
@@ReichenbachEsq No a Glock 43.
I have own 6 of the M1As and currently have 2. I have come full circle from highly modified rifles back to two stock configurations. I have always liked the stock look of this rifle.
This rifle is perfect the way it is.
It is. All it needs is a sling & butstock cleaning kit.
I carried an M-14 for 3 Years in the Marine Corp Very good Rifle We Shot from the 200 meter 300 meter and the 500 Meter at 500 We only shot it in the Prone Position 10 rounds. You could fit 3 man size Silhouettes on your front site Blade. But most people had no problems hitting the target.
I qualified with the M1 rifle in the Marine Corps in 1956 from 100 yard in the off hand, 300 yard in kneeling or sitting position and at the 500 yards in the Prone position. We did not even have the M 14 at the time I was on active duty with the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. I joined the Army in 1959 and they had the M 14 rifle we also had the M 14 rifle when I went overseas to Germany the same year. Until this day I’m way more comfortable shooting with the M1 tight sight On a rifle then even with rifle scope like I have mounted on my M1A. I was assigned as a sniper Using the M1D overseas because of the training I had in the Corp.
I used one in Vietnam and it was just simple , just buy ammo and practice , ammo is the next target for the gun haters so buy as much as you can when you can.
Got the tanker love it . Awesome infantry rifle, short barrel, knock down power, Various clip capacity available. Tad bit heavy but the real wood stock freaking awesome.
Train Like You Fight, You did an excellent job on this review, Your shooting was very good , and the rifle is beautiful. 🇺🇸
Rick Nethery thanks! I try to make the videos as good as I can with limited resources.
I did have the money for an LRB or Fulton but I still got the Springfield. In fact, I got two of them, the Scout and the Loaded. Awesome rifles!!
Don't play music over the awesome sound the gun makes when you shoot it.
Yeah, I wanna hear that ping of the M1A op rod.
That rifle will outshoot you or me just like it i s. Nice choice.
@Lee Harvey Oswald You are nuts. This weapon system is STILL in use by the US military after over 70 years of use specifically because of its durability and dependability.
@@roccobierman4985 YOU are correct!!!! ONLY those who do not have a clue knock this rifle.
In 1965 in boot camp I scored Marksman on first rounds. The weapon was so worn that it rattled when abruptly shaken. Fond memory.
I agree. Keep the wood and just shoot it every chance you get.
I like walnut wood and blue steel.
Thanks for the review. I enjoyed it. I just purchased one today as a matter of fact. I'm in Commiefornia so I have a 10 day waiting period. Can't wait to take her out.
You will love it! Maybe one of these days we can get some laws to prevent states from taking away people's freedom.
Train Like you Fight, Great gun, I have a M1A Standard that I shoot NRA CMP matches at 200 yd and shoot 600 yd with a bi pod just for fun / practice. Both are shot IRON SIGHTS ! I am 71 years young and the fun is in the challenge. To close up groups at 600 yd I had to go to 168 gr bullets and I reload my own. Your shooting at 300? yd is very good off a backpack with factory ammo. You have the gun, get the best ammo you can find and as a past golf instructor told me " it's not the arrow it's the Indian"
Thank you for the advice. I have really fallen in love with the iron sights and I honestly don't think I will be getting a scope for it since it doesn't seem to need it.
Beautiful rifle. I'm also thinking about getting the M1A loaded . I was talking to HRfunk he told me to start off with the loaded. He also told me to be careful of any upgrades because if you are going to compete it's going to force you to go to a higher class with heavier competition. So I think you're starting off in the right spot if you decide to compete compete in the class that they loaded would be in. You can always upgrade and go to higher classes. I'm no expert but I know that HRfunk goes to camp Perry and he competes a lot. Probably get advice coming from him. Thanks again
You can really tighten up those groups with your open sights by zeroing for a 6 hold. If you're holding Dead on your groups will wander and be larger. The 6 gives you a lot better sight picture in reference to the Target. You're one click / 1 inch at 100. So three clicks up and a 6 hold you should be dead on. Thanks
Amen to that. Thats exactly how I set mine up. Dead nuts.
@@TELEFUNKENU47458 Excellent 👍
Love the M14/M1A rifle. I highly recommend the Sadlak Op Rod Spring Guide.
Thanks!
Daniel Porter The Sadlak TiN gas piston is a great combo with the NM spring-guide.
