My stepmother starved my sister and me. I was eating boxes of cake mix from the basement that were so old they had bugs in it and then hiding the empty boxes behind the paneling on the wall. What I am saying, is that she doesn't think what she is doing is wrong - she probably thinks she's the victim in all this.
I find it hard to believe dad had no idea. This abuse started way before they separated. The kid said he had to sleep on a bean bag for 18 months. The dad was supposedly only out for a year. He’s not free of guilt. Suing your daughter for a laptop was a bad look as well.
I agree, the dad had to know enough to separate when she left, I hope he does not get custody back either. Sounds like there are enough family members willing to take those kids into their loving homes

That “it’s personal business” is for sure the sign that Ruby, if not both parents, and probably Jodi taught those kids that what happens within the home and within the family stays here. He was alert enough to know he needs to go to a police station but he was very careful to reveal it to “outsiders”. This is heart wrenching. Shame on the adults in these kids’ life.
He thought he had done something wrong. He wanted to turn himself in not his mother and Jodi. He thought it was Jail or torture and he chose jail twice.
I think the scariest part of this entire story is that there are still people out there using the techniques and advice she gave thinking it was only at the very end where it became abuse.. that they know the line and won’t cross it despite the fact they already have. His poor little neck, he’s so small. 💔
For me the scariest thing is that Jodi had been operating for many years and men were falsely accused of abuse and jailed and lost their kids in custody cases and the state doesn’t seem to be doing a review of those horrific cases. There are a few videos around of some of the male victims who were brave enough to speak out. As a post-conviction lawyer I am outraged that nobody is doing anything to reverse those convictions and restore custody to these dads. 💔
This is why I've been saying from the start that everyone who was involved with these two women should be investigated to make sure their kids are safe and not being treated the same way. This was a cult of abuse.
I started crying when the ambulance pulled up. I cannot imagine the relief he must have felt seeing the help on the way. I am so happy he got out before they moved to Arizona like they were planning. They wouldnt have survived that.
The ambulance likely scared him. When you don't know what it's like to feel safe and you've been taught you're the bad one, intervention is terrifying.
The sentences are consecutive. They received the maximum sentence the state allows 1 - 15 years for each of the four counts. I doubt Jodie will receive parole before serving at least half of her maximum sentence (30 years)
Our justice system doesn’t seem to protect the VICTIM !!!! All about the PERP!!! Plus that Father is getting off scott free!!! And what about the 2 older kids!!! Or other relatives!! No one seemed to care about these kids…. Two monsters in charge of them!!!
Kids don’t ask to fuking be here. To treat a child any way than without love is crazy to me. Poor kids are probably confused half the time about why they’re being treated that way.
Jodi and Ruby never had remorse. THEY'RE INCAPABLE! Even after Ruby's annoying, high-pitched "apology," I wasn't convinced. But the footage of Ruby's questioning proves everything! She was never brain washed, she just doesn't love her kids. All that Jodi did was give her the opportunity to take her abuse farther and incorporate ideas.

Joyanna9433... I agree
Whenever people say something like "u don't know the full story" in a situation like this, it's always BS. There's no "full story" that justifies starving and torturing a child.
And she knows it is otherwise she'd have no problem telling her story.
Exactly, those are enablers who are likely child abusers themselves. They cover for each other.
You are correct.
Exactly!!
My stepmother starved my sister and me. I was eating boxes of cake mix from the basement that were so old they had bugs in it and then hiding the empty boxes behind the paneling on the wall. Years and years later, my dad removed the paneling and casually mentioned finding them. I told him AGAIN why and he didn't bat an eye and never mentioned it again. Like it never happened.
Big mama bear energy from that lady neighbour. Distracted him during the call when the guy cried, got a banana and told him to take small bites so he didn’t get sick and pacing in justified fury. I hope Ruby doesn’t get away with 4 years. She needs to serve the maximum sentence. I believe that is 30 years in this case
I can't imagine the mothers will let Ruby get out of prison. There's a hierarchy, they're on the bottom.
She got charged with 4 counts of child abuse(I think), a class 2 misdemeanor. The maximum sentence for one count is 15 yrs, and she needs to serve those counts consecutively
If I got the facts right she would have faced 60 years in prison max. She should have at least…it’s a disgrace that she got the minimum sentence and she’ll walk free in 2027
The between one and fifteen year sentencing in four consecutives is confusing and frustrating. Thats a large window, 4 to 60 years. Weird.