HUMBLE OPINION - The walnut stock is the aesthetic upgrade..not just another plastic boom boom stick..
Amen brother 🙏 well said.
Excellent Video.....Thank You!!! I just ordered the "Loaded" Model in Black Synthetic.
1/75 RLTW
Great weapon choice!!
Beautiful.. It's November, and hoping I can find one just over the Ca. Border..in Oregon.
Just put some boiled linseed oil on the stock. $6 for a can at your local hardware store that will last for years don’t need too much. Will make it look better and protect it. Do it inside and out 5-7 coats. Let 24 hours pass between each coat. I do this to my m1a and m1 garands.
Soylent Green I'd like to see a video on that
Brian Cline I’m sure there’s video out there if you search. I’ll re oil mine when the high power season is over and make a video. I don’t take my rifles down during the season as with m1 garands and m14’s it can mess your zero up and loosens the stock hurting accuracy. So I just clean the barrel after each range trip and do a detail clean and re-grease once a year.
I’m getting one of these really soon. Wish me luck boys
That stock you have on the rifle is good enough. Put a check riser on or tape a piece of rubber to get proper eye pleacement if you get a scope. If your not going to scope then run it like it is. Dam good rifle! Good choice!
Thank you for the tips! would you recommend glass bedding the stock?
Train Like You Fight
If you do glass bed it I hope you do a video on that. I have the same rifle and stock on order. I can’t wait to try it out. I will put a scope on mine as well. Now to find a good cheek riser. Thanks for this.
@@TrainLikeYouFight my dad has a national match and a super match. Both are glass bedded and very accurate. If you are going to glass bed yours you may want to purchase a new stock and bed that one. If you don't like the result you'll still have your stock configuration.
I have the same Loaded M-1A in black synthetic. I have top end scopes on my other rifles but I will not scope my Loaded M-1A. It will stay an iron sight battle rifle.
After two years of shooting this rifle with iron sights I am not super anxious to get a scope. I don't have a range near me that goes past 400M, so I honestly don't need a scope.
@@TrainLikeYouFight Get a 1-8x LPVO. Have one on my Scout Squad and it's perfect for "breaking doors" and instantly transitioning to long-range. 1.2moa out to 900yrds all day.
Or, go with a Vortex 2-10x32.
Finally a true American 👍 warrior comment. This is what the goddam rifle was built to do.
Nice t-shirt, I got Air Assault qualified in 1985 and became Sniper qualified a few months later., with a xm21. Good video!
Great review
Excellent rifle, very good video, good shooting
I have the Hu-Lux copy of the old U.S.M.C. M40 sniper scope. Looks good on the rifle and is 3-9 X40, more then adequate for your 300 yard range. Plus it is U.S.M.C. approved.
3-15x50 scope is what I’d get. There are lower profile mounts for them than the Springfield too. Bad ace tactical is the one I found. You’ll likely need a cheek riser too. RLO leather makes some good stuff from what I hear. Can’t wait to get one of my own at some point!
I personally prefer the Architecture of a traditional stock for the feel of it, but I've found the SAGE EBR stock was the only stock to solve my problem of the POI migrating down as the barrel heated up because it was the only stock to eliminate the front stock barrel band and free float the barrel.
I've got the same rifle and added a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 scope with a Sadlak Airborne scope mount. Other upgrades I've added a Sadlak NM guide rod Bradley Cheek rest and a SEI muzzle brake
Hello congrats on the m-1a. I bought mine about 11 years ago and did nothing but just shoot with no scope I added nothing but ammo and care to the gun I love the iron sights.Great job on the review..
David Fox thanks, I love the Iron sights too but I also would live to take some 1000 meter shots with it.
Love the Nutnfancy music near the end Awesome dude Lol Huge huge fan of this platform. I've three Lol The Scout's stupid accurate for a factory M1A with factory FGMM 168! Consistent 1.2moa!
I recommend a 1-6 to 1-18x LPVO. I'm running the Primary Arms 1-8x SFP on my scope and the Vortex 2.5-10x32 on my Loaded.
You said no but then said yes about the trigger. If you do it will have a better tuned pull and less poundage. Around 4 or 5. I have a loaded with all the features. I absolutely love it and shoot everything, comp. to fun and hunt. I have a scope, and shoot with and without. if you have any kind of weapon and you even think about scope it, you should train with and without.
I just bought a new m1a Springfield in black composite stock and it's a loaded model 9106 the flash hider is not what was on the original m14 Springfield cut off the bayonet lug
I have a Bradley cheek riser they are awesome dnt drill your wood to put a cheek riser.
Thanks for the info!
@Bradleycheekrest is at home on this M1a platform, Do Not drill your stock get a @Bradleycheekrest you will be happy you did!
Thanks for your review. I own the walnut M1A, NM and find it not only accurate (correct breathing at 2nd stage trigger squeeze) but a real flat MOA shooter. I love it with NM iron sights. I have mine zeroed at 200 yards right now for Antelope, and is highly accurate with said sights to 500 yards. I'm thinking about putting a Leupold VX series scope on it for a change. I love long distance shooting....Note, a cheek riser is an asset for proper alignment with a scope for sure.
I was actually able to push mine out to 1000 yards with iron sights. Granted the steel target was 6'X6' and we walked the rounds in with my spotting scope, but it was very consistent once we knew where to aim.
@@TrainLikeYouFight Very nice distance shooting friend !
Get the scope that was designed for this platform (Leatherwood) Hi-Lux M1000 ART or the M2000 ART you can check their history on their website & here on UA-cam.
I say get a Bradley adjustable tactical cheek rest m1a cheek rest will help you out a lot.
I own the standard m1a and I do believe the flash hider is the same.
I see these M1As Loaded with blue steel barrels. All the ones I have seen at gunshows and gun stores have SS barrels. I sold my M1A standard to finance my Loaded and it has a SS barrel.
Get a bassett scope mount
Yeah, this rifle is a lot of fun; but, unless you actually undertake to shoot one in US Service Rifle Competition you are missing out on the most fun, testing and celebrating skills that can not be developed in casual plinking with the rifle.
I actually have a friend who has shot at Camp Perry multiple times and I plan to join him one of these days.
There's no need to buy an expensive stock. I recommend glass bedding the one you have. Some owners like to unite the gas block to the barrel. I say no. Just get the compression washer kit, it works. Once you start welding things, it's permanent, and usually something we regret. Yes, speaking from experience. A plastic stock. Yea, I said plastic. They can be bedded, but, a lot more time/work is involved. And in the end, they will still sound like plastic. Those stocks, in my experience with several rifles, have a different balance than walnut. I only have one rifle that I bedded with a plastic stock. It's a Savage, chambered in 17 HMR. Wasn't worth the effort. It shot great right out of the box, no improvement.
They all cone with that case.
If you want a different stock try the archangel one
I installed the mount and scope on my loaded it became very heavy . I grab my synthetic stock M1A to shoot .
I got the Bag and the NM Front Sight with My New M1A Scout / Squad.. 🤷🏻♂️🤔👍
That’s not cheap ammo. M80 is great SHTF stuff! I’m getting 1 MOA with that round with the same rifle in black synthetic.
Anyone know if the loaded model fits a USGI fiberglass stock
Get your nose closer to the receiver, learn how to use and wrap that sling, do not/do not take your finger off the trigger unless you're changing mags or moving and watch your groups shrink. Then you can knock over the 100 yard steel the 5.56 guys are shooting at with the N.M. open sights and then transition back to the 500 yard steel.
OP What scope did you opt for?
Decided to keep the rifle stock with no optics. It's a pretty heavy rifle by itself and the iron sights are very good.
300 yards with iron sights. Just wow. Only been shooting for 2 years, and I need a 24X optic to hit 100 yards LOL!.
Living in the socialist city of New Yorkistan, the only .308 semi auto with detachable mag we could buy is the M1A, so Ive been looking for a while. Great video.
Nothing like Steel and Wood, beats a plastic AR 15 any day of the week
168g rem premier match shoots way better in mine than 150 aguilla .. its the only two ive tried
M14👍👍👍💞💞💞
That rifle will out shoot you and i both just like it is... its beautiful and awesome.. i have same with stainless barrel
Lol.. just realized i left same comment 11 months ago!! Good vid!!
Great job young 👏 man
Scopes Trijicon military models red/yellow. Maybe red dot same brand 🤔 iain
Get an M1A from Palmetto right now and Springfield will give you 2 mags and a scope mount for free.
Too late for me but thanks for the reference.
Don't get the springfield scope mount. Not worth the money or the time of day. Get a sadlak scope mount or ever better an arms #18 scope mount. That is probably the best and lowest scope mount on the market.
Jeremiah Burton thanks for the info, I didn't know if those aftermarket parts were any good. You just saved me some money.
Disagree I own the same rifle and I have a springfield 4th gen scope mount. Add a little blue loctite and it's run smooth. I get very close grouping at a 1000 yards every time. No problems what's so ever!
Bossmanroo it can work, but many people have had problems with springfield mounts in the past. Glad to hear that yours works. The reason for the arms 18 mount and others like it is they are very secure with 3 points of contact and very very low. So tha you have better cheek weld and your bore to scope ratio is very close.
Nice review! I just purchased the Bassett Machine high mount for my Loaded which allows for use of the iron sights. Solid construction, easy on/off and you don’t have to remove the stripper clip guide. Worth a look!
Craig Scates Glad you found something you like. The sadlak and arms mounts do also allow the use of irons through the top rail of the mount. I have heard good things about the basset
Right
Scope it with a Nikon M308!!
burris 2-7x32mm scout scope
Your bench shooting style leaves much to be desired. The bags should be placed further forward, your torso should be supported by the bench and your left arm should be cradling the butt stock. Your groups would tighten considerably.
Iam very skeptical of a company that won’t tell your what barrels they use there’s a reason
Arms18 mount
Not sure if I want this or a pof revolution first
POF makes amazing rifles, but at the end of the day it's just another AR type rifle for the collection. The M1A is a classic even though it heavier, less accurate and more complicated than an AR it's always a blast to shoot.
@@TrainLikeYouFight thanks for your 2 cents they are f ing bad ass
How much did u pay?
Any updates on this bad boy yet?
Honestly I've only added a nice leather sling and color filled the sights. I thought about adding a scope, but the iron sights are just too good not to use.
@@TrainLikeYouFight you know, i feel the same.. i like the handy ness, if you will of the 18" and a scope just made it cumbersome.. i have the 22" loaded in stainless as well, and the scope again just seems to Frankenstein it.. i love the peeps (same on my 03A3 as well)... keep up the cool gun vids!!
I am not trying to be an A hole here but the name of you channel is train as you fight, and in the video you stated you don't do a lot of prone shooting well here to tell you if you have ever been in a serious fire fight shooting from the prone might be good to train from, just saying.
Shooting from the prone is the easiest position to shoot from. When I am training on my own I put more time into the more challenging drills such as walking and shooting or shooting on my back. Prone is a useful position when engaging targets past 200M, but if you are past that distance you really aren't in a defensive situation any more.
Same music nutnfancy used for his m1a video, real original.
That's funny, I had actually never seen his M1A video before you mentioned this. The intro song I used is the song "Burnt" and the one you are referring to is called "Hey Sailor", which I used later on in the video. There aren't many good sounding rock songs in the UA-cam royalty free playlist, so it's not uncommon to find many people using the same songs.
Its not the shooter, its not the ammo, its the rifle. I got mine to shoot 1 MOA after many mods.
That's awesome for an M1A, mine is shooting about 2" with decent ammo.
@@TrainLikeYouFight Shim the gas system, sadlack spring guide and tin coated piston. Check to see if your stock is touching your guide rod guide. Just look for rub marks. If it is, remove wood from stock until it isn't where the rub mark is. Then check your draw pressure on your front band. If you have none put shims in between your receiver and stock. Check out Toni Bens youtube channel, that is where I got all my info.
Also, my claim to a 1" MOA is a 3 Round group.
I have a Nikon M 308 4X16X42 800 BDC in my M1A loaded, just about the perfect scope for that rifle.
I'll be posting a review and range report very soon on my you tube channel, Cruzerlou Outdoors, along with a review and range report of my Socom 16 in a custom stock I built for it .Please check them out.

Rear sight isn’t NM
Used an Archangel stock
Nice video, but dude loose the music.
Learn how to bed it and seal any unsealed wood in the channel and there should be only one recoil surface with the lug when bedding
Don't get a scope for it. use it as a battle rifle and learn marksmanship for 300 yrds and under. You become proficient at 300 yrds and you're light years ahead of most people. Get a scope for a good old fashioned bolt action rifle.
WanderingLion72 I love using iron sights, I wouldn't have gotten a loaded M1A if I didn't intend on using the Iron sights. I just want to get a scope for when I start stretching the range out to 300+ yards.
I got a red dot for it makes it alot easier to shoot,
